At first yeah, but overheat periods are incredibly busy and you have to juggle a bunch of separate cooldowns

And yeah, you'll need the Stormblood Alliance Raids completed to start it as a lore requirement. After that the content varies per step: Poetics, HW FATE/Southern Front (New area for relic) grind, Lv60 Dungeon/Leveling Roulette Grind, that gets you done Stage 1/2/3.

Stage 3/4 aren't on that site yet, but it'll get you going

And as for MCH vs Red Mage, I think a key is how well you can splice in oGCD abilities. If you struggle splicing in oGCD abilities, the single target burst phase on MCH could be really tough.

from a play standpoint machinist does have more "apm" than in consideration of summoner or red mage. but its not much more difficult

the only busy parts of hypercharge/wildfire windows

and that only gets easier once you get the trait to stack 3 gauss round/ricochet charges

because you could just dump them before hyper instead if you're having a lot of trouble

True, that's a huge QoL upgrade. I almost dislike sync'd MCH for that reason. I actually start to screw up the Hypercharge because I'm so used to having 3 stacks

and for cooldown management you basically do 8 gcd loops, keep drill and air anchor one gcd apart, maybe two, overheat after you use them so they don't drift accidentally, profit

all the cooldowns are 1m or 2m too so you basically just repeat your opener every now and then

Yep. That's why I'm a better MCH than RDM. I can avoid the drift with MCH decnetly well. RDM? I still have no idea about managing the buff/Manathingy/Guarenteed proc cooldowns properly. I can be baseline effective with it, but I know I"m not doing as much as I should because I don't keep those straight.

How do I unlock melding?

Complete Forging the Spirit (materia extract/npc melding) and Waking the Spirit (player melding) in Central Thanalan.

How can I get my gear melded?

To meld visible Materia slots a NPC melder in any major city will do (marked with a Blue Materia icon on the map). To overmeld gear you'll need to request another player to meld your gear or to do it yourself.

Why can't I meld this Materia to my stuff?

Every Tier of Materia has a minimum item level requirement that gear must meet to allow melding of that Tier. Tier 6 Materia requires an item level of 290 while Tiers 7 and 8 require an item level of 420.

Why is my meld giving +0 stats?

Every item has a maximum amount of stats that can be given through melding and the natural stats found on the gear. This can be seen at the bottom of the Materia Melding menu, as seen in the picture below.

The secondary stat with a higher number is already at the cap and cannot be further melded.

@civic flare It's not exactly the same. Base raids, both the 8 man and 24 man, are generally PUG'd through the Duty Finder. The really hard stuff is the "Savage" and "Ultimate" raids. Those are usually done via "Static groups", people that just agree to work together. I know very little about that end.

Doing a roulette a second time is the exact same as queueing for the dungeons directly

Not so much useless, but just inefficient if you're trying to get xp. So typically there after you do the roulette to get the bonus, you just queue up your highest dungeon available. Bear in mind, you will eventually have MANY roulettes.

Only specific thing I recommend is if you use a shared abilitiy across classes or have a similar type of ability across classes, try to put certain things in the same spot. So all my tanks have their Cooldowns in the same spot (Rampart is Shift+1, Reprisal is Shift+2, Quick Cooldown is Alt+1, heaviest mitigation is always ALt+3, etc), my ranged attack is always 9, my stun is always 4. So no matter what tank I'm playing, those abilities NEVER move. Helps to keep yourself feeling comfortable bouncing between classes.

Heavensward i210 set: Dyeable upon opening up the coffer received from completion of your level 60 job quest. Should you have disposed of any particular pieces, they can also be bought directly with Centurio Seals in Ishgard at the Forgotten Knight by talking to Ardolain in the 'Exchange Centurio Seals (Advanced)' option.
