Common mats? If so, I'm still game for it just to try out different dyes
yes
Most are. Some are rare retainer rewards. And if cant be assed theres mogstation (for untradable dyes)
you can preview what a dye looks like on an item even if you dont have the dye
The craftable dyes are all level 30 crafts with easy to get materials
^
And any crafter can craft dyes
So, with schematics/recipes.
All skill-level/job-level or some drops/quest-locked?
no mats for dyes are quest locked
theres a quest to unlock the ability to dye things, but not to craft dyes
I mean to be able to actually craft them, not the mats
job level
Recipes at the level caps require master craft books, which are mostly bought with a crafter specific currency
^
Gotten via quests? (the currency)
no, gotten via crafting stuff
Turn-ins
Most crafting recipes are level locked, with a subset of recipes locked though expert books
^
Explain that too me, never heard of that
there are 2 of these expert books per expansion, for a total of 8 so far
its easier if you just experience crafting for yourself
because the game explains everything
You craft the item and get the quality bar high enough that you can turn it in for the currency and experience
In case it wasn’t clear, but crafters/gatherers are complete classes of their own
Yea, I see that part.
They have their own stats, gear, and skills
they share gear and skills other than tools
so its advised to level them all at once
And I'm fine being the guy sitting around gathering things precariously and crafting til the dawn of time.
cause a lot of them also use things made by the other crafter classes
after HW you unlock an area where you can power level crafters to 80 in like a day
Useful to know, NPCs just churn out mats endlessly in that area?
no
No
you gather them yourself in the instance tied to it
You need to acquire the mats yourself but its basically levequests on steroids
Good to know, bit of an adjustment to have mats in instanced areas though.
they arent normally
just for ishgard restoration
which is what they're referring to
the rest are in open world
Its basically a dungeon, called the diadem, you go in there for like 180 minutes or when you decide to leave
And just farm your fucking brains out, as you farm you build up a 'limit break' where you fire an aether cannon on the mobs there to get additional mats
its not a dungeon its just an instance
Interesting, definitely sounds like the place to be for grinding crafting levels
Yes I was trying to keep it simple
It’s fun to obliterate monsters with a 3 million damage laser blast
yea, and gatherer levels basically
cause if yo uwanna be self sufficient you should level botanist and miner too
You can switch between miner or botanist whenever you want to aswell
and diadem gives good exp for those 2 classes
Yea, and one thing about FF14 I'm already really digging is being able to swap jobs/skills on the fly all on one character
Did you come from wow?
WoW & SWTOR
yea, the game is actually punishing for having an alt, cause everything is locked behind the main story, so you'd have to do it all again on an alt
Same haha
Or spend money on a story skip but even then you still have to unlock all the side shit, of which there is alot.
The only thing that’s really account wide is certain purchases on the cash shop
nah story skips only take you so far
no
up to the beginning of shb
the story skip unlocks all side content
Oh it does?
yea
yes
up to the end of stormblood
Got burned out doing the biggest conquest guild in SWTOR, and WoW just killed my will to play the game in general.
And about side-content, there are some unique weapons/gear found within them right?
Tons of emotes
also mounts
Transmog stuff
Barbie is the real end-game in every MMO.
Mounts
there are also relic weapons for each expansion which are the grindy weapons
!mount adamantoise
Native to the Near Eastern island of Thavnair, adamantoises were long thought to be impossible to domesticate. However, through the efforts of both Ul'dahn zoologists and thaumaturges, a handful have been successfully trained not only to accept riders, but also wield ancient magicks which allow the colossal scalekin to fly.
200,000 MGP (Purchase)
Any decent XP doing it while progressing through the MSQ?
no
side quests dont give good exp
MSQ is mandatory
This is a mount you can get at the gold saucer, which is basically like an arcade/casino
You cant get anywhere without doing it
Fun fact: when it flies it spins like a top
korpokkur kolossus master race
Gambling? I'm hooked already, what's the drop-chance
cerberus master race
^
theres other mounts you can get from that place too
No plans on that other than crafting, maybe
!mount fenrir
Following the rise of Ishgard, hoarhounds all but disappeared from the Coerthas highlands. However, the shift in climate caused by the Calamity has seen the legendary beasts descend from their mountain dens once more.
1,000,000 MGP (Purchase)
If have played casino in dragon quest its the same general idea
Lemme reform that question, how many days/hours will I be punching the slots to be able to get it?
I mean you can do crafting if you want but it can be a bit overwhelming
well theres certain things you can do that give points, like, its fairly easy to get 110k points a week
If you must level a profession I would do mining and botany
so
2 weeks? lmao
maybe like, 4 hours a week? maybe less? maybe a little more
depends how long wonderous trails takes you
Time to get the taco bell turtle depends on how good are at mini cactpot, regular cactpot, gates, and fashion report
Not bad, pretty low entry for what appears to be a cool mount
Well I wouldn't advise grinding for it, just do your scratch cards each day/week, do fashion report each week, and if you must the gold saucer section of the challenge log each week and you'll get there
mounts arent really that hard to get in this game
^
Well
except the ones that drop from endgame stuff
most aren't that hard
!mount Cerberus
In addition to its immense strength and three gaping maws lined with razor-sharp fangs, this voidsent boasts incredible longevity, having lived since the Third Astral Era. The collars, of Allagan design, are believed to make it as tame as a puppy, though it may simply be biding its time before devouring its keeper.
Savage Queen Of Swords I (Achievement)
that was a bitch
you have it???
yes
dud ewtf
i cleared DR savage last week
Can I craft mounts?
no
some
some
wait what
like the magicked bed
oh right
yeah
the chair
There is probably one other but idk
A flying bed & chair?
yea, all mounts can fly
What crafting skill is it behind?
The bed and chair are the main ones that come to mind
you just gotta unlock flying
I know the bed is carpenter
Carpenter, master 8
I don't even care if it's a garbage crafting skill otherwise
!Recipe flying chair
I forget what the chair is
if youre going to level crafters you should be leveling them all together anyway
Just to fly a chair or bed 24/7 is dope
!recipe flying chair
Alchemist for the other one
hm not what I would have expected
also @silver ruin how much prog time did it take you to clear it
18h
what
we had 5 pulls on queen before we cleared
You basically take an existing chair and rub flying plants on it
thats not even bad
Dunno what those mats are, but amounts not being in the hundreds makes me hopeful
nah what was bad was getting 48 people together and having to replace someone each raid night
Key material for the bed are from lv 80 treasure dungeons
Well cloudbreath might go for a bit but the chair is definitely the easiest
the bed will be more expensive
for final thing?
i believe so
1.6 mil on famfrit
Don't care about the cost of final product
but this was honestly weeks ago lmao
Just want it to use it tbh
!faq mount
'When can I get my first mount?'
The quest that allows you to use mounts, 'My Little Chocobo' is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 'The Company You Keep'. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose and you'll need to buy the Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 needed Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes after 'The Company You Keep'.
'Are there any differences between mounts?'
Besides looks, all mounts are the same speed along with being able to fly. Some mounts allow multiple people to ride at once.
'Can I make my mount faster?'
Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.
you have to unlock mounts first
Last time i checked on famfrit the enchanted elm had dropped a bit
But ive been hording some wood in case like 70 glam mats are going up
@remote lintel if you wanna clear i recommend joining the primal BA discord, its how i found my clear group, they normally have runs going for people to get their feet wet in it
Hi All, if i bought Shadowbringers collectors edition in PS store, should i buy the same edition on Steam to access my character?
normal version is fine but you also need the base game
im already in primal forays
what is the name of the quest for centurio seals?
let the clan hunt begin unlocks HW hunts
Should be in forgotten knight or the board outside it
Thank you
is it... hard?
oh ok thanks~
they unlock based on your level
Midgardsormr or Famfrit for the preferred bonus?
doesnt matter
didnt find the quest in ishgard, forgotten knight, or the board
it says unable to accept any of the bill posted
they're different data centers but they're both NA, so it doesnt really matter
did you unlock ARR hunts
what is ARR hunts?
Hunt marks unlocked via grand company
you need to unlock hunts at your grand company to unlock hw hunts
the quest is let the hunt begin
Real quick, any appearance options e.g. hairstyles locked behind mogstation?
ah i have to finish the quests on trachraet npc first... ok thanks
er wait nvm no need
the ones locked are mostly like, collab events, like the ff13 one
theyre other character hairstyles
^
Just 5-10 bucks for all of them?
no they come with an outfit
Theres a lot of in game hair can get ranging from time sink (gold saucer) to just plain painful (eureka and bozja)
will the aether current compass tell you if there's a current anywhere on the map or does it have some kind of max range?
They come with the specific character's outfits then? That's somewhat painful
hey guys is there any guide on how to make macros for AST?
stuff like this, or ingame characters, or other game characters from other ff
!faq macros
ok thats not right
macros arent recommended
macros arent recommended for combat
Meh, I'll pass on those hairs then
cause they prevent skill queuing
I need it for cards
Aether compass kinda blindly points at the next current in proximity. There is no range limit
for cards?
theres only like 3 male hairstyles on mog station
you mean targeting a party member and using it?
ye
hrm... I'm trying to get flying to work in the coerthas western highlands and according to the wiki all the quest ones are locked behind early HW MSQs (which I finished), and my compas doesn't report any more currents but I can't fly
did you do the blue quests
if you're on a ps4 thats a different story though, idk what do with that
Should be 10 found, 5 quest locked
controller doesnt need a macro at all
oh there's extra blue quests I have to do in the western highlands?
you'd think not but that question has come up before
Cwh one is behind the dungeon
theres always aether currents locked behind side quests
... so i want to get this welkin hat since i discarded my old one, it costs 70 centurio seals and each hunt i only got 3?
... wat
ohh, I misread the wiki, I'm an idiot. it doesn't claim the currents are unlocked through MSQs but the quests needed for the currents are
thanks
then do hunts
i wanna cry ._.
This character creator, for an MMO, speaks to me in ways I didn't expect from an MMO.
Anything I should know right off from being a seasoned MMO player before I jump from the pan into the fire?
!faq newplayertips

also
uh, I would mention race and patron deity doesn't matter
and no nothing on the character creation screen matters except starting class
may cover some of the same stuff but some will be different
Starting off in arr is piss slow. Try to enjoy the ride
I didn't think it did, good to know that confirmation.
While I learn how this game's GCD functions GLA/PLD a good roll to start with? (Granted, I know at any time I can just go do something else)
theyre all good
!faq meta
As i said combat starts really slow. Tank starter gets though msq reasonably fast queue wise for instanced content
^
It looks fine on some ends
heya! I was curious. Im trying to set up a macro to move some abilities around on my hotbar. Is it possible for a macro to move a macro on my hotbar?
is how it shows up on desktop channy
Can just be discord imsge fuckery
It's a 2.5sec GCD normally, right?
yes
I'm on phone lul
Nice, that gives me a lot more time to press buttons
Macros can't call macros
i dont want it to call a macro I just want it to place one on my hotbar
Can’t do that either
;-;
Can only place normal actions on the bar
/ macros that do normal actions
Guess I'll have to figure out a way to do it with hotbar swapping
you can set bars to swap once you swap classes
You can do advanced fuckery with hotbar swapping but they don’t work good in the heat of combat
well what I wanna do is makedragon kick swap to bootshine after i use it
Can't turbo jam everything in between 2 gcds because of the 0.7s animation delay inherent to all casts
2.5GCD w/ 0.7 anim by default action lockouts?
Don't macro gcds for that matter
^
some have longer ones
so you can only use 2 ogcds at most before clipping and losing a gcd
All casts have a minimum 0.7s
Interesting, that's a new mechanic to me then, gonna have to learn that
you can weave 2 ogcds between gcds
So think of the time-line like this
the weaving image i linked above tells you how basically
the one i said was funny lmao
basically gcd>1 or 2 ogcds>gcd again
0.4s window, not awful for what I'm use to
Gcd>0.7s > ogcd1 > 0.7s > ogcd2 > 0.7s > 0.4s > gcd
If you try to jam another skill after ogcd 2 you delay your next gcd
And thats what we refer to as clipping
Becahse with the 0.7s animation delay you'd be at 2.8s since your last gcd
huh? I've heard people talk about triple weaving as bard
Which is 0.3s late
is that just clipping and being fine with it?
yes
Triple weaving is a cursed tech really only reserved for ungodly low ping
Where you basically eat a clip
any triple weave tech will inevitably be fine with a small clip
its not something i wanna try, i can barely double weave on my ping
just was curious given what you'd said
Any good way in-game to check ping in an ms #?
List of IP Addresses for each Datacenter
North America
Aether: 204.2.229.9
Primal: 204.2.229.10
Crystal: 204.2.229.11
Europe
Chaos: 195.82.50.9
Light: 195.82.50.10
Japan
Mana: 124.150.157.156
Gaia: 124.150.157.157
Elemental: 124.150.157.158
how do I ping the IP?
Windows: Open Command Prompt and type ping *insert IP Address here*
Mac: Open Terminal and type ping *insert IP Address here*
No good way to ping each server, only the GW for the DC?
the servers are in the data centers?
Gotcha, guess they got the same rack/AZ for each then
Sacramento ca is the apparent location
Only 1 ms difference between each na DC for me, could look up the registrar to see who owns that IP range to find out.
But wouldn't make a difference.
how the hell did my ping go from 63 to 71
Route changed, some infrastructure is probably under going maintenance
So a secondary route/sub-optimal route for your ping had to be used
Tierlists are doodoo in this game
Any content creator that says otherwise
its literally determined by how well you know and can play your class
Is wrong
Is a stupid tryhard who would rather find any excuse for their failure
With that in.mind I give cautionary warning about desperius tierlists and such
mhhh im a min max guy sooo ^^
then play well
Also this other mmo website that does them
and parse
and compare your damage to other players
it literally boils down to player skill level
okiii
Minmax by playing the job you're best at then, you'll do more DPS than the job you're less good at
the only time a tier list applies is if you are going for speed clear fastest in the world or something
but that party will probably be a lot worse for learning the fight and if its not played by godly players
Even in speed kills and world races
And most of the time world first parties are just concerned about stacking/benefiting from buffs
People still pick what they want
Like mch/war incompatible with drg or so
Most people just avoid duplicate classes in high-end content, since that impacts the generation of limit break
Also having multiples of the same job forces you to do weird stuff with your rotation as you can’t stack identical party buffs
Im currently leveling a gladiator. Will play co op with friend. Any class recomendation for him that will fit with gladiator and not have to bad qeue times?
A potentially unanswerable question for the people that can answer every question. So I am a SCH/SMN level 54, with developing WHM and BLM. I am now in post-ARR (just on 2.3), focussing on the MSQs but not on a complete non-stop towards finishing. SAM, BLU and RDM just opened up to me. I want to try levelling up a job that's not a healer (I will try AST when I get to that cos i like how flashy it is and i like astrology lol), and am not super interested ni another boomy boomy mage (though being 50 already at RDM is appealing). I was thinking tank because it's something that I would never pick, and is always in need. Or the other DPS (but queues). And not bard or guns. So I could try developing into a war or pld as they're the only tanks available and all the other classes would have queue issues in tryng to level. This i not even a question is it. Just asking for thoughts and ideas.
also healers have shorter queue time generally than dps
oh literally a v similar question just was asked lol.
melee dps
Need help please, not able to login to my character that i usually play on playstation on PC, new characters work fine
i've bought all DLC to match PC and PS version
anyone faced something like this?
(Also the ast job have not that much to do with actual irl astrology btw ... there are elements of it but most of it quite make believe ..)
game just crashes during loading screen
Yeah, totally true. Already picked that up. Funny really. But I love the (wonky) idea of a healer flinging tarot cards at people on a battlefield lol.
It’s a cool job, my main job even but that was my sort of warning for anyone picking it up for ... well astrology xD
Any kind of error code?

Do achievements net you anything?
mounts, titles, glamour, achievement points
Sick
no, game just crashes without error
Try a fresh reinstall?
just downloaded it yesterday
but can try if you think it can help
it just works for other characters
so i am not sure it is the solution
i mean, i've created test character and everything works fine there
is there like an invite a friend thing ?
Recruit a friend, yes.
can u get the subscribe for x days multiple times ?
oh okey ^^
So you can get a grand total of 45 Golden Feathers
What is this challenge log?
btw where can i get the Storm chocobo Issuance ?
Basically a big set of things to do for Gil, experience, and other currencies
From the grand company quartermaster
where is he ? xd
At your grand company base
Which for the maelstrom is near the adventurers guild in Limsa Lominsa
Closest mini-aetheryte being the aftcastle
found it thx <3
where do i get lvl 6 materia again?
rhalg reach exchanges that iirc; should be in other stormblood zones too
Also fairly cheap on MB
Spiritbonding level 70 gear, mainly. Probably also SHB leveling gear
What's the mechanic for the twineedle
The whole gorilla/ pterodactyl thingy
Is Diadem the only way to get the pegasus mount?
Whats the drop rate on Bozja FATEs for loathsome memories like, now?
Still one in a trillion?
Bought with Skybuilder scrips, but yeah you either do diadem or turn in crafts
Feels about double-triple from before the patch
Not sure what fight you’re talking about, what’s the instance/dungeon?

Housing plot cooldown timer can be anywhere from a few hours to over 2 days.
@obsidian patio Thank you, kind sir!
omg....
thanks
Idk Its one of the Alexander raids
You hit the bombs as gorilla and the pterodactyl does something
And there's a construction in the middle that has some sort of a ley line
Ah the 5th Alexander fight
The gorilla uses their action to push the bombs into a corner away from the party
And the bird is used to dodge the boss’s ground-punch attack
And the needle in the middle is used to charge up the syringes to drop the pools that turn you into the gorilla/bird
You have someone stand in it for a little bit to have them spawn
O I c
What would I expect from New Game +?
Does it provide exp and gil?
I just completed ARR and was wondering if I should progress the main story or stop and smell the roses before I continue
Despite its name
No it's just for redoing story
New Game + for XIV means you get to re-watch the quests
I see
It is not a new tier of difficulty
I'd definitely take your time with it though, you got a metric fuck ton of stuff you can unlock now
In that case, where would be a place to level level 50 and above classes?
You keep going with your
Well unless you have a good reason for grinding up your levels I wouldn't bother
I am in progress of unlocking all the ARR hard dungeons
Also even if it did it'd still be synced to level 50
Yes, it is pretty confusing
Well
Yes but they are negligible
I understand
they are designed to not give you a lot of xp so you don't overlevel to like, level 80 while in ARR
Hey, level 80 pally. What stats should I slot for?
How levelling level 50 classes? I noticed that levequests ends at level 49 and I am looking for ways to level classes
Sks > Crit > direct hit >= determination, probably
You don't use leve quest to level combat jobs
!faq altlvlguide

Short answer is, you do dungeons to get exo
Yeah
Gracias, LC
So.. what is fellowship? like a community?
sorry, sks?
Skill speed
^
ahhh thanks
If I am reading The Balance right you want Paladin skill speed to be 1117
there abouts
more like a message board
What are hunts and how do I unlock them?
Dumb question to ask buuuuut...
1M gil to level a crafter using ishgard restoration... is it enough from 1 to 80?
By buying every single mat btw
does mug increases my chances of getting a celestial kimono remnant from tsukuyomi?
No, probably
Ooof, thanks for the info
i finished e9s with my static on thursday but when i check the high end duty section of the duty finder it says e10s is locked due to progress, is that just because i wasn't party leader?
i did enter e10s with my static also
Is the ONLY way to get the eden gear by doing savage eden runs?
And, if yes, do I need these antiquity stuff?
-actually is Eden gear still the strongest end game gear?
Is the next relic step expected to be the last one, based off of previous relics?
edenmete is ilvl 510 and can be obtained with eden promise normal tokens, the antiquity stuffs
edenmorn is ilvl 530 (weapon 535) and only obtainable via eden promise savage
edenmorn is usually half of the best in slot, with the other half being augmented cryptlurker (obtained from tomestone exchange + upgrade token from eden savage)
how do cutscenes work in dungeons? i did one just now and by the time the cutscene finished for me the goup was nearly done killing the boss 😐
People can skip the cutscene but you can still watch it
how can i tell if ppl have skipped?
i hate to just stand there while they do all the work
generally can't, people who skip like that are dicks anyway so don't even feel bad for them
the only prompt you'll have is 'the x location will be sealed off in y seconds'
^ that's only if they skipped AND started the fight
Yeah pretty much
but yeah, people not waiting for first timers on cutscenes bring it upon themselves so don't feel bad abt it
hmm ok
yeah people that skip and fight instantly are dicks
as a 80 bard now gunbreaker I wait for everyone
Im pretty new (300 hours still in arr), i Wanna try out gunbreaker but my friend mains dk, for normal dungeons that only need one tank would it let us queue or will it not work
How to make a several statement macro on PS4?
I can't find the line break function on my PS4 keyboard :/
Go in unsync @normal storm
three.. hundred hours and still in arr msq?
ah yes afking in limsa for 200 hours

I rushed the story because of how many times people tried spoiling the story for me so yeah
but with 400 hours I joined an FC, colored my chocobo, learned glamour plating
I hate limsa idk why its too noisy but the outer area
understandable
I like it reminds me of Cali a bit
What is this section here?
oh left
When I was training my chocobo I had a background like a big pool or lake
just a nice way out
but I can't go through that
in shirogane there is a beach
oh found it
but still no explanation to that lane
I don't mean a literal way out for the player but it's just there to show, you know, not sure how to put it
What is that
in duty finder in the top left there is cog and there you can toggle "undersized party" which let's you unsync fights
Essentially it lets you go in with less than the required amount of people
and you go in at your real level and gear without it being synced down
Does it give any negative effects
you don't get stuff like xp
I heard from looking it up it was unhealthy or something
how much materia do i roughly need for pentamelding ?
I mean that sounds a bit...I mean, it kinda doesn't respect the content you're doing and you don't learn anything from those fights really
that’s the extreme case ofc but be prepared ...
I wouldn't call it unhealthy though
one item
yikes
normally it’s probably 20 25
i can request meld for pentamelding , right ?
yes
but keep in mind that slots 3rd and above cant be melded with the +60 materia
hmm okay thanks
so dont buy tooo many of those
depends on the gear
and 4th n 5th are lower
well 4th for those with 2 default slots

materia like that can only go in the guaranteed slots and the first not guaranteed slot
3rd for 1 slot
thanks
well depends on the jewellery still but sure?
it may just be the game, but the environments especially grass and ground texture are very fuzzy when in motion. I thought it was an AA issue but i've tried in game FXAA and through nvidia control panel and nothing seems to improve it. there are no jagged edges on characters though so maybe its not an aliasing issue. anyone else have this problem?
Guys, I'm a Thaum, but which quests should I follow to become a Red Mage and learn new dps skills?
@teal socket First quest is in Uldah
And your main job need to be at least level 50 and above
you need to be level 50 of any job to unlock rdm, so continue leveling your thaumaturge/black mage till then
and do your THM class/job quests to unlock the skills you don't get from levels
Yup yup
And what type of quests are them? I'm getting confused with levequests, guildhests etc...
So many types ahaha
Your job quests.
You see at the upper corner, there's your Main Story Quests, underneath it there's your job quests
Class/job quests are
from your guild (the Thaumaturge's Guild in Ul'dah).
Those are the type of quests that are related to your class/job
Oh yes, I'm doing them
So keep doing those to get exp as well as unlock new skills
Once you hit 50, you can do RDM
yeah that's for pugilist/monk
thanks, it helped, not sure what it was
What about the color to the left of an item? I have some gear with a red bar, some with a blue bar
If you're looking at your equipped gear, that's the durability indicator.
A red bar means you need to repair it. Blue means it's at 100% or higher.
Should I go for Edenmete? I am wearing a high quality Neo-Ishgardian. Or, should I just try to buy/craft the Exarch?
I want to be very strong that even when I am synced I still can deal dmg/sustain enemy dmg.
anyone know what to put in pentamelds for gnb 510 crafted gear? cant find anything in balance discords and noone is replying
what kind of content are you gearing up for?
unreal and eden
balance does have gnb’s bis
yeah but im using 510 crafted gear
it’s crit then SkS to comfy
seeing melds for BiS isnt really helpful
Syncing down for unreal will ignore any melds anyway
bis meld is still max crit at 510 anw
just follow the general meld priority for the job
you can probably mess around with tiering on etro but it's really not worth the effort for i510

how long untill something you buy off the mog station appears in game
Anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours.
It depends on how busy the delivery servers are.
dumb question but, how do i pause downloading?
there's only cancel and close the client itself
if you close the launcher it should resume in the same place when you open it again
or at least the download size will be reduced by what you already downloaded, even if the progress bar is empty
how do i unlock skills for my chocobo? also how do i change the barding?
i remember a friend showing me healer stance but i forget where the menu for it is
can you relocate your house more than one time?
yes
Character menu - Companion.
Skills are in skill tree, bardings are in Appearance tab
I recommend maxing out the healer tree first, DPS second and tank last
ty
It can save your ass doing job quests and fates
I've been neglecting my chocobo lol
Anyway, does anyone know how to view old guides. I got level 50 in a dungeon and had to close all the info it gave because i was actively healing
Main Menu -> Active Help
Healer first for chocobo because it's always nice to have a pocket healer (and choco regen/choco heal are pretty strong). It will still do dps without building the dps tree, and it's a terrible tank.
@wet cradle i checked there but im looking for the Astrologian guage thingy
Character Menu -> Actions & Traits -> questionmark icon on the bottom
What class do you heal as @leaden ginkgo
Based on what they were looking for, I'd guess they're AST
Hello i usually heal in every game and want to get away from that..i tried WAR until 80 and i love the playstyle and just dont like tanking.. between Nin, monk, blm, dnc (i dont mind if its ranged or melee) which is more "fun" playstyle wise
Hi! I someone told me that you cannot use the world transfer function if your character is less that 90 days old. Is that correct?
That's pretty subjective. It's going to depend a lot on what you want out of a class.
If your character is on a Preferred server, then yes.
Oh no 😦 So i'll have to stay on my server for 60 more days T_T
Anyway to remove my signature on crafted/syn items?
aw, thanks
i dont necessarily mind not pulling the highest numbers or playing supportish type classes as i main heals..i just dont want to keep healing in every game u know..so i guess something simple to mess around with? after getting WAR to 80 i loved it but cant stand the thought of tanking lol
So of the jobs you listed, I would say that DNC is probably the easiest to just pick up and run with. It's a straightforward combo/support ranged dps class. Push the buttons that glow, and use your dances on cd, basically.
Oh wait! Im on Lamia! looks like i may be able to!! ^^

Do you get xp for killing regular mobs in Bozja like.. At all?
I've been cluster farming/memory & been thinking maybe I should do it as a job I need to get 80 on?
BLM is your standard turret caster/glass cannon, and while their rotation is fairly simple, they depend a lot on being able to maintain astral fire/umbral ice stacks and Enochian, and being able to stand in their Leylines.
@leaden ginkgo skirmiches and CEs mostly give exp. I believe mobs give some exp.
ahh and as ive seen from delubrim and castrum this game is very punishing with movement..ill just level DNC and stick to WAR mainly until i get used to the game then
So ... Uhh .. Do i use diurnal or nocturnal sect ??
Yes.
Basically it will be situational.

if i used 2 ogcds in 1 gcd window that is double weaving, right?
@leaden ginkgo Diurnal is used for regenerating HP.
And Noct is Shield.
Use Diurnal when you're with a scholar
And Noct when you're with a whm
You can use Diurnal with a WHM since HoTs stack
What if im alone ?
Diurnal tends to be easier to use in general since it's a more "pure healing" form.
I prefer Diurnal
Nocturnal is a lot like SCH, so you have to rely on predicting incoming damage rather than reacting to it.
Diurnal for solo-healing is preferable.
it's recommended to use diurnal in most situations
most damage you'll encounter in the game isn't fatal by itself, so shields lose value in those situations
Of course, all of this information is only good until they change AST in 6 months or so.
👍 thanks everyone
Oh, for the shadowbringers relic, when I need bitter memories, do I need to run dungeons as the job that I have signed myself up with, or can I do said level 60 dungeons with any job as long as I have that quest with me?
And can I overcap on bitter memories?
Any job as long as you're on the quest.
Cool, That means I need 24 bitter memories ;-;
Well.. Had... Before I spent them
Does anyone have a relic guide for the Bozja relics btw?
Nvm found it

Is Dark Knight a good tank to learn?
as good as any other really
Am I right in saying the classes/jobs are quite well balanced in this game then ?
i'd argue gnb is one of the more challenging tanks to pick up due to its comparatively higher crucial action count but all the other 3 are about on par
yes, all jobs are balanced
This is more of a gaming PC question but
Can any low tier (under 1K) gaming PC play FFXIV
Sweet, Dark Knight looks cool so think I might learn it
Like, a 650 dollar gaming desktop
it used to run on ps3 so, probably
!faq meta
Guys how do I get my friends to stick with this game?
Just did T1 of coil of bahumat for the rewards. Are you allowed to do this multiple times? I remember edan being mentioned as once per turn
I keep trying but they keep quitting and it's making me really sad.
Is Dark Knight hard to play?
can always get the benchmark to see how it runs on what you have
Its quest jobs are also great o/
I don't think so
And no it is not hard at all
No
Ty guys
Imo most tanks are pretty easy except maybe gunbreaker???
The only "hard" thing to use is living dead and you really don't use it
I didn’t look into gunbreaker yet
Dark knight is really fun I main the class.
GNB starts at level 60 so you're introduced to a bunch of skills that you may or may not be familiar with
And that can be overwhelming
I’m thinking about learning another DPS role as I’m not really enjoying Bard so I was thinking Black Mage and for tank of course Dark Knight
I played a lot of black mage
Fun?
and if you don't enjoy slow combat I really don't recc black mage
Dark knight tanks seem really popular
How about Machinist as DPS?
With the stacks
Machinist and Dancer are fun
Black mage is has a very low skill floor but the skill ceiling for black mage comes from fight knowledge. So if you don't know all the fights in the game black mage is really bad imo.
I also recommend red mage
I actually unlocked Machinist, is it hard to play?
ranged physicals are not typically very hard
It's a straightforward DPS job
The skills are fun and fast
What would you guys say is the hardest job?
Very mobile
machinist is generally using your combos, keeping your cooldowns on cooldown, and using heat blast appropriately
honestly, i don't think any job is inaccessibly difficult
In my opinion, BLM can be the hardest dps
It's so easy to mess up its rotation
very hard question to answer. Black mage is not mech hard but it's really hard for new players. Imo prob the hardest
black mage can be a challenge because it is a turret caster, and affected quite heavily by movement
yes if you don't know all fight mechs black mage is basically unplayable no utility
so while it is a very static rotation, actual fight mechanics give it its difficulty level
Ah okay I see
so if you can't parse high numbers everyone knows u sux
Is red mage also dps?
Yes
well... no, that's kinda exaggerated but unorganised movement as blm does suck
BLM has really long cast times?
I started FFXIV as a black mage. I encourage every new player to not play black mage as there first class.
Not very long but it has few to no instants
Is red mage easier than black mage?
yes
yes imo
Black mage rewards fight knowledge. With other classes you can practice on dummy, but black mage hardness comes form actual fight mechs. Which you can't practice.
Okay, I just want an easier role to chill on
How long do we need to level up retainer using quick venture (avg 12 times a day). from 1 to 80?
well... yes, you can practice fight mechs
it's not impossible to play blm, don't exaggerate
Does rdm start as a class or is it an unlockable job?
Have you thought about Summoner? As DPS
i advise every new player to just avoid blm. The leveling experience also sucks on the class.
long ass cast times on starting spell as well.
Summoner starts as arcanist right?
yes
Summoner rotation is not super complex but exciting enough at higher level
Black mage has the highest dps though, so if you like high numbers you will love blm.
And very mobile
Summoner strikes the medium of quite low skill floor, relatively decent skill ceiling, high numbers and high mobility with the most instant casts for movement of any caster
rdm unlocks at level 50
But black mage needs good positional?
black mage benefits most from moving as little as possible in situations that it can't deal with
blm does have tools specifically FOR movement
you need perfect positional to play the class in savage raids.
but not on particularly easy access
@tender ice the advantage of playing summoner is that you can switch to scholar to be a healer and share the levels with summoner, so you can get into queues fast as scholar and go back to DPS when convenient
also black mage has no utility and imo it's the most boring class to level by a mile.
out of the dps classes*
You can switch to scholar?
Black mage has no utility to a group to counter the fact it has one of the highest potential dps outputs in the game
Arcanist is the only job that shares 2 classes
If you've played any mmo like WoW with class specialisations/subclasses, scholar and summoner work like that
They share an XP bar
You level as scholar = same level as summoner
although their itemisation is different, so they don't share gear
Healers in this game is insta queue
Ah I was about to ask if they share items
Early level healing however in this game can be very offputting if your coming from a new mmo.
This is the first mmo I’ve put this much time into
With poetocs it's easy to progress both
smn/sch gearing can be deceiving cause their weapons are visually identical
I played ESO back in 2015 or something
but they are different in itemisation
For a few hours
But at level 80 you'll have to put more work into it
It's like not only should you master your rotation but also learn every fight you're doing by heart so you can know exactly where to position yourself (to avoid mechanics and such) and where to exactly move. That's a ton of work imo.
What level are you right now?
hey guys, i was wondering if there is an all hrothgar chat or something of the like, just for chatting with my people
63 on my Bard. Playing through Heavensward
Summoner = int, scholar = mind
Quite honestly - picking up a second class is not much work, and actively encouraged
Why are high allagan artherestone - Body's worth so much and everything else is worth nothing?
They haven't and wouldn't make a job flat inaccessible
I think I cleared HW savage and as a black mage before I had to take a break. The fights as blm were so hard imo.
when I switched over to tanking it was so much easier.
@leaden ginkgo Mad respect!
The raid that drops it is difficult to solo
Even unsynced?
Yes
@tender ice look into arcanist, you might like it for the versatility of dps for questing/overworld and being a healer for instances cause the MSQ forces you into it
clarification, msq makes you do dungeons
When playing through the msq it sometimes gives me reward options that aren’t for my class but for others, should I take them or just take the Gil?
at no point does it force you into a specific party role
I’ve been taking the Gil
A dungeon is an instance
Can you sell high allagan on market board?
Yes
If you don't have any actual intentions like desynth with crafters or trading to GC for seals, just take the gil
Lol i mean it forces you into instances, not in being a healer
Right, I thought maybe I should take some for other classes when I eventually level them but I just figure there is no point as I will get stuff from playing their guild quests and duties etc
if you have a higher level job and msq progress when leveling alts, you have a greater perspective on gearing options
I mean, it can be nice to have leveling gear on-hand rather than having to go farm it later.
But you can just Greed on everything in dungeons, so the gear the MSQ gives you will end up being less necessary for alt jobs.
Once I hit level 70 does the Road to 70 de activate even if I wanna level other classes?
Ty
Nope. It will be active for all jobs under level 70
Road to 70 will be active on any sub-70 job
Road to 70 lasts for 3 months
Great thanks
Yes but minimum 90 days
Technically the minimum is 14 days if you create a character the day before the server loses status.
are there any somewhat viable options for making some gil I can use to level my crafters? I'm a level 67 SCH; is the only option continuing doing my MSQ?
I dont think thats accurate
I believe its 90 days from character creation or when server loses preferred status - whichever comes second
I thought it was only 14 days after the server loses status.
Are there any plans for GC ranks to get above Captain?
It's been a while since I last created a character on a preferred server though.
Not currently, no.
woah
Or at least, not that we're aware of.
Does it usually get raised every once in a while? Was there a time in which Captain itself was off limits?
lol
I know. I saw that yesterday and got super confused.
There was. It was... back in Stormblood?
Captain was off limits for a long time, yeah
Doing the MSQ will give you exp and gil. So I suggest you to keep doing it.
You can also have someone help you out (crafting the mats required for your crafters' job quests or collectables)
I see. So there is potential for future content including a new GC rank at some undefined point in the future.
I think Captain became available in like, 4.3 or something? It's been awhile since they added it, but Squadrons weren't always a thing.
hrm... I was doing the ishgard stuff for a while now but I kinda drained like about 150k gil into it already
Squadrons were added in 3.4. Not sure about Captain rank.
I hope they extend squadron into ShB and newer expansions. Dont wanna leave my GC buddies behind 🤷♂️
@flat yew Ishgard stuff can be a bit exhausting.
Do collectables and GC turn ins as well as beast tribes if you have them unlocked!
guys how do i get the million gil for getting to level 30 on a preferred server?
are there any special rewards for squadrons
GC turn ins? I'll take a look into collectables!
@hoary kayak Emotes for the most part
i c
That doesnt exist. You're thinking of a different bonus.
it's level 30 on a new server
One million gil to level 30 on preferred server?? Sounds like something that will inflate gil like crazy
You can get discount coupons for teleports, bonus MGP, etc.
@flat yew If you press Ctrl +U (if you're a keyboard user), you'll find a list that has your Grand Company missions. Those missions give tremendous exp for your crafters/gatherers.
gotcha
Basically like better versions of FC buffs.
ohh, grand company stuff. Thanks, I'll definitely try that!
But for you alone.
I got the 15 days time but not the million gil
Oh. I see.
well how did i get 15 days time then??
because 15 days is for preferred too
The 15 days time is a reward for preferred.
oh ok thx
I got 15 days free cuz they locked me out of my account when I traveled thinking I was some hacker
what's a preferred server?

@flat yew double xp servers
Who trolled?
ahh
To put it simply, its a server that SE is trying to direct players into, population balance, etc. You get a significant buff to exp gains (double xp until level 70 on all classes/jobs) for the duration of it being preferred (or for 90 days - whichever is longer)
I am done questions. Thanks for the help 👋
Nobody trolled. The bot posts the reminder at regular intervals (once per hour - more often when the channel is active)
is that the road to 70 bonus?
Yes
ahhh
Yeah
Its worth noting just since this is being discussed
that Road To 70 applies to both the base exp AND to any other bonuses
so road to 70 will vanish if you don't reach 70 before those 90 days?
If the server stops being preferred AND the time passes, yes
We did a calculation a couple of weeks ago, and including Road to 70, you can get up to something like 327% xp bonus.
Though the exp gain is pretty silly
you dont lose it upon reaching 70 either
guess I've got some more grinding to do then, only got my gatherers to 70 so far
it just applies to any job under 70
When i rerolled last year, i was able to get every job (all combat jobs, all crafters, and all gatherers) to 70 before the time ran out
crafting is such a gil sink
how long did that take lol
not bad
Only a gil sink if you buy materials.
well, true I guess
I do have the gatherers to collect for the leveling process, but I was trying to not use my gatherers for a stupid reason lmao
my gatherers are all lvl 69, how am I supposed to get a nice collection of DoH/DoL for that meme screenshot if I level my gatherers any further
as a paladin shp
should I consider block strength or blockrate more?
because I have 4 shields with drastically better block rate yet worse block strength
Especially if it looks good
Back in 2.0, years ago, there was a difference and it mattered
But once you get out of ARR it stops being a thing that has any real meaning or variance
Salutes, does anyone know about these two questions about mechanics in instances:
-
Does anyone know what the ring in bosses in an edge, for example in Whorleater, means? That the tank and melees should not get more close than that?
-
Does the boss fights and its mechanics change when the instances changes difficulty? (Normal to Hard to Extreme), or is all the same, less bosses with more health and making more damage?
I forgot if I can wear 2 edenmorn rings at the same time
when it comes to stuff other than shields should I go for ilvl or defense?
After ARR that's gonna be the same thing, but before you get out of ARR i would suggest defense is a more important stat because of how weird gear was back then.
for tanks
what is ARR?
Before Heavensward. The base game.
oh alright, is that over after level 60?
I dont know what you mean by "the ring in bosses in an edge" Can you be more specific? Also mechanics tend to change drastically between normal and extreme (or normal and savage)
Over level 50
understood
Any advice on ocean fishing? queueing up for my first time out
still leveling though so I don't have all dem skillz
how do i set up a raise macro on ps4
There is a specific bait based on area that can cause a spectral state. Use it.
