Yes, the tank usually moves to dodge, which is usually necessary when they pull 3-4 trash piles, so I find it easier to just move with the tank while spamming spread shot. I only use flamethrowers at weddings

@south plank Okay, so I just ran a character to level 9 in the Ul'dah zone to see if I could figure out what your friend was having an issue with and I think I figured it out. I'm assuming he got to the instance and saw the sync level of the instance for that quest as 13. That's not the level he needs to be, but rather the maximum level for that quest instance - so if his level were higher than that, it would sync him down to that level, regardless.

Classes and jobs are interconnected. They are essentially extensions of themselves. They are defined by the weapons they use.
Axes: Marauders -> Warriors
Sword/shield: Gladiator -> Paladin
and so on
Marauders/Warriors and Gladiators/Paladins are completely different classes/jobs from eachother.
So if you want to play a paladin you'll have to level up a gladiator to make it become one later at level 30.

Samurai is a special job that starts at level 50 and requires level 50 to unlock. So if you reach level 50 on any job you can accept and complete the quest
There are other jobs like that too, none of the jobs added in expansions are connected to a 'class' and they all start at higher levels than normal

But I don't mean to digress into a discussion, if you want to be a trade mentor then aim for that. It's very easy with the Ishgard restoration 🙂
