if it doesnt, you can force a materia into the gear without a slot

and the materia will turn red in the equipment page

they are "overmelded"

try out dancer at least. it starts at lvl 60 so you can get a feel for it easily

it should be the 1 hour option for ventures

quick venture also gives you random items based on your retainer's gear. better gear = better items generally

micromanaging it is more for crafters/gatherers since you can make them gather materials that you dont need now but you need a stockpile of later on. If you don't want to worry about them too much just do the 18h ventures and they return with some random item + money, though the problem there being you'd need to update their gear every so often to send them on higher level ventures.

you can probably just skip and get an abridge summary of the goings on from somewhere, but do keep in mind the game is slowly teaching you how to play your job. if you skip to the end its gonna be pretty frustrating trying to play a job with 12+ more new skills

you didn't make a mistake but do consider using ranged lb on a really big trash pack of mobs

it hits more targets = more damage

rather than some melee using it as an anime finisher on the last boss

on top of that if there are no melees

thats even moreso the correct choice
