Even with the Hall of the Novice content (which I hope you did for the free gear, at least), healing or tanking a real dungeon when you don't really know what's going on can be a challenge.

@hollow zealot Do the Hall of the Novice training scenarios all the way to the end. You'll get four free pieces of body gear (chest, gloves, legs, boots) and a ring that boosts your xp gains until level 30 and will last you most of the way to level 50 because it's got stats on it.

There should be an NPC in the Adventurer's Guild with a sprout icon in a house shape called The Smith
You can also find him outside almost every early dungeon in the game.
Just talk to him and tell him you want to undergo training.
As a side note: he gives out three different sets of gear - one for casters/healers, one for tanks, and one for physical dps.
So you should do the scenarios once for each type for the sweet, sweet four pieces of gear (the ring is unique, so you can only get it once)

There's not really such a thing as a good job combo, you can ever only be one at a time. If you want to do some 4head shit with jobs, level a healer, you'll get into every instance instantly

I can confirm that buying it on steam will afford you 30 days of free play when purchasing the game. However, once you purchase the game you forfeit your access to the limited free edition of the game.
Advice, in case u don't know: get a reference code from someone for some cute extras.
Choose a preferred server for double xp up to a certain level for 90 days.
Special note: they say special deals are more frequent on the non-steam edition. I can't confirm if this is true. The steam version is separate from the other versions, I don't think it carries the cross-platform functionality for instance. So the steam edition does give some minor drawbacks depending on your future needs.

TL;DR if you're a WoW veteran -
- Story is relevant and good in this game. Its not written by incompetent morons like at Blizzard. Take the time to enjoy it because its a core feature of the game
- You only need one character (which can level up every "class"), and nothing on character creation has any impact on player power.
- Classes in this game are extremely well balanced, so play what you think is fun. Usually the split between best and worst is less than 10%, unlike WoW where it can be over 100%.
I'd say those are the core three things that if you're used to WoW will be strange or different

Everything in this game is initially locked. Story level is the main culprit, but more importantly the two others mentioned above. So doing those are what matters. Even character level is irrelevant since it's always going to be higher than story level.
For this reason it's recommended to level a single class to max level before starting a second. The exception being if you find you've chosen the wrong class for you.

One time a bunch of my friends and I got together - two of them were still in the SB story - and two of us with the 4-man mounts drove the group around to the different quest locations. We all hung out in Discord and those of us who had done the story would just vague the ones who hadn't, stuff like "oh, you're going to have to leave the group now. That's not entirely accurate. Switching to rogue/ninja requires level 10 on your first job and access to Limsa. Level 30 is for upgrading marauder to warrior (and also requires a level 20 msq).

endgame raids are hard, the most advanced groups and everyone else goes into them on release with no prior experience and they prog(ress) it, so figure out what the boss does (mechanics) and how it should be handled, it's a lengthy process so being at that "stage" of most recent raids where you/your group are learning how to clear it is called prog, for the best players prog takes around 3-4 days of nonstop playing 18h+ a day, for more casual players, even with guides to each fight, it can take a week, a month or 6 months, depending on player skill and other factors

As ranged physical dps, they don't have to worry about standing still to cast, monitoring the party's health, their MP, or tankbusters, so mechanics are easy. From a rotation standpoint, their most basic rotation is simply following combos and using their Steps on cd.
However since they're a ShB expansion class, they're not available on free trial.

For classes you can play from 1, I would say ARC would fall under the "easy class" category as well, although they do tend to get a little more complex as you get into higher levels where you have song management, monitoring your dots, and dealing with procs.

I was... hdmi is capable of 144hz at 1080p, I had the 144hz option in nvidia control pannel, and I switched sometimes from 60 to 144 and big difference
