when i was watching some fights on e9s, in some parties that knew fight really well had WHM's that rarely used healing aside of Assize, rest was basically dot/glare, and i was wondering, why's that? in group that only takes damage that's required to take AST can handle healing my themselfs? Or do AST simply loose less with GCD healing comparing to WHM?

along with sufficient mitigation from the party

it's pretty normal to have little to no healing gcds across both healers in high end play

just requires careful planning in some instances

The most amount of rested experience you can have at once is one and a half levels of experience. That means that lower level jobs use up the rested experience faster than higher level jobs do.

With all the things going on, unless you're specifically looking for the uses (which we were after you said you didn't see the WHM using any healing other than Assize) it's definitely possible to miss the Asylum bubble, which is relatively pale, or the Rapture flowers.

Yeah, you need to do more MSQ then. The 51-60 job quests are locked behind completion of ARR.

Similarly you'll need to finish HW before you get access to the 61-70 job quests.

@lament basalt i have come from wow after years of playing it and i tanked for a while in WoW, and i can say that there are similarities (aggro), i do not have a max level tank yet, but i prefer tanking in ff14 to wow, wow feels like a hack and slash like diablo3 nowadays...at least to me anyways...i find tanking in ff14 HARD but i like the fact that it is...so much more

I'd say the biggest difference is that in XIV the flow of fights tends to be a lot more scripted, so you can learn the right pattern and timing to use your big cds rather than in WoW where the cds for enemy abilities are a bit more chaotic and require addons to keep track of when various mechanics happen.

Really the only plugin/addon that people use is ACT, and that's primarily a damage meter. There isn't really a need for things like DBM/Bigwigs, or Weakauras because that sort of thing is baked into XIV's systems.

'When can I get my first mount?'

The quest that allows you to use mounts, 'My Little Chocobo' is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 'The Company You Keep'. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose and you'll need to buy the Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 needed Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes after 'The Company You Keep'.

'Are there any differences between mounts?'

Besides looks, all mounts are the same speed along with being able to fly. Some mounts allow multiple people to ride at once.

'Can I make my mount faster?'

Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

It's basically a multiplier on your stats, which is determined per job

The math is funky, and I don't recall the damage calculation off the top of my head

But it's why you can't determine jobs damage just based off potency because each job has a different multiplier

Because while melee/physical DPS multiplier might be lower than caster DPS, physical also gets autoattacks as an example

And then some jobs just break that, for example Black Mage having the Astral Fire multiplier on top

Which world should I pick?

You can play on any world on any datacenter within FFXIV. Aside from the languages spoken, the physical location of the servers, and the status of each world, there are no major differences.

it's weird that regens preety much always stack, but shields dont, especially given in raw value regens seems preety much always better, unless shields primary usage is meant to be allowing you to survive stuff you normally wouldnt be able to, or makeup lack of stat from non-bis gear if you'd not be able to survive an attack otherway?

@frozen girder teamcraft has a community rotations section you could use to help you out. You're using a lot of prep touchs and they're crippling your cp count. Use prudent touch as well. Also get closer to completing the craft before you start adding quality
