Of course, even if you practice against dummy theoretical best rotation, you wont be able to apply it for most of the fights where there's any moving involved, especially from the boss. Knowing mechanic will allow you to decrese the downtime as much as possible tho, because you'll be able to position in advance if possible, or at least something wont take you by surprise so you wont panic press buttons which also happens, especially for sapplings (like me) ;^)

Go into an inn and there's a piece of furniture called a glamour dresser. Interact with that and at the bottom of it's window is a button called "Edit Glamour Plates". That allows you to create and save sets.

I actually wish someone told me about that before I decided to avoid hitting level 80 (I like casually taking my time with content in FFXIV, and I avoided bringing anything to level 80 because I wanted to make it so when I do advance through the game, I'm still making use of any EXP I receive. Current tomestones are for level 80 content anyways, so they're worthless for leveling jobs. If you don't like the job you're using, don't bother getting a class to 80 before switching. Just switch.

There is no hidden bonus for executing non-positional attacks from behind/flank.

When you are fighting higher level mobs, you have a chance to miss which gets higher the larger the level distance

depends heavily on class too. paladin, for example wants specifically 2.40 to 2.42 sks so that they can fit two goring blades into their fight or flight window
others like rdm/summoner avoid sps to stay at 2.50 gcd
