Well the game is rather open in that regard. You can either work towards clearing the current raid tier (Eden 9 to 12) or get some glams or level some other classes or wait for the Ishgard restoration patch thats around the corner so you can do crafter ranking. the world is your oyster.

but as Kael said, even as new player i can see that ALOT of mechanics are being repeated, and mixed diffrently together, so overally it's not really hard to be somewhat prepered for next dungeons, as it'll mostly be same thing mechanic wise, with 1/2 new things at best sometimes.
