Glamour FAQ

'What is Glamour and how do I unlock it?'

Glamour is the process of changing an equipment's look into a different item with the use of Glamour Prisms. You can unlock the ability to glamour by doing the level 15 quests 'If I Had a Glamour' in Vesper Bay, West Thanalan. Although not required, you can unlock the ability to dye gear with the nearby quest 'Color Your World'. You can get the Orange Juice needed by talking to the nearby Merchant & Mender. Items used for glamouring are not lost upon use.

'How do I glamour? Where do I get more Prisms?'

Glamouring is done by right-clicking (Square or X on controllers) on the equipment you want to glamour and choosing the option 'Cast Glamour'. After clicking this you choose the item you want the appearance on the right half of the menu that opened up. You can get more Glamour Prisms by either crafting them after completing the quest 'Absolutely Glamourous', buying them from your Grand Company Quartermaster, or buying them from the marketboard.

"What is the Glamour Dresser?"

The Glamour Dresser allows you to glamour an entire set of equipment at once when in a city or town. You can find the dresser in your inn room at any of the Adventurer's guilds.

"How do I use it?"

In order to use the Glamour Dresser you need to first put the items you want to use for glamour inside of it. This requires a one-time cost of one Glamour Prism per item. You're able to safely take out the items, but you'll need to pay another Glamour Prism to put it back into the Dresser. After you have put in the glamour items you want to use for your set you'll want to click on "Edit Glamour Plates".

When the plate window opens up you can select the stored glamours you have onto the slots of the plate to create the set you desire. Once you're satisfied with your glamour click on "Save". You can now apply your Glamour Plate by accessing the Character menu, clicking the Glamour Plate button, and choosing the Plate that you have made.

I am undertaking the daunting task of acquiring Thyrus. I have to make the something mad wand through alchemy, which I’ve never ever done. It says the item requires an alchemist level of 50 - as someone who has only been a DoM, does it take a long time to level up an alchemist? Specifically from 1-50?

I just started the a realm awoken questline, it seems quite long and none of these quests give any EXP and I want to switch to dancer for some variety when doing them. the realm awoken questline are the quests in between ARR and HW. they give pretty bad exp because those were designed for level-capped characters. The fastest way is actually to do them and reach HW to unlock the lvl 51+ dungeons. Else, its just roulettes and non-lvl 50 dungeons.

-I'm in the middle of HW but my memory of ARR is fuzzy. Can I access the new game plus replay of ARR content now? Last I checked it hadn't been patched it, and it wasn't clear if I'd need to finish all of Shadowbringers first..?
-if not available, can I start a new character and mainline the main quest w/o having to do ANY side quests or will I occasionally be gated and have to do side quests? My goal would just be replaying the main quest.

As for gating - the pruning and tweaks to the ARR questline has actually made the level gates that used to exist basically non-existent. I was able (on a new character, but with the preorder earring and Brand New Ring buffs to xp) to get almost the entire way through the ARR MSQ without needing to do any additional content for xp, and when I did, it amounted only to a dungeon run or two.

'What is Glamour and how do I unlock it?'

Glamour is the process of changing an equipment's look into a different item with the use of Glamour Prisms. You can unlock the ability to glamour by doing the level 15 quests 'If I Had a Glamour' in Vesper Bay, West Thanalan. Although not required, you can unlock the ability to dye gear with the nearby quest 'Color Your World'. You can get the Orange Juice needed by talking to the nearby Merchant & Mender. Items used for glamouring are not lost upon use.

'How do I glamour? Where do I get more Prisms?'

Glamouring is done by right-clicking (Square or X on controllers) on the equipment you want to glamour and choosing the option 'Cast Glamour'. I started trying a few different class and I noticed some of them have more damage when you are behind/next to the enemy, but other than ninja where you can either start behind them with hide or I think later you are able to go into hide other ways, how do these other classes even get to hit behind enemys. I think it was gladiator and puglist

In retrospect, isn't it frowned upon to do wall pulls so large that, despite whether the tank and healer can (barely) handle it, the melee DPS will be a sitting duck half the time since the mob AOEs are going to be so saturated?

Kinda offtopic but also a tip: Contrary to the belief that "healer should rez if you die"..in dungeons, unless you're mid boss fight, this isn't exactly true. rez sickness is a drag, much more so than a sprint/shortcut back.
