When you repair your own gear, the game simply adds 100% to the durability.
So if the durability 67% for example, the resulting Durability is 167% when you self-repair it, NPC menders can only repair up to 100%, so self repair is very useful.

Also because it gets beyond 100% repaired you don't need to repair that much.
It is up to 199% btw. 99% + 100.

Generally speaking, you can use the Augmented poetics gear for 50/60/70 for about 5 levels before dungeon gear starts being better. At 80, it's best to complete the MSQ, since you can get further dungeon gear and endgame tomestones from the level 80 MSQ dungeons.

Yeah I remember my time through them. I just wanted to mix it up for them, but I feel like it gets harder to sell the slog the more I have to try it—they have the sort of attention span that needs the variety.

Post-ARR isn't as much of a slog as it once was. I created a new character for the express purpose of going through the redone MSQ and was pleasantly surprised how quickly it went.
The Crystal Tower is now a required piece of content though (as it relates directly to the ShB MSQ), so that could be an interesting change of pace for them.

Only I275 for the savage raid weapon though, iirc the shire weapons are still 270
Also, I feel the tsukuyomi weapons are still 1.7 mil+ mainly because the material is hard to procure, it's a random chance to show up in a random players inventory, along with the small chance of showing up in the normal loot chest.
Even if we get new primal weapons (Titania and Innocence probs) I indeed have some Immaculate wingblades to turn into weapons, so I'm fine on that front.
