In most cases it will have nothing to do with gear, and everything to do with people just being bad.
If you're dps and being out-dpsed by the tank, you should review your rotation because you're probably doing something wrong.
If you're the healer and being out-dpsed by the tank... that's not a big deal.

Why isn't there hardly any Final Fantasy IV material in this game? I see references to other final fantasys and the game is loaded with Final Fantasy VII references. We have outfits for other Final Fantasy characters but none for FFIV. Not even Rydia which is basically the female mascot of the game. How were people able to ride the cavalry drake into Zahar'ak with aggroing enemies back when it was current? I cannot imagine how that was like. You cannot dismount the drake otherwise you have to start over and the area is full of monsters that will aggro a max level player at that time. You would be defenseless. How did people ever manage?
