You're also never really given a reason to care about the major players in SB on a deep, emotional level. That's where HW (and ShB) get you - they make you emotionally connect with the NPCs in a way the SB failed to.

@lethal gulch Correct. There are a handful of leveling dungeons in the 1-50 section that are optional, as well as "level cap" dungeons at 50/60/70/80 which don't yield as much xp because they were introduced at the level cap for their expansion.

JRPGs like FF are about the journey as much as the destination.

XIV is very player-centric in both design and execution, and focuses on story, lore, and worldbuilding, while WoW is an endgame, high-level-content centric game with an emphasis on quickly grinding to max level and slacking on the lore and story.

@fringe lotus Command missions are required to get the last GC rank. You need to clear five different dungeons on command missions to qualify. Your squad gets exp from doing those just as you do btw.

Btw Dragoon, Monk, and Ninja start as Lancer, Pugilist, and Rogue respectively. And have to be promoted into their jobs later. Samurai has no base class/doesn't require promotion, but you have to be level 50 to unlock it.
