I'm attempting to meld a VIII materia, but it says the selected item's level is too low to maximize the materia's potential. But, I'm able to use VIIIs on 480 items... pretty much the general recommendation is to level them all
gatherers (though fisher can be largely ignored) are going to feed raw materials into the crafters, and crafters are going to feed intermediary materials to each other (barring cul who largely relies on botanist and miner to a minor extent)
also it'll cut down on armoury space since gear is shared between

I've seen people use them as a means of item storage but it requires a third person to exchange items with. Alternatively if you're in multiple raid groups, there is the niche use of using an alt to get around weekly loot locks.
Other than that, yeah, not much reason to have more than one.

You need to do any fate with the yokai watch equipped to get medals for the minions. Once you've gotten a minion, you just need to have the minion out while you complete fates in a zone that's appropriate for that minion @quasi spire

@heady orbit it's a percentage bar on your gear that fills up through use. When spiritbond on a piece of gear reaches 100% you can right-click and select "extract materia" to get a piece of materia
