Nobody does old Savage raids at level because there's no reason whatsoever to (besides fun but that's not enough of a motivator)
Most people get to 80, then go back and steamroll them while they overlevel it

Black Mage is pretty simple for levelling, except its rotation changes a LOT while you level it which might be confusing
And it gets pretty hard at level cap

All I'd recommend is not play SOLEY for raiding as theres only 12 savage and 2 ultimates per xpac and as Fissie said they are released in packs of 4 every 7 months.
