if you're 100% confident you can solo heal for longer and there's a red mage whos willing to chain multiple rezes it could be better to do that as they can res like 2 or 3 more in quick succession if they mp pot and lucid when they get up

its almost like pre-aiming a corner when you're moving in an fps. you dont have to "aim" cause your crosshair is already at head level and where the enemy would be, if an enemy is gonna be there

Like a patch may only have 6-7 MSQ but those quests can still take a few hours depending on how story-heavy they are.
as a semi-extreme example, Patch 5.3 MSQ seems to be taking most players about 3-5 hours or so depending on their speed doing the non-cutscene stuff

|| Scions of the Seventh Dawn. You skipped out where the big bad empire is gearing up for another invasion of Eorzea. There is also that weird secret society of masked people doing bad things too called Ascians. You have a power called the echo which lets you (unwillingly) look into people's pasts and you got a crystal of light after finishing the starting city-state story. Other than that after you joined the Scions you were tasked to deal with Ifrit, a primal summoned by the Amal'jaa. Long story short you get kidnapped and were about to get tempered (primals can basically force people into being slaves of their will) but you find that your echo prevents that from happening and you kill Ifrit. Minfilia just talks about how important the echo is to stopping the primals for that reason. Other than that you generally missed information regarding the cities, the general state of the realm and all that.|| @acoustic osprey

Getting kind of overwhelmed at 80 as a new player

At 80, your biggest priority will probably be getting sufficient gear to do the level 80 instance content like YorHa (Alliance raid) or Eden (Normal raid). Since that's the case, you'll want to do level 80 dungeons to earn tomestones of phantasmagoria and allegory, and use those to purchase gear to allow you to get into those instances.
Look for 
in the Crystarium and Eulmore
Those will unlock the optional (non-MSQ) dungeons which will help fill out your 80/Expert roulette lists, and can be used to earn those tomestones.
Once you've obtained sufficient ilevel, you can go into Eden's Gate (E1-4) and Copied Factory to get a feel for what level 80 group content is like and get additional gear without requiring tomestones.

Keep in mind, this is only one path. If you're not interested in group content, you can simply not focus on gear and instead choose to level another job or pick up a crafting or gathering profession to level.
Although ultimately you will need at least some ilevel to proceed through subsequent parts of the MSQ. The 5.3 content released yesterday has a minimum ilevel requirement of 460.

You can't unlock the additional content until after you've completed at least the 5.0 MSQ. If you have more than 100 quests remaining, you haven't even done that.
So your focus then, should be to finish the MSQ.

Pre-HW jobs are ROG/ACN/MRD (Limsa), LNC/ARC/CNJ (Gridania), and THM/PUG/GLA (Uldah)

all of the "starting level 1" will be available as soon as you reach level 10, but as i mentioned earlier you need lvl 15 MSQ to visit some of their starting locations

You've got to remember that all of the work on this patch was done in an unprescedented setting of all of the teams, including the QA teams, working from home. Some bugs this time are to be expected.
And this patch included major edits to the ARR MSQ as well
