It's kinda just shows you for reference how strong it is compared to other attacks
So an attack of 100 potency will do half the damage of an attack of 200 potency but 100 potency could still be like, 10k damage

not always true, there are certain spots where using more than one cooldown is good, like if its enough to kill you through one cooldown you can either use your invuln or two cooldowns if your invuln is down

Hello, I would like to hear your opinion about my current situation, if you would please help me.
My first job is currently level 55, and I have cleared all the quests up to Ultima Weapon (Praetorium)
I really want to unlock the Machinist to choose and level as my main, but then I'd have to clear 100 quests to get to HW (2.1-2.55) Therefore, I'm thinking about buying the ARR tome of adventure. While I know they're streamlining this on the next patch, I don't really know how much time it would take to paddle the 100 quests right now compared to skipping those and use the time to reach Lv80 and prepare for the next patch (new content)

Gear follows a linear path for the most part. While leveling, your only concern for gear is if its level is higher than what you’ve got.

You can get gear that is only slightly lower ilevel by running the Eden's Verse instances and obtaining one token per week. If you focus things out, you can pick up four accessories in your first week, then any two of helm/gloves/boots in one week as well.
