At higher levels MP-based classes do see some pretty significant drains on their MP, but the physical classes don't use MP at all. There used to be a second resource called TP (technical points) which were used for physical classes, but that was removed in ShB, so now those classes don't require any resource for the majority of their abilities.

I can't speak for DoH/DoL since that's not something I've done much with, but for combat classes your best-buys are the Augmented Scaevan gear for level 70. If/when you purchase ShB, that will last you until the level 75 dungeon, so it's very much worth the poetics tomestones.

I would recommend doing so in a different city than you hired your first in, as the taxes on sales in different locations can be lower at times.
