Dying the item in the dresser doesn't permanently make it that color. It just makes it permanent for that plate, and if you use it on another plate you have to re-apply dye to the new plate otherwise it's it's original color

Sheltron will be stronger with shields that have a higher block strength and worse with shields that have a lower block strength, but it's such a tiny difference that you'd never use that as the determining factor
