How do I change what rank a new member is when they come into an FC? For some reason they get assigned the 6th rank automatically instead of the 8th rank

each class has its own exp bar, so you'll have level it up from lv1 (for the starting classes, expansion jobs start higher)
there's a variety of ways to level up, if you've completed the main scenario quest. Fates, Hunting Log, Palace of the Dead, Dungeons, Beast tribe dailies
some of these things are not immediately available, ofc but as you get higher in level and in the main scenario quest, more things become available
rough general recommendation for leveling alt jobs is: 1-15, hunting logs, fates, palace of the dead. 15+:roulettes, highest level dungeon, palace of the dead/heaven on high

Hey, so I started leveling crafters with that huge crafting guide thats around online with like 300+pages, and I got to the point where my culinary is 37 and the rest are 15-20 and now i'm realizing the additional skills thing is gone and a lot of things changed apparently. The guide had suggested that I Get all crafters to Lv 15
Get Culinarian to Lv 37 for Steady Hand II
Get Carpenter to Lv 50 for Byregot’s Blessing
Get Weaver to Lv 50 for Careful Synthesis II
Get Alchemist to Lv 50 for Comfort Zone
Get all crafters to Lv 50
Get Culinarian to Lv 54 for Muscle Memory
Get Goldsmith to Lv 54 for Maker’s Mark
Do I still need to do things in that order? or does it not matter anymore

and you will need to make the party unsynced in Duty Finder in order for it to count

As for when to install the expansion, there’s not much benefit before hitting level 50 unless you want to use a Fantasia (race change potion) to become one of the expansion races.

@leaden ginkgo Unless you use the graymarket to buy an existing FC with a house then realistically your odds aren't good for at least another 4-5 months when auto demolition for housing resumes
(which hasn't been confirmed but historically auto demo freezes last about 6 months)
Of course that doesn't apply if you move to a world like Spriggan that has abundant small houses available however I'm not aware of any NA worlds that are like that, just EU
