did you buy the other stuff or just the GPU so far
Today in pointless effort
That’s quick and easy
Yeah just gpu, got one at msrp
nice what did you scoop
Plus gotta test if it works :p
IM JOOOOHN MADDDDEEEEN
3070ti fe
very nice
And I'd rather not put it in a box with an ancient psu bidori, don't even know if I have 2x pcie cables for it
Fine 😔

Cant get over how sexy the case looks
hurrah for impulse buying random ssd
What’d you get?
1TB WD Blue SN570
it was on offer
I will use it as main drive if there's no good offer on a better one
but it was like £67, seemed a decent price to just have as secondary nvme
It’s a decent nvme
Wd has been under fire for changing things like the memory controller or something like that
But from my experience nothing bad
Gave one to my brother as a bday gift and it seems to do fine
I figured if I can get a good price on 980 pro I'd get one, if not this'd be fine and cheap enough that if it ends up additional game storage it's all good
I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily worth it if for increased price, the wd one should be fine
Nice
interestingly they're still in stock in nvidia store
Pretty
I told you, you’d be okay lol
Stock is overwhelming for nvidia because nobody is really buying now
That’s why they cut next gen production
I should just not look at stock or prices for gpus now lol
flooded used market, new cards on the horizon
plenty of reasons they'd still be in stock :p
Truck didn't even look more than 1-3 years old so I wonder what happened heh
Nah, 3070-3080 is best value despite vram considering what the 1080-1080ti was
I still can't decide on a cpu
i just don't think the 3070 is all that 🤷♂️
a cheap 5800X
should I spend more and get i7
Considering how shit 20 series was i mean….
these nerds told me 5800x sucks
It’s bad value when 5800x3d exists plus it’s hotter than 5900x usually
£261 vs £430
Yeah that’s the only problem
Cpu market still fucked for you 😭
well, am5 and raptor lake is going to release soon
Never go first gen of the platform
unless you already have am4 then getting a new am4 is not worth it this late into its lifespan
but 12400 is only £190, that might be best bet anyway
They’ve already said they’re continuing it, so still worthwhile to see what they bring
12400/600 would be best
Just make sure it’s the k model for the efficiency cores for extra longevity even if you get a non Z chipset
can I be bothered to overclock, probably not straight away, but maybe later so the z690/12600k could be valid
I am drawn to the fact the 12600k is the current equivalent of the 2500k which is still running fine for me on my spare box
the only caviat is that 12xxx needs windows 11
Was thinking about doing a custom loop like Ice did, but goddamn is that a lot of money:
it does?
No it doesn’t
It was proven to make little to no difference
I've heard that it does need it tho, wtf is all of my knowledge lol
buy a cheap motherboard
that is a ton of cash, what will you gain?
don't oc
Granted, I already have 3 front case fans, so I don't think I need those in this recommendation, and I might also have an iCue Commander module as well
Nah the task scheduler handles it better but not needed
I was under the impression that 12xxx was windows 11 only because of the way their cores work
There’s tons of videos on it
I never really messed around with the RGB so I dont remember which module I have
you think b660m/12400?
i'd probs go 12600k for ~balance~
then the extra 80 quid for a z690 would be logical
So if I dropped those out of the invoice it would be more like $450. I wanted to get it ahead of 13900 this fall bc I predict stock of stuff will become scarce so better to plan ahead
how so?
nerdori said I need z chipset for ecores
ohh, well okay then
No
I didn’t say that
I said K processor for e cores
Z chipset is only for overclocking
oh hmm
I currently have a 10 year old H100i on my 9900K, so I'd rather leave that with the CPU since its only 240mm and get a new one with the 360mm rad bc I assume the 13900K will need better cooling than that
And z gives extra pcie lanes but that’s moot when you’re not needing all of them
If you want lanes and no overclocking there’s h70 chipset or whatever it is
That is true, but board makers tend to also put the better features only in the Z boards as well. IE: could you get B660 with 2.5gbe, wifi, etc.
Most people don’t need 2.5gbe
A lot of places are barely getting one lol
if I'm not overclocking, is hyper 212 enough for 12600k on a b660m?
yea
intel stuff runs hot
hyper 212 may be ok to run at base clocks or a tad higher but you will not get much more out of it
I think
interesting, the cheapest asus b660m is only 40-50 cheaper than an asus z690
probably need new mounting hw
Yeah but 40-50 that you could splurge on cooler
Yeah prices on 12th gen are pretty bork bc of covid shortages and tariffs
I'm hoping board prices are a bit more reasonable for 13th

I have a new in box Hyper 212 if you want to buy it off me. Didn't fit my server so its been collecting dust bc I waited too long to return it
Yeah, that’ll do 🙏
it'd cost more to ship to UK than the £28 for new
CL18
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/DtJ3H2 maybe that, add in a 980 pro
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600K, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, NZXT H510 Flow ATX Mid Tower
what's wrong with the ram
It’s fine for on a budget
Most people it won’t make a meaningful difference
you should be able to get 3600 CL16 "on a budget"
the dark rock pro 4 is good got overpriced, get the scythe fuma 2 or the deepcool AK620 instead
I'd actually prefer 10gbe bc I'm going to get a new switch in planning for an eventual NAS in the next year
bidori told me the dark rock pro 4 is as good as the noctua dh15
I have had my eye on a AK620, but really my 5600X kicks out so little heat it is a bit moot
it is, they're just talking price
yeah but those are old at this point and cost too much
Choose Memory
which ram
they're like 6 pound cheaper
so it's a meaningless difference pretty much between the 3
the fuma 2 is like 50 euro here
yeah, especially in 16 gb sticks it gets pricey real quick
maybe that is why
that's why cl 18 is worth it vs 16
55 pounds
i doubt shue will use 32gb t b h but i understand the want for it
it's to cover the vram bottlenecks in the future
because lets be honest, 8gb is going to get outdated pretty quick
and I figured 3600 was more important that CL
the consoles have more than that by a bit and given consoles usually drive next gen specs for games goodbye 30 series because of vram
the speed is generally yeah
it is a bit of both
3600 CL18 is basically just 3200 CL16
CL does make a difference but not enough to justify say a 50 pound increase or something
if going intel though, won't make much difference
guess that's true
I held off on buying a 5800x or the x3d(due to price) so I am curious as to what new toys amd can come up with on this aging platform
there's 3600/16 for 12 quid more
then yeah, get that
or corsair is 142
well the rumor is new x3d coming for am4 but we'll see
i'd go for kingston just to save more
not like there is going to be much difference anyways
I like corsair, usually reliable for me
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600K, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, NZXT H510 Flow ATX Mid Tower
i mean that's up to you, it is your money after all lol
I should watch a review of that case
i went cheap on my ram and it works fine for me
h510 flow is good, h510 regular is shit
kingston r gud tbh
that's the moral of the review
1k pounds seems so expensive without a gpu, prices have gone to shit lol
I meant more like, fit in fat fingers
that's with gpu
oh wait nvm
nope
no this'll be near £1600
idk maybe I can skip the 980 pro like bidori says
do you earn samsung ssd money
i mean 1600 that lasts going based on your current pc like 6+ years is pretty good
you can save a few pounds here and there on that build without losing any worthwhile performance
get another wd blue and save 50 pounds
but the 980 pro is 2x the speed and pcie4
do you need the speed
the 2x speed will not be noticeable for you 99% chance
I've never had an MSI board and that scares me
"do I really need this" is the question here for some of those choices
love my msi board
ssds are so quick these days that they don't really make a difference for consumers
I mean I probably don't need 2x nvme
2x nvme is more common than going balls to the wall samsung ssd lol
people who get samsung ssds have money to blow
you don't need one nvme unless you have a specific application in mind for it, loading times vs sata are negligible rn
if you care about saving some money anyway
the kingston on there was on offer today, ordered it for £67, cheaper than a sata 1tb
my 850 Pro has been solid tbh
i got some seagate nvmes on sale and called it a day
since my intel nvme fried itself lol
word of advice do not go intel nvme 🙏
my cpu would reject it
lmfao
my pc rejected it by frying it
although it lasted like 4 years
but that's not really long considering nvme 😭
@tame fulcrum Warning: The MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard supports the Intel Core i5-12600K 3.7 GHz 10-Core Processor with BIOS version 7D25v11. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, upgrading the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU.

I hope ill be fine with 850 with the 3080 and 13900
do coolers ship with paste these days?
oh I'm gonna get the noctua
LOL
the amazon listing confirms it has the right bracket and paste
🙏 yeah even if they didn't they ship it for free usually
i'd sooner go noctua than buy a bequiet for the same money
i mean bequiet is quite literally quieter 😭
yeah because that's half price vs msrp lol
you literally got 2 for the price of one for that
actually way less
i was thinking 1 tb price
£16 less for the bequiet, but eh I'll get noctua
I already have a bunch of case fans
aka d15 poverty

Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler idk this
name a better case then
make sure you're dropping £300 on case fans too
that's literally all noctuas now
Corsair 4000D Airflow?
another good case 🙏
fractal design meshify c
out of here with that mini bullshit
you mean this?
idgaf about colour hah
imagine buying black noctua, that's like buying a yellow ferrari
you pay more for the black version pretty sure
it's not even listed
wasn't meant to reply to that lol, was supposed to be for the chromax earlier
the full size dh15 is black and cheaper
that's d15 chromax
just the black version
yeah I meant the d15 black is cheaper than brown
2 fans > 1 fan
can I OC the 12600k on it later?
people will laugh at the s
you won't be able to sleep at night knowing you bought an s
yes
SPEEDY IS LAUGHING AT IT
well no shit, the 12900k does more than 230w at times
the cooler is only rated for like 210-230
what's a better case that'll fit the dh15 properly?
antec 1200
Ice telling me to spend 2x as much on a case when he knows how poor I am
have you tried having more money
is this too tall
this is exhausting
it looks great because no rgb
Max cooler height: 165 mm
no, that's because you're going after hobbyist shit
noctua say it fits
most people don't custom loop smh
my ram
I trust noctua
good
good, as you should
@tame fulcrum Do you know, do you need the static pressure fans for the corsair watercooling? I looked up the configurator and its trying to sell me on fans, but the Corsair 570X already comes with decent front fans, so I would think I don't need those then
i turned the rgb off on my viper 8k the other day
how do I make sure that corsair ram fits though
looks like $3 chinese mouse now
nerds on tomshardware say they fit under a dh15

Anyone here have opinions on VPN? I was using CyberGhost and they have a deal now that looks but I was thinking maybe I should try other/better ones, don't have much experience. I'm not a heavy user though, just use it sometimes when I'm abroad for TV channels in my home country and stuff like that.
Anyone have a reccommendation/dis-?
Actually I dont think they're even the static pressure fans bc they say LL which is the light ring and the static ones I think prefix with SP
look at you with your bougie £180 motherboard
you have your moments Ice
send me 12900k
I can drop it on this board when you upgrade
least the design is fairly understated, those asus prime boards are pretty good in that regard
yeah I can use this for 6 months until you can't resist a 13900k when Shinon goes HOLY SHIT I LOVE MY NEW CPU
sorry my man, you got ignored a bit, I don't personally use a VPN... I suggest starting a thread in #952326072542847016 for visibility
nope
No problem, I thought tech support was for problem solving but I'll try there, thanks.
I'm not 100% discounting the 7000 series, but I'd like to keep my current ram and its B-die 3200 and I know ryzen wants at least 3600
it evolved recently, we shitpost tech in here more and help over there, you're not wrong to ask here though, just can get missed
eh, 3200 is fine for ryzen
So when they both come out ill look at benchmarks and decide then
yeah, 3733 was like the peak for 5000 series or something like that
but 3200 was about average best
i hope to get at least 5 years out of my machine. considering ff14 is the most intensive game i've played in a year i think that should be achievable
It should be fine as long as you don't do a ton of multitasking
Although you will probably want to do one GPU upgrade at some point
Well, I say that but if you dont play AAA then it could be fine. Especially if you stick to 1080p or 1440p
monitor is 1440 165hz
1440p is a 40% pixel uplift from 1080p so that can really tank fps
i'm sorry for your loss 🙏
I've got 9900k (8c16t) 3200 cas14 b-die @ 3600, and 3080 10gb so I don't really need an upgrade but I make enough so I'm fine with buying a new CPU and mobo atm and flip my current to a friend for a couple hundred
i hate you
Yeah 4K is really nice for productivity but I wouldn't care to have it for gaming bc the FPS drop isnt worth it
i should go 4k
not with that gpu
Then I figure when 15th gen comes out I'll flip it again and go DDR5 then
i spend 99% of my time on discord/youtube so

sorry, ddr6 by then /j
dual 4K
DDR5 will be mature and prices down and that will be the 2nd gen of their chiplet architecture so theoretically they will have the kinks ironed out then
😔
what do you mean 2nd gen
smh
shame
it's too far out to say if it'll be 2nd gen chiplet from intel
14th gen is going to be Intel's first gen using the AMD-style chiplet design
The hardware roadmaps for 14th and 15th basics were already leaked
eh we'll see
i see there being delays based on gpu and i'm going to guess cpu lmao
we'll see how accurate it was come later
yeah but it's still early enough it might have changed
Something scheduled to ship in a year is not that early when it comes to processors. 15th gen being too early? Sure. They don't even have engineering samples yet for those
i expect delays
delay deez nuts
One downside to 7000 series is its DDR5 only
Which being AMD also means
bc they tend to be touchy when it deals with handling new ram
I mean we don’t know yet since we haven’t seen the new socket and everything in action
Not to mention we don’t know how 13th gen will be limited on older motherboards
https://www.amazon.co.uk/AOC-Gaming-Q27G2S-Compatible-DisplayPort/dp/B09KRZGHK3 vs https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-VG271UPbmiipfx-Gaming-Monitor-FreeSync/dp/B09444FNW9
2560 x 1440 resolution, Quad HD (QHD) offers superior picture quality and sharp imagery that reveals the finest details. The widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio provides plenty of space to spread out and work, plus allows you to enjoy games or movies in their original size
The 27 Inch Nitro VG271UPbmiipfx monitor from Acer is designed for gaming, with a lightning-fast refresh rate and other premium features. With a Quad HD resolution the VG271UP has over 75% more pixels than a conventional Full HD screen, meaning all your games will be displayed in exquisite detail...
the AOC mentions gsync and is cheaper
is AOC good/bad?
is that really £100 better than the AOC?
Gsync compatible meaning vrr
Gsync is a full blown module in a monitor so being compatible means basically nothing except variable refresh rate
Also freesync premium pro is amds highest variable refresh rate so it’s atleast better for sure in that regard
so ignore the gsync nonsense, they look very similar specs but price spread a lot
Unless it just says gsync yeah, pretty much ignore it
is freesync premium pro applicable to nvidia gpus though?
It’s guaranteed to be better for variable refresh rate since it’s rated for a wider range of fps
probably not
but it is my monitor :)
there are some good deals occasionally via dell but eh
I bought a dell 23" ips many years ago, that sucker was incredible
yeah i've only had dell since 2010
although I don't think the panel quality is as good as my older ultrasharp
simply because I have a spot of blacklight bleed and a spot of ips glow...
i was too lazy to swap it
I'd prefer to spend less, will see what deals come up
600 gbp gpu, 200 gbp monitor
2 quid cheaper direct from dell lol

would prefer to stay under 300
Nothing wrong with that 🙏

sometimes I think I shouldn't have upgraded from my Dell U2417H
the picture quality was so good
wonder what a 4K ultrasharp costs
Expensive af

i wouldn't touch samsung with a bargepole

are asus monitors good?
16:10 and only 350cd/m wtf
Proart is god tier atm
Alao wtf is that response time… 8ms lowest being 5ms
That ghosting will likely be terrible 😭
this is perfect for a cringe anime build
now do a Korone one
I owned one
First day I brought it home I was like holy shit
I had a 22” 1680x1050 monitor before
Thing was just massive
i had a 22" 1680x1050 too, which felt like a scam because a year later they started making 22" 1080p monitors
mine was a HP w2207h
Ah alright I had some acer monitor
my friend went for a cheap 24" 1920x1200 acer, cost about the same as my hp
seething
I actually kinda prefer 16:10 to 16:9 as a monitor but its hard to find them
i remember when my friend went widescreen, mad jelly
he only had a 19" 1440x900 display though lol
coming from a CRT while I had a crappy 1280x1024 LCD
The configurator example here... are they expecting me to blow the hot air into the case thru the rad or are you supposed to blow it out the front?
Lord help me for what I am about to do
Wtf is a Maxsun? And $200 for 16gb of DDR4? That's crazy
Maxsun is a China AIB I think
I am signing a contract with the devil that allows me to gain fame by making a cringe anime build
just buy basic black parts like me, no rgb
Oh I didn't see it was a waifu card
It would probably be cheaper to just get a decal and an x-acto blade and cut your own to size on an existing card heh
put it into the hakos bae case
Levant is here to talk shit about my build and make me buy more expensive shit
i mean
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600K, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, NZXT H510 Flow ATX Mid Tower
The Hakos case looks like the regular Hyte case with a decal on the window
look at it and give a sensible opinion Levant
its fine though?
That's not a bad deal actually considering the case is $200 and you get the deskpad as well
you sure you don't wanna go for a 1000W psu though?
$80 for the deskpad and waifu wrap
1000w for an i5 and 3070ti? overkill no?
won't matter much, if it's a good power supply it won't trip from it
i'm assuming you already checked cooler clearance?
noctua says it fits the case, nerds on tomshardware say the ram fits under the cooler
iirc i had the same ram and it slightly interfered with the 2nd fan
so it had to be put slightly higher
I can't find any pink motherboards

do you have stickers on your car?
they are very popular here but they're expensive :\
like literally every time I leave the house I see a car with anime stickers
nah this isn't itasha it's just little stickers mostly the 'peeker' kind
itasha is crazy expensive
^ i see those a lot
including somehow hisoka lmao
there's someone that lives in an apartment by mcdonalds that has a hisoka sticker i think

33% on top of the 3090 already?
3090 Ti(ti)
isn't a ti more like 10%
tdp is some bullshit but if the 3090 is supposed to be a 350w the 3090 Ti is 450 but we know that's not how it works
I'm sure mine draws almost 500 under heavy
@tame fulcrum ship me a 4080 when it drops
Maybe both our curses will negate each other
how well would this laptop play ffxiv?
supposedly the igpu on this is a beast and can play cyberpunk at 1080p at 30 fps
XIV is very CPU limited
if you don't need it to run at, like, 200 hz it's probably fine for xiv honestly
it's only 1080, I bet he could get away with 1080/60
wouldn't want to try to run XIV at 4k on a laptop yet 😔
how is the cpu of this laptop for this game then
¯_(ツ)_/¯
without having one I can't tell you anything about how XIV will play on it
other than a general warning that XIV likes as much CPU performance as you can throw at it
I'm sure it's fine but it won't be blazin fast
This Equinox is held back by its turbo I-4 engine, lazy transmission, and limited cargo room.
based chevy engineering
imagine terminating all your sedans just to make this piece of shit
ti according to nvidia is the 450 already so it is the same
and that doesn't even count aib models
isn't the AIB stuff mostly overengineering the PCB to accept those XXXTREME overclocks
although getting 50% faster switching for even 40% power increase is bonkers efficiency improvements
like, you can double your power consumption going up 15% on a CPU
not even hitting 1:1 power/frequency is crazy
i mean it's not an increase of efficiency necessarily
given that the rumor is 16384 cuda cores while the 3090ti has 10752 cuda cores
60% more cores?
52% roughly
nerds
looking at you ed
is this good? ^
52% core increase with "the same power draw" as a 3090ti but an increase of 30% vs a 3090
thermoelectricity
heat sand with 'free' solar energy > sand stays hot months > suck off heat in winter
sounds great like that
I mean, it's just above-ground geothermal
I guess it's still the old problem of the countries that generate the most solar power don't need as much heating
yeah, sun coverage is a thing
like I'm 100% certain new mexico doesn't need this sand battery thing lmao
I mean if they can figure out how to get solar energy to power AC without all the other crap that comes with AC then there's that
Unfortunately, solar power and hot climates in general are kind of a terrible combination due to the batteries' potential for rather violent combustion.
hot climates are better off using gravity batteries anyway
oh yeah, dimberest i expect that the power efficiency is mainly from them going to tsmc (i believe this series is on tsmc)
since samsung was one of the reasons the other cards were power hungry
wasn't it also because the samsung process was some weird low power node that nvidia repurposed since TSMC told them to eat shit
tsmc told them to eat shit because nvidia tried to play games with tsmc lol
but yeah something like that
I thought TSMC basically told everyone to pound sand last year because apple bought literally all the fab time to make M1
no, if i recall correctly it was because nvidia wanted a better deal or some shit and was doing some mind game to try and get it and tsmc wasn't having it
if that was the case amd wouldn't have used tsmc lol
didn't AMD have to push their releases back because of the scheduling?
they only really pushed one back as far as i know and that was the 6900xt
they moved it to december vs the rest
i could be wrong on that one though, i don't remember
poggin, time to short nvidia shares
they've been saying that for a while i posted it already 😭
its true icehunter
rumor within the industry is they delaying 4k series by at least a month to compensate i think it will be more
probably delay until 2023 just to make sure the market is nice and tight
lmao
what they don't realize is people aren't buying for more than just crypto, they know the next gen is almost here
it's also the middle of general market weakness
so there's not a lot of capex to begin with
not surprising, that was the beginning of the end for crypto bros and the removal of jpow liquidity
open a UK branch and get me a discount
just a small request
Lmao
😛
Hi! I'm looking for recommendations on Keyboards and Mice to play ffxiv on PS5. my current budget is around 100-200 USD
What is it about tech people wearing leather jackets? Doesn't the head of AMD wear one as well and Bethesda and I vaguely remember a few others doing keynotes wearing them
no, she doesn't
it's been an nvidia ceo staple for a while lol
what do you look for in a keyboard?
such as size, mechanical, quiet/noisy etc
they're all huge dorks who think wearing a leather jacket makes them look cool
Errr... I have no clue, I haven’t seen any
lisa su just wears a blazer jacket usually never a leather jacket lol
If anything it’s patagonia stuff
Uhm, well I don't really have anything in mind. I've always played on laptops so I wouldn't know what to look for in a keyboard
maybe something rather medium? not too small not too big?
are you used to a numpad/do you want one?
Yeah, I'm used to numpads.
I guess it would be nice if it had one, altough I'm not sure if numpads work on console?
i mean i can't see why not although i've never tried
oh yeah, I found a hall effect keyboard on kickstarter
and epomaker has a 96% on kickstarter too
now idk if all of it will work on console but i imagine it should
might want to double check in #questions-and-help for more specific questions
damn, 502 hero on sale for 40 dollars
numpad worked on ps4 when I used it back in SB
Halleffx link pls
If you were to tell me dodge and Chevrolet had higher quality rankings than Toyota I’d call you a moron
Yet here we are

Maybe GM finally fixed the lifters in the Silverado
FUCK U
Change your name
done
Lol
@hard drift Thanks a lot, I'll try to see if any store here sells any of those. 😄
🙏 hopefully they do
logitech should ship globally i believe?
and maybe glorious
Superior korean brand genesis numba wan
GLORIOUS GENERAL MOTORS
Dodge with fewer issues than ram, but jeep and chrysler and fiat not on the list
:OmegaLUL:
That list entirely depends on what sort of problems. If it was 50 per 100 but that meant 50% of the vehicles blew their engine after 10k miles that would be a lot worse than something like cracked weather seals or something
It was based on initial issues for the first 6 months I think. So it wasn’t based on major issues that crop up but any issues at all like fit and finish and annoying software bugs
I’ve been following the new tundra and fuck sakes Toyota has been doing a bad job with it. Seen tons of people complaining about transfer case issues, poor interior fit and finish, hard to use infotainment, waste gate issues and more
I know it’s new but Jesus
Tesla at the bottom of that list? heh
They didn’t even agree to be on the list LMAO
B-but we buy Chevy and dodge to fix them
iirc consumer reports considers complaints about navigation units a reliability issue
what would get weird is if you take cars from 2 different brands that use the same platform/engine/etc and find they have drastically different reliability figures
like toyota 86 vs subaru br-z
those kinda surveys are much harder lol
I've never had an issue with a car in the first 6 months
tbh I probably should have complained about the paint job on my jeep's tailgate lol. it was terrible.
and somehow very common
that white outline XD

PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700K, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, NZXT H510 Flow ATX Mid Tower
Now the 12700k???
replacing the 12600k with 12700k is a great idea, and wouldn't need to change anything else, right?
Should be fine for everything
I'm thinking longevity, that extra £100-110 should make it stretch its life a bit
mhmm
Only thing to worry about is the cpu/gpu boosting tripping psu
how long are you thinking? XD
It would’ve lived a while even with 12600k lol
6p cores +4 e cores
I won't spend on upgrades, so like, thinking maybe better to spend a little more now
850 is recommended for a 3080 even, the 3070ti will be fine
yeah
850w RMx should be ok
totally fine
I mean yeah but longevity is fine with either since it’s not like you’re playing triple a stuff
i'd even go as far as saying that's the ideal power supply lol
That estimated is also based on peak draw from the card, which you won't be doing very often
I do play other games, but I'm also going to have to fuck with UE5
I ran my 9700k+3080ti off a 750w psu for a while
it still worked most of the time.....
that said, the finicky issues I was having with crashing at almost-idle seem to have totally disappeared since swapping the PSU out with a 1000w unit
big difference between 3070ti and 3080ti though
I'm being patient Ice
shue sorry, what I meant was 850 should be totally fine ^^
prime day next week, might get a bargain on something
i have no idea how the 12600k compares
Not power wise
It’s 60w
🙏
How much is 3070ti vs 3080ti?
More than that likely
Unless next gen consoles go up that much pushing games quicker
XD
hell I think I could go 7-10 years off a 12700k if I really felt like it
but I like shiny new toys sometimes
5-7 years should be np since not many games go deep on multicore yet
hmm 12700k is already on offer on amazon
The only ones that really get into that are sim games like Satisfactory, Dyson, Timberborn, etc.
maybe I should just buy it
It’ll be fine even then as long as shue doesn’t go too high on resolution killing the gpu lol
The average game is only going to address 2-4 cores atm
If shue stays at 1080p-1440p you can get probably 10 years out of it if they stay alive
My old 3770k with my friends is having faulty usb now doh
Rip
I told them to buy new-old-stock of a board for like $150 and just keep it for the kids
And I'm going to offer them my 9900k when I upgrade
Do they have a good enough cooler???
Because that’s a huge change lol
I'm going to leave my current H100i on it. They just have to buy their own ram bc im keeping my 32gb b-die
Lol
I think I put an H60 on the 3770
Oh yeah it’s ddr3 isn’t it
Bc the H100i was on the 3770 but I kept the AIO when I upgraded and just bought the H60 for it when I passed it on
Satisfactory: heard you like multithreaded factories so i got you a multithreaded game
There is something warm and fuzzy about looking at it in resource monitor and seeing the helper threads chugging across all 16 threads

@jaunty light DSP has you covered
Pomf hmm? What are we gonna do in the factory onii chan?
🤨

passed by IT support today, not what i expected
lol

I'm always weirded out by overpasses in other states
ffs pcpartpicker is shit
gives prices from stupid jank amazon marketplace people
dickheads
and then offering me newegg things that ship from USA
fuck off
That’s why I don’t use it except to get an idea
And then i check local/worldwide sellers
there's a place called CEX who do used stuff, 12700k is £300 with 2 year warranty
that seems foolish
new it's just over £380
Does it tell you how long it was used for?
nah
lottery, some say it looked brand new in box just seal broken
don't think I'll risk it
I'm like
should I just order all this shit now
there are never good prices on shit I actually want on prime day
maybe a monitor will go on offer
but usually it's just old stock clearance
Rip
Hey all! I am new to FF14. I was wondering if someone knew how to limit fps to a certain number in game or through nvidia? I have a 144 hz screen and my game generates over 210 fps and I want to limit it to at least 144.
is this an app?
I am not farmiliar
yep!
got it
and then settings?
thank you!
Prime day has been a bummer for a couple years now
preach
i've gotten a few good things out of it
but nothing super good
yeah I USED to be so pumped for it
they're ok yeah, overclockers I'd rather avoid though, they gouged GPUs so hard
but not anymore
it's a good day to get a deal on an amazon device
Scan I'm ordering mobo/ram from
hoping these two things go on sale 🙏
discord why.... why can't you post them side by side 😭
noice
I mean does it come w/warranty
I got the 980 pro new from scan for 8 quid more, fuck it
welp that's all ordered
yolo
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/2Dmw78 went with this in the end
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700K, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, NZXT H510 Flow ATX Mid Tower
🙏 may you have better luck than me
I mean, I should be okay, I've ordered pretty standard parts
i mean i have bad luck 😭 i manage to get DoA parts/problem children pretty often
Asus, Corsair, Samsung, Intel, Nvidia and the WD is just additional storage
the case is probably the jankiest part
yeah I'm not worried about it, I just mean it like NZXT are probably the 'smallest' manufacturer
the fact that you have the side panel off shows how shit the case was
only way to really get airflow in that awful case
510 flow saved that line, now if only they made flow for all of the versions smh
if the case is shit you're both dead
it won't be i promise you
ban me if it is 🙏 but the h510 is a solid case the only downfall was the fucking airflow which is literally why 510 flow exists
as it should be 🙏
$100 is already a very good price for it. I paid $120 for mine when I bought it years ago
buying NZXT for airflow
that's why the flow is the recommended option
my mate is suggesting I don't need a monitor and that this 1080p 75hz is good enough
and I'm like
….
tell him "its 2022 old man"
1080p is still fine if you like high framerates, but 75hz is oof. I would want 120
1080p is a relic of the past now that we have 240hz 1440p panels
As I said it comes down to framerates. 1440p is nice, but I personally wouldn't want it if it meant running games at like 60fps bc my GPU wasnt up to the task
I feel like with what I've just bought I want 1440p 144hz
1440p pushes 40% more pixels than 1080p so if you were getting 100fps on 1080p that means only 60fps on 1440p
Yeah they usually do 144, 165 or 240 now, but the fluidity gains from refresh basically hit very very diminishing returns above 120
That’s higher tier than the others
it's a bit over budget, I'd like to spend under 300
but if it's actually that much better, idk maybe I should
I mean keep an eye on that for prime day maybe then, it’s a good monitor but idk about that much better. Of course you’d expect higher priced ones to be better though
Gamers, i need help, is samsung odyssey g5 c32g56 32 qhd any good and should i go for it?
I can’t fully rememeber what i have on rn, but what i do know its, that the one i have is 144hz, 1ms ips
buy anything else but that, samsung QC(quality control) is garbage and it's eh to begin with
not to mention it's pretty dim and it's VA
Yup unless you’re willing to gamble, have a shitty monitor already, and your room is not too bright/has no sunlight
is nano ips some bullshit LG term or is it actually better than ips?
on paper it's better but they're both really close to each other
I admit, I am a bit apprehensive to try other stuff because I like how a good IPS monitor looks 😄
nano ips is about the same just it's supposed to be a faster panel in terms of responsiveness and it's supposed to have a better contrast ratio
so it's everything about ips but better in theory 🙏
👌
there's quite a few, the one shue linked is pretty good
I might take a look
not to mention it doesn't "break the bank" depending on budget of course
same as shue
FE
Fe?
founders edition meaning nvidia made one
Ah
Mine is msi geforce rtx, 3070 ti gaming trio
gaming trio isn't that bad
both bought 3070ti, both hassling Bidori for a 1440p monitor
😭
I was lucky enough to find a gpu that doesn’t cost me a kidney
time to leave so i cannot be hassled
lol, those days are pretty much over now
same, I got mine at UK MSRP from nvidia
Not In Denmark
I think gpus are mostly 'normal' now
still expensive af, but less gouged
soon ™️ it's already normalizing everywhere now

newegg is sending out emails being like "discounts on 3090ti cards!"
and they're real discounts, like 20% off
Oof
like the 3080ti ftw3 is going for about $100 less than I paid for it ^_^
can find 3090 on ebay and shit for like 1k lol
nothing like that here yet
because $1k is too damn much for a vidya card.
word
right now i'd like it if motherboards got cheaper
How good do you Think the gpu i have is
it's pretty good
haha I will point out
Yeah i know its old af, but it did its and i was going to buy a gpu early if it Wasn’t for the pandemic
when I bought my 1070ti it cost me $379
you pretty much got triple the performance
aside from you upgrading resolution
it looks to me like unless you're deal hunting, a 3070ti would cost $700 right now
blocked 🤢
Its 750, But i can pay monthly
Oh snap, let me convert it
lol
usd/eu

In Danish money its 6500kr
I haven't opened mine either, I'm building a whole new rig
Havn’t brought Any card for a long time so its a moment for me
Ay
I wish you luck frined i must sleep now, you have a good one
I might wait buying one atm
The one i have is doing a good job
But if i do looking for a new one i will come back here
I don't even know if hall effect switches are good for anything but I'll try anything if it's cheap enough lmao
speaking of cheap, acer's got the XB271HU on sale for $399

1440/144 IPS with g-sync
not really available here
every time it's on sale it takes a lot of effort not to smash that buy button
so I can have two 27" 1440 displays instead of just one
this is the front runner I think
rtings says it's the best midrange gaming monitor, so it's probably good
random impromptu picture of my computer showcasing the right side XD
@languid lava
12700k, yolo
yeah I went for reliability
12700K is probably the best bang for your buck gaming CPU anyway
obviously I might get unlucky, nothing is perfect, but I have a much higher chance of a smooth install
uh no it's not
Gaming performance**
Sorry I meant
The new one
Wtf is it called again
With the 3D cache
oh the 5800x-3d
Yeah
Savin money, Savin time not diagnosing random issues
