yea Apple is kinda in the same position as SGI used to be
sgi?
silicon graphics
yea
So this is weird, as far as I can tell, monitors in multi-monitor setups cannot be assigned numbers and their numbers are assigned based on the port they are plugged into.
Yet after my power got cut because a light switch was flipped (long story but it's stuck in that outlet, need to put tape over that thing), suddenly the numbers have been switched around.
The monitor that was 1 is now 3, the monitor that was now 2 is 1, and the one that was 3 is now 2.
oh yeah hank, upon watching the computex presentation for amd it doesn't say it's 15% ipc gain it says "we expect zen4 to deliver more than 15% higher single threaded performance" so they aren't saying just how much it will gain all we know is 15%+
so it could be way greater
But it won’t be

i mean i would highly doubt it's just 15%
i'd even be willing to bet on it. i think it's a strategy against intel but who knows

to be honest, my HEDT platform is getting long in the tooth
+15% from last gen is what, +50% overall from skylake HEDT?
High Explosive Dookie Tower?
what one do you have?
the xeon version of skylake
skylake S?
i7-6800k
for HEDT?
you have a 6800k?
I can't remember if that's older or newer lol
Doesnt even have the based 5775c
Hank needs that, not me
He a poor boi
Where tha 7950x at
I feel like I will get muted for such a word so i will not indulge
2500k, 2500k 2, 2500k 3, 2500k 4, 2500k 5, 2500k 6...
no it's not 🤨
Intel went until the bridges ran out then started swimming in lakes, bidori
not really atm but they are going to supposedly
or have they just pretended that HEDT is for losers anyway because AMD ate their lunch with threadripper
Todays avg CPU is what intel HEDT used to be
They should let me name the architectures
Let's see.. salty cove
Malding lake
intel couldn't compete in HEDT anymore but they probably can now, we'll see what gelsinger brings to the table
You kids and your fancy new cpus
hey now, mine isn't fancy 🙏
i've only owned 2 cpus personally
Don't you have like a 5800x or something
3700x and i upgraded to it from an fx 8350
Still newer and fancier than my 4690k
i mean even the 4690k would've been better than fx 8350
We won't mention my 2500k box still running
bulldozer was trash
what makes it zen 3+++?
I mean it is good but pretty underwhelming
Like feels like it is competing for 12th gen not 13th gen

we don't even have actual benchmarks yet, don't go and say it's disappointing without real results
they literally didn't give the full results for a reason
they want to surprise intel
everything is disappoint
All tech is shit, agreed
I think that's the real issue. top end desktop CPUs have overtaken the HEDT market, so there isn't much of a niche there.
eh idk about that one
there's still key features that HEDT has that makes consumer cpus a moot point
AMD will have a what? 24c48t desktop CPU with 7000 series? And Intel 24c32t?
Still aint beating AMD till 12th gen came
AMD 3Dv cache should have a hefty chunk of available cache too
that's largely because intel's HEDT is using fucking server chipsets with LTS features from four years ago
so yeah, the perf gap is dummy thicc
we don't know yet
It's almost like making modern GPUs is hard and expensive and complicated. How could Intel have foreseen this.

isn't that still a pending acquisition
like, they just approved it a month or two ago
and xilinx is going to be used in their semicustom division
yeah, pretty much
they were like, "equal to a 3070" but didn't specify at what res or settings
more like equal to a 3050
yeah
the 4090 apparently has some chiplets clipped off
so there's an even bigger version lurking in the water

maybe AMD can release a competitive product
but that won't do anything for GPU prices
If their numbering scheme is at all related to the Nvidia one, that's not a very hype first part being an x30
poggin
I think I'll be fine sitting on my 3080 for at least another 2 years
I only have a 1080 ti 😔
can anyone recommend a wireless mouse with at least 12 side buttons?
i have a wired one and its pissing me off lol
the naga is like 100 isnt it?
I like keeping things simple, so Deathadder it is for me
i got like a redragon m908 it was like 10 bucks on ebay but the mouse is just ehhhhhhhh
10 dollar mouse is ehhh ...
I thought pixart was meh and avago was the better sensor company
I still don't know what the point is of the 25k DPI mice. I don't even set mine above 1800 or it flies across the screen
logitech uses their own stupid ass sensor now because they didn't want to pay avago anymore
If you had a 4K monitor I could see the 3500dpi being useful then, but above that? Why?
pixel snapping requires true DPI
huh
not interpolated DPI
Just like logitech made their own shitty mechanical switches that are prone to double-type
if you have a 4k display with a very small cm/360, you need a dumb CPI value
@odd sandthey are more prone to just die than double click from my experience
How do you even click on anything specific if you have DPI so high you move the entire screen in 1cm?
like my settings for cm/360 require a minimum 10k DPI if I wanted to have true DPI with no skipping
I'm an extremely high twitch player and most people would die trying my settings
COOL
honestly i have no clue whats going on now im scared
soooo if i dont want razer what mouse is also good?
native DPI depends on the sensor
the native DPI on the avago 3366 is like 1600 or some shit
LOL just like their mice
I have a 1st gen Deathadder Chroma I think it might be circa 2014?
Heavily used, but amazingly still in good shape
Who uses accel on their mouse tho?
it's included in the firmware for the sensor
laser sensors are more prone to this than optical
it's why nobody likes laser sensors for ultra high DPI applications
I'm sorry, I guess the Chroma has 10k dpi max it says. my regular Deathadder from the year before must have still been 3500 then or something
The rubber grip on the side came off, so I got a new one, but I still have that one with the grip superglued back on, but it feels kinda jank
logitech heavily implies that the hero sensor is their own sensor, like the romer-g is a custom clone of mx cherry
yeah, the ultra high DPI regimes give you wild shaky results

OH SHIT
THEY TALKING ABNOUT
NEW GPUS
lets gooooooo
for the low price of $70,000 you too can own one preorder of a 4090
supplies not guaranteed
no refunds
this is just wrong lmao
isn't that one of those things that they just never expected anyone to actually run into the limit
like how they had to make a specific patch to enable extended memory addressing for hard drives
🤨
Nobody will ever need more than 640kb ram
the 48-bit hard drive addressing thing was a hotfix for windows XP though
and it sucked
who cares most people won't be playing at framerates to justify removing the limit right away
not to mention your whole "microled can push over 1000hz" we are still years away from microled especially at that refresh rate
new nvidia cards will be able to do that refresh rate
did AMD announce new GPUs
||
||
gpus won't be announced from either side until closer to end of q2
My next gpu will be made by milwaukee
based
Return to 1024x768 crt
70hz chads rise up
27" 75hz 1080p ips was all I could afford
microLED maybe at like, 250 inch diagonal and $150k for the panel
and definitely nowhere near that refresh rate
that poor LED driver circuit
yeah, it's not exactly "micro" is what I'm getting at
I mean, considering the previous highest on the market was 360hz and less than 1% of the installbase uses tho, they probably don't have it high on their priority list.
What about the local dimming zones?
dimming zones help va lcd's a lot but depending on how aggressive they are managed they can add bloom to dark parts of scenes
bloom will always be an issue with backlighting
even with QD formats
OLED still kind of has it if you have very high contrast
you need to calibrate your white and black levels properly to avoid it
aka having a budget (I have a tcl 535 as main game display and default backlight settings are ok but can see the bloom from time to time and delay on scene change)
microLED has other issues, namely the insane complexity of making 50 million tiny LED modules
the QDOLED design seems like a good strategy
you only have one active OLED element (blue) and you use frequency coupling to make R/G
so your burnout rate is lower
I'll pass on pissing away 1000 bucks and having my xiv hud burnt into the screen
Those have been very funny lately. BRO THEYRE LOSING IN THE EAST. DROP EVERYTHING AND RUSH B

yo guys any advice on why i get fps drops with ryzen 9 5900x and rtx 3080 32 gb ram 3600mhz?
throttling?
temperature?
if you are playing FFXIV there should not be any issues with the game
with that spec
temp fine i still have to check for throttling
other games runs on max setting without issue i also locked 144fps
also i have a 360 aio cpu shouldnt throttle but i have to check
yes rtx 3080
but you shouldnt have any frame drops with FFXIV for that spec
i assume your PC is throttling
hahaha nice
bestbuy offers $155 to trade my old gs9 for a z flip 3, which is on sale for $499. And then there's some kinda broken deal where you can get a galaxy watch 4 for $50 with it.
i am not an expert how do i check that ? on bios ?
my spec is like 5600x with 3600mhz 16gb and i never experienced frame drops except in Limsa or where there are many peeps
i am talking about fps drops in uwu btw
still have to check limsa
but again with these specs i shouldnt have problem
no throttling is basically when your CPU is too hot and it tries to cool itself down by slowing itself
so when it does that you will experience fps drop
someone told me it could be act

i will check temps on cpu
i will check when i am back home

You still have some of these up on Newegg and its like ... I applaud your ambition, but good luck with that...
some websites randomly stopped working while others are fine
odd
on any browser mind you
I restarted my router and my PC
so my setup is clearly not the issue
I did not change anything either
I hope that gets fixed eventually

Unironically a good mouse
The MX master and anywhere are my favorite productivity mice
unironically good? it just more mouse?
Is this the same RMA or a different RMA
Why is it so easy to accidentally close all open apps in Android? You'd think they'd give you a confirmation prompt whenever you do that. <_<
i wonder if this is manufactured as a way to get rid of remote workers and force people back into the office
and cut costs, of course
what I'm thinking though
is there might be another manufactured crisis coming in the software industry
if all the big companies say "the sky is falling!" and start laying people off and freezing hiring
then all the small companies will likely follow suit
it'd be a good way to try and 'take control' of the job market again
Old dry paste tends to do that
No overclocking, but much like the KS, probably top binning
damn I used to live in Fullerton
You know what was cool? I once did an RMA for a MSI motherboard
Nah i could see it being regular
their RMA center is in Diamondbar
It’s the 16 core sku
they let me just drive to the RMA center
and grab a refurb motherboard
at some office
it was nice
Reminds me of when I lived like 10mins from the state IRS building. I wanted tax help and was able to get it taken care of in like 30mins instead of waiting weeks by mail or something

UH OH
oh no AMD bros
I called them up once and they were surprisingly helpful and had really good advice on how to file a situation
but the wait time on the phone sucked lol
So far people think it’s sandbagging which in all honesty i hope i see it being slightly more but not much more
People have unrealistic goals, 15 percent IPC has been the norm for awhile now
I mean true, but it’s newer in multiple aspects so who knows
I think people are also expecting ipc + vcache as an extra boost
Yeah, unsurprisingly the tax commercials are mostly BS to scare you into paying them money to do things for you.
THE IRS IS READY, WILLING, AND WAITING TO KICK DOWN YOUR DOOR, SODOMIZE YOUR DOG, and TAKE EVERYTHING YOU HOLD DEAR... We can help!"
In reality, they just want to get you squared away and if you can't pay right away they can setup a payment plan for however long
Also the ATF
98% of this server just got triggered

Meanwhile intel/nvidia chads are laughing per usual
nvidia isn't laughing
they're sweating because they don't have a substantial enough lead performance wise
There was another tech video I listened to that said the example benchmarks for the 16c 7000 series were like 30% faster than the 12900K, so we'll have to see I guess.
The only thing that’s sweating are the hilarious thermal readings amd can’t seem to get under control even with liquid cooling

🤨 what are you even saying
i mean nvidia isn't exactly cool, not to mention the memory chips on nvidia cards
See we’ve been hearing the same swan song for the past like 5 generations and somehow in real world usage and testing intel still performs better? 👀
lol
They overclock a cpu over 4ghz, remove the heatsink, and boom! "Theres a hole in the motherboard!"
x86-secret

Look at that explosive performance wow
you realize we're at the point for competition where they have traded crowns back and fourth right? we as consumers need them to trade blows not one to stay on top forever
This tbh
I mean, it was an AMD cherry-picked benchmark, so I'm sure the results vary wildly depending on specific use-case
This tbh
and we're already at the point where they are trading blows with both sides
so AMD has proven 2 things to me time and time again
- they can have slapdash quality, 2. they will milk the market every time they get an opportunity
i mean that goes for anyone on that second one
this is why we don't want just one on top forever
otherwise they'd milk consumers dry if possible
And yes, the stream I listened to mentioned how ever since Ryzen2 broke open the market again, core counts, IPC, memory bandwidth etc etc has all been growing exponentially. Proving that Intel would have continued to sit back doling out 5% IPC gains per gen until AMD was relevant
nah I think AMD is much more aggressive about that than intel and nvidia are
Competition is what drives the market forward
how so, did you even pay attention to 20 series?
like, ya nvidia got a little slimey with GPUs when mining happened
better to have competition now than pre-Ryzen days Intel dominated markets..
AMD is already guilty of that. Their 5000 series are not nearly as good of a deal as the 3000 series was

but AMD basically tripled the prices of their GPUs
and every time there's a mining boom, AMD GPUs are the favored ones and every time their prices skyrocket overnight
i mean amd wasn't favored this time except for ram amount, it used to be because of hbm but if they had ram to ram comparison nvidia would've been favored
but they do the same with the CPUs
when intel has the crown: "We're the bargain alternative!"
when AMD has the fastest CPU: "Well, we've raised prices to match demand...."
yeah but atleast amds platform is cheaper overall vs intel atleast it used to be
400 dollars for a low end board??? Wtf really? This market is a joke
not low end
Also one thing people seem to discount is beyond just hardware is the driver support and compatibility
it is not 400 for a low-mid end board
idk maybe i should have said mid end
Which intel and nvidia still reign supreme by a landslide
400 is more mid-high than low-mid
i gotta think about it
mid-end = x570 with some OC functions but maybe not all of them, and definitely not the waterblock thingies
a maximus or a crosshair
those used to be $250-300
now they're $450+
my qualifying criteria for mid-end is stupid 😄 It has a permanently attached I/O cover
multiple nvme slots with heatsinks, a diagnostic 7 segment screen
that'd be even my 150ish motherboard then... aside from the screen
as great as they are, I wouldn't count a tomahawk as a midend board, for example
It's only cheaper if all you care about is being able to slot a new CPU without replacing the motherboard. But in most cases you'll be severely limiting your CPU using a board that's like 3-4 gens old
depends on the board/what you're upgrading to but yes, although there's still a lot to gain by doing so there's more to gain by upgrading boards as well
The upside is the extremely niche use-case of being poor right now, so you slot in some shit CPU and then saving another year and putting in a proper CPU to the same board
lol
This tbh
But then you spent the extra money on the CPU which you probably can't resell so is it really cheaper?
like back in 2001-2005 a 3 year old motherboard was OLD
like in 2001 a 3 year old motherboard was probably super socket 7
so maybe I'm too old for this game haha
but to me a major cpu upgrade = new motherboard
Apparently the mobo for my old 3770K is starting to fail. I regifted that system to friends like 2 years ago, and they said the USB is starting to be glitchy and sometimes it fails to boot
i mean that used to be true, but now it's sort of changed
I told them to either bite the bullet and get another mobo at like $150 since it still ran fine otherwise, or wait until this fall when the CPU uplift happens
yea hehe
Although I may update my system this fall again, in which case I could probably just sell my current system to them
like looking at my maximus xi... I want something with 10gbe and thunderbolt and pcie 4 (or pcie 5 😄 as if I needed it lol)
I can live without all of those things 😄
In some cases it's more cost-effective to just buy a reasonable board tho and just slot in a 10gbe PCIe
a proper thunderbolt setup where I could relay my gpu out into the thunderbolt and then plug in a nice 6k monitor would be.. nice...
-needs to stop thinking of irresponsible ways to waste money-
They can be had for $100 or less, so if you're gonna spend $300 more on a board just to get 10gbe onboard, is that worth it?
Not a waste if you’re happy

to be fair, pro display XDRs will hold their value a lot better than an evga 3090
I disagree, modern CPUs hold their value and practicality for much longer and when you actually should upgrade by then so many new standards and what not will be available to you
This tbh
If you’re buying a new processor every year even when you have a 10 core in the first place for example seems pretty pointless
Like I’m not gonna tell someone how to blow their cash but yeah
Once you finish all the responsible ways for the month, aren't you just left with the irresponsible?
kyanche do you need us to lecture you about not wasting money?
How dare u
Arent u buying a new v8 truck? U already got one fam
you're a lost cause
no, saving for a house!
The most irresponsible~
6% isn't that bad
it's funny because 6% used to be good
exactly
but if you closed on a loan in january it was 2.99%
so that's like 30% more per payment
raising interest rates isn't doing anything but slowly fucking the US's debt obligation
the inflation spiral we're in isn't related to irrational exuberance or speculative balloons
it's just not enough fuckin stuff

the funny thing is that people think M1/M2 supply is the problem, but it really isn't
idk, companies buying up all the houses cash is kind of a problem lol
demand is there and the credit market is healthy enough that even if the federal reserve didn't print free money via stimulus programs the demand wouldn't abate
Yeah, we really need to make it so housing isn't a primary investment strategy
where we are currently isn't in any classical macro economics textbooks
dividend investing is literally the safest investment strategy
If a house isnt your primary residence, there needs to be controls and high taxes
REITs are structured in a tax advantaged way that they have to return their profits to the shareholders as dividends
but aren't we also kinda in a situation where some land is worthless and some is worth a fortune and a half
because the desirability just isn't there
so as the market becomes more volatile, more money goes into REITs because rent is guaranteed income
and with more capital REITs will expand to generate more revenue, which means buying more houses
like, yes, I could get a nicer house for far, far less money in some parts of the country right now
?
yeah, that's the problem though
people are taking their big dick money from a coastal state and moving to like, mississippi
and buying houses cash
which is squeezing locals out and blowing up home prices everywhere
but people are taking their big dick money from other countries and buying houses cash in the coastal states lol
it's less of a problem in the US than in canada
canada's real estate market is heavily influenced by chinese real estate buyers
that sounds mildly illegal
no company offers you a kickback of shares
and you can't declare unrealized gains as "lowered" income
idk dude. We get calls all the time offering to buy the house we're living in with cash (and we're ... not the owners
)
poggin

NZXT just launched its new H7 Flow and H7 Elite cases, ranging from $130 to $200. The H7 Flow is one of the best cases we've looked at in a while, although the Elite misses a step.
Sponsor: Montech Century 850 on Amazon: https://geni.us/s2aV
In this review, we're benchmarking the new NZXT H7 Flow and H7 Elite versus some of the other top cases ...
looks like every pc case these days
Like a fish tank
should just use a fish tank and a submerged pump, honestly
to be fair, this was a good business decision, because I'm already starting to see H7s a lot on /r/battlestations and stuff
and you see almost nothing but Lian Li O11s
the cases that lean on style instead don't sell that well
and the push for simple looking boxes has made cases with no glass look very bland, too
i almost got one for my last personal build a couple years ago, but im glad i didnt, i cant stand em now
im ngl
i thought of the raid
Yeah it's kinda silly at this point how popular the O11 has gotten, especially for such a chonky case.
Previously it was what? The NZXT H510 or something that we saw everyone and their mom get?
time to buck the trend and make our own cases

o yah 510i
no thanks
I think the O11 is popular bc everyone wants to hide the cables behind the motherboard, but then it gets SUPER crowded under there and becomes hard to get the case panel on (Just look at that LTT video with the stealth case for example)
So that extra 2 inches of affordance makes it so you don't have to take a running leap at your case to close it
Why do you need 3 of them...
That's not what they mean when they say to diversify your portfolio

I have 7, its fine.
I have a design in mind for my custom case that needs 18 fans
12 just for the radiators

I mean, my current case is 0.8mm cold rolled steel
it weighs 85lb unloaded
it's a full ATX tower with all steel construction
I mean, I chose the steel case because it was $120
instead of $450 for an aluminum one in the same size class
I have a laser cutter on order but I don't know when it will show up

It's all the cases with so much fucking glass
they also have an unhealthy obsession with RGB LEDs and those dumb leaf things
idk I was just told they do
Also IKEA furniture
oh Jesus Christ that's too much RGB
you just reminded me
thanks.
there's one other case you see a lot besides O11s and H7s
the douche bro Meshify case
the "I'm too mature for childish RGB" case
confused, why you post?
but still has tempered glass....
that way everyone can see your chad heatsink
and brown noctua fans, ofc
that said, chromax fans look sick
if you do a proper theme with the rubber trim and matching custom sleeve cables?
also at the end of the day I really can't hate on performance for the buck, so
The kind that wants your wallet
Well I know it’s likely a gacha game, aside from that
Why is this the douche case? I got the white version of that for my friends when I regifted my old parts lol
Bc Fractal makes quality cases, the mesh pattern in the front looks nice, and exactly bc they're not the type that cares about barfing rainbows. (Although I think some of the fans in it still have some LEDs)
I've only seen a little bit. Looks like it might be somewhere between Genshin and Dragalia Lost in presentation and gameplay
because every time someone makes a gross post on /r/pcmasterrace or /r/battlestations about how their setup has no RGB and they think RGB is ghetto trash, lo and behold, they have that case
Also it has easy to pull and clean filters and they have pets so that sorta stuff gets sucked into the intake
it's like the thing on reddit about bad drivers and nissans lol
you're not a bad driver just because you have a nissan
lol
But yeah, I got that bc the price was okay, looks decent, they're not LEET GAMERS and have small kids and pets, etc. Put my 3770K in there along with a 1660 Super I bought before the market went insane so it was only $225
LEET GAMERS
Speaking of cleaning filters...
i usually take it as people who take everything too seriously and can't have a little fun

I've got a pretty deep counter-trend streak myself, but I know not to take it too far.
i think arctic's aio looks sick
and I think their fans are the best choice lol
you can't argue with those prices
Like my initial reaction to new shit is to be like "Uhh no, that's dumb" But I will (usually) at least examine it to see if my gut reaction is correct
mine were £5 a piece
like the price of one stupid corsair fan
and you get 5!
and they are the coolest looking fan without rgb
eg: I can't be assed to be all indignant about Win11. It's fine ... certainly not perfect and still kinda buggy but its on my Studio Laptop and its w/e
I do think the chromax fans look sexy when used in a good color theme
also noctua doesn't sell just the fan
which annoys me
in a build you're going to get a low noise adapter and some other junk
I have a set of these in my case on my rad https://www.newegg.com/thermaltake-cl-f038-pl12bu-a-case-fan/p/N82E16835106325
They make an RGB version of them, but this is just the solid blue ones
Then the 3 front case fans are RGB bc they came with the Corsair X570 case
soul
And since I cna't change the other fans I just leave it all blue
Yeah whatever happened to Antec? They were so dominant, then they just... disappeared.
PSUs as well, you hardly see them recommended anymore
i've had a few
Antec300 and 900 were top choices 10 years ago
NZXT was like Enermax or early Steelseries-tier garbage, then they struck gold with the H510
(Granted, that case still has terrible thermals I've heard)
How do you go bankrupt at this point given how hot the parts market was?
Speculated on GPUs too hard? lol
Oh it's your computer store going out of business?
Yeah I think in a lot of cases the most efficient way is "Choose your parts and I'll give you a quote based on estimated build hours"
Although build times have gone up a lot with including AIOs and RGB lights now etc. I technically have a hub for mine, but I'm too lazy to do anything fancy with it
"put of his garage" imagine having a garage
man I had that case too
I wanted this
modular design
thought it was neat lol
Imagine being "less"
I like it but that means each piece has to have its own cooling, no?
they are still around as a zombie company. maybe can find a ripoff case or an earthwise psu around. I think they died off because of shitty quality control and not investing in new case designs relative to diy and other budget to mid price brands
yeah
Hey, guys, my name is Scoby Tech, and in today's video, we are going to be taking a look at the Thermaltake Level 10 GT PC case. This is one of the most unique PC cases I have ever seen!

There are a few versions of this unique looking case, but I think this is the most sharp looking one. It's got every feature under the sun and lots of room for your gaming hardware.
Cool, but meh, also I do like symmetry.
Buyt hey no tempered glass.
THis case is old cause this LTT is old. XD
Oh there IS tempered glass.. booo..
BUt I can't jusdge, my case is also old
And I bought it thismonth, so.. XD
Also easily took of yhe log so now its logoless, which is my style.
Looks like it was vaguely inspired by Republic cruisers in Star Wars
Phones looking so generic in 2022, that even companies are confused, whose phone it is
US$ 1,599. Though Sony says it will ship it everything once it is oficially launched on September, including a 30W charger.
$1600 for a phone is ridiculous
agreed
I was going to say 'especially a sony' but really, even if it were an iphone that's nigh insane
shit, buy a $200 phone, a PS5 and a new TV for that cash
but I assume pretty much everything android is "it might get an update but you shouldn't count on anything other than what it ships with"
I had to read your comment before I noticed it was the wrong support LOL
I mean, I'm still on android 6.0.1 and it works fine
Although honestly: do people really care what their phone looks like and expect innovation? It's a thin brick and consumers don't want extra bulk added with aesthetic addons ... so what do you do with it?
That's how my Xperia Z3 lasted almost 5 years while still being fairly quick: The only OS update it had was from 5.0 to 5.1.1
My Tab A had a forced update from 7.0 to 8.0, then I couldn't play one of my games on it anymore without lagging
make calls, send texts, play a few basic games, take ok pictures
that's all I need from a phone
I mean, skype/whatsapp/discord are useful too
It's not like Apple hasn't been guilty of mudflating their phones in the past
The issue is security updates until more recently were tied directly to OS version
So if you didn't update the OS, you just literally had no patching
What am I supposed to do about that, likeseriously?
Do you have anything that can be used as an elevated surface?
😳
All tabels are taken.
I got a tv dinner table that gets folded away.
This thing is too chonky to put on anything with me stillb eing able to use it?
You're jsut paying for the camera and screen resolution, eventually
Processor I suppose but at msot the processor only would make the phone 600 or seomthing.
yep, and even lower res modern screens look pretty good at 6"
so you pad onto that with commodities, bang boom, you got a 1.6K phone
Some people are.. what's.. the term for it...
power suers?
users*
I think they like.. do a lot of stuff on it.
And porn?
You can have your phone be a lot of things and want to like, watch high fidelity while not at home.
If people weren't just buying it, theyw ouldn't keep making int hat direction, I assume.
they open netflix 5% faster?
bestbuy had a unwritten promo of getting a $50 galaxy watch 4 with a $500 z flip 3
I was tempted but I haven't bitten 😄
i wanna get a piano >>
I for one hope they don't go full buttonless.
but idk when i'm going to do that xD
What's a zflip?
don't buy a piano until you buy a house to put it in
duh!
nah I'm talking about an electronic one not a legit piano
He's a male in his 20's with a room. He'll get an electric piano, obviously.
^^^
=P
XD
Stereotypes I can track.
pft I rent a house but really I don't get the whole house to myself :p
House renting prices.. gross.
kyanche is dad way before he should have to be dad tbh
Or dad at the right age but he don't want the kids he has.
Or a wife.
Or a support system really
i talk way too much
You get a piece of 20mm pine board and put the case on it
Or whatever piece of scrap wood you can get to fit the size
Anything is better than carpet
So many particles dust mites hair dandruff dead skin etc
take a look around amazon or walmart or ikea or whatever, there are a number of options in just about every price range
what's with the microphone cover o_O
Just for something to holed up a PC?.. I dunno
Oh, that's the one I take to work if I need a mic at work.
And it doesn't exactly have a case.
Sooo...
I have my pc sitting on a pretty nice tv stand :]
TV stands are fat.
Fat AF
Also I don't know if they make them at this wifth.
Bout 17ishinches wide.
can round up to 18 but 17 would definitely fit
Also if I were gonna BUY furniture I woulda gotten a better table in general.
But I got this for free sooo.. really, it's jsut that kinda living I have
I got the bottle they had before they made the change to a normal spout. ;~;
Use that weird Lego foam mat thing
I am.
That's what it's on on the sides.
Oh I have those in a layer, THOSE aren't on the floor cause I need to move it to fit.
Just don’t want crap getting sucked into your case and causing issues for your components
I'm gonna assume that's how the PSU is oriented.
BUt I haven't clue
I dunno, maybe goodwill has somethign I guess
BUt I don't need nothin' that's more than 10$
https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/amd-ryzen-7000-arent-powerful-enough-for-gaming/ okay now wtf AMD, the gpu compute units will not be good enough for gaming and those kinds of chips will be apus so "cpus" get some just for diagnostic (makes sense) but are too weak to really game on (just why amd, why limit that to just apus)
that's kinda fail
so it's 1/4th the power of steamdeck roughly for just the rdna 2 compute units unless there's more improvements to the CUs themselves on just cpus vs apus
the apus better be killer if this is what they are doing
They're taking the intel approach
i mean we already know they are going to have gaming apus
Maybe its because of heat constraints?
100% confirmed, but why they are limiting desktop that much in their whole cpus vs apus is just odd
so we wait and see what the 7600g or whatever is?
pretty much
i imagine the 7600g will be twice as powerful as steamdeck
if not, amd is just dumb
i hope for a 7700g being 8 cores and 16+ CUs and the rest being less with a 7400g being the steamdeck apu pretty much but more power
I'll just continue on with my reject hardware whatever lol
lol
i mean not taking into account CUs and cores and such. the cpus CUs will probably be more powerful anyways since they're not power constrained like the steamdeck
since the steamdeck with 8 CUs is only 4-15w
so who knows, maybe just maybe, 2 CUs with a 45-85+w power envelope will be powerful
but atleast it's a step in the right direction for the whole diagnostic aspect
I mean, at the end of the day it's CUs that determine actual performance, not TDP/TGP
i mean yeah, but we don't know what else is changed aside from it having a whole new IO die on the chip
if you took 2 SMCs and put it on the same power budget as the full 30 SMCs or whatever shit nvidia is doing with their full die, it wouldn't be anywhere near the same performance
yeah, but i still hope it performs better than 1/4th steamdeck performance
otherwise it's just sad 😭
for the APU, I'd bet on it having real graphics performance
the steamdeck is using a graphics-focused chip so yeah, it's obviously going to be graphics capable
i know they confirmed having 16CU apus coming but i was hoping for atleast better igpu on all cpus (although having an igpu vs no igpu is technically "better" but yeah)
16 CU sounds like it might be getting in on obviating the midrange GPU lines
for sure, which i mean i'm fine with
apus are for sure going to get more powerful and overtake some of that low-mid range and i mean, they'll probably make the cpus price reflect some of that
so instead of people having to pay for a dedicated gpu in the dead price range of sub 200 you'd pay for a 400 dollar apu or something
I might be interested if AMD pop out a 7600g or whatever that is a dramatic improvement on this 4690k/1080 box at a cheap price
i doubt it'd be better than 1080 performance but it for sure would be nice to have just an apu in terms of aesthetics if you care about that
but then you have to pay for ddr5 and x650/670/670E depending on what you're after. the good part is that active cooling isn't needed this generation (thank goodness) those chipset fans are obnoxious
of course I don't care about aesthetics
I'd also be interested if it used significantly less power for similar performance
oh it probably will
the way fuel bills are going here, it's going to be very costly to run a gaming pc
i imagine we'll see an apu for 1080p 60fps+ with the 7600g/7700g
i can just imagine those laptops and the battery performance 🙏
my electricity bill is looking like being maybe 3x what it was a year ago by the time we hit october
so if I can save cash that way, it might be worth it
we'll see
yeah for sure

Kids use a lot of power.
poggin, love to see it
I want to install solar on my roof and call it a day
what 😔

quois?
🤔
what
is it for grid-tie applications?
well, the utilities aren't fans of people getting functionally free power
if I did solar I'd also convert to heat pump and use that extra power
get off fucking fuel oil as soon as possible
heat pumps more efficient and cheaper to operate, especially with solar on hand
Only if you live in a climate that doesn’t get below freezing
No thanks I’ll keep my natural gas
ed, you still haven't built your personal mini nuclear reactor yet?
My PC was making some funny coil whine that was quite loud
Maybe my 8 year old PSU is finally dying
you say that like I haven't thought of converting the 150 gallon oil tank on my property into a reactor
no I say it like I'm certain you've thought of it in great detail lol
even if I got caught trafficking black market enriched uranium and paid a fine it would still be cheaper than putting oil in that fucker
oh yeah, absolutely
Hank gonna build a new pc
I saw something in passing about using an aqueous fissionable fuel so there's no "rods"
12900k, 3090ti, just to jerk off to pixiv and order tools online
Home Depot in 8K
cat girls in UHD

Why are you personally attacking me
too bad there's no single chip solution to build a 300W desktop 😔

You mean like every office PC ever made?

Ps4
Fitness equipment
Nvidia now streaming bs

Do you thinkt he pc could be put on the evga box and be jsut fine?
The box itself seems pretty solid

it's too bad microsoft didn't add dual boot to windows for the xbox
Other than the licensing issues, which,r eally, I think developers are in the wrong for, it's a pretty solid service. O~O
the xbox already uses fucking windows 11 with a hypervisor
there's no reason they can't do it other than they don't want to
Chevy's 409 was famous in its day. And as part of the W Series engine family it was also Chevrolet's first big block. But a fatal design flaw cut its lifespan really short. Now Automotive Specialists (https://automotivespecialists.com) is updating this engine that first saw the light of day back in 1958 and bringing it up to spec for the 21st ce...

i do enjoy seeing naming conventions of other orgs
tokyo 1 ip56 at iij
then america is like AETHER 9 AT AREA 03 IN SEATTLE WASHINGTON AREA ONE AT US BLACKBERRY GIN&TONIC NTT
or xe 0 1 0 1 1 r00 sacramento
who the fuck names their server like that lmao
You're still on heating oil? Big oof. My parents furnace died in 2005, but then the fuel prices jumped in 2008 or w/e so around 2009 he ate the cost and bought a natural gas furnace instead.
I think he lost like $2500 on the furnace selling it to someone else for like $500 or something, but fuel oil was up to like $300/mo or something during winter, so the fact the natural gas was literally like 30 dollars a month paid for itself very quickly
I tried to get to sea001 as well but 5 phx-b1-link.ip.twelve99.net [62.115.184.196] reports: Destination net unreachable.
F
that SE server name though
not my choice, that's what the house came with 😔
oil is like $230 a month
And I assume you don't have a natgas pipeline in the neighborhood?
there might be natgas but I would rather just put heat pumps in and a tankless heater
poggin
True, but I assume the base install costs on running heat pumps to the entire house would be a lot higher
NYC banned natural gas hookups
sort of, some states have rebates for installing heat pump systems
like NYS is something around $7500 in rebates/tax incentives
which is a pretty large chunk of the install cost
I think most people did if they owned a PC around 2008
Alright. Dippin toes in pc buildin again. The last time i built was when 970 was "new"
i9 is like i7 on steroids, yes?
i never had either of those cases :\
I've only ever bought 4. #1 was a translucent blue/white 'suntek', #2 was a silver raidmax with a side window, #3 was an all glass inwin, #4 was the smashed beverage cup inwin that I currently have 😄
yes
if you can afford it, it's a phenomenal i-series of chips for gaming and production
Oh it has actual benefits in gaming?
absolutely
Ok, lemme rephrase, is it worth the significant price increase?
I've been redpilled by @deep sapphire to skip AMD
what are the chips you're considering?
Just window shoppin atm
If intel or AMD is hintin at new shit, I might jump pn
On*
More likely jump on Intel tbh, after the grief AMD has caused
AMD CPUs are apparently fine
but their sockets are like, 12 year lifecycles so they age out pretty rapidly
I assume the idea is you use the heat pump rebates instead then? Bc natgas is so much cheaper and better than oil
currently only NYC has banned new hookups, they're looking to phase out carbon heating entirely
AMD always provides bullshit benchmarks, so you never know with them until 3rd parties are able to test
refrigerant gas from heat pumps isn't exactly much better
but it still consumes less energy than point of use natgas or fuel oil
Intel does that too tho

don't forget apple's way of benchmarking 😄
It features the world’s fastest CPU core in low-power silicon, the world’s best CPU performance per watt, the world’s fastest integrated graphics in a personal computer, and breakthrough machine learning performance with the Apple Neural Engine. As a result, M1 delivers up to 3.5x faster CPU performance, up to 6x faster GPU performance, and up to 15x faster machine learning, all while enabling battery life up to 2x longer than previous-generation Macs.
15x faster!!
15x faster at emptying your bank account
M1 ultra ultra plus pro
only $9,999 to upgrade
it doesn't include the $700 wheels
i admit
i still want one of these
maybe in 20 years when I can find one heavily used for like $1k
you need the special reinforced unobtanium alloy wheels to remove the negative vibes from the room where your new M1 ultra ultra plus pro will be installed
so that'll be another $22,000 please
precision ground ruby bearings on unobtanium casters
i mean you can get a basic mac pro for 6k but it's got a like 3 year old xeon
and admittedly that's a waste because the base model has a wicked motherboard and you're not using any of it in the $6k config
I think the closest equivalent would be some $1-2k tyan/supermicro thing that still won't be as nice
@deep sapphire Hank, when did I move back to Cali? Why is 91 octane 5.35 here?
let's see. i filled up the car today and 87 at arco was 5.69
actually down a little. when i filled my jeep up yesterday i paid 5.93 x_X
And arco is the cheapo gas too
Unfortunately my car needs 91 and im biased towards the main brands bc when I had my saturn it always shit itself on low quality gas
Does that even do anything tho? Bc the MPG is worse, so you're just filling up more often
I'm more fortunate than most bc I work from home and I want to lose weight, so I've been biking more.
I biked to the grocery store last time even and just loaded up my backpack
So I only bring my car out like 1-2x a week
Apologies if this is the wrong channel.
Does anyone play with both the Razed Naga Pro mouse and a MacBook Pro - is it compatible? Mixed answers on Google.
Thank you.
Is this when you assign a side button as a hot key in FFXIV?
Ah ok - in which case, I think I should not buy it.
I’m looking for an MMO mouse suitable with MacBook Pro
I seee
I see
And does that mean I also can’t change the colour to pink? #priorities
I’ve just seen the link you provided. Are some mice Synapse 2 and some are Synapse 3? So if I get one which is Synapse 2, I should be ok?
Thanks for your help btw
What’s that?
Just googled - looks like a good mouse. But yeah I’ll need to see if it works with MAC
So I would need to programme it first on windows? What a pain 😭
Ah ok I see thank you for that.
Fuuuuuu that’s rough
I may need to get a new mouse
So i am wondering if i can ask for suggestions about such . o.
Of course you can lol
Like someone probably suggested earlier Razer is a solid mouse brand
razer is a marketing brand more than a solid mouse brand
I have my logitech G600 for 4-5 years now and its working perfectly.
it is a 5yr old mouse
so its sensor will be lackluster
compared to current standards
but it has worked perfectly for me for any type of game for many years now
I just use a logitech g203 and I'm pretty happy with it, cheap, works pretty well
it's wired yeah, I've had too many issues with wireless peripherals so I went back to wired and don't regret it
budget is important to me, so the slight irritation of wires is worth it
Wired forever

I love my death adder v2
Fuck yeah
It’s been reliable for me, the old DAs were terrible lmao
😌
🐍🐍🐍
tbh bought it because people said it is durable since mouse tend to ghost click after a year of use
i went into a microcenter and tried out the mice and keyboards
Yeah the old one had notorious double click issues
wasn't a fan of how the logitech stuff looked and felt
The V2 has been solid for me
yep i remember the double click issue
this

corsair is also a solid brand

true
