The only problem I have with my AW is the cheapass chinese mount's vesa I got cant hold it angled upwards
The g9 is like 15kg that shit ain’t that heavy
I need to buy mounts to mount my ultra wide ontop of my monitor
still trying to find s cheap alternative
But I’ll probably have to buy a wall mount
Its hefty for a monitor my 4k viewsonic is like a feather compared to both my AWs
Apparently the aw2721 is only 14lb
Feels like more but hm
I don’t speak French weight numbers
Like 7kg
The ergo is because they strapped 2 snes controllers into a nvidia tablet
And made it as thin
But it ain’t that heavy
The Aurum Vale completion time: 2:34.
what light level?
gonna be slightly faster I think
It’s like 400 grams for the switch I think with joycons ?
it took 1 tam tara and 1 aurum vale for a full mahatma
The ps vita was 300
that's what, like 4-5 minutes?
I think the switch itself weights less than the Wii U controller
tam tara was 4 mins
so if I can do 2x AV at that speed it'll cut out a little of the mog ex load times
not a huge difference though, so I may mix it up, see if I can catch a bonus window
what light is mog giving again?
according to https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Zodiac_Zeta_Weapons/Quest ex primals are 8 and aurum vale is 24
and you need 40 per mahatma
not all of the primals are the same, i tested that myself
mog was the quickest and gave the most
it was quickest for the light, I haven't tested it on this stage yet
will go in there next
i mean in the end up to you, i did mog because braindead
it'd be ideal if mog ex is Gentle and worth 16, then I could do one each of mog ex and av for the 40
going to have to load 2 instances regardless
I just did garuda HM until I wanted to die
price cuts are happening
Btw I hate how AMD had a cut and dry naming scheme for their gpus and processors then they tipped it over on its head
?
R9 2xx 3xx then fury then rx 480/580 then Vega 64 56 7 then back to rx but 4 numbers now
Actually Vega 7 wasnt even called Vega it was just Radeon 7
Zen 2 being 3xxx and zen+ being 2xxxx
another reason to buy intel
Then zen 2+ is 5xxx(?)
Vega 64 sounded cool
Vega sounded cool yeah
Radeon Vega
I don’t mind the RX now but it’s just weird they had a mood swing like that
probably a trademark issue
maybe they could make a Radeon Nova
It’s still not that bad though, plus those are micro architectures which most people don’t refer to them as
Zen 3 btw
🐌
Yeah
whoever did that was an asshole
that's partially because the nomenclature not only overlaps but it intentionally obfuscates what the underlying hardware is based on
Odds being generational leaps
Yeah but also laptops now
maybe to fuck with people they'll introduce a Zen 4 6700x
so you have to get out the fucking decoder ring to figure out what the i9 1250044y5kfdrebebtsrtbs sku actually does
I wish that zen+ was just
Z2 3700X
Ryzen 5 1650x
1850x
There is a pattern that odds have been generational leaps but it’s still pepega
It’s not bad but the fact that you can get a 1600 and upgrade to another 1600
And there is a difference
4000 is a mobile sku
And you can’t see the underlying change unless you look specifically for the AF in the code name
Mobile can always have a different designation because you can’t cram a laptop chip on the desktop (normally)
Tbh I just accept the waffling naming, easy to look up what it is
Especially for desktop
Once you get to server CPU naming i really give up
It’s better than Intel naming for sure
But I still wanted it to be like
R5 1600
R5 1650
R5 1600+ (AF)
But I hope they’re actually consistent with naming now because nvidia has been somewhat consistent
Gtx number go up it’s better
And it’s always in increment of 10 or 100(1000) now
1650/1660 can suck a cocaine lined hot dog
just wait, probably get 2600 series soon lol
Because like
For sure I thought that 1660 = 2060 but without rtx
Same “generation”
i mean the 1600 series was also a shitshow because they did supers and tis and different variants of supers/tis
it was just fucked all around
Supers shouldn’t exist
that's what happens when nvidia has competition atleast as of now
we'll see if 3000 series has it with their planned refreshes and shit from amd
TI is a used nomenclature since like the old ass days
But super is just inconsistent
You know that TI is a different chip
But super sometimes isn’t and sometimes is
yeah but it's "good" for consumers so long as you can actually figure out what is better with the 500 variants
Or just that super is outright better in RTX (2060)
They pulled this shit with the 1060 too
1060 3gb 1060 5gb 1060 6gb 1060 6gb 11gbps
They’re different SKU’s but all under the same name
yeah
so long as there's competition this'll probably keep happening
and only get worse once intel enters the ring
waiting for the first ever super ti
As much as I throw shit on amd in naming schemes and actually doing a good gpu under $250
At least they don’t have 5 variants of the 580 all with the same name
That can perform wildly different aside from memory allocation
They really should’ve named the 1060 6gb the TI and be done with it
They did do that shit with the 2060 too now that I remember the super and the KO
eh more or less, considering the 580 was just a refresh of the 480
Yeah but those names were different
480 4/8gb
580 4/8gb
580 isn’t named 480 and launched again and differing in perfomance while carrying the same name
Refreshes are whatever nvidia did it with Fermi
And Kepler
i mean the whole super thing would be fine if they discontinued the previous ones but they keep both active
You know the 680 was worse than the 780 and even if both carried the same architecture they varied on perfomance and the name reflected that
All you had to go for the 1060 was either looking at the spec sheet or thinking that 3gb would make general perfomance without utilizing all of the vram worse
1660 Ti Super Ultra RTX
Or the 2060 KO Being mostly the same on perfomance in gaming but a power house in workload
the KO is a whole different story though
I dislike the the way AMD CPUs and GPUs are similarly named
and sadly it's being fucked up because there are KO products now that aren't what the old KO was used for
The KO isn’t that different
Same name umbrella and the KO is a manufacturer variant
Cpu APU gpu
go ahead
i'll just leave so hank can talk instead
btw it is 1x av and 1x mog ex to get full mahatma spice
Hank has no power here
marginally faster for me when I include load times
🤨
@deep sapphire you seen this shit bruv?
I guess its valid to want consumer products to have non misleading names
Hand literally is the only dude that has power here aside from mods
They should be specified better because when you’re making mainline gpus
i mean it's not for people who just spend money... you're supposed to research things and atleast have some intellect
You’re making it for the dude that will look for specs and the dude that will look for bigger number being better
it's a hobby for a reason, you put in the time and research for these things, no different than other hobbies
Also I haggle the 1060 because before it
It wasn’t that uncommon to have 2 variants with less ram and more ram
Nah consumers dumb should be the baseline
And they would perform the same bar memory allocation
😔 i don't want consumers dumb as the baseline because then it invites more dumb in
Now if i bought a xeon 69420Q and complained the xeon 69320H had more cores thats on me for not doing sku research
It should be baseline dumb because building computers is more popular and accessible than ever
idk about accessible in this market
And I mean MAINLINE
Dudes can buy an APU and a mobo and ram and some m.2 drives and be down with it
All in the board
Accessible is we keyed the EPS different from PCIE, or also so you prevent a dumb mistake
but it'd run like shit
Or how VGA and Serial ports used DE-15
At least the computer I had
i mean m.2 isn't necessarily helpful either because there are different formfactors and such there that require research
the whole hobby requires research
it's a hobby for a reason
Most boards and laptops will support the common 2280 standard found in a lot of mainstream ones
Also unlike the 1060 shit it’s a physical size limitation you can literally see and look at the number specified (not the specs) and go yeah it fits
Disassembling the card more than this isn’t worth it
For any difference gains
That’s enough to repaste and clean the fan and the chamber

m.2 was more annoying when there were a number of different key notches to deal with, but now that it's standardized on the same slot keying, it's not hard to understand
99% of what people will be buying are 2280 aka 80mm. There are supposedly 22110 that are 110mm, but I've never actually seen one of those in the wild
Anything optional can be like 80 or 40 whatever but most of them WILL have that 2280
2240 aka 40mm were somewhat common back in the multiple key notch days, but are pretty much non-existent now. ALthough Steam Deck will bring renewed interest in aftermarket 2240 since that is what they use
I forget if laptop wifi addon cards were 2240, or just a very similar size
Isn’t it 2230
It could be, I just remember them being fairly close in size to the 2240
oh 2242 not 2240 woops
distilled water and you would just have to wait longer
The important thing is not leaving mineral traces behind and that it's fully dried before powering it
Or maybe use some vodka
Aww but I like leaving a bunch of cotton fibers in my electronics
I meant more of the possibility of them going hard and cracking the die
You don’t know how many people I had to tell not to go full gorilla on rubbing anything on the die
I would be shocked if you could put enough pressure with a qtip to crack a die
A lot of pressure close to a die or even PCB is never nice
People used to drive their screwdrivers through the chip/motherboard trying to install the old clip style coolers
Haha yeah ... some of those needed a ton of pressure to clip that hinge
But still the die ain’t exactly made of steel
I once cracked a out of commission hd 4350 trying to clean it because the thermal was at THAT level of crusty mess
A WD SN530 is probably the best upgrade option since its used in xbox s/x as internal storage also
Isn’t sn530 bigger than the 2230
Is anyone else experiencing weird issues with right clicking the upper-left hand corner of the browser (where the tab controls are) in Chrome?
Lately whenever I use it, it just freezes up on me. I need to bring up a window on another app just to make it go away again. It's completely unusuable.

I’m still thinking of what use you would have for 3 fucking rads
And why so many fans at a high rpm
If you gonna cram that many fans at least run them near silent
If i won a pc like that I’d throw it in the sidewalk
Fucking rgb puke
No disrespect to you and your tastes but I’d throw that shit close to the dell machines
I just think anything rgb cycling is shit
Make it one subtle color that isn’t a light house or gtfo for me
Also the EVGA card shrouds always look like shit
Too much of a light house for me still
I have 3 Cheap ARGB fans that I leave on the lowest level of light and purple
And I still think it’s too much

2x F14 PWM intake and one F12 PWM out
One of the fans I have is still the case Corsair fan
and a P12 PWM on my Cryorig H7
I traded my old shitty ass aerocool case for a Carbide 175r for free
And it’s a better deal
They weren’t even on the same price bracket
I’ll literally throw a pipe bomb on your fans
should have just bought some glow sticks
no it isn't

remember when people would paint their parts with UV paint
2006 soul
Installing a UV neon tube on your Pc and putting your weed in there
You know I was joking

And before anyone asks
Yes, it's plugged in, yes I have it turned on
On the back switch
It still won't turn on
ded psu
Have you checked if it’s plugged in the outlet
Yes
Well check connections inside case
If nothing is spinning or booting
Otherwise psu gave the ghost
Unfortunate
Or fried mobo
Which is what my issue was last year
PSU was still fine
Motherboard decided one day it wasn’t fine
If you had adapters for the fans, couldn't you connect them directly to the PSU to see if that works?
I have to go to work
Can't check and I don't trust myself
If it turns out I got a fried motherboard I'm going to be annoyed because I got it almost half a year ago
Well if it's only 6mos you can probably RMA it at least.
fuck gigabyte
Which is funny bc I always get gigabyte boards and gotten a number of gigabyte GPUs and never had issues
Been using strictly Gigabyte motherboards since like 2003 or something, and never had one go bad on me.
nearly every one i owned had power cycling issues
Maybe they're sensitive to dirty power?

Ah yes dirty power from my seasonic 80 plus gold on a power filter
Gigabyte will literally have perfect working conditions then decide to explode like it’s the IRA
Irishmen invade his house annually and blow things up
Seasonic turns it down low, we make it dirty baby
lol
what
what a weird reply
Put money in IRA or Index Fund. Don't look at it for 5 years. Profit.
I can tell you after the latest update I got that changed my s10+ UI it seems slow as fuuuck
Which is why I kinda liked it that my old Xperia Z3 only got a 5.0 to 5.1 update and that was it. Stayed pretty quick even at 4 years old
Tendency is to grow more even if it drops
My return right now is like 25%
fuck Samsung
As long you end up making more than you invested
Because if it goes high and dips hard and it’s still over what you invested it’s gucci
Compound interest is a helluva drug.
Also Samsung phones are just the counterpart to the iPhones on the android space
And yes, if you're relatively young, you probably have at least 30 years until retirement: Just sit on it.
The dip from covid quarantine only lasted like 3 months, and the markets had recovered in only 16months after the 2008 recession
I ain’t paying over 10 grand for a fucking watered down note 21
I'm putting 10% into my 401k and I think my company matches up to 3-4%
Sony gang
Funny you mention them, when my Razer Phone2 hits 3 years old I was thinking of checking out the new Sony handset this fall
Since I quite liked the Xperia Z3
I like my pixel 6 :(
Not sure how I feel about 21:9 though
late to the party but I've also had great experiences with gigabyte products
Looks like Sony supports all Verizon 4G bands and most of the 5G ones
"Line 6081 is too long" thanks for being useless windows
It's an EVGA type
Well I’d recommend you get home to try and see if you can boot the psu by itself
By jumping it
Could be that magically the fucking tracer to start the pc from the button also just went out lmao
have you tried a different power cable? could be as simple as a fuse gone in the plug
PSU needs a 5v pin on the motherboard line pulled to ground before it’ll turn on iirc
My PSU came with a lil self test block, but yeah that works too
Pushpull 360..
Spend like 1k on water then $5 on an ikea table barely big enough to fit the case
after splashing out on the i3 he couldn't afford furniture
my guy spent so much on his i3 he can't afford a chair, yikes
I planned mine badly so i cant actually bring it to stand height

If i was 5'5 itd work great
but you can't be taller than 5'5 you're just a tiny anime girl
He was forced to buy 3 radiators because it looked cool
I am somewhat unfortunately a tall anime girl
oh you must be a Viera, ok
6'5 tan tomboy thanks
We can't all be blessed with the god genes
You'll get em next time champ
Oh no I’m a girl I’m taller than mostly everyone that I’ve met

Not gonna lie seeing your Pc build is like a car accident
I can’t help myself to look away
Aight god genes for a grill carry on

You built it
It’s yours
Nope
Your actual one with the i3
And wanting to go for something similar to that post
My plan is the greatest
Giant tubes for the loop, and a bunch of goldfish
Cant possibly see how this woild fail
I’m just gonna strap a f150 radiator into my Pc
Now this is kinda cool
I have no idea what’s going with the mini itx market
We picked some random ass warning sign made out of metal and painted it black and added some holes
Fork over $900
White pcb honestly looks terrible
Because white mobo’s aren’t really sought out
Youd need to get a godawful "armor" one
Go buy a NZXT one if you want that shit
Last one i can remember is nzxt
Just do it

Whats the worst that couls happen
Make sure to leave the slots all uncovered
I think it still works because my monitors reacted to my GPU
Never heard of microfocus
They buy other companies' products then fire everyone
Unlucky probably
But if your “monitors” reacted to it
The motherboard is working
It’s just refusing to come up because it’s probably the case being a bitch
In regards to the button
In this case im malding because I migrated an install (even tho this is supposed to be a patch) and it removed the other version's VS integrations
Only way to install that 2mb vsix? Reinstall the wholeass app again
Outsourced developers paid literal scraps be doing that
Takes 15 fucking minutes to uninstall on NVMe
i read that initially as hot maple syrup sausage
it's available in 30/42/80mm sizes. have fun finding it in retail though
Yeah that’s why I was asking, could only find an520 at 30
This is acceptable
ya know
they made silvery/white motherboards a long time ago
looks like MSI still does it?
looks a HELL of a lot better than covering the fucking thing in 'armor'
It’s still rendering
So this is something that's been bothering me for years, I doubt anyone here will be able to answer it because it's partially reliant on me being able to describe a sound.
Around like the mid to late 2000's I would notice this weird sound while watching some TV shows. It would be like some weird kind of almost mechanical sound that would just randomly pop up usually during outdoor scenes.
The only specific instance of it that I can recall was when I was watching an episode of Samurai Champloo and it showed this panning shot of this rushing river in a canyon.
It might have been down to the speakers in my TV or something, but it was always very weird. Wish I could explain it better, but it was like a weird kind of droning sound that would go in and out, like a passing vehicle almost.
Doubt anyone will know what I'm talking about, but I've always wondered what the fuck that sound was and what was causing it.
.
Big price hike if true
yeah but think of the power draw smh
200w for that kind of performance?
Sources : trust me
apparently nvidia got hacked
Apparently it’s reported to be 500w
if nvidia managed that they'd take the efficiency crown which they haven't had for a while
500+
Says up to on the report I’m seeing
i'd be surprised if it was just 500w
Yeah because everyone settled for now
at this point unless you 100% need it, no
Dudes right here tryna sell it for under MSRP
Y’all sort it out there’s a seller and a buyer here
nobody is going to buy it, that's not below msrp, that's below retailer scalped msrp
and a 50 dollar cut before taxes is nothing lmao especially for used
that's not msrp lol
it is, even a strix card in a normal market wouldn't be that much
and saying msrp nobody refers to the aftermarket model prices as msrp
That’s not under MSRP either
yeah, nobody will pay that price lol
This is like saying I’m selling a gtx 1060 for under MSRP at $600
prices are already dropping on scalped cards, the crash is coming
It’s $250 but I bought it for $700
Thank the rx 6500 later
Release so wack it crashed the market
lmao
nah, etherium and such is finally moving to proof of stake
so does an rx 590 lmao
not everyone cares for max quality settings
as long as they can play the games
Listen
A gtx 480 can play elden ring as well
An athlon 3000ge can
Doesn’t make it good
if msrp for a 3080 10gb is 700 and msrp for 3080ti is 1200, the msrp for a 3080 12gb ain't gonna be over 1000, no way
yeah, elden ring on lowest settings can be run just fine on old stuff
3080 12gb literally had no msrp lol
so it's whatever people want to pay for it
right, but it'd be in the middle of those numbers if it did
yeah, but not everyone pays attention 😭

yeah they turn round and think it's worth 3090 msrp lol
yeah but nobody ever cares about partner card msrp because partner cards usually aren't that much more unless you're buying the fancy names
and there are always partner cards near msrp anyways in a normal market
when people say msrp for GPUs they're almost always referring to nvidia's announced price
it's getting there
I mean, the only pertinent evidence here is that nobody wants to buy it from you lol
yeah but you've been advertising for almost 2 months you said
either you're awful at advertising or it's overpriced
How is it a free truck
They want your 3080 for it
A f150 ? Not even as a part of a deal or free
Miss me with that shit
But yeah that’s barely under MSRP
It’s under common pricing sure
People might take up on your offer if you like say “will accept gpu + cash difference” or something
Well you won’t accept cash only
What are you gonna accept
The only logical conclusion is just getting a gpu + some cash
Oh that type of fucking transaction thought you meant “I ain’t only accepting cash, give me something else”
Also you can always meet up at a bank or a Police station as the place of encounter to make sure it’s genuine at the moment
why not just ask for bitcoin with enough hedge that if it drops 30% you're still profitable
no takebacks, no chargebacks
locked into the ledger forever
Never heard of cvn
I wouldn't take paypal or bank transfer, they can just say they got hacked and get it reversed
Oh yeah PayPal is troublesome
Just try to take cash only
Also I never actually heard of cvn before and even then
I’d expect biostar levels of shitty from it
is something like that reliable in CA?
Plastic money so probably not
Youd need to know if it works on palsricncompared to cotton
I’d use a uv light to check bills
Honestly just meeting at a police station seems enough
Because anyone refusing is Sus
Same for meeting in a bank to make sure it’s ok
should just use it though, it's a good gpu, it'll last a few years and perform great
Yeah
It’s not like it stops being great
A 980 especially the ti is still useable
And it’s been like what
5 years ?
There’s no need to change unless it’s literally worse than the gt of upcoming generations tbh
so why exactly are you selling it?
/ trigger warning
makes no sense
It doesn’t make sense because by that logic
You’ll always be living by selling/buying gpus
Waiting for that end of the year version
there'll always be a next gen coming
just buy a nice thing, use the nice thing, buy a new thing when it's no longer fit for purpose
By the time the rtx 3080 stops giving optimal results you’ll have way more spare money for a 80/90 series
If you literally just save $10 each day
Till that day
Trust me it ain’t worth it trying to always be on the edge or the latest generation
it's just another madcap scheme like him doing SLI 1080ti a couple months back
Dude
you said you got it off your brother, no?
I’m not gonna talk anything about that because it’s kinda nice just giving/borrowing stuff you have for purposes like that but trust me
Either get balls to the walls 3090 ti or whatever
Or stop shuffling Gpus because that’s gonna be more pain than it’s worth
I think Ice likes buying new tech more than he likes using it
I know how that feels honestly mostly because like
New stuff is always gonna be better
But there’s a point where it’s just gonna actively be like
What
I don't do voice chat, people stalk me, it's a curse
So, I have an issue
I ain’t touching voice chat with anyone from here
I tried making ramen in my PC, and it tastes like metal
And now my PC is in Japanese
What do I do?
Cook eggs and bacon on it
you have plenty of issues bruh
Ok
I bought my iPhone XR for a low price
Now on the market it’s for a higher price
Yes I could flip and just pay “only” like $100 for a new iPhone
He’s
Yes*
But why would I
My xr is working and it’s not like I’m losing shit that would be that useful
It’s a phone, it does what it needs to, same for the gpu, it plays games and it will for s long time
I once ate thermal paste
Now I can overclock myself with ease
Oh yeah?
Well I drank that water
So good luck bitch
see ya in 2025
intel said 12th gen didn't support it
every mobo on the planet found a way to enable it because it was still physically on the chip
now theyre just fusing it off
apparently not compared to AVX2
plus support for avx 512 was half assed on 12th gen, they were gonna put it but decided not to
probably due to no real benefit gains on the new cores
its a non issue i think, i never had a use case for it so i cant speak about it
avx 512 is niche rn
they haven't had a cool brand or commercial in what feels like decades
largely just no benefit except to turn your CPU into a space heater for about 15 minutes before it clapped into the thermal throttle
AVX512 was literally only used in fucking handbrake as a benchmark tool
anything you'd use AVX512 for, a GPU does better and faster
TV commercial aired in Australia for the new Pentium MMX CPUs, introduced in January 1997. Features the 1976 song "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry. This is the first appearance of the Intel "bunny suits" who would later appear in Pentium II ads.
waste of silicon to keep it on the die when it's extremely useless
Intel's bunny (clean room) suit ad campaign for the multimedia features (MMX) of Pentium and Pentium II was very popular. So in one of the follow-on commericals, the bunnies are on the road bringing their bright colors and dancing expression of joy to New York City. Also featured is a rather futuristic-looking (in a 70s/80s sort of way) RV. The ...
who needs specs when you can have people dancing to disco music in bunny suits?>
oof
OMG this is so funny! Intel training video about safety suits.
hmm. yes. "funny".. indeed...
intel making tools to make themselves look better on benchmarks and getting worse results than amd anyway ?
noooooooooo
i dont do shit that requires avx, but generally if FOSS doesn't start using your instructions, it's probably not good
"hmm, we have discovered avx512 sucks balls. let's keep default avx2"
Eh im fine on Zen+ till it dies
Or there’s a Zen 4 refresh
I’ll probably change to a zen 4+ and when ddr5 prices stabilize
nice
seems way way too late into the sku to even be a consideration tbh
1 year ago maybe
i thought about it, then I realized it's just a straight waste of money on existing systems, or it'll never release in time for the 6k skus to come out.. and probably roast it

should I purchase distilled water
or rubbing alcohol
to clean off this thermal paste
I've only ever used isopropyl alcohol to remove paste
but these other nerds might say something else
I need a temporary plate for my car and they send an email back saying they need: Name, DOB, Address, Vehicle VIN .... apparently in plaintext over email??
Isopropyl alcohol is ideal bc it evaporates right away
hey anyone able to help me with a discord related issue?
Ive got my fc discord following the live letter channel here, but it has not gotten any post
is that because only certain posts get sent via the announcements?
it's limited on what it can send by discord so you should've gotten a general message saying "refer to the discord for translations"
so is there a way to display all the info from the PLLs?
uhhh, copy and paste it into your own discord or have them come here pretty much
ther are folks who only sub to our discord and dont really have any desire to join here but want to see the PPL translations
oof
sounds like the copy and paste option is best then
or screenshots
eahh i guess thisll do 🙂
Isopropyl alcohol for best results but if you want to buy distilled water for whatever else
I mean you could even just use normal alcohol or water but you gotta be careful as fuck if water
No it’s just fine
Cant do it online? I know ohio has that option
it's not ideal but it'll be ok as long as you're careful to make sure it's 100% dry before powering it on
some people say not to use under 90% but eh
ok it powered it on
seems to be working
going to run the ffxiv benchmark
and if it survives
its going on ebay
acetone breaks up the thermal paste material and makes it easy to remove
IPA is usually what nerds say to use because they have 70 or 90% in their house already
how much thermal paste is still there
if we just use
water
o.o
and why is it bad
to leave leftoever thermal paste
water is kind of junk at breaking up the emulsion
because it's dried out and creates a thermal resistance layer
ahj I see I see
water won't rehydrate thermal compound because the solids are designed to suspend in an organic solvent
usually some kind of oil
YEAAAAA BOI
well
idle temp seems normal
POG
it didn't crash
WE GOING BOI
that 1080 ti is going up
tl;dr: not enough drives to get that yuge data set and high confidence in the results
Idle looks high to me but idk what it looked like before
As long as the piece of paper isn't dripping wet it should be fine lol
i've used toilet roll to clean tim before
raw
sure ipa is nice but i wouldn't call it necessary
This was my first thought when I saw ipa lol
GTX 1080 in FFXIV is 58c right now
@kindred brook
Nice
No, we're saying yours should maybe not be at 54c under 0% load, lol
Well what's yours at idle
I mean I ran the benchmark and it was fine
down to 45c now
Does it have a zero rpm mode raz?
ew
I think my rx idles at like 27
So, when installing a new GPU, do I have to uninstall the old software first? what do again?
does a 1080 TI FE
have a zero mode
Here you can Download Display Driver Uninstaller, this Display Driver Uninstaller is a driver removal utility that can help you completely uninstall AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers and packages from your system, with...
the driver probably crashed
Nah my rx is playing nice with drivers
For now
All of the issues I had were just FFXIV/penumbra being corrupted and locking down the system
Regardless of gpu
If anything I can sell the rx at a markup anyway because low price when I bought it and get a rtx 20 something
Because the rx 6600xt Is normally the same price as a 2060 and lower than a super lol
did you actually read that thread?
WHA
that and others have people saying they idle in the 30s
would google lie to me
I doubt a 1080 TI FE has a idle mode
It’s a blower
And the cooling isn’t exactly beefy to handle it
:o

oh
its because
I was using multiple monitors
I don’t feel compelled to get a rtx card but I didn’t get exactly compelled to get a rx either
I just went with what was cheaper and affordable for the price
@modest moss seems normal
i bought my 3060 ti on a whim
multiple monitors
ended up being a good decision
3060 ti here is at the price of the 6800 xt lol
msrp babyyyy
A bit more And you get a 6900 xt
I just don’t feel compelled to get a rtx card in this economy and how shitty the supply is
might as well wait for new shit at this point
I’ll skip the 40 generation
If anything
I don’t think the 40 series will be safe of the shortage till the near end if it’s life cycle
Plus might as well skip a generation and save some fish and get the 5090
hey take the decade off
my next gpu will probably be in a ps5
I mean you can buy the ps5 board lol
I’d take a decade off without hesitation with a 3090 or a 6900 xt
That’s my plan at least, get the 5090 and whatever cpu is the best at the time and be done till it dies
Can you see what the fan speeds are at idle

honestly, for the games I play I reckon this 3060 Ti will last me 5+ years
FFXIV is probably the most intensive
Wtf it exists ?
keep up lad
I'm trying to offset
same die as a 3070
my costs of the 3070 ti FE
I’d say the same but I want the most perfomance so when I change anything in the next years I have no need to touch it at all
Change monitors new games with Better graphics or whatever gonna just slam it on max for years etc
Even if the game market is fucking dead
Also last time I heard about the 3070 ti it was vaporware except on nzxt’s website
Like the 6700 non xt was
Same lmfao
Esp. because I'm a 1080p person
1440 165hz
I just use a 1080 165hz with good color@l grading and a ultrawide for work
1440p 165hz here
Gang
4160/60hz gang
I still need to calibrate it though
since it's damn well capable of rec2020 colour space (edit: and dci p3)
they look cool but that connector is strange o_O
mini xlr
Looks like bnc but better
it's one of the good connectors 😎
some kinda mini xlr thing?
it is literally called mini xlr
sweet
I do say the dt880 editions I have are durable af 😄
so 10/10 i'd buy more of those lovely german headphones
tthey're comfy too
well, I wanted some closed ones
i have had dt 770 80ohm and dt 880 600ohm before from beyer, but the dt 770 had really harsh treble so i got rid. apparently these temper that a bit
but the 🅱️ass is better on the 700 apparently
I like the 🅱️ass on my 6XX but a little more thump as an option wouldn't be bad
these look sick
$$$
do you have a collection of beyer cases? XD
I have mixed feelings about that case
I LOVE IT
but I never use it because the headphones are always on my desk
I sold em :p I think the dt 880 came with that case though, I don't really need a case though. don't travel with headphones or whatever
mm it looks like different models have different cases?
mine had this giant leather boxy case lol
yeah that is the one I had
i don't think my amplifier was good enough for 600 ohms
oop
these only come with a bag, and a 1.8m and 3m cable
o_O they charge that much and only give a little bag 😦
also that new headband looks uh
surprsiingly plastic?
I think that's about the same $$ as my dt880 edition were 😄
When you are excited to put your new rig to the test, but every game crashes after a few minutes. Spent hours troubleshooting and this is what I arrived at. Faulty RAM
have you tried reseating it?
No, but I am no good with hardware so a bit afraid of doing that
Probably gonna hand it to the guy who built it on Monday and have them do it
good idea
reseating ram is easy, but if you had a guy build it then yeah just take it back if you're not confident
Lol if a person built it, you bet your ass Imma send it to them
tech issues make me scream
Yeah I just watched a short vid on YT, seems easy enough. Maybe I'll try to do it tomorrow, waiting till Monday is gonna annoy me way too much
Thanks for the pointer
no worries, might not help at all, and might be better to just take it to the guy, make him earn his money
Yeah, just not excited about having to wait two days and drive half an hour
yeah, but if you break it trying to fix it it's on you now
make him fix that shit because you paid him to do it right the first time
As long as you do some steps like not handle it like a madman, and disconnect all wires and hold the power button for some time to drain any stored energy reserves
It should be fine to do
They tried to foolproof pc building as much as possible
for a desktop can go even more lazy than that and just switch off the power supply and wait 30 seconds. that way the case is earthed to get rid of static electricity on you
ram probably the best thing to be faulty since its the damn easiest thing to replace in the whole system
sometimes annoying if you have massive heatsink tho
its both the worst and best thing sometimes
just bc its a pita to diagnose memory issues unless you know how to look for it
True. I spent 7 hours looking for the source of the error before testing the ram. Tech support in a nutshell
always good to just have a memtest usb sittin around, but yeah i'd probably try reinstalling windows and drivers before a memtest tbh
does any one know the best wireless display adapter?? like 4k and 60hz with the lowest latancy possible, the display that I wanna make wireless is an pen display :3
unless wireless is basically your only option, i wouldnt recommend it, especially if you plan on using it for a screen you regularly interact with
eh, are they that bad?
its just a ton of hassle and lots of misleading marketing
ok, will and USB 3.1 gen1 of 10m or so be expensive? the thing is I wanna really try to make this wireless display thing work because the other solution is to get an ipad pro for 3d work as an tablet
with an pen display is cheaper and I can still use it for when I stay at the pc
USB 3.1 gen1 isnt a cable, its just a standard. do you need hdmi or display port?
and no, they're not expensive compared to the amount you'd be spending on any wireless display tech
hmm, well I was thinking the cable will be differen because apperently I will need that kind of output or something like that
so you want to output from a PC to a pen display tablet thing, but the PC is too far away?
and i assume the tablet connects using usb then?
is more likely that I can’t stay to much at my pc, so when I don’t do any work on pc I will like to some time pop up some 3d sculpting
while also using the pen disply as an media consumption
you're probably just better off buying an ipad 😭
oh
any wireless display tech is going to be a complete pain
and if you plan on moving the pen tablet around a lot, a cable is going to be more hassle than its worth also
the room ain’t to big, not even 5m from the pc
so I was hoping it will help and such
you're going to be spending at least $200 for a working 1080p 60fps wireless hdmi solution
4k? not even sure

Can a sketchy company make a good product? We tried out PeakDo's wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver and the results might surprise you.
Buy Seasonic X-series...
more solid = a cable
ah I see T^T
im sure someone has solved this in like, a wacom forum or subreddit somewhere
but its basically a case of just sucking it up and sittin at your desk if you wanna work
or do some weird shit with wireless hdmi that will be lots of work to setup and may still not be perfect
or buy a cable and wrangle that whenever you want to move from your desk to somewhere else
or buy a device that just lets you work portably, with the additional benefit of being able to leave your house/office with it and work on the go
anyone know why my ping keeps fluctuating in OCE, like on occasion i get 125ms (normally) but recently i get like 180+, checked my internet speed and its completely normal
also checked on my other character in aether and it was still pretty normal too
to what DC?
I will need something that doesn’t move much, I know how many weird angles my phone charging cable take let alone something connected to an pen display
materia
is this some weird jumbo routing issue
i tried using mudfish and it didn't really help
mudfish just keeps consistency
i use it for that reason alone
when playing on NA west coast as a west europe person
but yeah might just be the cables and routing
cuz russia might be doing some weird shit
ye but they doing cyber attacks on shit
but thats just speculation
are you wired/ethernet?
nope
may be that then
i use a laptop
local wireless issues are often much more unpredictable
and can add those kinds of latency to your connection
less about routing externally, more about just internally connecting to your internet router from your laptop
like a neighbour installing a new wifi mesh system or a new router could do somethin like that
just messin with the airwaves and stuff

probably unreasonable but i'd say test for a bit while wired and see if its still an issue
but that would take days probably lol
i'll try that when i can
oh wow so I found it https://peakdousa.com/product/peakdo-4k-station-pro-black/ it unfortunatly use line of sight transmision of a kind
its been an issue for a while now and ive been really bugged by it
aether is literally across the world for me but i manage to get better ping for some cursed reason
o7
and then eliminates most of the routing as a factor
Might be possible to just have a lightweight Linux OS on USB with a bunch of stress testing periphs to check for problem points
But I haven't run into anything that'd warrant me having that around thus far
yeah i mean im only building pcs once every like 4-5 years and even then im mostly reusing parts i know are already working
Yeah

got em
