thats probably what the issue is tbh, you have a lot of data transferring from the drive going through the same southbridge (essentially the chip responsible for handling USB communication)

you could always replace the internal drive with something larger

plus another problem with playing a game off an external drive over USB is you are severely limited with how much data can be passed back and forth, a huge difference compared to the internal drive

in a perfect world an external hard drive is able to read about 60-80 mbps but when streaming data its closer to 40, the internal PS4 drive is triple that when not using an SSD

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I've had the same pc/internet/gpu/etc. from ARR to Shadowbringers and I have never reached an fps above 20-25 for all the years I've played this game.

Logged on yesterday and suddenly my game felt different. Went to check and my fps is around 60... Did the game client go through a major overhaul/update recently (like I mean the past week???). I was literally playing this game 2 weeks ago and my fps was still around 20.

It's true that there is github, checking all the commands in your file etc but for the average user who isn't technical & still wants to change settings, it's a hassle. I think the main issue is that it takes either a 3rd party tool, your own code or a large amount of time to fix something that should have a toggle during setup

True, Linux is a really good out of the box option now though I feel the preemptive parts are still part of the setup. That includes USB config, boot to USB praying your device behaves, troubleshoot model issues if not and yeah

Heya I'm having a problem right now. This never happened to me before and just occured.

My FPS limit for FF14 is set to 144. Normally my FPS are between 130 and 144 in every area. For some reason now I can barely get above 40 FPS. I even tried messing with the grapics settings but that did absolutely nothing. Minimum and maximum give the same framerate.

Yea the hot and loud thing was annoying. I found out that in the latest Mac OS there is an egpu driver issue that screws up the fan curve, that and coupled with the hot temperatures of where I live air cooling was no good to begin with.

As for why the Vega… I already had it and honestly for how old the card is it still does crazy good on more recent games

There’s 3 different types of stuck. 1) It literally just freezes, for 30 minutes before I reset computer or logout of the computer. 2) it closes the game and I had to start it again, only to be stuck again. 3) it loops the now loading animation, 30 minutes but nothing

What I've tried so far is the following: 1) Close game reopen about 50-60 times. Its worth noting that there’s a queue every single time I load in, not sure if it's relevant. 2) Restarted computer a number of times. 3) Disconnect/ reconnect from modem as well as router. 4) physically disconnect / reconnect modem & router. 5) reinstalled the game twice. 6) made sure in FFXIV.cfm the cutscene setting is 1 instead of 0. 7) Deleted all previous locally saved configuration from my PC

And 8) Ran the game in DX9 instead of 11
