thanks windows. very cool of you to force me to update my windows despite me pausing your ai slop updates
Lately using Disney+ has been causing my GPU to freak out, both monitors will go black for like 10 seconds, my pc locks up and any games I have running will crash
Reinstalling graphics drivers didn't fix it
is my cpu clock speed normal for the R7 5800xt? I feel so slow i think that's above standard performance but i didnt overclock my cpu
it even puts my cpu at 70c even though it doesnt do that sigh
when it's idle too it's speed is at 4.5GHz
It's boosting slightly above standard max clock
4.8ghz is normal boost for it
With pbo it gets closer to 5ghz
4.95 is perfectly respectable
Hitting consistency over 5ghz is entirely up to the silicon lottery
Each cpu has its own boost max
Idle speed is weirdly reported on amd from my experience. You'll almost always have the main core and the secondary boosting to be prepared for a load and then all the other cores are in the 2ghz range to save power. Software though only reports the fastest core
I found out pbo is on auto would that be the cause of it? I didnt really toy with overclocking and didnt have my clock speed on during past benchmarking but i noticed a shift in resource consumption on certain games and temperature from my normal 65c to now 70-75c after updating to windows 11 and then when i rolled back 10 it remained the same
I just out pbo to on
Put
Messing with it anymore beyond just setting it to on is just diminishing returns
Alright ill change it to on permanently once i boot it up again
Definitely a relief to know 4+GHz is completely normal on idle
Only thing I could think of would be chipset drivers or some stupid thing in windows 11
Yeah it's not reported the same as intel does
My motto has become if it works don't fix it

Definitely caught me off guard to see it go nearly 5GHz though cuz i noticed most cpu benchmark tests didnt even reach to that point
Yeah ššš
The more you touch something the more cursed it becomes somehow
Modern hardware is great
Idk temps is like below its max capacity but its just weird

Im usually around 70 on my 7800x3d
On an air cooler or aio?
Okay seems more reassuring then
Oop yeah no mine is like clean clean so idk how it suddenly reached from a cool 60 under gaming load to 70 at times
Could be a specific game using more cores
There was a point where it hit 80 too after the swap to 11

Now i really regret going to 11 cuz it still left s curse when i wiped my pc and went back to 10
Its very wishy washy made me swap between 10-11 at times
I've seen weirder
My pc has always been on 11
Since i built it
Knock on wood no issues
Thanks for the help though definitely brought me some relief and reassurance that my pc isnt kicking the bucket after i just upgraded it
If i still find more discrepancies i hope a third wipe and a fresh windows install from a usb does the trick šš
What I've leaned with messing around with overclocking and trying to undervolt etc is that in the end the best option is just to turn pbo on, set everything else on auto, make sure your ram profile is running at its rated speed and thats it
Or... ill just rma my cpu or change the thermal paste or something
Let amds pbo software do its own thing
I wasted so much time just to reach that conclusion
I know pbo has different options too yeah should i leave it at the standard on option or should i look into the others
I just leave it on, on
And let it figure itself out
The cpu is smarter than you
Trust
It knows what it can do
You could theoretically get more performance if you tinker around but that's something you'd have to get set to your own cpus capabilities
Which is trial.and error
And for like maybe 5% more performance

Yeahhhh id rather let the cpu do its thing instead of accidentally messing something up too
If you're lucky
The minecraft modpack I just started is running perfectly and I refuse to touch anything
#goodenough
The true test of a computer is late game modded minecraft

Me with the vr modpack i set for it lmao
The silicon lottery is also mostly over
I dont know how its not crashing with shaders
Binning is so good now, youāre not likely to get lucky any more
Minecraft runs like ass eventually for every pc in existence
Thatās because you donāt give it 256gig of ram
And 80+ cores
Good, it deserves it
You gotta bust out the -Xx gc mods nods
Kinda cant wait to see how performance truly changes once minecraft is on vulkan
You literally have to go use alternate jvm's like graalvm and use custom garbage collection algorithms to allow java to not wanna die
Not gonna matter, the main choke in mc is the sole thread nature
Iāve done my fair share of tuning, both professionally and on mc xD. You can do some wild stuff if you really want
They make a good release
Graal is the best for pure performance but can be iffy with certain mods
These days I just chuck it 16 gig of ram, shove up a server, and let it do the really intensive work elsewhere
The recommend for this particular pack im playing is eclipse adoptium
And its perfect
Thats also what the server runs on
It just works
Seems suspicious. Java never just works
I only use 9gb
Server is on 8gb rn
For now
Eventually I'll probably have to up it
Not bad
I kinda miss old mc modpacks
I know theyāre out there, but I like the mood, but I want modern blocks š
I'm playing a pack called project infinity
It's an expert skyblock
My favorite kind of pack
Iāve given my soul to the factorio gods for the next few weeks
I had that happen before
Decided to do a modded all-planets run
Looking forwards to the command and conquer planet with Tiberius
*tiberium
I did krashtorio
Before i stopped
Then i got bored
Iāve got over 5k hours xD
I love me some factorio, if I canāt get on the mood to play, I know somethingās wrong xD
Itās my depression detector
I have over 20k in Minecraft
Am i special now

I have played for, checks clock 14 years
I used to play eve-online as a full time job with 10-15 accounts at the same time for almost 20 years?
Ah so you're one of those
We can keep going down this spiral, it doesnāt get better for either of us zzz
Used to play competitive counterstrike 1.5? xD
I never did comp
I ended up getting my dad to play eve, then got him into factorio
He beat me to finishing space-ex in factorio
I haven't played any games in like over a year
And i choose an expert Minecraft pack to get back in
Im a masochist

The last 3 days Iāve played a couple hours of factorio, but otherwise itās been almost 2 years
Been too busy fixing up my house for the last 18 months xD
Never did calc, so no idea xD
One of these days I probably will, Iām considering that it might be college time for me
Applying and calculating vectors to 3d objects as they move through a 4d plane

ā¦. I hate math people
I love math
Iām going back to sane programming
I hate programming
Programming is love
Nuh uh
Two complete opposite sides of the spectrum, all is in balance
Can we agree that physics people are just weird?
Cool toys, but weird
The only programming I know is the scripting language in the super factory manager mod in Minecraft

Somebody created a mod for item, fluid, energy etc logistics, that uses a custom programming language to code how things get moved, to where, with filters, limiters, stocking, etc
It's pretty ingenious
Neat idea, pain in the rear, sounds like a bad version of computer craft
And great documentation
Custom languages are usually a bad thing
This isnāt a positive for me personally, but good to know
I have an intense dislike for video tutorials, if your stuff isnāt obvious enough ingame, or I canāt wiki it, itās not getting done in my games xX
It's literally like at the most basic
Input
From a
Output to b
End
Blessed state machines
I think he even added regex recently
Mmm, the blessed language
You can go as deep as you want or as simple as you want
And it has great performance
Somehow
Truly a remarkable mod
Ofc there's if, or, nor statements as well
Theres also stocking modifiers that I'm forgetting the formatting for rn
Like limiting the amount of items has a specific code to be checked less frequently
For performance
I forgor
There's even a vscode extension so you can write your code there if you want to then copy it in game

I might do a Minecraft run once Iām happy with this factory, itās been calling for awhile

I should do a harder factorio run but I wonder, can you use the DLC stuffs in base game?
how u mean
Like elevated rails
Yeah
Probably
you can, they're all separate
so if you want quality + rails but not space, just uncheck the space age mod when you're starting a new save
nice
anyone got a mouse recommendation that isnt razer or corsair and isnt the logitech g502?
ideally i want a decent sensor, optical switches and a quiet mousewheel as well as at least one extra button outside of the regular thumbbuttons.
i dont care for weight and all the snakeoil. feels like its impossible to find one like that these days, especially a mouse that doesnt have doubleclicks or a dead mousewheel after the first year
g502 would be perfect if it just wasnt so loud
I wouldve said razer naga v2 pro... but like... never mind ššš
your gonna hate me but I'm still of the opinion the superlight is the best mouse rn. Besides the weight, which is a huge factor for me because of RSI...I've just had really good history with it. The only complaint is scroll wheel. I'm gonna swap the superstrike version as well soon
but it's only forward and back, m1 and m2
if your gonna be doing work stuff not gaming MX master is also just perfect
always love seeing the charts and the g502 is somehow still there
if you worry about the noise/double click what's stopping you from switch swapping
pretty basic soldering job
i generally only like when a mouse is hotswappable switches in case it dies and the company dies
but i will risk it if not
cause it's real demanding to ask for that I SUPPOSE
I swapped the switches on my superlight with heavier actuation ones lol
nice
i like when a mouse is fix-it-friendly
not disintegrate the moment i think about it
well it needed soldering lol
I'm very excited for the superstrike
it's hall effect
so no switches
and I can customize the actuation point
also no click
dont have a soldering iron. and i shouldnt have to given how ridiculously expensive mice are these days.
i like my deathadder v2, but razer got rid of the additional buttons with all successors and i really hate how annoying synapse is.
superstrike looks cool, especially with how silent it is, but yeah. not enough buttons for me and its 180⬠
as for the mx master, i am not sure if i can get used to the thumb rest. had a mouse with one before and it always felt like i had no precise control
I feel ya tho, I have a lot of friends who like 5 button mice but it's either like 4 or 283728282828282 lol
yeah. the single extra button has become rare and 2 extra basically doesnt exist anymore
I would still give the master a shot, it's my favorite productivity mouse by like a mile. Not sure what you define as accuracy but my small hands can click vertices in blender and do my Photoshop work so it's like not a problem to me
productivity i can imagine, but i also play a variety of games and apparently it has a quite significant delay compared to regular mice
it does
that's why I specify for work only
I'll whiff shots in the finals if I use it lol
my recommendation is just to get your g502
a 20$ soldering iron
and quiet switches
call it a day lol
id need to replace the mousewheel too because its like you are cranking one of these
that's just Logitech unfortunately
my only gripe with the Goro superlight
why didn't they fucking put the anywhere scroll wheel on it

i miss having a dpi button
even though i really like my mouse
if only because i use the dpi button for keybind u_u
streamdeck changes it for me
but my mouse also has per game profile so I barely touch it
I dont like the v3
It feels flmismy
Like i know its lighter
Lenovoās new ThinkPad uses LPCAMM2 RAM instead of soldered memory, making it easily upgradeable, and it scored a 10/10 on iFixitās repairability scale. Super excited about this design!
My brothers early christmas gift because he was talking about buying himself a new laptop before my mom and i could š
he was talking about buying a new laptop within a month or two and i have been planning this with my mom since late last year š
so we were forced to move up the timeline
going to be giving it to him saturday since that's when they're both off work. He's going to love it
going from a 3060 laptop to a 5070 so it'll be massive for him
and then as a gag gift for his bday going to get him this skin and put it on his laptop before he notices
cover up the text so it just says Leg
I remembered my mic has xlr
it's time
to audiophile the fucking microphone (in a budget way)
with a vocaster one because they're 35 dollars on ebay

USB mic people do not have this power, sorry nerds
gonna have to get yourself XLR mic for that
What if it has both
then it's xlr capable still
it's superior to usb for voice quality and messing with it
similar to buying nice cans headset and buying a DAC that can power it properly, you get a xlr mic, a xlr cable, and a ADC aka shit like a vocaster one then that links to PC, same idea
me with my shit ass Scarlett solo that barely works
probably not super worth it if all I use it for is discord calls
guess its something to consider after I got a better headphone setup going
It lives
prime sleeping place for huntsmans
If they can handle the heat
isn't aus nothing but heat
you guys fixed the crooked pins? pog
it was actually something else
it was either grounded or not installed correctly
other then paying $450 to have it rebuilt with the technicians help. it good now
did you discover the board was warped and was shorting because it happens to new cases still if stands are weird
probably
either way it is working
now begins the process of transferring everything over
450????
that's so expensive š
but then i gotta glitter bomb it myself
I can't believe rting is now paywalled
anyone got another extensive hardware review site that is free
Yeah... in hindsight I should have paid my coworker to help for cheaper
@pine thistle is an laptop more worth it or an pc?
@hot shadow budget gaming laptops arent that worth it right?
budget laptops are borderline e-waste
you'd be better off buying a steam deck and a dock for less
desktop unless you really really need the mobility and keyboard attached to the screen
it depends on your life honestly
cause like if you're a student you rly should have a laptop for the beginning of your life all the way into college
starting from middleschool (which your parents were supposed to help provide)
if you have more money then yea you would have both a budget laptop and then a budget PC
then when you have more more money you finally get a better PC and eventually ditch the laptop. thats how a life would look like unless they still need the on-the-go feeling for work or chilling
cause if you travel you obv still need a whatever laptop
People have had a chromebook for highschool into college and only a phone, that was all they had
But ideally you would have some other generic laptop that just works, like a thinkpad for school life into work life though, chromebooks are for nongamers nonprogrammers
If you dont have that much money but you game then your only choice really is just go get a gaming laptop like most students/young adults on budget. I absolutely would NOT get a steam deck for that life, its not good for work/uni
also honestly the steam deck sucks anyway, you can get more versatility/power out of a real laptop. Nobody should have a steam deck as their only major device at home, that's fken cursed and desperate. Most people who have a steam deck already have a billion other things cause it was a QoL device to begin with.
there's some good comfy use case out of it if a person only ever has small devices like phone, steam deck, or phone and those GPD win max 2 laptops or w/e
that's a different vibe, that's micro tech nerds
it's sorta hipster tho, cause they tend to really like handhelds and have a secret gba collection
There's a few reasons I prefer laptops over desktops personally. When the power goes out you don't have to worry about losing everything, if you need to evacuate you can bring it with you, and it's portable enough to bring when staying at family's for any visits over a day. I also like having everything I need already in the device instead of buying tons of separate things + powerbank to simulate what laptops already have all in one.
The only time it's annoying is when the battery gets old and you need to change it- many modern laptops don't have an easy way to change the battery (ultralights) so it ends up needing to stay plugged in or set to hibernate. This is only after many years of use. I have at least 4 functioning laptops for various uses, most on Linux and 1 on an older Win10 for now
Gaming laptops tend to be extremely expensive for what they are and compatibility troubleshooting is the same as on desktop due to manufacturer configs. In my experience there has been a much bigger push for making sure things just work on Steam Deck and it is vastly more portable. What you prefer will be up to you in the end but I can say steam deck is definitely worth it if you don't mind tinkering every now and then.
If you hate tinkering and just want things to just work always, usually console is the way, the deck's been a good middle ground in my experience
ya it def depends on life and how comfortable one is with tinkering
some people freak out catatonically at the thought of fixing anything
so they need to understand they have normie needs
So for example (using very old prices) you can get a decent laptop and steamdeck for about 1k. The cheapest just OK gaming laptop I've seen started at 2k
scaling for inflation will likely be a similar gap
rn if you are a gamer who wants a normal gaming laptop the 4060/5060 8gb vram ones are fine
you can play every mmo, emulate whatever you want, you can play battlefield 6 without crashing (crazy i know), you can play resident evil rn
they are less than 2k
esp if refurb, always look for refurb/lightly used if you like gambling, or even look for a better flagship laptop that was a yesteryear model if lucky
some of the asus rog and lenovo ones fit well within this
cause im assuming a person needs to just be wow'd by playing modern games at all, some of them are even OLED, <1ms screen response, 120hz, that kinda thing wows most people
can also buy a cheapo laptop stand for at home to cool it more
it's when you demand 16gb vram that it'll start being priced up more
a lot of gamerboys are ok with their 8gb peasant vram, they already live like /r/malelivingspace people anyway with a mattress on bricks w/e
sometimes you help people fix their gaming desktop they have no business having, and you secretly wish they bought a laptop instead cause then they wouldnt have to call you at 3am panicking IME
feel that
I will say if picking steam deck, getting a silicone grip has made it MUCH more comfortable to play with and reduces the risk of it getting bumped or slipping out of your hands, the material it ships with isn't the greatest for grip. I use the JSAUX one and it's like $20ish
compared to about 80 for the cheapest powerbank, more if you want more than a few minutes to shut down gracefully
yea i feel that way about my switch lite before too
needed a way better grip, idk why nintendo thinks we have lego people clamp hands lol
If you're not afraid of customizing just a little more, installing a similarly cheap custom back cover with more airflow helps with the really heavy games like MH wilds where any cooling helps
those are the only 2 things I've ever done to my deck and I don't want to change anything else unless it's just for visual flair
ya esp for monster hunter (and RE by nature) on any PC, small or big, i would be modding it to remove shit like fog and doin performance tweaks
drastic fps increase
Actually I forgot, I did get thumbgrips but that's a super personal thing which depends on your thumbs
mine are just skinny and gripless lmao
wow yeah refurb gaming laptop prices are v reasonable
refurb life is dope
So if you game at a desk anyway and have controllers you already like then gaming laptop makes sense
But if you want to game anywhere outside of a desk, look into the deck
so many people junk their shit for like no reason, ive seen open box prices be slashed like 50% just because some guy probably got it then immediately got buyer's remorse
like ok thanks bro now it's mine
frfr
o i forgot people draw
so i would get a ipad with procreate if you draw
and dont already have a drawing tablet at all cause one would need to learn basics anyway, and having an ipad is nice for other tasks. People do work/school on ipads all the time
Yeah it's very nice for drawing
i dont have a nice experience on android tablets unfortunately, they seem to die faster
or lag a lot
I don't have any apple stuff but got an old lenovo yoga for drawing, but it probably costs much more, maybe OK if refurb instead
I think ipad refurb price would still beat out laptop refurb price but I could be wrong, haven't looked into much
it may sometimes yea
a lot of people chuck their ipads a lot sooner than a laptop!
we all climb this tech ladder together
my ipad is still here with me, so is my chromebook š
i used my old thinkpad as a media pc for a while, it does have that extra use
For sure, we're working on setting up a pihole on one of our laptops, I think the only laptops I had to stop using were one that got water spilled on it (cat problems) and another where the HDD failed after many years
I had a third one HDD fail but I liked that one a lot more and it's big and still has a CD drive so I just replaced the HDD and it's on linux now and works like a breeze
i thought about pihole'ing multiple times before but i found out it was ineffective against yt and twitch lmao
so i would be messing up my household internet for everyone else just because i didn't wanna see 1 google ad
That's fair, it's only my SO, me and cats so we'd get good use out of it
plus we have a really intrusive ISP that forces a branded modem on us for fiber, we don't even have the option of using our own now
but it's that or no fiber which is way worse and cuts out constantly in our area
since the branded modem has 0 privacy options, pihole helps a lot here
A PiHole doesn't have to be network-wide, you could just use it (or something similar) via setting DNS on each machine/per-device you want.
There's also options like NextDNS and if you're more savvy setting up Tailscale, etc.
Or even for some cursed reason running Pi-Hole in a local container.
Do you have a Micro Center near you? they have a pretty good laptop bang for your buck wise for about 1k
Im not on the US
you are really mr worldwide with your bio
idk bout getting a laptop rn especially in this day and age with the ram, malls selling 8gb ram models of gaming laptop at a premium 1200 dollars
at least from my end
Welp
I already have an pc lol
On amazon you can get refurb models for just a few hundred, like 500-800 range, the only issue would be if you want to replace the HDD which has always been standard advice, but getting a new HDD is the same price as the laptop so it might be less advised now
but the drawback is you risk kernel viruses that withstand wipes
bruh i dont have amazon shopping here
and yeah refurb laptops are eh
im more confident in getting to see the laptop in person meetups
Apple sells certified refurb in a lot of countries and does student discounts which helps a lot of people
Tho now if ur a student and need a laptop Apple have conveniently made a $600 one thatās actually very good
is this normal for my task manager processes? idk if i should be having 7 battlenets and whatnot.
Bnet has that many due to it using CEF
i have 4 so i guess it's normal....?
Just like Discord and Steam WebHelper
It's a variable amount, but yes, that's normal.
If you enable the command line column you can even see what they're for :D
I have tried gaming while lying down and its a struggle ngl
You can do casual games but comp games kinda suck
yea idk how people have the blood flow to stay awake like that cause im going to bed if i do that lol
i do not have the cortisol required to lay down n game
zzzzzzz bih
literally i actually made it a personal rule to do ZERO phone shopping laying around
big purchase need big computer
because i can feel my blood flow leave my damn brain
maybe that happens to other people and they dont realize it and then they get all animal brain impulse with their Apple Pay omg
next level bedrotting
got some MOA shape kuromi keycaps on my keychron k6 pro, quite like the rounded edges of these
It looks really nice, my favourite is the shift key
The smell and dust would be bad
noctua pc case incoming
then the only loud thing in the room soon will be the human body
better find a way to get a robot body
or find a way to quit fartin
my tinitus is already overpowering a lot of things
okay then windows
It will be $500 and do the same thing as the $50 cases do
But also be poop brown
i hope it's a black case
and not the ugly brown color
the image does look like its very dark brown so
Welp, time to figure out how to transfer nearly all my files from the old pc to the new one
i like the home depot wood moulding they got in there
I canāt imagine itās much better than the existing top 3 cases certainly not better priced from noctua lmao so
I genuinely expect it to be like $250 minimum lmao
move ssd
or is it more complex
take the old ssd and plug it into the new mobo
and if it doesn't boot, that's a sign from gaben to start fresh
Mostly file integration between the OS SSD and storage SSD
Also space
Desk space

I need to get some shelving to shift my xbox and ps5
i think my solution was buy 1 more bigger ssd and start moving things, repoint Steam files to correct pathing, yank out old ssd cable while leaving it in lazily, then call it a day
Buy bigger ssd now costs $50000
I was gonna buy storage last year but said hmm Ā£80 too expensive itāll go down and now itās Ā£250
Alright, now which game to run max settings on this bad boy
MHWilds so you can still only get 30 fps
Black myth wukong
Good luck
Geez I should have started transferring earlier
you using the 2nd pc as server?
Maybe, or a streaming pc
Welp, transferring os slower than downloading
hmmmmmm
different keybind possible
opens up some possibilities
I guess
most people hit the left side only
or left n center but not right so i guess it depends on person
its just extra
Not a fan
of course it's not a fan, it's a spacebar
Split keyboards though
This is a 10 MB/s faster compared to my last pc
sorry is it safe to press "pin channel to top" button?
its only for me right? won't affect other users of server?
Of course
You don't have any mod or admin rights in here so that'd be quite the oversight if it applied to everyone
Apparently this is a renamed "Favorite" command which just favorites channels in your own channel view, so yes, but that is a really dumb rename by discord imo

Coming in Fall 2026, Nividia's DLSS 5 is a brand-new technology for RTX 50-series GPUs, bringing next-gen quality, photo-realistic lighting to any supported game. We went hands-on with four existing games running with DLSS 5 in p...
what the fuck is this shit
i hope someone walks up to jensen and punches him in the jaw
Literal AI filter lol
EUGH
oh it is reaaal
bro
no
this is literally the kind of shitty AI edits that all the rightwing G's post on twatter to explain why a game isnt good.
"lets shit on the artistic vision and just make this whatever we think it should be" - nvidia
The faces change scene to scene obviously cause it canāt store information
It makes games look like that picture thatās āthey should make Frozen look like thisā and the person responds going āhow did you white wash white peopleā
Props to the maker of the model https://makerworld.com/en/models/1381465-the-steamdeck-sniffer#profileId-1429980 We all loveā¦
its bc they made them look aggressively american in the beauty standards lmao
which is very different to whats even seen as attractive by other white countries i feel
especially the edit ur talking about
This looks so ass
Companies really are desperate for people to use their slop
cant believe how ass this is
kill it with fire
what cursed day is this today
because razer also just introduced a haptic seat cover so you can feel your back or ass vibrate when shooting? :
and vibrating headset
There is a market for that, but it's a hard one to penetrate considering there already are better existing tools for it
i can imagine it for simracing and flightsims but not from razer
if its cheap enough itll be good for sim racing setups
bc like most people wanna add on to their desk not a dedicated one
but i bet its too expensive lol
it has to beat the usual "i slapped a subwoofer on my chair" price of "i went and got one for free from facebook marketplace"
but its razer. it will be $259 or something and only work with razers special USB-C cable
Idk what Iād pay
Idc that much so like $50
Iād rather put the money towards the best wheel rn instead but some people are dumb

DLSSlop
This feels like an early april fools joke i reFUSE to believe dlss 5 is a thing ššš
The DLSS 5 early preview demo shown at GTC is run on two GeForce RTX 5090s. One RTX 5090 is dedicated to rendering the game while the other is dedicated for running the DLSS 5 model. DLSS 5 will be optimized to run on a single GPU for release.
this part was omitted from the hype
Genuinely a spit to videogame artists and the art directors ohmygod why would they want to change what the game devs think is the perfect artstyle for their game grace does NOT look like grace ashcroft thats disgrace AI ffs ššš
I recently upgraded to a 5070, and tonight I tried playing it on my 4K tv for the first time. For some reason the audio is coming out completely garbled through it, regardless of whether it plays through my TV or soundbar speakers. Does anyone have a clue as to what could possibley be causing this?
drivers?
can also be hdmi related and audio starts crackling
unfortunately it could be a number of reasons and you'll need process of elimination
you can try lowering refresh to 60hz to see if it's the 2.1 to 2.0 issue too (which means you need a new 2.1 hdmi cable)
Switch 2 got a new update and honestly I'm happy they finally brought in a useful feature for older switch 1 games that wont get S2 support
I finally dont have the problem where i play FE3H or shield and it looks like a pixely mess on handheld it acc looks a lot more tolerable
The urge to get a 3rd monitor grows
What could one possibly need a third one for

2nd computer is using the second monitor
https://videocardz.com/newz/antec-flux-pro-noctua-edition-case-announced-costs-399 they got you š it's "only" 400 š
oh its literally just the flux pro LMAO
but for 4x price
actual joke
buy a normal one and like 3 t30 fans and it would probably be quieter for $200
comes with 6 fans, 1 fan hub and 36 anti vibration feet
things that cost like $50 for only $250 extra
idk why people still even pay for noctua stuff its not even the best u can get now lol
i think some people dont care about 'best'
they just like noctua like it's coolbro thing at this point
Not like nocturnal just got bad all the sudden
Yeah but they reason it by saying āitās the bestā
But itās typical thing expensive must be good as well
Like the cheap stuff now is too good to be true but is actually true and is what people should buy lmao
I Choose the factory
fans that came in my fractal ,and they're completely fine
it's like boys and trucks
i just dont question it anymore lmao
they buy shit they dont need, we buy shit we dont need, happy earth
I mean thereās levels to donāt need where like this is smth just completely useless
Like a good fan is smth u donāt NEED and then noctua is top of the overpriced stuff u donāt need even then
people dont sweat anymore over a few tens of bucks rn from what i see
100 is like 10 to some others too
if u only talk to rich people maybe
average person does not think like that but gets tricked into spending 100 still bc of bad advice online
Thatās why you do extensive research before you buy
Most outlets people trust give bad advice even if they think theyāve researched it
And then they donāt trust the actually good sources bc they go against it and they already have existing biases
I generally think people willing to buy the more expensive stuff because we all got conditioned into thinking that cheap equals poor quality Chinese products. So these people think that higher price means more quality
Ironically some Chinese stuff is cheaper and in much higher quality
america especially liked to push that narrative to sell their producsts
unfortunate
the chinese stuff is cheaper yeah but often the same or better for mass produced stuff
Tfw I can probably get a good cheap 144hz 4k ultrawide monitor from Xiaomi
they do make one of the few affordable and decent IPS mini led monitors
it had firmware issues btu so does every other option lmao
im sure their ultrawides are fine but n ot exceptional
I mean āyou get what you pay forā is generally very true with some exceptions that have more to do with the manufacturer than anything else
Daiwa is one of my favorite examples. Japanese fishing rod and reel company. They make very expensive stuff and very cheap stuff. The cheap stuff is of the same quality of the expensive stuff because even though they have factories in places with a lower standard of living, they have the same factory requirements and equipment. You can buy a 100 dollar Daiwa 9 foot fly rod that comes with a reel and a case and itās genuinely competitive with even Daiwaās own stuff up to like 400-600 dollars and it kinda destroys a lot of other brands. The only trade off is that itās not got a perfectly crafted feel but for 100 dollars? Unbeatable.
Most goods manufacturing is garbage everywhere
So many players in the pool that only a few are doing things well for a reasonable price
theres several factories for all sorts of items that produce stuff for big name brands but also produce their own product of the same quality at a fraction of the price
good instruments have gotten a lot cheaper and widely available because of it in the last 10 years
Yep, the real test between offbrand and knockoff products is that offbrand is just an identical product quality without brand name, whereas knockoff is a cheap imitation that you can't really notice until you actually try using the product. It's the only real risk when buying no name brands
this vocaster one unit is hueg
but dang this mic sound good
3 feet PINK xlr cable
the aesthetic is real
logitech trying to auto add me to the discord server after starting their software. love it
what mouse did you end up getting
OP1 8k v2 and g502 x
Will keep the op1
Waiting until Iām not broke to get one of them big Razer mice cuz even the Naga is still kinda smallā¦
Also the mouse wheel finally is starting to go in my naga
i considered the naga v2, but all the people reporting battery issues and the coating/paint falling off the buttons within months made me reconsider
especially my bad track history with razer stuff this far
the op1 feels surprisingly great after i added their included grip tape. clicks are nice, mousewheel is silent
and its cabled
noice
i just need something big
idk why but my hands arent even like... that big but its just not comfortable for me to grip something if it isnt large
the naga is a lead brick, i have a v1
i cant imagine they have gotten any better
I think I will get a deathadder tbh
they are a good enough price
the new ones are different and slightly smaller
and no the naga is still heavy af. i think the V2 pro was 180g?
and the battery still only lasts for 1-2 days
i do have to say though: the new G502 x feels good to use, but the click and mousewheel noises are so obnoxious. Its so much worse than the old version lmao
also the software is ass
Wouldn't a wired mouse be a better choice if you care about weight
the wireless ones arent bad for weight
the ones with batteries for wireless feel weird with the weight to me tho
if its rechargeable its not as bad
no because the wired part is annoying now and there's super lightweight wireless mice with excellent battery
tech moved on
i dont wanna ever see a mouse bungee ever again
g502 sucks rn, it's not as good as the og one in some respects, then it breaks
that's why it's inevitable Baby Gamer's First Mouse then you move on
I do bc the equivalent of mine is $200 more for no chord
No thanks
It never snags or anything anyway
Decided to switch to Logitech for my peripherals.
https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/shop/p/g203-lightsync-rgb-gaming-mouse
https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/shop/p/pro-mechanical-gaming-keyboard
good luck
Why? Are they not good?
their mice are apparently notorious for developing double clicking issues
my g502 had that too
their software was also hot garbage last time I used it
I think I uninstalled it when discord randomly popped up a authorisation prompt for some Logitech thing, unprompted
but it's been a while so don't quote me on that
yeah it kept trying to add me to the logitech discord 2 times in the short period i had it open
Is 8000 DPI too high for most gaming? My old Naga was at 9000.
depends entirely on you and your ingame settings
their mice are fine i guess everything else is just not worth it
dont rly make anything worth buying overall
and no point in going for just one brand for peripherals u gain nothing from it bc u dont rly have to use their software besides setup
They weren't too much. The keyboard is nice, although getting used to the smaller size isn't easy.
i would NOT use anything above 1200dpi
you
need to drop that
you need to use your elbow more
err, sorry.
no more baby wristing
i actually got a lot better at killing people once i dropped it
because i had real control and not just me guessing
I went down to 3200 at least.
go further down
you'll get used to it
do like 2k at most honestly, i dont really think most people should go above that
2k is plenty
anything above that is like mouse scam
it feels sluggish at lower DPI though. like the cursor is made of cement or it's a shitass normal office person mouse.
1000hz polling rate is fine btw you dont need more
rite
that's why when you boot up a game these days, it feels wildly crazy sensi
because they dont want us to use crazy dpi to begin with
so i would play around with game settin too but not to copy what you used to play as
tbf if you're gonna do this im also assuming you have a bigger rightside of your desk with a big mousepad, you can't do this shit with a small mousepad made for office workers
Ok, 1200 feels good.
ye 1600 feel good too
the whole idea is that you need real control, finely grasped
so when you play another shooter soon, you won't over-aim, you'll have to get used to it again so you don't under-aim
you'll miss a lot less now
I got a temporary mouse pad, but I'm searching for a bigger one.
but yea this stuff is why pro esports people dont play above 1000 dpi yknow
that's a thing
some of them even go all the way down to 400dpi, that's how much control theyre working with, they put more elbow into it
they FLICK accurately
we cannot do this with 3000 dpi š no way
so for avg gamer just stay below 2k dpi or it's gonna be a real mess. i've had to fix this for some of my friends who never played bf6 or csgo/cs2 before
400 is slow.
EuroShooter
cause that game we're not doing crazy movement
a lot of apex esports people use 800 to 1000 dpi because they need fast movement ofc
so i would stay around there for fast games that need that + add a lil for comfort
there's also advanced concept like you can use 1600 dpi for fast movement tech games like that but you zone down sensitivity to create a 800 "edpi" but i wouldn't worry about this right now
šµāš«
it's just people really saying ' keep mouse low, turn up game'
to create an overall balance
and you should never touch your mouse ever again, only ever touch up game
i use 3200 its fine
only mouse s etting u need to turn off if u want to play competitive games is mouse acceleration on windows
so u actually know where ur cursor is
ya
it just depends on setup but generally people dont go above 2k
i think there is a correlation with smaller lighter girl hands being ok with higher dpi, i've felt that
I have big dude hands.
i dont have a lot of s pace and small hands lol
some games i will turn down to like 0.7x but i like it at 3200 for using outside of games as well
mouse accel is definitely smth people need to get used to not having tho
will ruin ur ability in any game
ye dpi can be higher with small light hand and small mousepad, but it's def a diff feel
I love it when my rgb fan lights decide when they want to be on or not
my odyssey g7 just died lol
opened a bright image and suddenly it started popping and flickering
me praying that my own will continue to work properly
you won the lottery so i guess you will be just fine
i lost it and had to deal with all sorts of crap from this thing
Time to go back into the monitor rabbithole because waiting til may aint an option anymore now
cheap sansui time
fuck you mean you opened a bright image and it "exploded"
how does that even happen :D
Dunno what exactly happens but the noise +flickering of the screen makes me believe its shorting
wtf did you do lol
Bought samsung 5 years ago
that day was over a decade ago
@boreal spindle has been banned by sarah_olivetti for the following reason:
advertisement scam
lets see who buys and inevitably massacres whats left of sennheiser
I wonder why Sennheiser even sold it
money
Idk u decide whether the game runs fine or not, the ādevice overloadedā stuff in settings is just almost useless information bc it can still run acceptably
Base ur decisions on whether ur happy with it not the fact a game tells u to
Ive moved onto focals, very sad to see seinny go down the drain :(
Thanks waffle
Had a game tell me Iām overloaded on graphics and then run at 70fps constantly in game lol
Probably save till next year
I'm pretty sure most of those just look at how many settings you have maxed and then claim it's overloaded
you could buy a new PC in 20 years and they'd still say it's overloaded while running at 500 fps
GET FUCKED
"Sir, what if we marketed a product towards the laziest motherfuckers ever born that won't grab a pen or pay anyone to grab a pen?"
"MARVELOUS! Surely they will pay for this!"
did sora have any monitization methods in it?
yeah it was like $20/mo for 50 thefts a month or $200/mo for unlimited thefts
perfectly sustainable
i wonder how divorced and hobbyless someone would have to be to willingly spend that
Horrible day for grifters and losers everywhere
They lost their billion dollar deal with Disney for it too
Watching the downfall after people insisted itās the future is enjoyable
its so weird. i have used a curved screen for the past 5 years, but now i have to use my second monitor until my new one arrives and its flat, which makes it look like its reverse-curved
Good fucking riddance.
My new screen has a 360w power brick
The hell is it powering
which did you get

ROB
I may have received a monitor that elminated my space for a second monitor
In my defense: my gf bought it for me
dude lol
Its a 45GX950A-B

Enjoy the brigtness
Its supposed to only eat 100w
Honestly so many people complain about brightness but my past monitors all ran at 30-50% brightness max
Which puts them below the average brightness of most modern oleds
Oh my god its so big it changes the way my voice travels around when i speak and gives me the feeling that i am hearing bad on my right ear
catchier name than a sony product's
I like to have window open next to the desk which means I canāt see anything if itās not at 100% in the day lmao
Meanwhile me who cardboard up the window
At night I use like 70%
I donāt have a super bright monitor either but itās above what same size oleds do
im usually in pitch black lol
Get flashbanged lol
Vampire
Get ur vitamin D
Oh its bright enough for me. I have the window behind the screen so it isnt too much of an issue for me
Thatās not as bad yeah
Mines on the left side of it
I have a radiator on the wall under the window so couldnāt put it there
i need to do that, i have blackouts bc i gotta use a portable AC but it bleeds thru a lot still </3
The sun blinds me anyway in the evenings in summer so I have to shut it lol
I had an OLED monitor for a couple weeks before it stopped working and then couldnāt get another one that cheap
hmm i can see some text weirdness, but only in my browser and only when its fullscreen
Yeah woled has worse text clarity
But u wonāt have to deal with raised purple blacks if ur room has light in it lol
nah its like parts of the letters arent being rendered properly, like someone took a slice out of it. it keeps changing too. weird
outside of that, the text is super fine, probably because of the 5k res
oh yeah its very bright today and this thing is BLACK
Need a panel that has readable text and doesnāt turn worse contrast than LCD in the sunlight
The worst thing is whether VRR flicker annoys u tho
i will have to find out. so far i cant notice any, but i have to see ingame
It drove me crazy on a lot of models I used for mini led and OLED
Supposedly they improve it with newer ones so u might never notice it lol
i gotta say, the curve doesnt bother me at all. probably because i was used to them beforehand already
Curves make sense on stuff thatās that big at a normal sitting distance
Itās just stupid on 22-27ā stuff they make
And most standard aspect ratio stuff under like 40ā
yeah i understand that. my previous was 32" with a 1800r curve which was still alright
Trying to use an ultrawide that isnāt curved is kind of just annoying
Flat 34ā monitor is useless to me as a main display
this really is quite the experience, damn#
i love oled
what i love even more is that i dont have scanlines on certain colors anymore
to hell with samsung
did you look into MiniLED
any particular reason?
the big selling point for miniLED is brightness and contrast due to dimming zones, but dimming zones dont make much sense when sitting this close to the screen. they arent small enough to really do much for the haloing
also there is hardly any mini LED monitor on the market right now that isnt a samsung shitbox or 27"
theres definitely monitors with enough zones to minimise the bloom from it rn
acer aoc ktc and xiaomi all make them
š£ļø samsung shitbox
team blue is back?
it depends.
but if power consumption isnt relevant to you, then the new cpus are really good choices for low prices, especially if you need multi-core performance, like when rendering stuff
lets just see if they will eventually kill themselves or not
Itās highly dependent on exactly what ur doing whether theyāre actually better
They win in synthetic benchmarks for performance but itās not like that in half the stuff youād use them for
The 250k plus is the only actually relevant choice tho imo
9950x is still top over anything else for majority of tasks if ur spending big money
unless intel make their own x3d cache
intel cpus will continue to fall behind in gaming
The 250k is reasonable for gaming bc itās like $200 and matches the $200 amd options
Any of the others are too expensive for what they do
It does what the 9600x does for gaming
The 265 270 and 285k are all extortionately priced for gaming and then even in productivity theyāre not rly well priced

996967X3D420
I have a 9800X3D
It serves me well
I got a feeling this may be my last PC, I am getting older
i'll take it when you inevitably bite it before 40
i need a 5090
They be chunky
lovely my PC finally is having issues
its deciding to hitch on startup and become inoperative
and the only 3 dump files on my pc are from when this started 2 days ago
probally ssd hitting eol
narrrrrrrr!
do u think :(
is there any way to easily read dump files and figure out whats goin on
??????
some other people I know have had similar issues apparently? *in the last few days
i wonder if windows 10 had a fucking thing happen
maybe your boot ssd is dying
probably
did you use crystaldiskinfo so the anime girl can tell you if you fucked up or not
im downloadin the standard one...
š
how da hell do i use this
I dont think I'm building another PC if prices keep getting crazier
yea prob not, true
WHUH
it's straight up ZERO? o fuk
well you figured it out, something normal wouldve said 'good 95%'
how are my HDD's better off
i had a good ssd fail last year so it happens
the issue is
that its not doing it all the time?
but also i understand hardware is dumb like that
but also wouldnt it just say bad
why does it just say caution š
the only thing it has flagged on my SSD is percentage used so im assuming its close to end of life
im gonna start gutting hings cause i have a feeling its not the SSD
I never even seen someone get to 0 before replacing it
does that mean the drive is just a walking corpse
who knokkws
i think that maybe the drive isnt dead and uh
maybe something else is broken
i had a weird software interaction earlier this week that crashed my pc and i think maybe that is causing some issues
cause afaik it would just go BAD on drive life
but its only flagging the percentage used
which afaik is just an estimation, but a really good one
Either the yellow is wrong or id imagine the 0 is wrong
(it was riot vanguard that opened while i was doing something and just insta crashed my pc lmao)
time to nuke and repave?
Do you use windows 11
11 keeps having more vanguard issues
today I only had to do one reboot, yesterday and the day before it took 3 reboots to get the PC not dying
and its totally stable rn
If itās always vanguard just fully reinstall vanguard
It literally just needs to turn off and on again most of the time
well i havent touched a riot product for a while so i just gutted it all
tbf i was looking at getting another NVME
so if it is the drive it is what it is
idk the usual test is go change a sata cable and see if it still does that, just leave the case open
but yea it's probably the drive still in some way...
or as you said, a weird software interaction
ill order two drives and see
somehow my HDD's are still chugging and they were 40 dollars
2much catgirl pix
its just like wuh
idk, in event viewer there isnt anything other than the dump files and it looks like my pc is hitching on the ctl check sometimes
but yea generally this means your drive has died to the point where currently it's read-only mode or about to be. like it 'ran out of blocks'
it'll work until it die-dies.
so whatever you got on there i hope you can copy it off
unlucky
presumably u use ur ssd for most imporatnt stuff and it gets more usage by a lot
HDDs will probably last longer for most people if u dont drop them bc they just read and write less in most cases but also dont sit and rot
Holy
i only have one drive tho i need another bc i have no space
why u doing so many writes lmao
straight up abusing it
cause this is a 1TB
and it used to be 400GB of Arma 3 mods
and those get constant updates and stuff
lmao
i mean the 131tb written might make slightly more sense
still shouldnt be dying
yup thats why i havent pulled the trigger
i use my pc too much
idk what i be doing
whole lotta 2 hour sessions of looking at the screen and not finding anything to play
i use mine for everything outside of games as well
thats at least 10,000 hours of my drive run time
idk how i only have 2822 hours feels like a lie
safe mode fixed issues so im assuming its a driver issue as the dmp file error is driver
i have a drunk floridian man assisting me in this because he is unfortunately helpful even when he doesnt wanna be
also idk he runs an IT department for a government audited agency so he kinda knows what hes doing
oh hey I recently passed 90k
this is the oldest drive in my system
Is this... hopium?
No
Upon looking at what happened in the last day that I missed yes this is probably good lol
damn i shouldve waited instead of sticking to am4 š
what happened?
OpenAI failed to follow through on the deals to purchase the amount of memory they came up with in the first place, theyāve shut down plans to expand data centres again and Google talking about a way to significantly reduce the memory cost of running LLMs
Some things arenāt going to go back to normal but I think itās going to get noticeably cheaper than it was still
Thereās a lot of deals and plans falling through and things being cancelled by openAI idk how long is realistically left for the company
They really thought that they could make money out of a customer base (aibros) known to refuse to pay artists and anything?
is the bubble bursting??
no theyre just predicting that theres gonna be a lower demand for ram
The bubble is going to burst tho
TurboQuant is now a thing
Googles research doc that come out a couple days ago
apparently that paper alone is massively reducing ram requirements by companies
maybe less data centers means less climate change meaning my Culvers concrete doesnt melt as fast
Less ridiculous electricity and water costs for people within 500 miles of them lol
does anyone think they can give any recommendations for a open back headset? i lowkey need one when im gaming at night TT
no
helium supply is down 50 percent
that also makes computer parts
