i have a weird issue with my mobo when i slotted ram sticks into A2/B2 slots it just refused to boot, even when i put it back into A1/B1, literally zero response, no lights, no fans, nothing

then an hour later of trying to troubleshoot it

o though once I found out my mobo was having a harmless short cause it was warping into the weird slightly curved PC case bottom and the screw stands weren't good enough at keeping it up so I had to take it out and dent the case bottom metal back outward, then PC could start lmao

that was 2010 tho, no case is that bad anymore

when you put RAM in it has to fully perfectly seat and you can watch the lil latches come up and sometimes hear a click

if you don't, it won't boot properly

if there's no fans no lights, it's usually not the ram. that suggest something else is wrong

the other rare problem is that you damaged the CPU pins

and somebody I know has used an xacto blade to push it back desperately

swear all ram's been slotted in and pushed in with a click, i did read about the ram's gold pins or sometimes dust getting into ram slots that could've potentially prevent it from being recognized

but i don't think having ram slotted on another place either prevents your pc from refusing to boot

like.. thats the first time i've ever even thought that would ever be an issue

the PC has to train new RAM first so booting up after you put new RAM in will take much longer than usual

but it will post in that case

from what it sounds like your PC didn't post at all

in that case I wonder if the RAM is even the problem to begin with

i was just reseating it

so its not new ram and DOCP/XMP wasnt enabled previously, so even resetting CMOS wasnt what solved it
