Honestly once you see some of the other funk going on with their web site and engine, there's a realization that this is a company that makes good stories first and does programming/design like 4th

A lot of the engine issues are the result of technical debt and spaghetti code that is limited by the engine (such as, a monster can only ever have a certain maximum number of debuffs at a given time and applying too many will knock some of them off)

It needs a new engine but the undertaking of rewriting the game from the ground up is such an immense job

The mobile FFXIV that's been released in China recently and will eventually open up to bigger markets (hopefully) was in development for something like 6 years? Or something? Rewriting the code from the ground up. It now has features that the main game doesn't

I imagine it's mostly a case right now of "it works well enough, and there's not a huge push to spend resources trying to improve it especially cause another solution has been made and is working well" sort of things when it comes to the launcher

As the director yoship is well aware of the existence of dalamud and I'm pretty sure uses plugins himself lol

The website is probably mostly similar reasoning minus the alternative -- it works well enough and there's not a big push to try to improve it so resources don't get allocated to it

I am very much an OLED enjoyer because of the issues IPS screens have with colour evenness particularly on monitors; every ips I've ever had has had some sort of issue with colour balance that can't even be corrected with my expensive colorimeter. Even if most colours are within parameters, matching white points between screens is like impossible. Maybe I'm more sensitive to colours than some but if the colours and contrast aren't just right it really bugs me good IPS can get some good colours, but even my aw38 which was absurdly expensive has some tone shift across the panel

OLEDs are generally pretty uniform from what I've seen. Inky blacks are also

The issue with etching too is that it's really hard to do anything about it if the manufacturer is overly aggressive on the etching. There's a glass etching being done on all the newer non-wacom drawing tablets that are most identical, and im guessing its all done in the same factory

But it's so aggressive actually causes aggressive blooming at the edges of contrast points, making anything that should be sharp, appear soft

XPPen artist pro 16 gen 2 would have been the absolute perfect tablet for me if not for the etching

If i put clear plastic down on a drop of water on the screen it instantly becomes perfectly crisp

There's a lot of variation in sound response between different headphones, I think the headphones subreddit has a sort of guide for various budgets with notes on their response (some headphones are very bassy, some lacking bass, some with neutral profile, some with boosted mids etc)

Also depends on use case, like if ability to walk around untethered is important to you

cause it's a lil bit too buttery

or however hollow it sounds cause apparently that matters

but generally if you had a shitty Baby Gamer kb like a really old redragon or corsair from 8 years ago, then you suddenly get a Wooting kb for christmas, your fingers feel better

also with those more expensive switches you can customize the real pressy actuation point. like down to whatever 0.1mm you want in steps

these things are why it's a rabbit hole

so maybe you want like, easy to press for your wasd but the rest of the keyboard is higher actuation before it triggers, it's doable
