Yeah that’s literally all it is being worse binned 5800x3ds after production stopped
It’s within a couple % of the 5800x3d and they had good stock of it
And now it’s at a point where moving to am5 gives u a similar performance with the entry level CPUs on there so it didn’t make much sense to sell a 5800x3d
With the exception of games that rly want the cache like MSFS or tarkov iirc
Because they need to buy wafer allocations a year+ in advance, and at a certain point it would be directly taking allocation from the next gen release, which they aren't going to do. They could do that if they weren't wholly dependent on TSMC at this point, because I'm not sure they even rely on GloFo much anymore despite that being spun off them.
Also, AMD has a long history of making efficient use of their wafer allocations by stockpiling lesser binned chips to release as lower SKUs. eg: The 3-core CPUs around 2008 which were 4-core rejects with 1 bad core disabled.
Im not sure we'll ever have a huge leap in performance in the GPU space ever again, barring like revolutionary tech development. Thats why I think people getting excited over the next generation of GPU each cycle is a little silly
There's like a 95% chance it'll be a marginal increase over the last gen
The improvements you want to look out for are software primarily, and maybe power draw?
And price to performance
That’s not from the fact it’s impossible it’s from companies being lazy
Well yes and no
Just yes..
No
Literally is tho
Its because you cant just strap on double everything and go yay
its twice as powerful
Thats not how tech works lmao
Cool it with the sarcasm
There is a bit of a poker hand mentality in not wanting to reveal their entire hand all at once, but it's not always simply bc of greed, it's also to manage risk in case some of their cutting edge R&D hits delays.
Cool it with the passive aggressive explanations then
Im not asking you to cool it
Im telling you, as a moderator
to chill out
Its ridiculous to get this pressed over a conversation
Moderators have lower standards than everyone else?
That said, I do feel like it's to simply squeeze more out of the R&D most of the time, but at least some of it is to make sure they're not stuck for 5 years with nothing to show
I mean the issue in my head is partially greed, almost certainly
The cost is easily a response to that
I remember when a grand was like
Very top tier
Titan level card
Nvidia released an entire generation of GPUs that are worse than what they could for the last 2 generations just bc they can still sell them
You wouldnt get better than that
But at the same time, the reason we dont have massive leaps in hardware isnt because people are lazy
Smart people are still smart, it's just that tech doesnt work that way
Historically speaking, the average uplift gen-over-gen that consumers considered "average" and worthwhile was 30% but there have been a few times in the past it was as low as 15%
The anti trust investigation by both the US and China against NVIDIA is amusing
In the case of nvidia they're trying to make up the difference with software improvements
Being fucked by their two largest markets
Smart people are still smart yes and companies have realised they can release subpar products from what they’re capable of with software feature slop and people will eat it up anyway
Smart people have nothing to do with it
It’s corporate decisions that cause issues not the intelligence of engineers
You dont want them to just give up on shit like DLSS or frame gen, you want them to keep improving that but also slap in hardware improvements too
Software in theory should make the hardware last longer
which is better for the consumer
Problem is they don’t need to do anything hardware related anymore because they can sell same thing new AI slop tho
So it’s not happening anymore
The 90 series cards are their own outliers bc they're simply throwing way more cores onto the cards rather than making better cards. 3090 was like 50-60% faster than the 3080 I think? Then the 4090 was like 70% and you look at the number of CUDA cores on them etc. and it's obvious why that is the case
I mean I dont believe we'll never see another leap again, I just think we're stuck in a cycle at the moment for a number of reasons
They’re just a Titan replacement with a new name anyway I understand that part
The mid range is being intentionally cut down tho
It's not that they don't need to, it's that they want to use the wafer allocation for AI cards bc they make $32k from them instead of $2k
Greed is certainly one factor but I do think they're also just struggling to make any notable hardware improvements.
Yes, but the Titan was never seen as part of the consumer GPU stack in the past, whereas the 90 series is
They’re not struggling bc they have made them but choose to not utilise it fully consistently
Yes but that’s simply to sell more gpu
They’re serving the same purpose
Hell the Titan XP was already like $1300 back then
The RTX titan was closer to 3k
Starts to make the 3090ti and 4090 look like half decent deals
I think it's their "olive leaf" to justify being in consumer GPUs atm is by having overspecced cards with crazy high margins to offset the "lost profits" from using wafers on consumer cards
It is insane
Memory bus on 40 series limiting ray tracing performance by massive amounts when it’s a key selling point of Nvidia cards was funny
Clearly the smoke and mirrors are out of steam and dissippating with consumers with the 50 series though, as the real-world perf is showing them as equal or barely ahead of last gen
It's more complex than just greed, because the world isnt black and white, but I do think a big part of the software focus is because Nvidia isnt really a gaming focused brand anymore
They're a datacentre brand
holding out hope for UDNA atp
i think nvidia makes like
AMD is becoming a data centre brand as well
A related issue is from the game industry side where companies are leaning on DLSS as a crutch to not have to optimize their games and also UE5 simply being a big resource hog without proper optimization. So it's a double whammy.
CDNA makes AMD a lot of money rn
I cant remember who said it but I agree with the idea that I wish nvidia would spin off Geforce as its own brand
Sure, but that's only bc all of their market cap growth the last 5 years was from AI
Its also why I hoped/hope Intel can keep improving their GPUs
Need more competition
But atl they’re releasing something half decent for gaming market
Despite it being like 15-20% of revenue
The real danger at this point is both Nvidia and AMD both leaning full force into datacenter and consumers basically having no good options because there aren't enough fabs and the money's in enterprise
I think if AMD did want to do that UDNA wouldn’t be smth they intended to do
There’s no point in doing it rather than focusing more resources on DC really
That said -- GPU R&D could end tomorrow and the gaming industry would be fine. Set reasonable perf targets and work with the compute you have and games look great as it is.
More fabs are getting built at the moment arent they? Problem being it takes fucking years
not just to build, but to staff and get producing
The problem is them putting out new gens the same as last gen and demanding not even the same money, but often MORE money
5070ti being a 4070ti super except free missing rops and $500 more
And the fabs being built aren't even cutting edge, they're already a 1 gen old process and won't be running for several more years.
I do actually think the software approach from nvidia is a good thing, but only if there's also improvements in the actual hardware space too. Cause, again, the idea would be that the software can make the hardware last longer
In practise though, the hardware isnt budging much
if at all
And game studios continuing to push more and more graphics while optimizing less and less and expecting AI bullshit to duplicate frames so the fps number says 300 and they can act like it's amazing
That too
It's not all on the GPU manufacturer
Part of it is game devs/publishers leaning on software
The fatal flaw is the software only works well when you don't really need the frames in the first place.
like nah we dont need to make this game run well
Tbf games are coming out looking worse than a couple years ago and running worse too anyway
I think upscaling tech is a good thing in a vacuum
Because UE5 demands more optimization than UE4 but they're doing less
Framegen, yes. FG is only worth it if you're already pulling at least 60 as a floor.
But DLSS is solid
I haven't seen DLSS4 in action, but everything until now has been underwhelming
Unfortunately devs have been so reliant on them and frame gen that they’re using them to mask poorly optimized games (and poorly too)
Even when UE4 came out this happened but yeah it’s even worse lmao
Any fine details like grates or chainmail mesh armors etc. looks like a scuffed mess when you turn on DLSS
It’s insane they want u to rely on it but then also have terrible frame gen implementation as well
So it’s not even usable
God help you if you're dealing with stuff like fog or godrays etc.
I think we should kill frame gen
But again, I'm not a doomer on the matter on the tech space. I do think we'll eventually get another solid hardware jump, I just think they'll be spaced way further apart because the companies know they can squeeze more out of every release.
Depends what the render resolution is
At 1440p ultra quality DLSS ur rendering close to 1080p anyway
Which looks a LOT better than 1080p performance rendering at like 540p
I don’t ever use anything below quality and DLSS 4 is a noticeable improvement over 3 imo
And spacing them further apart would be fine if the companies weren't trying to force a new gen every 2 years still and trying to blow smoke up our asses that it's 30% more hoopwanks faster in gigakleenex simulations than the last gen, then we see the raster perf and it's ass
FSR 4 is also a noticeable improvement over DLSS 3 tho
I'm picky when it comes to image quality, but yeah DLSS4 is a solid improvement. I run 1440p and even just slapping it on quality looks near native in some areas
and you get a nice frame boost
Sure, but at those settings on 1440p you're also only seeing an absolute framerate increase of what? 10fps maybe?
The only time i've ever turned FG on is if i'm already getting good frames
Nah
DLSS quality still nets you a decent jump
I think in most cases I've seen like
At least if your game name isn't Wilds?
I dunno, I think the lowest jump I've seen was like 15 or so
It’s not a discrete number it’ll depend on what u were getting already what the uplift it
DLAA vs DLSS quality I saw an avg fps gain of like .5fps
DLSS quality I got an extra 20fps in cyberpunk from like 40 to 60 with path tracing on
That means there's probably some other bottleneck lmao
If turning DLSS on gets you less than a frame improvement then something is wrong lmfao
At anyrate, it's idiotic for them to spend time and money making graphics so amazing you can't run them without enabling DLSS which then reduces the quality
DLSS looks better than some TAA implementations atp lol
FSR 4 does too
FSR 3 definitely didn’t
Im tired of the never ending march for more realistic images
They're better off making more reasonable graphics and finishing the game with a lower budget in faster time
Id rather more complexity
Style over substance
Like I love how complex every scene in Cyberpunk is
These 7-8 year release timetables for AAA games are stupid. 5 is already a stretch
Cyberpunk is my favourite example anyway it’s one of the best looking games in decades and it runs better than stuff coming out more recently
But still looks better
Well it runs better now
Especially when the hit/miss ratio isn't any better for it. So it just guarantees you bleed staff and that 1 miss game means you close the studio bc nobody who matters is left anymore
CDPR finally getting the hang of red engine only to switch to UE5
But thats the case with a lot of CDPR games
Witcher 3 still looks very good
Granted it did get improvements in the last couple years
I think cyberpunk will be one of the best looking games for a long time
That's the rub with the RED engine: If it takes 3 years to optimize, that's not tenable from a production POV
Ray tracing in red engine was just really good lol
And I doubt anyone’s gonna bother to make something as good that runs properly on UE5 for a while
I think Cyberpunk looks good not because of like texture quality or even ray tracing, though those are great, but I think scene complexity is the key
Its the same reason I like how Horizon looks
Cyberpunk has a good art direction as well
The biggest thing for games imo is ray reconstruction anyway
ultra realistic empty hallways
I’ve noticed that way more than anything else
It added a lot of depth into cyberpunk to the point RT + RR looks better than just PT
Im trying to think, what other games impressed me visually lately
Not enough games have it anyway
Alan Wake had some fantastic scenes
Wilds occasionally impresses me atm but either they have some questionable art style decisions or there’s something very wrong with lighting in some conditions
Kingdom Come 2 in terms of performance to visual quality is pretty nice
Wilds has weird lighting yeah
There’s a lot of grey blending into each other in certain weather
Rain in the forest looks awful
I dunno if it's among the best, but I was really digging the RT being enabled in Darktide during blackout maps etc.
Everything blends
FH5 is a game that still impresses me with how good it looks and how well it runs ngl
A lot of people hated the blackout maps bc they couldn't see, but like that was what made it really fun
You could sneak past enemies, turning your flashlight on/off as needed etc.
Putting your flashlight across foggy rooms etc.
The fact this game runs at 120+ fps native with ultra RT and everything on is fun to think about
Given the ridiculous engine its on
Meanwhile I can barely get 70 in wilds with upscaling
It helps that the geometry is very simple and the terrain isn't super complex either
Speaking of Cyberpunk though, I actually think there's a very good chance GTA6 cities wont look nearly as good as Night City in terms of complexity
But who knows
Probably not
Gives them more headroom for unit count and VFX
Though tbf the phantom liberty areas do run like crap compared to base game
Next gen console exclusively in mind lol
They didn’t care about the ps4 anymore
Probably not, simply bc GTA is now a vector for shark card sales/online funnel. So they're going to want to sell 150M copies again, and you can only do that when the game can run on a toaster.
Yeah I mean I know GTA6 will probably look pretty good
But it wont be top of the line
Yeah. I think a big part of why I liked GoT is its colours too
Wouldn’t be hard to have it run on a toaster but have better quality settings available but I doubt they will bc it’s not a selling point of the game
People don’t rly want much more than 5 already had
Plus GTA6 is not on PC at launch, im assuming
Yes
Figure they'll pull the triple dip shit again
It’s console only at launch
Although ps5 pro is out now at least
If not next gen
So there’s a slightly higher target than otherwise
Yeah I might finally get a PS5 pro if the upgrade is noticeable
The potential for better looking games is definitely real
No cpu upgrade might be a limiting factor for it in games like GTA 6 still tho
I'll be real annoyed if I buy a PS5 pro and the PS6 gets announced though
Probably will by the time GTA 6 is out
But then scalping ensues for atl like 3 months
Yeah it’s not great in the UK
I didn’t ever get a ps5
Knowing future FF releases aren’t PS exclusives kind of killed any reason I had to buy it anyway
Console has like no exclusives besides GT and GoW now
And they’ll be on pc a couple years later for GoW anyway
I got extremely lucky because I know a guy who knows a guy
But even then it took like
4 months
But yeah I only own a PS5 for exclusives
Same reason I own a Switch
Oh and sometimes I'll buy a game twice
Yeah I got a switch for it but like that still has some games atl
I do want the switch 2 but I also know that OLED refresh is coming
Same
But I’m hoping that games still run on the switch half decently
Otherwise not much choice lol
Based on a few recent releases i don’t have much hope
Desperate for the Switch 2 to not have 35 year old hardware and run games at 320p
Yeah I like Gunpei Yokoi’s philosophy about using older, more mature tech over cutting edge stuff but it doesn’t really hold up lmao
Oh i agree with it in a general sense, I just dont want them to use hardware thats so fucking old that it cant even run at 720p
Listen
I just want Xenoblade to not look like mush
If they can achieve that, Im happy
It’s supposedly actually quite good hardware
It has to be to stick around another decade
I would like the handheld display to be a slightly higher resolution but I know it’ll probably be 720p again
But it should atl output above 1080 when docked (I hope)
too bad they killed him
yeah
personally i played 110 hours of pokemon scarlet so i can accept bad performance. i play old games on old consoles and they often run like shit there too. its not an excuse but its nothing new
if a Switch 2 has some kind of meaningful performance increase via bc, even if it just means achieving frame targets, that'll be enough to justify a day 1 purchase for me
I played 100 or so of Violet iirc and the performance was pretty awful as much as I enjoyed the game anyway
It makes me concerned for how the next game may run with the switch 2 being out
I mean, it is the year 2025
Games should run at 60 FPS at least
Stable ones none the less
Ideally yeah
iirc switch 2 hardware actually supports DLSS anyway
And I am not mad bc all current gen consoles use upscaling for output anyway
DLSS letting it play 4K 30-60fps when docked would be awesome
Not a brick stuffed in the box, always a good first sign /s
Good gpu to have as your first
6800xt is still great too
Aged well partially due to the 7800xt being mediocre but either way it’s nice lol
LOL
AMD Builds gone wrong
or 50 series nvidia cards
that's more flames and less smoke though
What a weird fucking shop tho
The little silo/hopper in the back looks like a gunpowder one
Or it’s just a shop vac
Probably a shop vac seeing the tubes
LIKE WHAT
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Uhhhh I need some sanity check before I buy
Mostly about the case choice though, which is better?

The CH170 DIGITAL is a vertical ITX case that has all the hallmarks of a high-airflow DeepCool case but in a tiny footprint. The internal layout provides a lot of flexibility for coolers and PSU options. - DeepCool was founded with the mission of providing professional, innovative, high-performance PC hardware and high-quality thermal solutions ...
I think you can make do with CH160
I have an Antec Flux Pro and I don't even use the digital display lmao
Oh, mostly I aim for the horizontal is bc of the limited space in my room atm, but unsure if flip to horizontal would it affect by vibration or nah
Plan to get an HDD for archiving stuff
mmm probably not(?)
And those are p cheap-ish in my place atm
As long as it has some rubber dampeners then it should be okay
Lemme check the manual, if the feet can be reoriented it should be fine
I didn't think you could buy deepcool in the states anymore
You can't. They're in SEA.

America moment
and you should be fine even without rubber dampeners lol
Ok painpeko, feet is fixed
So flip to horizontal should be fine IF no HDD
viyyy idk if it's an option
I was about to summon u
Lemme have a look of Thermaltake
The issue is, bequiet iirc aims at EU/europe market, rarely see bequiet product in here tho
yaaaa
They do have some really neat stuff, their fan can be kinda Noctua alternative
If not for Arctic be cheaper
I like their silent wings better then chromas ngl
full disclosure, I'm a bequiet shill
they've given me a lot of stuff for my business lol
And their stuff is pretty ok
Sad that their SFX PSU is non-modular, if I remember correctly
mhmmm
The baby blue and matcha are p cute
HOLY the price is double the Deepcool ones
But still pretty cases and pretty colors
I'm wondering if it's because deepcool ain't in NA no more that they focus on your side of the world
Possibly, deepcool stuff is quite affordable, on par with Vrtra cases and such
Unsure if for EU/europe tho
People really need to let go of the H212
Deepcool 212 innit
the 212 is dead I hope
I just keep finding systems in my shop with them
my hands have enough
It was one of the most cost-effective ones on the market
"Somehow, the 212 has returned"
Until the sanction that was
only in ze US
the 212 is Cooler Master lmao
these guys AK line
I had so many in stock
basically every system I built minis high end got one
It's like the h212 refresh tho
But HIGH END GOT ONE, REALLY
The cheapest AK one is like $30 here and that was already somehow slightly expensive
Which one tho so I can avoid
the one time I go air cooling
doesn't fit
need PC to work so I drive to my supplier and ask for a freebie
gave me one and against my better judgement I installed it
that
Oh ye air cooling height limit
Wait, l12s ain't fit, really?
...What's the CPU cooler height clearance for that case?
SFF painge
SFF is the only acceptable size for me
I am in pain lol
But now that I'm pretty much rooted in one place I can go full tower
Perk of working with SFF: plan everything include cable management
Cons of working with SFF: painpeko
"Planned"
I'm thinking of getting a LF3 for my sister because SEA is a fucking hellscape
ram it it
slaps it
"It ain't going NOWHERE"
upcoming hell DLC
It will be HELL
It's already the wet hell in my place
Soon the hot hell
I got one in Singapore because of weather conditions lmao
my friend is Vietnam south coast and basically lives in a hut
his pc is an open workbench
I've never seen so much corrosion from humidity lol
Viet here, can confirm LOL
The northen is even WORSE
Mostly bc we have a whole month of ~99% humidity and hotpot season
oh god I didn't realize you were a Viet too >_>
I'm Canadian born but my parents are boat people lol
Eh that's fine, peep here nowaday are p chill
BUT NOT FOR PC PART PRICE
It's still pain u_u
that's just sea
Yeeee
y'all aretech purgatory
It's purgatory ngl
Jank shiet, you can see sometime, at least not that much in my place
Prob more in PH
you can go into a pho place and walk out with an unbranded dell OEM 40 series card at this point
a lot
Some OEM stuff you can buy directly from certain vendors if you know how to nav, or if you ask them

Mostly prebuilt or ripped
Eh lemme check the price, I still have the vendor website on
it's cheaper in vietnam T-T
IDK HOW

And that's from the vendor who ain't cut that much fee
Others may be more expensive
And ye it's sold out
Ayyyyyy
NICE
Well SEA has access to uh, jank switches
But then again, it's harder to navigate
Clicky switches are hella popular SOMEHOW and I hate those
I would like some cursed sea tactiles...
Not really SEA, we just import those from CN
Lotta cursed ones
Something something like this
Actually they've been remove quite some of them already
Oh
You can have a look at lazada or shopee (those are SEA's amazon, same mother company anyway lol)
oooo ok ok
The widest selection of switches at the best prices. Exclusively at Milktooth.
oooo it's really Christmas
my headphone amp is showing up too
LMAO IT HAS MORE JANK STUFF OVER HERE
oh god
Dem niceeee
I need a new DAC too but eh
nah I want something nice
Schiit?
That's ouch
Bc I saw Magni Modo stack p popular
Unless if you want chifi shenanigan
probably look at a fiio k11
dang everytime i go to milktooth im like look at all dem forbidden taffy
2yo activated, swallow all candy
Oh fiio is decent
Better qc than moondrop tho
Lmao
trusty
I'd buy another topping product, my dx3 pro has been rock solid
Freaky ass name and freaky ass switches
Designed for freaky ass people like you and me
Switches do be like that freaky tho
okay, I'm back looking at PSUs. this NZXT C1000 (2024) looks promising for the money. the Silverstone seemed promising but a 5 year warranty doesn't feel great
Yeah I would expect 10 if ur paying >£100 for supposedly high end models usually
Most of the other gold and above higher end psus come with 10 or are a lot cheaper if they’re a 5 year one
I wondered if its something to do with Japanese warranty standards or something but maybe I'm reading into it too much
Either way, Silverstone (usually) makes good stuff so I wouldn't worry about it too much. If it survives 5 years it's likely to survive a lot more.
The engineering cost is just actually reflected in the product
There's like 2 breakpoints: Fail immediately/first few weeks, then fail in the first 12-18 months. Beyond that you would need a crazy good materials department to get the quality just right to fail at like 5.5-6 years
It’s why seasonic shit got a premium, they actually tack on the price to continually engineer and improve their products
My EVGA is still kicking and it’s been longer than 5 years
I actually want a Super Flower Leadex VII but they're not available in the UK
But it’s a Seasonic unit
Another engineer, or back to MBAs that will faceplant the company?
So I expect it to maybe die in another 2-3 years
on my 9th year with my EVGA 650 P2 (Super Flower Leadex OEM)
I got like 10 years out of some chinesium brand called Tagan from 2008-2018
holy fuck i remember tagan
700W Tagan with leds on all the cable connectors and the fan in 2008. Wasn't RGB per se but it was R G and B lights mixed on all the inputs heh
Bag of Jolly Ranchers in my case
hell yeah
Awful
Yep that one
Screw-on cables -- they weren't going to be yanked out or not properly inserted heh
you do want an 1100W PSU in 2006, right?
They need to make PSU scented air freshener
I remember reading a test in Custom PC magazine that this basically just overheated and died on them lol
The reviews on the one I bought said they had a 50% failure rate in the first year. Apparently I got a winner tho bc it was over 9 years before caps started popping.
the SilverStone OEM is Highpower apparently hmm
I think I was at like 9.5 years and I heard one pop and I just kinda ignored it for awhile
then like 2 months after that 2 more popped back to back and I shut the thing down and ordered a new PSU immediately hehe
weeeeeEEEEEEEPEWWW
my first pc had a HP Pavilion desktop PSU in it
Made pew pew sounds like you would pretend to have a scifi laser gun
highschool me repinned it to fit standard ATX and holy by god I'm surprised it didn't kill me
free 750w PSU tho
iirc I had to wire it in a way where it was tied to the front panel button so it jumped the psu
so sometimes the timing was off
so I just spammed the front button untill I saw boot
I'm more surprised HP actually had a 750w in them. All the ones I was aware of had the bare min in them. One AIO had a 230w in it when the average at the time was 450-500
I remember people janking two PSUs together on overclock.net
like a dedicated video card psu
jesus
yeah it was one the school had so I assume it was for video processing or something, these were donated to the school
That Tagan PSU was also quad rail, so I had to make sure I spread the GPU aux over multiple rails lol
but the school phased them out so I got my grubby hands on it
Think DDR6 will be available by next year?
Have you ever wondered how graphics cards are powered in high-performance gaming PCs? Well, here's an interesting fact: some enthusiasts choose to power their graphics cards with a separate power supply unit (PSU) for optimal performance. This innovative approach allows for increased stability and power delivery to the
CL100
i haven't kept a diy build going long enough to worry about a psu being too worn out
i don't think i'd buy an evga psu again
my g2 was in a tower that fell off a table, and then a heatsink or something fell off an jammed up the fan
the g3 couldn't handle my 9700k+3080ti and led to a lot of crashing even at idle
I don't think evga made new models
Could be wrong but I couldn't see any atx 3.1 ones
They don’t afaik
They still sell the dated but high quality stuff tho iirc
The titanium line ones are still great even if u get them used tbh
The T2
i'm good with my corsair cwt crap 😄
the one summer I was joking about my PC temps being fine and then 5 min later it fucking went BZZZZTTTT ZAP with smoke
PSU died and it fried the mobo
wasn't temps but lol
Funny is
Yeston GPU waifus are scented
But iirc PSU scented may cause issue considering scented stuff are fat-based stuff

NVIDIA killed 32-bit CUDA support on the 50-series, including PhysX 32-bit on the RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti, and everything else on the 50 series. This means that we get to dust off the GTX 580 and GTX 980 and pit them vs. the RTX 5080 in Mirror's Edge, Mafia II, Borderlands, ...
https://yestonstore.com/collections/rx-9000-series IDK when they officially listed them in the store BUT THEY ALREADY SOLD OUT ;_;
I wonder how they add the perfume
are they stuffing a little piece of foam in there
or just spraying the plastic lol
i don't think i wanna pay 900 bucks for a 9070xt
even if I thin kthose are cute
Likely spray plastic
But that DOES show there's market for custom backpmate and shroud
Tho speaking of the xt, the kinda ONLY one be SFF enough is da Reaper card
There's at least 2-3 things that could be without further information
?
I love DaVinci Resolve for video editing, but it has this feature suit called Fusion that's amazing for creating all sorts of visual effects... and it runs like hot garbage when actually running the footage in the editor
it's such a shame because holy shit you can do so many cool things with it
but it just doesn't like rendering in real time
not even at preview lower quality settings
Is the footage on SSD or HDD?
I've just replace my psu and gpu, however, the power button's no longer working
lian li lancool one, x570 gaming plus, it took me several hours to figure out what did i fuck up and it turns out after replacing the psu, i somehow lost/disconnected the power button and i've got no clue where it is
i don't quite see a label on the cable
It's going to be part of the bundle of leds
currently, im booting up my pc with a screwdriver
You need to consult the manual or squint at the corner of the board to read the wire diagram. The wire itself should say like PSW or Power SW on it or something for power switch
Three different motherboards. At least one ought to be like yours, right? How to connect the power button, the reset button, the busy hard drive LED and in this case even the speaker to the mainboard.
Doing this without taking out the motherboard so you see that it's doable in suboptimal situations.
Speaker special: https://youtu.be/aCCFlC_tlcI
...
that thing should be from the case, for some reason, the led's still work so i've got no clue where the hell this loose cable is
There is a positive and negative end you need to make sure they're put on the correct way or it won't work
They're all connected in a bundle usually so check that one isn't loose
Otherwise it's possible but unlikely the loose connection is on the button side on the case itself
im so glad mine comes with the lil plastic foolproof thing now
i dont get it, when did it get lose, the hdd lights still work somehow
er
should i be fiddling with the pc still on
They've always been fiddly and don't stick on there very well. All it takes is one little nudge
my last two motherboards came with those and I never remember to use them lol
Given it's the power switch, probably best to turn it off and flip the off switch on the PSU just to be safe since plugging that in might turn it off anyways
brb, hopefully i dont need to use a screwdriver to boot up the next time im here
The problem is sometimes that plastic foolproof thing holds them on even less well than the old way
it's all on SSDs, connected through DDR5 M.2
the storage is definitely not the bottleneck, it's a known issue with Fusion
according to the information I found, it's more of a workflow issue, the recommendation is to finish all other steps of the editing process before you start working on Fusion stuff, and to use pre-rendered test footage first
and also that Fusion when rendering within DaVinci is apparently restricted to a single core or something
meh I can work around it
restricted to single core
oof
i spent 7 hours figuring out why it was fucked
turns out, i didn't have a third cable to find
and i plugged the power cable into reset
lol
chat, what phone do i get. price doesnt matter.
i kinda narrowed it down so far to:
iphone 16 pro max: good platform that gets supported for a long time and good resell value. apple music with high quality. smaller battery than the others (but it might not matter since the apple chip is so efficient?)
google pixel 9 pro: camera is gud. i hate google and previous pixels though. actually why did i even consider this
nothing 3a pro: i love how it looks. its android and i can continue reading my korean toons. its relatively lowspec though compared to the others so idk how long it would be good for.
Current pixel is the best it’s ever been but the current tensor processor is still 4 generations behind apple and other android flagships
Battery on it is way better tho actually close to other flagships unlike the 8 was
yeah it and the nothing both have 5000+ mha batteries which is neat
iPhones still imo have the best video but pixel has the better photos and AI features are half decent for them
Yeah Apple one having a smaller battery doesn’t matter the 16 pro max is still beating out a lot of the flagship android ones with much bigger batteries
I have the 14 pro with the 3200mah battery and get 9-12 hours of screen on time from it
oh thats impressive
i am still on my, now, 5 year old oneplus nord with 4300 and i have to charge it like 2-3 times a day, depending on how much i use it
If I’m just doing mixed YT discord and other social media I’ll get around 10
Gaming it’s like 2-4
Using it exclusively in camera mode about 3 as well that’ll drain it on any phone tho
i got a pixel 8 last november, no complaints
Personally i think if u don’t play games really on ur phone then the pixel is the best option
Battery life is still up there, best camera on a phone rn, the OS isn’t bloated by default
Processor is lacking but if u don’t need it for much then u won’t notice
had a 6 for 3 years before that
I had a pixel 6 for a while was awful lol
Things have gotten much better
There is also the fact Google is switching to tsmc for the pixel 10 tho..
So I’d consider waiting for an announcement on the 10
hmm hmm
The 10 could be genuinely the perfect phone imo with how things are going for Google
i liked the 6, the only reason i'm not still using it is that the battery bloated. and then i broke/shorted the screen while i was using it opened so i've recycled it now 🤡
Yeah I saw a lot of battery issues with them
And the build quality was a lot cheaper for the 6 vs new ones
never really noticed with the body in a case
i do like that the 8 is like .2" smaller
If ur from the US or some European countries tho check out the Apple certified refurbished section of the website and u can get last years flagship for like $2-400 off
They’re a good deal
ok, im having another bizarre fuckery now
after installing amd andrenaline, and some settings later
yeah i dont play games at all. at worst maybe pokemon tcg or something like that.
i mainly browse or read on it. a good camera for both video and pics would be a big plus though
amd moment
if i give an input into bios, it'll be a black screen, but going esc > enter boots as usual
im locked to a specific provider and a contract with them, so thats not a possibility for me unfortunately
Ah
if we get the pixel 10 this year they might upgrade their processor
Well that’s fine since you’re likely getting an ok deal anyway
to a much better one
how bad is it to ddu no tin safe mode
Pixel 10 pro will be the phone I’ve always wanted hopefully
So long as they keep the smaller form factor version
I didn’t buy the 8 bc of it being too big
my gf has the pixel 7 and shes been going crazy over it
disabling fast startup didn't work, im not sure about changing hdmi cables, i've only got one and i lack the cables for the rest of the ports for the 7800xt
Everything before the 8 was terrible and the 8 was mediocre
I’m glad I don’t own one now
I have a friend with a 7 that’s had to use warranty like 6 times on it
The screen went real bad on my friend's 7 pro lol
Yeah it was screen battery and casing splitting apart lol
@potent arrow @sly elk daily listing finds in salt lake
upon using ddu to get rid of drivers, safe mode worked again
and bios
upon reinstalling drivers, they dont work again
not like i need sam anyways
no, i dont have msi dragon center
@dire viper it's hard to imagine THIS being called a mercedes
it looks like a tacky rice mobile from pimp my ride lol
i wonder if it has TVs in the back of the headrests
i need more of that show lmao
too good
warms the heart to know the work they did on that show was craptacular, purely cosmetic upgrades lol
what was that show again? Pimp my Ride?
Yeah
tfw one of your wifi APs craps out and you don';t have a backup so you have to buy one off amazon

"Do you think this guy is overcompensating for something?"
"Nah."
Corsair, RTX 4090 GPU, graphics card. computer build, FPS #shorts
goodbye airflow
dude's never seen a mining rig before? lol
Does anyone else get blurriness when they set the resolution to 144 hertz? Like my game runs super smooth but if you look super close, it's all blurry
Do you have motion blur enabled in the game?
lemme check
Or some ultra-low-motion-blur mode that disables itself at higher refresh? (I have a 240hz that I can run 120hz with ULMB for example)
Could just be you don't notice the motion blur as easily when the refresh is set lower
lemme take a screenshot
one sec
maybe blurry isn't the right word but this is what happends
if I zoom in it doesn't happen
anyone familiar with xiaomi products? i'm not seeing a significant difference between poco pad and redmi pad pro beside slight price difference
and redmi pad pro performing very slightly less than poco pad
hmm actually poco pad is online only so i might go with redmi pad pro
i love this build (not mine) XD
they have the sonic motherboard! ❤️
and that gpu looks great vertically mounted
it'd be even better if it had rgb on the bottom of the shroud lol
that's the ugliest Sonic I've ever seen
wh- where's the case
or is that case just so huge it looks like a room? damn
you mean poor people thing? we used to do this cause we had parts but no case
poor teenager thing
uh
randomly clicked a link on buildapcsales for a $999 5080 and it shows as in stock locally? -scratches his head -
actually could this be the reason why it's pixalated like this?
im kinda familiar with redmi but not poco
i think its the spec diff
do you guys turn on unlimited fps in nvidia control panel?
is dpi scaling overridden? windows is stupid like that
what do you click on under compatibility to find this?
nvm I found it
Yeah I don't have the high dpi scaling override checked
should I check it?
yes

lmao
im confused with my situation with bios and safe mode
i can enter it, but only after i uninstall amd drivers
Hold left shift while you tell windows to reboot and don't let go of left shift until it reboots.. it should give you options to adjust your startup or boot into safe mode
since i cant find a decent answer on google im asking here, if i have the option of upgrading to 7800x3D or 9700x which would be better
7800X3D
I don't play a lot of super intensive current gen games i think warframe is probably the most intensive thing i play lol
even if i can get 9700x at a pretty cheap price?
X3D chips chew through everything within reason
If you are able to find and afford a 9800X3D then that would be the better option; otherwise stay with the 7800X3D
which one
Arctic has B-stock of Liquid Freezer 2s and 3s if you wanna go that route
i'm aiming for a microcenter bundle they dont have a 98000x3d one sadly
okay ouch
i dont wanna deal with the weird mounting on liquid freezer tbh
fair
for am5 either go the x3d cpus or just stick to the 7600/9600 for gaming if u dont need 8 cores specifically for smth
microcenter have the 7600x3d still as well iirc
Gonna finally be able to appease the ipharts complaining about chat bubble colors?
im going to be honest, i did mention both of them
anyways
did a windows reinstall
still, the amd drivers are blocking bios and safe mode
that makes as much sense to me as it does to you
also getting to safe mode is such a pain nowadays
just restart without shutting down 3 times, plus points if you do it while it's booting
shift+f8 might also work
yea that doesn't surprise me
but it was the monitor
so my 3080ti doesn't support bios with displayport > 1.2
my samsung 57" uses displayport 1.4 but prefers 2.0
i have to manually change it to 1.2 to see the bios (and can't get full res at that)
alternatively I can use hdmi and see the bios every time
either way waking from sleep is a hit-or-mss thing, even if it's just display sleep
what's this with changing displayport
it could be the same kinda issue
this shit is so bizarre, i overlooked it because i did the step where I'd uninstall drivers to find out why im not seeing bios
i do find this odd
so your'e saying without the drivers installed, you can get into bios
it might be the same kinda deal though
safemode too
an old samsung monitor
the current monitor im on is an asus
but it's from someone who's meant to be currently using it
the "spare" monitor is a monitor so old from the 200x, it doesn't have a hdmi cable but that thing where you screw it in
anyways, my next step is to find out if my settings are making the rx 7800xt perform like ass when it shouldn't
it did really well on benchmarks
but it was lacking when actually playing games
by well, i mean it beat my 2060s in benchmarks
i can finally enable sam, but something else still feels lacking
VGA?
yes vga
how would a VGA monitor prevent bios access...
i don't have a vga cable
anymore
and
the gpu doesn't even support vga
unless i somehow have an adapter for it
making me feel old
so you are saying you can't access when you use that monitor?
trying to sort this out lol
the spare monitor only has a vga port
the monitor that i normally use, can't access bios or safemode with amd drivers
the asus monitor im borrowing can
wtff
the rest of the slots on the gpu are... not hdmi slots, im not sure what they're called
displayport
i had some weirdness with either my 670 or 970 where i had to use a specific port on the card to see the bios but that was ages ago
it's just displayport?
oh
I see
look at the first comment
fucking displayport weirdness
sounds like what you are experiencing
it'd be a lot harder and worrisome if it didn't even show anything i guess
least it was able to do everything else normally except bios and safe mode
so... what are the settings in adrenaline mode that makes it smoother
newegg has the 9070xt i want... with bundled with a 9700x.....
i already have a 7800x3d!
so baasically i get to ebay a cpu
bundling desirable goods should be illegal
that would be hard given most goods are desirable by someone
Yeston?
Dw on Amazon it’s funny
getting a gpu on amazon is impossible
People are review bombing the scalper sellers so you see 1 star reviews under listings that are 600 over MSRP
tbf they do make VGA to DVI and HDMI adapters /s
they do
but i really didnt think of needing it
the old monitor's 1024x768
which is... eh
...And EA... and ABK/Microsoft... And so so many companies these days it seems.
Don't build value anymore, just pay someone to brainhack people into double mortgaging their house to pour all their money into bullshit.
Line can only go up, the line must go up
line will only go up if it’s CS2 skins
Nah, line goes up was the 80s and 90s.
Line must up the go up every year forever! That's been the current market motto the last 15 years or so
Cut something off at the knees and ruin years or decades of potential revenue to make that line go up this quarter. Worry about next quarter, next quarter!
Also: Never lower executive pay or fire them for bad decisions.
CEOs can only resign but they must get their golden parachute or else what would happen to them? The poor things!
Golden parachute into another immediate job opportunity, because past performance has no bearing on future job prospects at the C-Suite level
Tough economic times I'm afraid, so despite record profits I'm gonna have to lay off 10% of the company.
Also I'm voting myself to have a $200M raise this year.
Just remember the golden age of capitalism was during WW2 where the government seized the means of production and told everybody what they were gonna make, how they were going to make it, what they would be paid for it, and if you wanted to buy a car you’d have to send in an official form to the government outlining what necessitated purchasing one
Using Firefox and using it there
no option for chrome now? 👀
uBlock Origin Lite
getting off chrome is an option :)
Firefox my goat
im trying to get off chrome and try out librewolf but
chrome's password manage is convenient and still stayed after a windows reinstall
would be nice if i could put it into librewolf, it just resets each time
Moving off chrome is doing urself a favour in general
Firefox or Librewolf people are mostly moving to mostly the former version lol
chrome's been blocking adblockers, so the least i could do would be chrome for account related stuff and librewolf for general things
On my phone tho I use brave which is chromium unfortunately but has a built in ad block that’s as good or better than ublock
unless i can figure out why librewolf keeps resetting remembered passwords
i swear i ticked the autofill
Idk
I just use Firefox
Brave or Firefox on my phone depends what I’m doing
Firefox on mobile doesn’t support ublock and brave has an equivalent so I have to use it
I will not be extorted out of all my money for YT premium
I use bitwarden for passwords
same
I love that card sm the power connector location is just so nice
TIL that yeston sells case fans too
Yeston sells many things that aren’t just anime girl GPUs
I like the actual design of it too tbh it’s very unique for once
I feel like Radeon GPUs have been getting nicer more distinguishable designs the last 2 generations
Reddit people are either talking about how good it is after they got it or trying to burn AMD for a ‘paper launch’ bc they didn’t get one in the first week
People do not know what paper launch means
People are somehow doom posting AMD even with a good launch lol
nah I think people are salty for understandable reasons
the "$599" 9070xt that was only $599 because of a rebate from AMD, and only on GPUs imported before the tariffs started on 3/4
AMD could've saved themselves that PR headache by not advertising the $599 price at all and just launching at 699 or 729 or whatever the 'actual' current price is
I still think this is hilarious
xfx is pulling a zotac
$869 for their bottom of the basement 9070xt non-oc, no rgb, no nothing
Yea even with all the higher end hardware they put on the boards it’s still too much
the sad part
Like 750 tops
try finding a 5070ti in stock for less
Lmao
Yes but given people would also be happy with that I don’t see why anyone cares it’s not $600
Best case it’s $600
Worst case rn still way better than other options
there's a few reasons but I think a good chunk of it is
they launched it at $599, and now you're seeing retailers asking $700-800 for them
at first it was the 9070XT OC models with the fancy shrouds
but now even the cheap models are solidly above 700
Retailers were charging $800 day 1 anyway has nothing to do with the rebate
As soon as they realised they could charge more they did
Same as Nvidia cards were with retailers
Only real problem is not having a reference model from AMD
they can charge the same price if they want, both are sold out instantly anyway
I hate under stocked launches 💔
I don’t think AMD could’ve stocked enough for demand for these
Nvidia having like 10 5070s in the world wasn’t helping the demand for a gpu overall
frfr
Wait another month
Because NVIDIA is incapable of stocking anything and AMD seemingly was puffing along just fine
People have been advising to wait for the 9070 before buying for the last few months
People want to upgrade
People can’t get the Nvidia GPUs
There’s a LOT of people who want one rn
yea nvidia doesn't wana sell consumer gpus if they can get 3x more selling them as ai compute units
isn't that the whole crux with the 50 series in the first place
And also NVIDIA ate shit with faulty hardware probably requiring revalidation of all existing chips and
AMD had all the time in the world
AMD makes half as much but still way more than gaming market from cdna
NVIDIA still probably doesn’t even know why the chips are defective I bet
Even datacenters are buying AMD bc is it better? Not really
Is it half the price tho? Yes
tbh the yields they are having seem better than they expected
erm if the intent of the 50 series was to sell the defective 'but good enough' AI chips
Nothing is gonna come of the egregious 50 series launch unfortunately
and they thought there'd be enough defective chips to stock 50 series cards
I mean it is still like 15% of revenue which they should care about
yea duh lol
they don't have any obligation to provide the public with gaming GPUs
I mean the % of revenue is still a good chunk even if a minority of it
I honestly wonder if the commercial stuff is defective also which would be extremely problematic
A company doesn’t enjoy 10-20% of their revenue being cut down either
besides, you know what would be more profitable than selling gpus?
selling access to geforce now
Imagine selling shit like that to IBM or Amazon or Microsoft
True
even better
if they moved both the ai customers and the gaming customers to their cloud services
Would actually work if internet wasn’t awful in most of the world
