the amd card is cheaper
Some people seem to think the 5070ti is going to stop being obscenely expensive much sooner than it will be
MUCH cheaper
Tbf AMDs xx70 is what the tier should be and Nvidias is just underwhelming which makes the comparison wrong again
People are saying Nvidia will just lower prices and then AMD won’t seem good but like
and the launch price it had
No one seems to understand amd will just do the same thing
and then iirc someone at nvidia straight up said they made a mistake making the 3080 too cheap
There’s no reference cards for either of the cards in the price bracket so
It’s all on stock and pricing by retailers
Which AMD does much better at recently
The 10GB 3080 was too expensive lmao
30 series would’ve actually been alright without external factors ruining it
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Apparently it is not just RTX 5090 and RTX 5070 Ti, but also 5080 Exactly how widespread is the problem, NVIDIA? Yesterday, NVIDIA announced that two cards may be affected by a production “anomaly” which causes lower ROPs specs in the final configuration. NVIDIA claimed that this can result in up to 4% lower performance, […]
the minor performance uplift being eaten by missing ROPS
RTX 5089, RTX 5079, RTX 5069Ti
sobering stuff
Literally rereleasing last gen cards for more money now
Good times for the gpu market
further alleged benchmarks
RDNA4 clocks super high
someone who allegedly has a card already posted on reddit that theirs reached 3.2ghz
So like is the 5000 series cards just ok
They straight up suck
There’s way too many issues with them on top of the mediocre at best performance uplifts
so it turns out my m.2 drive isn’t compatible with my new motherboard
it goes in just fine
but the bios acts like nothing’s there
sees all the other drives just fine, too
Strange, as m.2 disk ain't that picky
Have you check disk management? Prob it's just no partition?
this drive is like six years old
i can’t even boot to windows
Aight
I got mine for $800 🤷♀️
I cant say a lot but official clocks are higher
3.2 is the engineering sample
anyway
we see actual clocks in a week
pay more to get less? :3
the more you buy the less rop you get
Arbeitsspeicher sounds like masterchief went to type Arbiter and had a stroke
Im Cache yes you are sweety now go to bed
We discuss the long-term series on the Lucid Air. After driving the early production versions to the recently updated 2025, plenty pros and cons to detail. Would you choose an electric car from Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Hyundai, or Tesla?

having someone compare the engineering of lucid to the LFA, NSX and other cars is kinda wild
but interesting
Lucid being a power house in Formula E probably helped
they have lots of F1 engineers on staff that do aerodynamics and mechanical engineering
437 miles per charge... that shit gets better range than a lot of gas cars
and thats on the sporty summer tires
Lucid doesnt do marketing :D
It's not an SUV
and that
oh yea, that too
I think this will be a big thing for Rivian as well
which according to the people who have driven the test mule, it drives as good as the Air
while being like 1000lbs heavier
but yea i love those lucids and i've never even driven one
it's kind of a
"I'm not going to test drive it because I'll want one"
SPEAKING OF WHICH
yea lmao
yesterday I was getting chinese food and one of these was parked in the street outside the parking lot
and I gotta say
Taycan's look pretty good
tbh porsche has been
same with the Audi E-Tron which is on the same platform
making such cool color options n the taycan
yea its a really good color
and then on everything else they don't even offer them
just dark blue for $3000
or whatever
yer
the EV fad is dead bruh
Taycan sales down 40%, 911 sales up 30%
let's face it, we're regressing. hard.
i wouldn't be surprised if EVs were made illegal in the near future
Rivian and Lucid stand on their own purely because of their engineering and the fact they offer consultation
the only reason Porsche exists is because for 30 years they were being bankrolled off of engineering consultations
and Rivian got 3 billion from VW to do a complete rework of all their infotainment and shit
honestly I think VW got scammed hardcore by Bosch
Bosch went crazy with their contract pricing and was forcing new tech down their throat
but they didn't do quite as boneheaded shit as vw did
vw went full hog idiot
WHO PUTS CAPACITIVE TOUCH BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL?!
Chrysler has the problem of having a guy who worked under Carlos Ghosn in charge of Stellantis
they have a lot of problems lol
Carlos Ghosn was good for Nissan and Renault until he WASNT
it's funny because some of the key people who were responsible for some of the stuff they got right, are still there
he was bad when it came to pitting Nissan and Renault against each other and neither could do anything because of it
so they were late to everything
but the vibe i get from the internet is they forced a ton of the talented engineers/designers out of chrysler
they got rid of the Xterra right before the sales of SUV's became multiplicative year over year
just looking at what mercedes makes now, I get the vibe mercedes took a lot of their designers but i honestly have no idea
except that some of the stuff mercedes does now looks juuuust like the mid 2000-2010 chrysler concepts
this was years ago during Marchionne, but all the good engineers remained if they didnt quit
which is cute
because people are like
"Mercedes has sucked ever since the chrysler merger"

Marchionne didnt take failure. if you are an engineer being paid 500k a year to design shit, you better be good
which... a lot of them werent
which is why a lot of them havent found jobs in the auto industry again
sure it's... it's a balance
like if you're going to work on new novel stuff
there are projects and times where you'll need to work on something a while before you even know if it's a viable option
those are fun
especially the "trust me bro" phase lmao
part of the issue is the platform sharing. most brands do not differentiate enough between their models so most models sell poorly
but if you have too little flavor, consumers wont buy from your brand
the choice is what drives sales, but choice drives sales to only a few SKU's
one is the weird looking headlights and the tribal carvings underneath them XD
i feel like a jackass saying it
and it's not a brand snob thing
but i feel like that audi ruined the taycan for me
like it made it obvious the taycan is just an e-tron cosplaying as a porsche
everything in VW is
at least for Audi
Audi is commuter platforms and luxury platforms squeezed into a mid luxury brand
Bentley Continental is a Panamera
E Tron is a Taycan
the Urus and Cayenne are a Q8
or really
i think it's a porsche cosplaying as an audi
and yea audi is a problem for vw but vw is a worse problem no?
only for the Cayenne
and that problem started in 2005 I think
they stopped doing that
like a lot of vw purists shit all over the american jetta/passat as a fake chinese clone but really
that move was right
the german 'luxury passat' was stupid
the Phaeton was that last VW model that tried to punch above
when was that
they're selling the base jetta for 21995
a pretty nice car
the most boring sedan ever made
its only nice because it doesnt try to achieve anything
only the industrial design sweat shops of Japan could have created the modern Camry
is it even japanese
yes
Kia is Korean design still
i coulda swore the us market stuff was mostly us-based anymore
and Acura is US designed
the camry is a funny car
i said it's a nice car but it's like
idk i've driven a few over the years
it's one of the cheapest feeling cars I've ever driven
its weird because it actually wasnt. lots of Acura's were designed for America first and then tested as Honda's in europe and japan
idk if you've ever heard of them but Honda tried to make an Audi competitor
the only cheaper feeling car i've driven was a toyota tercel lmao, some random driving school had it. wow what a turd.
oh that's interesting
all I remember was the TL == honda accord in europe
but i never felt like the camry/corolla were meant to be 'nice feeling'
just
bullet proof in a way?
i'll say more absurdity 😄
the only american cars I can think of that remind me of camry/corolla build quality
(when it comes to like, interior pieces and not-drivetrain-stuff) ford escort and chevy cavalier
that's a special level of absurdity from me ^_^
i'm not saying they're built bad or anything
just the way the doors sound/feel, the controls sound/feel, stuff like that
paper thin doors with no resistance whatsoever when you close them
not the murrica car "the ac is on full blast you gotta slam that door or it won't shut" 😄
thank you for the unmute 🙏
thank you honda for naming cars the way you do
@sly elk I do agree there needs to be better blues
the issue is a blue that looks good all the time
which the Taycan blue is one of those
but yea generally the issue with a lot of new cars is how fake they feel?
companies try too hard to make one platform do everything
aka Mercedes
stop making AMG trims of every car
the CLA AMG's overheat constantly after driving hard for 5 minutes
the 4 cylinder hybrid setup is very bad and has made their extremely expensive AMG lineup slower than every comparable car
make a good sports car for each bracket. simplify your product lineup.
Kia/Huyndai is still international, prob just not in US and EU
SEA here and there's KIA and Hyundai flooded here
or just the design?
most companies have foreign design teams
oh ye the design is still domestic
like the Morning design iirc cater to SEA only?
Mazda is the most prominant for it cause their US design team is based in car heaven, which is Monterey, California
fek Mazda tho, SEA design is like chocobo doodoo
I love Mazda's designs
you haven't seen or try SEA Mazda
it's not great
heckin thin floor, so frickin noisy
Mazda2/3
CX-3
was it the tiny compact ones
things like the Carol/Flair
but you are correct, Mazda's arent THAT quiet
ye the CX lines, and the 2/3
the cause of that is simply they are not expensive
like Mazda is just above entry cars
it's the choice of someone wanna flexing a bit but still want to navigate tight streets in here
they're premium economy with a hard focus in simplification of their brand to allow them to make their cars extremely nice for the price
look nice, ok flexing, meh in other stuff, esp even worse for not really good drivers
the Mazda MX-5 is literally the most produced sports car ever
yea fair
most cabs in my place is KIA/Hyundai, mostly bc of cost-effective-comfy
it's k and it's cheapo
mazda's global strategy rn is just premium customers sorta
most of their sales are US/JP
and mostly US
compared to that
its kind of funny but Mazda is what Mercedes used to be
quite a handful of soap opera with the whole NTR jealousy plot shiet on a red mazda
Mercedes used to have a few models that they spent an insane amount of money on to develop, which they now dont do, and Mazda went from having a lot of models to just a few that they spend a lot of money on making better
my relative once had an old ass mazda and it was hella nice to nav in the city
look nice, rarely break, still chill with SEA weather, then they gave it to someone though
yea Mazda got fairly good after 1990
the ford partnership was actually good...
I want a Mazda Luce
Mazda Luce had the engine out of the RX-7 but only came in an automatic
but you can convert the Luce to a manual
so you get small luxury sedan but sports car fun
I HEARD MANUAL
SAME
so in my place there're 2 tiers for usual car stuff, the B1 and B2, B1 for automatic car, B2 for manual, automatic and also allow to join Uber
still prefer the manual though, good ol reliable
yea
I daily drive a BMW M3
old one
2004
cars I think that cool but probably arent: weird old Alfa Romeo's
Alfa Romeo 159
dem, funni front
yea :D
Alfa Romeo's design
they make amazing looking cars that arent reliable at all
as all good Italian companies should
oy I still have ptsd with Vespa ninjas
heavy, expensive, and quite a lot of office ladies just Initial D on those mop
but thats all things
SEA weather is gruesome man
good maintenance can keep it nice, though peep here don't do maintenance as often as it should be
the bad rep for European cars in America was because during the 1950's and 1960's, every year of car in the US looked different
and european cars took a few years to change at a time
so people would buy american cars, then sell them after a year and buy a new one
so lots of people didnt know how to properly maintain cars once american companies stopped doing that
the Chevrolet Impala looks different every year from 1958 to 1964
compeltely different bodies
besides the 1963 and 64
63 and 64 look similar but are still different
indeed american car designs do define the decades, but man that's a lot of old cars
diff body but similar engine?
yet there isnt an American car from the 1950's or 1960's that is as iconic as european cars besides something like a 1955 Belair or a 1957 Ford Fairlane
this was back when cars were still mostly body on frame, so the bodies were different but engines usually stayed the same, but ever 3 or 4 years completely new engines would come up
like unibody cars were usually sports cars
the Volkswagen Beetle, the Volkswagen Bus, the Volkswagen Karman Ghia are all the same frame just different bodies
so you can stick a bus body onto a beetle
@sly elk the Fairlane is so sexy
when I think of automotive Icons, I think of things like the Ferrari 206 Dino, the Lamborghini Miura, and the original Aston Martin V8 (pictures in that order)
the first two may fit in a Men In Black movies ngl
but dem the last one is p classy
the Miura is considered the first "super car"
180mph top speed in 1966
mid engine V12
this was the chassis for the car
designed by an aircraft engineer
Tony wouldn't be able to keep up his Fix-It skills if they were /s
the slander!
really what it was was that electrical stuff was hard
Italian cars were way simpler than american cars
like the amount of wiring in a Fiat 500/600 is less wiring than any of the cars that had power seats back then lmao
and yes, they had power seats in cars in the 50's and 60's
very very rare options but can be found in most Chrysler/GM products and some Fords
power seats, power windows
an original 58-60 Impala with power seats and windows is minimum 100k
low mileage (under 50k miles) and rare paint color, talk north of 500k
i feel this lol 😄
i love the blue of my jeep, it looks really pretty when it's clean and has a good polish/sealant on it
when it's really dirty it looks meh LOL
also without direct sunlight it's easily confused with a black jeep
i love that baby blue the taycan comes in
maybe i can get a screaming deal on one of those a year or two old XD
My blue stinger looks good in most light
kia stinger is a really nice car - we have a dude with a white one down my street
Quick question
My pal is getting HDD for archive stuff (library assets stuff on PC btw, not NAS), which is better?
after my promotion last month, im finally in a better position to start setting dedicated new car money aside, so ill be doing that next month and will be saving for whatever "fully loaded" options we have for a genesis g70 awd (with the larger engine and upgraded tech).
this year's model fully loaded is like 60k but im sure it will get more expensive over the next few years
GRATZ ON PROMOTION
The issue is if you're in the US, yeeeeee the tariff will hit which is
yeah that will make cars all >100k
rip
but thank you 🙂
for hdds, you want one that is CMR (conventional magnetic recording) vs SMR (shingled magnetic recording)
you may want to google those modelnumbers to make sure
More like, he uses it for asset library, which isn't exactly archiving work
SMR will have performance fall off a cliff after very little use
i usually buy my large capacity drives from external usb enclosures like this one: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/seagate-expansion-20tb-external-usb-3-0-desktop-hard-drive-with-rescue-data-recovery-services-black/6609643.p?skuId=6609643
then ill open it up and rip the drive out
smort
Altho he's using internal for asset library so internal works for now
BUT I'll need it
Gotta archive my library with stuff, it's still smol rn but it's growing
4TB of NVMe and can feel my storage is running out
Niceeee
im less happy with some of those Western digitals that i shucked but thats alright
need space for my plex
my only question is why is an HDD 150$
AUD
when HDDs are a thing of the past
i need >100tb
His UE5 library storage is running out
I'm looking at HDD in my place and where 2+TB
Ngl same, but then again, AUD and brand new
Oh, so they cancelled the Stinger, but the G70 is still going? That's good at least.
yeah i was worried they'd sundown the g70 but thankfully that hasnt happened
It's basically the same car save the front grill
Does it have a stupid analog clock in it?
And yeah that color blue is the same as my stinger (unsurprisingly)
Looks good in basically any weather, save for being covered in salt lol
Still has the shift paddles right?
And good, no analog clock. Maybe with the addition of the LCDs to cars they finally ditched that dumb design feature all the highend asian models seemed to have
ever since i rode in a corvette 20 some years ago and saw a cool little heads-up display showing speed on the windshield, ive always wanted a car with a heads-up display, so it makes me super happy that theyve added that to the genesis g70
Ahh, looks like maybe they ditched them awhile ago bc the 2008 infiniti has it, but it's gone by the 2014 model year:
Stinger and G70 are the same platform, so presumably they've had it since 2018...
ya stinger has it
And yeah, I really love not having to stare at my gauges ever really.
id probably end up getting some shade of grey for colour since the snow/salt and weather here is awful
Also the dynamic cruise or w/e is a godsend in traffic
I set the tap blinker to 5 blinks instead of the default 3. Only thing to be wary of is if you only use the tap instead of the full turn signal, it won't give you the audible blindspot warning
It will have the light on the edge of the side mirrors still
itll probably be 1-2y before im ready to get the car so im sure the tech will change by then
Hard to say, something like that I wouldn't think would change but maybe
Hopefully they don't fuck up the navigation bc I have the ~2022/23 nav version on my stinger and it's my favorite stock nav out of any I've seen (Although I haven't used a tesla)
sweet
The base one in 2018 was decent and I updated it in 2022 and they made a few nice improvements
i just hope maintenance on it wont kill me
It has the map on one side and like your next 6-8 segments of the trip on the right with names and distance and there is a ticker bar showing how close you're approaching the next segment. Kinda like seen in that HUD picture that bar on the right
i had an audi for a while and that became just too expensive to maintain
I got mine at 17k and it's at 45k now and all good so far. Only oil changes and a few minor warranty recalls
nice
I'm probably due for front brake pads soon though, so I'm debating whether I want to do them myself or pay the dealer
Brembos of course, so thru the dealer will probably cost like $500 just for pads and rotors...
yeah full brakejobs are pricey
The only thing that annoys me with it is it doesn't save your selection choice for turning off the "engine shuts off at a red light" thing
ever since i had a major back injury and surgery, i just pay the dealer for the work - dont do much car stuff anymore
So every time I start the car I need to press the button to turn off the engine stop feature, turn on heated seats and steering wheel if necessary, and adjust the performance mode. It will stay in Eco Mode if set, but Custom, Smart, or Sport always defaults back to Comfort the next time you start it.
Bc unless they've improved it, it's just stupid bc if the light is only red for 2 secs as you pull up, it turns off and you need to start it again and wait a few secs to move. Or it doesn't want to drain the battery so it never leaves the engine off for more than like 30 secs before turning back on again anyways. And sometimes it doesn't turn off at all (maybe based on battery?)
the auto-stop thing sounds weird though yeah
I read some ppl that left it on permanently and in summer with A/C running etc. they actually had their battery die at the light lol
You can buy an aftermarket defeat device for that if you want though, that injects the "Off" code every time you start the car
It gets fairly reasonable highway mileage on Eco, about 27-28mpg. 22-24 in mixed driving in comfort and 18 in sport
Eco really is eco though, the acceleration is quite limp
So if it's like all city 25-35mph then you can leave it eco the entire time, otherwise I prefer comfort for mixed driving until the highway, then once up to speed and not having to jockey for lane position or something, I kick it over to eco for the long haul bc why not
If you do drive it in snow though, stick with Comfort not Sport mode, bc the power bias for Sport is like 90% rear so...
There is also Custom mode where you can have like Eco engine perf, but still turn on the active suspension, for example.
I should really try that bc I do like the feel of the sport suspension
And in snow, that's when the paddle shifters come in handy to fine tune your gear for curves or hills etc.
i dont expect much issue with the snow since its awd
As someone who drove like 500k miles doing pizza delivery thru 15+ midwest winters: Engine braking on hills is a godsend, as is being able to downshift on curves/hill climbs as you maintain more control with higher rpms
So often I would see people get to a hill and tap the brakes and then their rear end would lose it and they'd go into the ditch etc.
Engine braking allows you to shed speed without locking up the wheels. traction control kicking in just isn't the same
It doesn't prevent slides, it just allows you to come to a stop maybe 25% sooner while sliding than without
they seem to be 70+ usd so it kinda checks out converted to aud + add some extras since stuff is more expensive there
as long as ssd are 2-4x the price of hdd people will keep buying hdd for storage
$100 for 4TB seems quite good. 8TB is the sweetspot these days I think when you get to enterprise drive pricing at least. Maybe 10-12tb if you find a good deal. But then your pricepoint is more like the $200-250 range...
Buying HDDs new for personal use isn’t worth it anymore when u can buy them in mass from a number of places that shut down
But $100 probably is about right still
Newegg has WD Blue 4TB for $85 atm it seems:
https://www.newegg.com/blue-wd40ezax-4tb-for-daily-computing-5400-rpm/p/N82E16822234536
WD Golds looks like the sweet spot atm is either 10TB or 14TB
Is there a way to completely disable notification on PC and receive them from smartphone only for discord?
I often don't want to be disturbed on my PC, and then the notification it's not always in my mailbox and I've to guess witch one of the hundred servers I'm in it's the cause
Not entirely I think bc at some point somewhat recently, Discord changed it so muted servers still ping you if they use at-everyone regardless of settings
So I've had to leave some servers bc I set the channel to mute, the category to mute, the entire server to mute and put the notification settings for all of those to Nothing... and still receive pings
@weak harbor Actually, I take that back, if you go under Settings >> Notifications. You can probably turn off desktop notifications and set notifications to DM only or nothing etc. and theoretically that should only affect the desktop client and not mobile
Ty I'll try it
It's dumb not all notifications are displayed in the "mailbox"
For example if you've a server where all messages should ping you but they don't @ you it won't appear in the notification "mailbox"
Done I've turned off desktop notification and set inactive period to 1 Min Just in case so after 1 minute I'm sure I'll get stuff on my phone
Can cheese with discord streaming mode
Just open OBS and do nothing
oic ... sure would be nice if they could use that nitro money to fix their shit tho /s
Haha fr /s
My phone thankfully doesn't have many problems bc I turned off auto-updates before they moved the client away from native android to React
Dem sameTM
I don't autoupdate, I update what I want but there's still update notification
ok time to pass out its almost 6am and I work in 3hrs YAY

Tldr summary?
burn in exists but isnt rly that bad unless u just turn every protective measure off
they run it in far less than ideal circumstances and dont rly have m uch of an issue after a year
theres a vertical line and a taskbar line that are faintly visible
with their enhancement filter
if u do the basic stuff like running the pixel refresh and other panel care ever yfew hours, use dark mode in browsers, and auto hide taskbar
theyll be good for quirte soem time
personally I use my browser for mixed use a lot, a lot of browsing the net and such, altho I use dark mode as much as possible
theyre also using a qd oled panel where if u had to use it in a bright room like i assume they do often u need to have brightness on max with the glossy reflections
theres only 1 matte qd oled one which is the g6
but so far the odyssey g7 I bought a few years ago is still good
no QC issues
somehow
i had the aoc oled one but had some image retention that wasnt burn in out of the box which was fun
i got a refund and just waiting for the one i wanted more to go on sale instead
i still think qd oled sucks even if the text clarity is marginally better
bc the reflections make reading anything a pain even with better sub pixel layout

or something like this
too expensive
{{ogDescription}}
something like this
just a standard mid tower
with decent airflow and good front interface
if ur ever planning to buy a huge gpu
id go with a fractal design torrent
but its far more expensive
the pop air is okay
its ""good enough""
for something cheaper
tiny microatx cases
just suffer from temperatures
high temps
unless its some top of the line juggernaught
also a pain in the ass to work inside
or get a fractal north and post on reddit about how you hate rgb
My current case is an ATX case
{{ogDescription}}
oh wait...
id get this
i say i don't like fractal but i'm the only person who says that, and the only fractal case i've used is a focus g, and it was a friggin turd of a case
its cheap has good build quality still and supports everything that isnt obnoxiously large
if you have a microcenter or a best buy nearby maybe you can get lucky and poke at some cases in person lol 😄
I heard that RAM I picked was not that good
its fine
the problem with that phanteks is the front is glass
its not
ehhh?
I just realize I can't get a G.Skill
side is front is fine mesh
oh wait...I can get G skill
for me
i've never used a corsair case
have randomly poked at one somebody used at work, it was nice
i have an nzxt case until phanteks bring back the old colour options
they have color options?
i still miss it
the P cases did
i remember every budget pc build using that case
the p500a was better priced than the g500a is
i think that xt pro ultra is a much better replacement
huzzah
So this is how it looks like now
i have no horse in this race XD my machines are both in old overpriced inwin cases
So...how is this?
my pc is in the nzxt case still due to nothing i like more
it looks good
semi reasonable price as well in the current market lol
nice gpu
may want to wait til the 9070xt launch next week
^
oh shit really?
also ye
wait for the 9070xt
but for now
look at the motherboard videos to see if the mobo u picked is good or if u want sth else
depending on your price point
I’m not sure the 9070xt will be a better deal than the 7900xt is there
It’s pretty cheap as is
Unless it is actually $550 retail and u can get one of those models that is
I heard people say it might be slightly cheaper
It could be a good deal if they have stock of them lol
Hopefully
The ‘leaked’ pricing has been all over the place and people have different ideas of what’s good value so idk
uum, my dlss is broken
idk what happened
but now i can't play like a dragon pirate yakuza in hawaii
literally at the start of the game screen is black
and when i turn dlss back on, it just gets stuck on the previous non-dlss frame
at least fsr works
I vaguely recall someone having dlss black screen issues recently in #video-games-general but idk if it was yakuza or mh wilds
yeah idk it just randomly happened
maybe try that dlss swapper tool? https://github.com/beeradmoore/dlss-swapper
could try
that just made my dlss dissapear from the upscaling options
yeah so i went down to 3.8.10, and this still happens, it might be just my gpu started wrong
and now i reverted to the old version and now it works again??
Lucius was having issues with MHWilds and it was because he was using a third party program to force DLSS which interfered with output from what could be gathered
I don't think they have nacs charger ports though

NVIDIA's RTX 50 series GPUs in the Blackwell family now represent the worst GPU launch we have covered in our history of GPU reviews at GN. It was briefly tied with past AMD and NVIDIA launches for the worst, but now, with the missing ROPs in addition to 12VHPWR issues, fake p...
I think if you try to justify your RTX 50 purchase with MFG or upscaling or some shit like that then you will be denied the Mandate of Heaven
I'm still just really surprised a basic "does every part of the chip actually report as working" isn't part of their QC process at either Nvidia or any of the AIBs...
it actually is
Did they get binned but then fed back into the downstream on accident?
every partner and NVIDIA themselves run a "program" that tests and validates the completed GPU is within its engineering specs
the QC happens at the fab, and then after the GPU is completely finished
so... there is no way to actually miss a bad GPU
unless the QC program is shit
And yet...
same thing if you ask a lot of people
Malicious incompetence
lmao
Just like the now-discontinued iPhone SE, the iPhone 16e does not have MagSafe connectivity.
This means accessories such as MagSafe cases, chargers, battery packs, and wallets will not work with the device. None of the silicone cases for the iPhone 16e are MagSafe cases. Despite this...
lmao
Wait, does it has FaceID/Apple face reg kit?
No wallet is kinda inconvenient, dunno abt NFC
yea i'm pretty sure it has face id
i wonder if they did that to keep a version that is safe for people with pace makers
Ohhhh ok, potential vtubing gear incoming
Lmao
Lmao

nvidia has recreated proprietary graphics drivers
bit dramatic considering how few games support physx
10+y old games for us boomers with big backlogs
wow I didn't even realise Blur was on PC
welcome back SLI
actually would be funny if they did something like SLI to scale back GPU size/power usage, a dedicated companion card with all the extra stuff they have been adding
The development it would take to get that to work would be a pain I imagine
SLI didn’t die without good reason
It was actually kind of ass
you're saying a 30% uplift in performance from a whole other GPU isn't enough?
Subject to it actually working too lmao
Between driver issues and just more inherent things to the technology it was kind of just awful for a lot of stuff mostly gaming
The children yearn for SLI/NVLink
Ferrari 458 Aperta Giallo Modena (Bottom) & Ferrari 812 Superfast painted in Rosso Dino (Top)
Very true. Most people that I know that had it eventually just left it off and then removed the second gpu
Anyone I know who actually utilised it wasn’t using it for gaming
The only time people did was like the 980 SLI rigs lol
One higher performance card usually is/was better for most workloads
But if it's not scraping their art to train the algo, does that really matter? If you post shit to Discord, anyone can already download it and do whatever they want with it. It's like an IG filter or something it sounds like
neat
instead of getting a title for me the dealer just gave me the certificate of origin, which is just as good but I've never seen one of those before

but I have other expenses in line before that, might revisit that later
It's real good stuff
But curing takes a bit
And application is kind of a bitch
You can make the application process easier by putting the pad in a fridge for an hour
I imagine after being in the fridge it's kinda like working with lead sheets or something
Or how I imagine working with lead sheets is
Or cutting cheese slices heh

It’s a 718 GTS
So exactly same as a brand new one
It’s actually a deal cause I think the brand new GTS start at 95k now
After the price increases
It’s got a forged carbon hood and wing, which honestly look good with the body color
PDK, doesn’t have lots of options so it’s acceptable
It’s got the suede seats it looks like which is cool
This is pretty cool ngl:

@sly elk BMW’s US factory is yet again the largest auto exporter in the US
10 billion in export value in 2024, 100 billion over the last 10 years
Literally BMW making a factory in the US entirely so they can monopolize the SUV craze and it has paid off insanely well
Beating Range Rover at their own game even after fixing Range/Land Rover during BMW ownership
BMW Plant Spartanburg can once again claim the title of leading automotive exporter by value, having exported nearly 225,000 vehicles totaling over 10.1 billion dollars. In the last ten years, the South Carolina plant has grown to become BMW’s largest in the world and has exported over 2.7 million vehicles totaling over 100 billion in value.
I guess we will see how the 800 volt architecture Neue Class EV’s hold up when they hit the market
BMW spent a lot of money on them but as lots of automakers pull away from EV’s I wonder if they’ll sink the company
Porsche canceled the electric Cayman/Boxster
VW group isn’t investing into EV’s as much as they were
And Tesla sales are miserable
Only the niche EV makers like Rivian and Lucid are staying strong because they make a product that is indisputably superior to other options. Expensive, but better.
Bugatti/Rimac
It helps that the sc plants are all non-union, so they're doing their part by screwing over the workers
They haven’t been involved in a suit regarding workers rights for a while
That is to say they definitely have been sued before for discrimination
They also pay fair wages as far as I know for the US plant
at least they have explanation on soldered memory though
It's a mobile SoC, so presumably the GPU shares memory with the CPU. So normal memory would slow down the interconnect by a lot, I assume.
the CEO explained though, in both LTT vid and the live event
modular memory as usual would have too great latecy, and AMD engineer simulated it
so it's the situation of we have good things work properly
there are leaks/rumours of Fold 7
ngl I feel like kinda mixed, unsure if it's worth to upgrade from 5
The 50 series is missing flames and ROPs
kinda silly unless they want to lose to Chinese companies I guess
Does nothing
Wins
中华人民共和国万岁!
i want to burn asus
my gf suddenly had issues with her GPU not putting out any signal.
lots of trouble shooting later, i reset the bios and suddenly it works perfectly fine... but ofc it took me a while to figure out that AMD hides their XMP/DOCP settings behind the "AI Overclock Tuner"
and now ofc because the bios was reset, it tries to install its bloatware onto windows again
my B550 tomahawk board ran 500 times better and was easier to use than this 400$ piece of shit dark hero motherboard that doesnt even have enough fan headers for a regular case
my current asrock b650 is also surprisingly good though
Ask Sarah about her Multiple Serious Issues
What do they call this business strategy?
asrock is go to for am5 stuff rn tbh
theyre both better for the money and just better objectively than most competitors' models
their x870 was like $170
17 seconds · Clipped by Robonator · Original video "AMD, Don't Screw This Up" by Gamers Nexus
AMD is funny but more “haha” funny than Nvidia
how are peoplke still complaining about prices when its competitors are like $300+ more than the amd cards lol
like yeah both are in fact bad but in reality its probably launching at a good price
Gotta consider the troubleshoot tax though
For CC, some tasks need CUDA, although AMD is getting some support
No fun shtuff for gaming like raytrace yadayada
AI self host is....weird, but it ain't run as well as greenies even though having more vram for better price
and somehow AMD driver is kinda brokey on my rig?????
Software ready is painge for team red though
I mean RT it does well this gen and the 9070xt is supposed to be even better, FSR 4 should be good, cuda replacement works in some software atm getting better
It’s really not close to being enough downsides for the $500 cheaper people are expecting it to be
People wanting the 9070xt to be $550 is just insane
If it’s specifically cuda stuff tho u know ur not buying an AMD gpu anyway so it doesn’t rly matter what the price is
I'd rather waiting for the stock and hype die down a bit, as well as better software compatibility
At least AMD route I can go full throttle linux, but will test more on some stuff I use often
At least I have an old 1660 OC to fall back a wee bit
joke aside, SEA AMD stock is BAD
5070ti is like $1000+ lol 9070xt will be good if it’s anything under $750
And no missing rops
Downside is Nvidia has the new house warming feature to save money in winter when it sets ur room on fire
ASSUMING same price no weird SEA price
I kid u not, winter in northern Nam is HELLA BAD
It's humid, it's cold, it's windy
I mean yeah but the 5070ti price is crazy it would be hard to make it a bad deal rn
It’s humid cold and windy in the UK as well
Still would rather my pc didn’t set on fire
Then again, weird ass SEA price, but lemme see my place's price
Part of me wants to sell my 4070ti for a profit off what I paid new and buy a new gpu in a few months but I can’t be one of those people
Cheapest 5070ti is £900 here
But it’s preorder
So the ones u can actually get ate like £1200
Quick recap for 5080:
Inno3d has the cheapest price point, ~1300USD, while Asus just be Asus, ~1600USD
That's just one of the more popular store
Fun
Yeah 9070xt hardly needs to be priced low rn
Bc 7900xtx and xt prices aren’t too great most places either
Ok got some prices for 5070 Ti
Asus and MSI are up for now, both hovers at ~1300USD
9070 XT is around 5070Ti price point
9070 however cheaper by ~400USD
Wait
ASRock makes 9070xt????????
ASRock has cheapest 9070 and 9070 xt so far
So roughly ~900USD for 9070 and ~1200USD for 9070 xt
Not that popular as GPU brand in my place though
People caring about brand is just strange
The only one I’d actively avoid is asus lol
And also availability
lol. mindfactory has a special section of the store for stuff that was RMAd but is working. there are several 5080s in there, i wonder why they got sent back
AMD in my place/SEA is p rare in general
Lack driver maybe
Missing rops
🔥 maybe??????
I love when my Nvidia gpu comes with 15% missing performance for free
Wait that Ricoh machine is both a printer and scanner?
ye
If it's a laser and no need propritary bs
IMMA SNATCH IT
polarity stuff idk, but its laser yes
No Chinese competition in the US now because of the 100% import tax
Also, even the Chinese company EV’s are slowing down
EV’s were a market fad for all intents and purposes
The main issue was that most EV’s were not normal cars for the sake of just not being normal
And all the ones that are able to command a high price are literally normal cars
There're also EV issues in my place as well, the frame isn't as well built for EV engine weight, weather and stuff
And ye it's Chinese EV imported and rebranded
VW used to be good cheap cars
That was their thing
They then tried to move upmarket and cater to people who don’t buy cars very often so their sales dropped, ie the tech fad group
The ID Buzz is actually good but its price is over 70k USD right now
That makes it as expensive as a Lucid Air, as expensive as a Rivian R1S
Which the Rivian lineup is an SUV and a pickup truck that have proven to be more capable than any other factory option for all the fun stuff like off-roading and general truck things
Pickup truck with more power and torque than any available diesel or gas option
Pickup truck than more torque than most tractors (semis)
Only thing keeping it down is the battery availability and the fact the motors aren’t geared to multiply the torque to even higher levels
Does it suffer from terrible range when towing tho
I haven’t seen anyone actually use it for that
Not that bad
Not compared to the cybertruck or ford lightning
Cybertruck gets like 90 miles while towing from full battery
The Rivian is odd because it has an actual full on towing mode
I think the hitch tongue is one of the fancy ones where it can measure the weight you are pulling and it adjusts things based on that
That’s how air ride pickups (like the Rivian) adjust the suspension
But I’d assume with the Rivian that it changes the acceleration and battery output
Found a guy who logged a towing trip with about 4000lbs
2.14 mi/kWh
He says he got about 4% of his battery life back with regen braking
Up and down and up and down the Colorado Rockies
Yeah Cybertruck is obviously bad but lightning was the one I was thinking of
I mean that’s pretty good tbf
I don’t get the obsession with insane amounts of range with EVs anyway bc after a certain length most people are taking a break anyway before continuing
I mean ur not meant to drive like 7 hours straight anyway
in my part of socal i'd say ev charger availability lol
also bad road trip cars if you're going to go on a holiday because so is everyone else so the charging stations will be full and have a long line
but
BUT
I meant the Rivians towing
Cause they’re stupid
how the fuck often does that jackass actually take road trips anyway
that's hwo you end up owning a shitty cuv
"I MIGHT NEED IT!"
If you’re gonna drive that much buy a Cayman/Boxster with extended gas tank :)
can't they be honest with themselves like me LmAO I don't need a jeep and i fucking never will
but i bought one just because fuck it
those pops and cracks
imma come stuff a potato in your tail pipe 😛
Jag is just more modern
And also jag can be cabrio
And top down is the best

Although Ngl
Gearing in the RS is too long
Old regular Spyder probably better
PDK is an option but it’s lower gearing
Still not low enough but lower
The regular Spyder also looks good
Z06 surely
The F type looks great and all but that engine is so much more underwhelming than other cars imo
Yea but Z06 no convertible
And the V6 F-Type is slower
Which is better for canyon driving imo
I like to work for the speed
Driving PDK in the canyons here is so ass
50mph first gear is cringe
Yeah ig I can’t comment on that I’m not a convertible fan in general
Was looking at e36s and all the ones below 20k are convertibles
Especially with how lots of modern cars cover up the sporty bits with enough sound deadening you can only hear intake
Maybe it’s bc UK it rains too much I cba to deal with them with soft tops especially
I can see them being more fun elsewhere
That’s crazy. To find an E36 M3 for a reasonable price here it has to be a 4 door
I agree that slower cars fast can be more fun as well
4 doors are usually under 10k
Most roads here are winding
E36s are considerably more than e46s here rn
Which is annoying
But also they were selling like 25-30k M3’s a year in the states during the E36 run
Which is wild
The E46 was way more expensive
I could buy an e46 CS for the same price as an e36
E46 M3 was more expensive than the G80 comp is adjusting for inflation
Ppl like the E36 too much
It’s a great car
But also you guys don’t even get the US engine
I like it more than the 46 but when a CS is the same price then it’s no longer better even to me lol
The US engine is a lot more reliable with the same torque
So it runs to 60 about the same
I want an S54 Z3M Coupe
So ur stuck with 1k rpm higher peak thrashing the shit out of it
Idk what prices are like in the US bc BMWs are seemingly a lot cheaper here for practically every model
I wanted an s14a out of nostalgia but their prices went up so started looking at m3s potentially
Z3 coupes are expensive expensive
Non M still 25k
Z3M coupe… 30k+ even in bad condition cause people cope
Most car buyers buy and sell emotionally
Which is why they always lose money
my bro has a Z4 M
Z4 M is nice
Same engine and transmission set up as my car
Just nicer looking
The Tesla Semi is a nice idea, but it's not the answer for electrifying the millions of semi-trucks that power our economy. But a simple, century-old technology just might be.
When you think of a hybrid vehicle, you think of something like a Toyota Prius. There's a different kind of hybrid system that's been around for over a 100 years in train...
yea i like it
why do they have the aesthetic of that brown truck from the movie with the evil truck
Mazda is a masterclass in giving just enough options to customers
CX-5 and CX-50 are essentially the same thing, one just is more off-road orientated so it attracts an entirely different market
Speed3 and Speed6 revival when?
Oh the Mazda6 was canned? Sadface. My last car was a 2011 Mazda6 when they first had the Kodo styling
Will people ever get off the SUV train? They're lame and boring and cost too much
no
Mazda makes good SUV's
that are affordable
so not the norm
they do the thing that most SUV's dont
they dont do the SUV thing
they do the car thing
Then why not just make a car?
because people dont want cars
I just don't like how high off the ground they are.
Even stuff like the Outback or EV6 are still like a foot or more of ground clearance
market demands SUV's because SUV's give off an air of utility that they usually dont actually possess
also the average age of a new car buyer is 56 in the US
so old people want something easy to get into
Because they keep making them more and more expensive so nobody can afford new anymore heh
actually just wages
porque no los dos
