Problem with glossy QD OLED is there’s no polariser as well as reflections so the blacks get raised to purple when light hits the screen

I have an AT-2020 condenser mic, but it picks up everything around me still. Friends constantly complain about hearing me type or it catching background noise from the TV etc.

and this can be solved with either proper settings via, for example, equalizerAPO or getting a fethead/cloudlifter.
the latter can really boost a mic and i also needed it for my rode procaster, because it was too quiet just straight on the interface

I love that the fansubber created Aegisub tool and "shitpost" file suffix is just an industry thing now bc it was adopted by CR, Funimation, Sentai etc. for simulpub releases (for obvious reasons)

Oh, she does go over the history of the format, nice. Also I wasn't even aware SSA itself was created by a fansubber way back, but that does make sense.

Of course, this all falls apart once one of those updates to account for that, but it's a neat idea for now. Also takes a lot more effort and time.

Yes and no. Fansubbing was always a "service issue" and since companies are releasing same day and date subtitles and sometimes even dubs, the reason for fansubs was eliminated.

In rare cases where shows aren't being streamed, or they're locked to some obscure service or the translation is garbage for whatever reason, you will still see groups pop up to fansub them. More often than not the most you'll see these days are streamrips that add their own karaoke to the OP/ED while using the official subs from CR etc.

Alright, tech folks, gimme a bit of brain power here. So my grandpa's PC is kind of borked. Right now if you start the PC you can't access the windows start menu nor the icons on the task bar. You can access some of the icons but nothing like internet and such. No idea why. Opening any browsers (chrome, edge) doesn't let you open any webpages, it says page times out, yes the page is not down because I can access it on my phone. Opening the webpage in a browser inside Hiren's Boot CD it works, so it's not network connection issues

And I assume that the system is w10 or w11

Second: reassuring your grandpa that his data is okay, there's backup.

After that, try the rescue disk, see the diagnosis and whatnot. The worst is nuke everything and reinstall, but hey at least the data is safe.

going to paste a big wall of text explaining an issue i'm having with my main monitor after buying the 5090

i got my 5090fe over the weekend, and have an amd am4 rig with x570 (pcie4) and 5900x cpu, upgrading from a radeon 6900xt gpu.

i had been pushing an lg 27" 144hz 4k monitor over displayport and last year picked up a samsung 49" ultrawide oled 5120x1440 240hz which i also pushed over displayport, but just stuck with 120hz there in windows cause i knew i would never touch the frames in games.

ffwd to the 5090, and i formatted my machine to rule out weirdness, but no matter what i do, i cannot use displayport to the ultrawide samsung - soon as a game runs, the screen will disconnect. if i hit windows key or alt-tab so it isnt in focus, ill see it, but hitting the game will be fucked.

i've had some luck turning off gsync/vrr on the panel and running 120 but its hit-or-miss, and running any game in fullscreen will cause it to get fucked.

surprisingly, putting the game in any form on the other displayport 4k screen is fine. and the biggest kicker is if i use hdmi instead of displayport on the ultrawide, it's completely fine. hdmi can even push 240hz 5120x1440 with gsync and everything, which is how im running now.

ive ordered a fresh, 1.5m 16k displayport cable, no difference, and i'm on the latest ultrawide fw. my guess is something is fucked up with the displayport on it and wont function under unique conditions that a 5090 has and amd 6900xt doesnt, but its weird as shit.
