The other issue is tempature up here. LIFEPO4 batteries can't be charged below freezing essentially, so your charger also has to heat the pack.

The solterra I drive simulates a very similar curve to how a car normally decelerates when you pull your foot off the gas. With regen disabled, it's more like you popped it into netural.

Anything less than max regen and it needs a real tap of the brakes to keep it at speed.

And yeah you're onto it: A lot of current mobos offer 3-4 nvme slots, and beyond that you can get expansion cards that support 2-8 more. The 2 ones are reasonably priced, but getting the 4 or 8 you start getting into the Highpoint cards that are like $400-800...

They know the amount of polys/texels/whatever they're pushing in scenes and what the fillrate is for the average card. They are absolutely capable of matching fidelity to rates where 120fps could be expected.

It's just preferable to them to push photorealistic graphics, then skip optimization because that costs time and money, and expect DLSS and/or framegen to pick up the slack.

Even if it's counter-intuitive to spend all that budget on rendering scenes, only for 98% of the playerbase to have to render it at 720p or even 540p and upscale just to reach an acceptable framerate.

It's basically the exact opposite technique of the WarpSharp filter that was the bread and butter of anime encoding 15-20 years ago

You would upscale it 2x, then run your denoising filter, then downscale it back to the original resolution. The results were far superior to simply running the denoising at the original resolution. The downside was it would "thin out" outlines, and at higher strengths it would remove fine details from images entirely.

Sadly, "clean is good" was what a lot of groups followed at the time, so they would run it at max strength (255) and absolutely murder the fine details in scenes and the character outlines would be like 1/3 the width of the original

i built my rig back at the end of 2019 to play xiv, and i like to get close to the top of everything to get me the most longevity, so i went with amd r9 5900x cpu, 6900xt gpu (16gb vram), 32gb ram, with nvme, so things still run pretty good, but i want more fps which is why im ready to swap gpu out for 5090

ill probably hang onto the gpu for a bit and build something inexpensive for my children

i would still recommend grabbing a better card if you can stretch the budget a little, like the 7600xt or 7700xt or a used older gen card. i think the 6800xt is roughly at this pricepoint now
