you had your heart set on that machine and I don't know that any other $1000 prebuilt is going to have a better power supply anyway. Just take a look at what it has when you get it, and consider replacing the psu itself when you have some time/money

Depends on your processor and any number of other things. Early generations of ryzens were very speed/clock/timing from ram dependant.

It's better now in general, but timings are also through the roofs to hit the clocks we're aiming for, and realistically, no, nothing a game will do will really saturate the bus at this point.

Most games don't really depend too much on shutting tons of data to/from RAM unless they have to, warzone included, but warzone is also designed to run on a wide number of PC's, the vast majority of which are probally DDR4 machines running at much slower overall RAM clocks than a linked DDR5 build

Entry level DDR5 is faster than some of the highest end DDR4 due to the memes they did.

You also may want to clarify with them what they mean by "work" on the car. For my one place that basically meant nothing messy like oil changes and such, but they were fine with something like a basic tuneup that could be completed within an hour. Spark plugs and wires, rotating tires or summer/winter swap, and I even did the front brakes once.

I've used wall chargers so much, I forget wireless charging is even a thing. Also heating up your phone like that isn't great I think

Yeah, if I had this system, GPU into the x16, then OCP mezz for networking. Slap a slim 8e into one of the x8's, then either a switched, or a 2x bifurcate for my NVMes.

That being said, this thing doesn't offer /nearly/ enough for my uses.

Almost everything is behind a single x16 off chip 0, so if you need to do anything useful on chip1, you're stuck on UPI and crossing chip boundraries all the time.

Because all your I/O goes through there.

The long and short of what that is, is just how your PCIe lanes are allocated.

Dual chip servers have to split their lanes to different parts of the system.

All of your I/O is behind your PCH/chipset, which is on chip0 (So it can boot with only one chip....)

So anything that's being done on chip 1 has to go through chip 0 to get to, well any I/O based op.

It's not /super/ unusual with dual-chip setups like this, but it's also why I very much dislike them.

It gets one of the OCP connections, yes.

But without CPU1, CPU0 can use it, but then it's sharing it's bandwidth with /everything/ else.

And the structure they used is that it would put your mezz card + your IO on a single 16x switch.

So nothing's running anywhere near full speed other than the x8 slots.

If they're working now when you boot, they should continue to, yes.

There is some concern because they're /not/ listed as SAS links.

It's more so that there are some companies that carry SATA over SAS, but it's not SAS so it can't hook into a SAS expander.

External JBOD's are easy, once you have your HBA in, it'll do 99% of the work.

What you need to do is learn to wire and cable it properly

I can only do so much until you decide what JBOD you want to use.

The big reason for that is that most people don't realize that most JBOD's can be configured in a bunch of different ways.

IE: Controller 0/1, port 0 may only access disks 0-12, 0/1:1 only gets 13-24

This isn't a HBA thing btw, this is on the JBOD controller.

Once you're done futzing with that, then the disks just show up as normal disks in your HBA.

The other thing to remember is that you /only/ need 1 SAS port for like 256 down stream SAS devices.

So a 16e is ALOT of devices.

You want 2.5 or 3.5?
