what i bled out of the system so far could have doubled as oil with how dark it was
dot4
additives maybe?
european probably
does sound about right though
oh damn
yea thats fair
brake fluid attracts moisture out of the air
so if you live in a humid place you have to change your brake fluid a lot more, the only other thing to prevent water is to drive hard and brake hard but you cant do that most places
my brake fluid has ZERO water in it cause I run my brakes super hard in the canyons here
so yea, even if it was still good, was one of those "this makes me nervous now that i know" after seeing it
the temp the brake fluid reaches under super aggressive braking is water boiling point
i live in florida, so i get both the humidity and sometimes necessary hard driving ¯_(ツ)_/¯
especially when were i am it's rural enough the main roads are 60mph but also have stop lights

they do that shit here in the middle of the city its awful
have like 6 blocks between lights on a road that is 60mph
cant even reach the speed limit unless you have a car that goes to 60 in less than 4 seconds
i could probably time it if i remember, but my ford escape does go pretty nicely
especially if it's in S gear (sport gear? dunno, manual says it's a towing/hill gear)
I like my cah
could be dry as hell brand new asphalt, from a dead stop if i floor it i still get tire slip
S is sport ya
just lets you select gears manually hence the towing/hill gear recommendation
i have to remember to let it start rolling first before i floor it
sadly
when you slam the gas, weight shifts over the rear, front wheel drive cars will lose grip
its why rear wheel drive cars go like stink
and properly set up AWD cars go even faster
the torque steering does throw me off sometimes though if i'm not paying attentino
yea thats real
Mini built a limited run of modern super Mini Coopers called the GP, they have 300hp and will spin with traction control off and if you dont counter steer against the torque steer
my previous car was a trailblazer, so rwd, and it kept throwing me for a loop like "great, i've got a worn rod causing steering wobble. fuck"
but yea, if i keep a firm grip on the wheel it doesnt happen much if at all
also i've had it for 3 years before finally realizing/acknowledging i had a cancel/resume button for cruise control
lmao
ive never used my cruise control on my car
mostly cause its manual so its annoying
using the on/off toggle was/is just so much more convenient ¯_(ツ)_/¯
yea
my next bout of car masochism might be installing a hitch receiver finally

U...
@potent arrow buy one of these ok
this isnt me asking im telling u
8000rpm in a not VERY fast car but a quick car is so fun
after 3rd gear it takes forever to reach redline in 4th but then you're going over 100mph
my car runs right up to 150mph
doesnt really struggle
cars without the governor do 176 at most
https://youtu.be/0NJkUqXBJJ4?si=HWCgQFyXFNjmc2BM&t=636 I wanna do a full CSL intake but it costs 2000 dollars to get the airbox and another 300-400 bucks for an engine map

class 3 receiver on wholesaler clearance on rockauto for $108
i...... might take advantage of that
...........
$146 shipping?
fuck
no
yea, but at that price i might as well buy one from the local uhaul for the same price w/ free pickup
true
although the real question's going to be how easy running the battery wire for the trailer connector underneath the frame's going to be
they sell kits for that
ford probably has a whole kit that comes in a box with all the instructions
"is there a kit with the provisions to add a trailer connector"
yea, looking at it now
the issue i'll run into is i've got to run a connecting wire from said box in the back of the vehicle all the way up to the battery
also weird: i restarted into linux and... it's al working fine now. no idea why itw as broken this morning
gg LOL
lmao now that's some Prime Grade A clickbait:
Should vacuum your room more, then not as much will be in the rad in the future lol
probally the hotels I bring it too lol
its portable
@potent arrow cool car of the day
Polestar 1
Uses a twincharged high output volvo 4 cylinder and 2 electric motors
600hp total output
only issue is it weighs 2 and a half tons
it was an extremely well built car new though, first top tier factory in china was built just to make them
I always wanted a polestar lol
the polestar 2 is my choice for electric
true
wuh
I mean the Polestar does use some Volvo parts
but now Polestar is separated completely from Volvo
they chose to do that cause it was complicating financial stuff
the Polestar 2 is really a peak car
even if it had a normal combustion engine
I want a V60 Polestar Engineered
it has 41 miles of just electric range
gimme
Idk it looks so much better then the model 3 too imo
I hate the tacky yellow seat belts tho
man this looks fantastic
but ive driven a P2 before and it actually sits me well, so uhhh been really tempted
ESD is a fun thing
they may be tacky but also no other company gives you seatbelt color options for cars that cost under 100k USD
I honest to god think that Volvo is just the new Mercedes
they do everything better
I dont get what the EE market is doing theres like 3 options for the everyday man and the rest are hypercars
its so infuriating
EE?
wdym M3
Im cooked leave me be
oh model 3?
yeah
I can never recomend the m3 after seeing all the fucking issues I see with QC from my friends
strangely the most reliable commuter out of the bunch from what I can tell
ig theres the Ioniq but idky i dont see those as much
I can tell u its not
its a Nissan
there general build quality isnt actually good anymore
yeah but for intercity and groceries, ive heard theyve lived up
the lucid air starts at like 100k here
people hate on the BMW i3 but its peak
it is the most peak compact EV
they didnt sell very many
here its either the fuckass leaf or the tesla
what is funny is they predicted they would only sell 30k of them a year and they were right
dont get me wrong,
i hate the leaf
its just the common shitbox ev yaris equivalent seemingly lol
need more ev in that 40-60k CAD bracket imo
miracle if we get anything in 30k range, thatl compete with the civic nicely
i see all kinds of EVs out here
going back 15 years to when i lived in the bay area (holy crap, that long?!) I used to see some weird ass EVs
considering canada doesnt have a terrible tarrif on chinese EV's, the BYD Seagull should end up in Canada soon
sub 15k USD
like a little ugly green car with a big headlight in the middle of the front
yeah
I think its crazy that Subaru actually did regional pricing for Canada
the WRX TR?
shits like thousands of dollars cheaper in canada
Vinfast is funny
because they had issues, fixed almost all of them in the span of 8 months, and now its a counter culture brand
Vietnamese company?
thats crazy
and their build quality is pretty good
idk how anyone could feel they were making a statement driving one of those
for a very young company
i'd also heard the front end design on them was... not ideal?
well, very young EV maker, they've been doing combustion engine cars
i think the name is funny
Euro safety reviews gave it a 4 out of 5 in safety
i was going to make a joke about GM doing that
because GM does totally do that
at least the chrysler platforms i know and love didn't do that
i wonder if ford does
ford usually just makes awful engine bays
i wonder if gm used any plastic suspension parts on our cadillac LOL
probably
i don't think so? but also that platform has been around a while
the plastic fantastic suspension stuff i think started with the current gen malibu
;which car wizard wrote off as mierda
though i think he just hates the turbocharged ecotecs and I can't blame him
real
we need more rich ppl like Tyler, The Creator
bro be daily driving his fucking LaFerrari
shit has rock chips all over it
he absolutely whips his E30 M3 also
he has a pink Abarth 131 also
@potent arrow rate the spec
also I LOVE that the E30 M3 rear deck lid is just a giant fucking piece of plastic glued to the standard trunk lid
with a wing molded into it
damn thats sex
Not the wheels tho
I wish e30s didn’t suffer from incredibly expensive car that is actually overhyped now
80k for a manual not low mileage e30 is absolutely wild idk what they cost in NA
I did almost get a 3 series from that generation tho before just couldn’t justify it, kind of regret it bc now they cost more
Just a base 320i
I just don’t think the 5 spokes are as nice as what comes on the evos
i think optimal height is when the distance between the tire and the wheel well arch is absolutely uniform all the way around
I should’ve bought that 320i man when it was like £5.5k 😭
i love those wheels
Now the cheapest one I’ve seen here is 10k
i miss when we did polished wheels
True
or just nice metal alloy colors
I hate how so many cars don’t even have alloys
yea the black wheels don't do it for me
what makes me laugh atm are the fake steel wheels
Lmao
yea that black car is a beauty
i think if i did aftermarket wheels on my jeep i'd get bronze ones or gold ones to kinda
go with that subaru sti vibe LOL
since it's almost that shade of blue
It’ll only set u back like 200 grand lmao
If ur lucky
That one was low mileage perfect condition
for 200k there rae a lot of other cars i'd be more interested in
For sure
That’s my issue with the e30 m3
Like it’s 70k minimum for a decent one
I could get an e36 for 60 grand less
they arent that expensive
60k for an ok one
most of the deal with the E30 is that, its a homologation car like a Mercedes EVO, and they didnt sell because they were REALLY expensive
cost more than a fully loaded corvette
now i wonder
The cheapest one rn is £60k for 100k miles and it’s not stock so it’s cheaper
i wonder what it'd cost to make a custom pcb for common old phones like
remember how certain mercs/bmws came with a motorola v600 or whatever
Most of them are more
the hard part about doing that is there's too many phone models
back then you were paying way way way more for a car that had a 4 cylinder when you could get a 6 cylinder 3 series
but still, could be kinda fun to stick a cheap 5g phone soc on a board and set it up with the hardware to drive the keyboard/screen on a common phone from that era to make it compatible with modern networks
hehe
And most of them are 80
hmm
Even at 60 it’s not worth that much tbh
are there any cases where you'd take the 200k
and just buy a weird 100k car and use the rest on mechanics
idk i think my i don't care car would be
Pretty much
some kinda 90s rolls royce
E30 definitely is one of the cars not worth close to what it sells for here
get my ass kicked out of cars and coffee LOL
S14 is cheap here
S13 is still kind of expensive
10-15k for an s14 isn’t bad
that is bad
That’s for a good example lol
its a nissan that isnt a GT-R
i remember when those were not unusual
its expensive because of nostalgia and drifting
i will tell you
also because japanese cars rust out instantly lmao
they somehow rust out faster than a 60 year old porsche that has NO rust proofing
Idk I see a lot of them here
300 is actually awesome
S14a for £7k was on marketplace the other day
I’d buy one for that much
idk why they kinda have a
1990 Toyota trucks say hi! /s
I like the previous one
the 300 was also an actual performance car
more touring than anything tho
Turbo 300 was pretty substantial as a car
dude when i was a kid in the 90s
cost slightly less than a Porsche 968
i'm not saying they were not cool xD
The newer one
they were cool
I see one at every show
to me those are like the quintessential 80s sports car
So I’m kind of bored of it atp
ahh ok
Friend had a Twin-Turbo 300 circa 2005-2010ish
the 300 also had actual performance models made in the US
dude the venetian blind headlights LOL
There aren’t a lot of fun 90s cars for a normal price anymore tho
there was the SR-71 and the SMZ
both were built by actual motorsport companies involved in indycar and GT class racing
the SR-71 Z32 had larger turbos, HKS powertrain electronics and a body kit
Idk if it’s a c4, Pontiac firebird, or fiero lmao
The mr2 looks more like a fiero tho
i want one >>
the SMZ had GT-R motorsports brakes, better intake system, better exhaust, more turbo boost
My dad owned a stingray corvette briefly, but he resold it after one summer. I did get to drive it once though.
Kinda wild doing 50mph in 3rd gear lol
well u dont rev out ur gears normally >:C
LOL
I can’t even do 30 in first gear lol
i didnt' say i actually did that
and most modern cars do 60mph in first
Uhhh wut?
I don’t think so
but i recall my 300c would do something like that if you floored it
i forgot how high it'd go in first but it was around 44mph iirc
its 50-60 on most new cars with a manual
which I thought was funny
44mph in first was like what? 6k rpm? lol
the mustangs do 60mph in first
Mustang is not most cars tho
A CX 30 is not gonna do the same with gearing as a mustang
yea but a corolla does 50mph in first
That still seems crazy to me bc generally the gearing ratio doesn't make sense to stay in first beyond like 15mph

you get to balance hitting 0-60 without a gear shift vs.. being in the peak torque band longer?
but with a newer automatic i'd assume having multiple gears is better?
peppy, harsh first gears ruin fuel economy
cause you're revving out
i am spoiled rotten by the zf 8 speed 😄
When I meant 50mph in 3rd, that was at like cruising rpm not even pushing things at all, not redlining it
ye
can't even feeel it shifting most of the time
otoh harsh reverse gears are funny
i've never owned a chrysler vehicle that couldn't burn rubber in reverse
i want that one mercedes that has 2 reverse gears
cringe long gearing in most cars now 😔
lol I still have to be in 3rd to do 50 but it’s faster than some new cars atl
buy a V12 aston martin and it will do 60mph in first, Porsche just got rid of the 60mph first gear in the GT3's because you break the law before you even get to shift
People do not need more speed in reverse they’re dangerous enough as is
The speed at which people pull out blind in car parks and stuff is incredible
meanwhile the BMW 850CSi has a V12 and its first gear is like 29mph
Subscribe || https://www.youtube.com/GuinnessWorldRecords
Favourites || http://gwr.co/YT-Favs
The fastest speed driving in reverse is 275.74 km/h (171.34 mph), achieved by Goran Drndak (Croatia), driving a Rimac Nevera at ATP Automotive Testing in Papenburg, Germany on 7 October 2023.
@RimacAutomobiliOfficial
--------------------------------...
102mph was the old record lmao
you have to shift A LOT in the 850CSi
My first gear is like 20 maybe
its also why the E36 is so sought after
I don’t pay much attention
E36 has pretty short gears cause its not a top speed car
E46 gearing I think is a tad too long
1st tops out at 40
I think it should be 35
maybe 30 exactly
Shifting makes it feel like you’re going faster even if it’s identical in torque and power staying in one gear
Therefore it’s better
the pursuit of top speed has ruined many cars
and also, fuel economy, to some extent lol
275.74kmh in reverse lmao
yeah, you don't think cars have really advanced that much in avg horsepower in the last 20-25 years or so, but like I was surprised how slow the 98 porsche was my mom had for a couple years there. Granted, it was their most "pedestrian" model, but still. My car had better accel than it.
Porsches main reason for the super long PDK and manual gearing in their GT cars was because of emissions, which it was not the emissions that you would think
noise emissions :)
california is where 30% of Porsches go
so the gears are setup to not break the California noise emissions test
honestly fair
Yeah I mean the Porsche is gonna be better to track still probably but they don’t feel quick on normal main roads
and also porsche thought that people wanted good fuel economy when touring in a GT3?
i hate it when cars are unreasonably loud
COWARD
you go live on a busy street
I mean they definitely feel fast
going 200mph in a 911 Turbo on a public road feels fast lol
I mean compared to smth newer that’s just got more torque and power you won’t notice how bad it handles in comparison unless ur driving it a certain way
in the US you know right away
i will run outside and start throwing oranges at your truck
handling is affected a lot by ride quality because suspension dictates both
and yelling that you have a small penis
its why a lot of cars just are thrashed here
That year didn’t even do 200mph out of factory tho lol
because they need to have good handling and good ride quality
I was in a 992 Turbo S on I-80
Did u read what we were talking about
they run up so fast to 200
i don't think i ever want to do 200mph in a car
no
especially on public roads
maybe on the autobahn maybe
We aren’t talking about new Porsches
Talking about how old sports cars feel slower than new daily drivers if ur driving in a normal way
near 200mph top speed has been a thing for 25 years now for top dog sports cars
996 Turbo S does 190
But that’s not what we were talking about

I’m not disagreeing bc that’s not what I was saying
and 0-60 times have literally been cut in half over the last 15 years for basic economy cars
Especially automatics for the old ones
over 10 second 0-60 times down to like 6 for sporty economy cars lmao
Idk most normal economy cars haven’t halved
Sporty economy cars don’t count
They put a higher priority on that
Corolla did it in like 8s a decade ago and now it does it in 6
not an Elantra N which is a complete overhaul of a car that shares only half the parts of a standard car
semantics ig
I mean 1/4 is big difference to 1/2
If the Corolla did 0-60 in 4s that would be a lot more impressive
But automatics are also a lot better on newer cars which makes some a bigger gap
anyways, horsepower has increased to counteract weight in a lot of cars, lots of cars have actually stayed generally the same weight so the increase in power is a benefit. most sports cars have not gotten considerably faster tho, if we are talking affordable ones. Porsches have by a large margin but a Mustang hasnt. the BRZ/86 hasnt. The Miata has weirdly, but thats because the power has gone up while the weight has only increased by 100 pounds over 30 years and the miata has only gotten improved with better tech.
the miata is closer to a Lotus Elise than anything short of a newer elise or exige lmao
I mean yeah the 86 went from like 190 to 230 and got heavier
new miata uses extruded body parts and lots of space frame esque reinforcements, using the most out of its size
BRZ same thing
Depends what car it is anyway, hatchbacks haven’t actually gotten that much faster, SUVs got so much heavier they aren’t much faster, sedans have managed the best in general for those improvements I think
that would also be ridiculous
it is funny that the miata and McLaren F1 have the same design philosophy lmao, simply the best available for what it is trying to do, which is being the best fun road car
The GR Corolla is 5s lol
Or like 4.8 in practice I think or almost 5
the base BMW 228i does 0-60 in 5.1
for a car you can get a discount on new its very good
I just wouldn’t wanna look at it in my driveway every day
I’d rather have the Corolla but they explode atm
do they?
Well they had issues
is there an issue with the i4
The GR one
they havent done an actual full on sport model for 20 something years, not including the Supra cause that was engineered mostly by BMW
the Yaris yea
I still like the supra more atm
Yaris is tiny compared to a 4 door corolla lmao
Yeah it’s not that much less powerful considering but the GR yaris is just stupid
I think the new 330i looks great
this is an m340i
or is it
did the thing lie to me
oh no it is
its got painted calipers
I hate to give BMW credit for it but. there touch screen infotainment is actually good
Quick bc it’s awd
I think it looks pretty good
A lot better than the 2 series lol
M240i XDrive is better than a Mustang Darkhorse at everything other than straight line speed, and its only slower in the quarter by .1 second over a 10 speed auto Dark horse
Mustang GT is so sad now
its 30k cheaper than a Dark Horse, and the Dark Horse is basically a glorified handling package unfortunately
I’ve always thought the GT is boring compared to the performance mid size sedans anyway
literally it would be better to buy a GT, put on 6k super bougie suspension, and its a Dark Horse
we had an exercise in this already, the Mustang Mach 1
GT but with handling
poor mans GT350 but without all the GT350 overheating issues
so its actually better
there is also the super snake
if you want a Corvette and Porsche fighting mustang
160k
Dark horse is what 65k
true
62k is way too much for that car tho
I wish that Audi wasnt attached to VW
because i feel like thats been the worst thing for it
I think they still have some cool stuff
the issue is that as margins shrink they've gone to excessive parts sharing
The S3 and RS3 mostly
car platforms shared between brands is fine, its just the Audi being built the same as a VW and costing more is wack
its cool that you can swap RS3 subframes, suspension and brakes onto a GTI but also why the fuck is that possible
It depends bc I think a lot of people will daily cars like the 240i or rs3 or mustang GT so like I don’t think the downsides of the rs3 would bother me much
the people ive seen with RS3's dont daily them lol
I do appreciate how easy it is to get performance parts for shitboxes given that I own one lmao
M240i's definitely
The few people with one I know do
they're like cockroaches here
yea the GTI is awesome for that
its cheap af to mod
If u have a polo/golf platform there’s like infinite part choices
but its funny because RS3 specific aftermarket parts are way more, despite some of the GTI aftermarket parts bolting right on lmao?
same part but 150 dollar price difference sometimes
the RS line has been BMW'ed in terms of being fucked over on aftermarket prices
RS3 is just ridiculous from factory id only want to do mods for suspension on it
yuh
at the end of the day just buy old cars

996 Turbo's are like sub 50k
speed yellow turbos are the most expensive at around 60
Some guy with a polo has a TT engine making like 270hp I think
I can’t remember who it is now
They’re not too expensive here
10-15k for an ok one
thank u VW for selling manual ones in the US
I mean 10-15k sterling is like 20k USD equivalent
most of the R32's I see are 25-35k USD
even if its branded title
Yeah that’s rough
LMAO
I saw one for 7 here but
It was not looking great
U can get a 2015 golf R for like 20k here lol
Hot hatches are like the cheapest thing u can look for in this country
yea thats about the same in the US
Everyone had them especially in the 90s and 00s
30k USD equivalent
I’d like an escort RS cosworth but those are real expensive
That engine is awesome as well
I feel like after Dieselgate, VW in the US fell off a cliff and never recovered
I think the Skoda and seat versions are cooler and cheaper anyway
VW basically actually made cleaner diesels that met EURO requirements sooner than petrol cars
the changes in the ECU to cheat the system were a much more recent thing, probably 2 or 3 years prior to the whole first break on the story
sounds like VW couldnt keep diesels actually clean and had to cheat to meet global sales demands and investment returns
even before that vw wasn't really idk
i think their fall happened before that
I mean, you still saw a lot of Beetles and golfs etc. around
market for cars has been declining a lot over the last decade
They were relatively well represented
VW just has an identity issue
Then again, maybe I just don't notice them as much if they shifted to SUVs bc I don't give af about SUVs and so I don't really pay attn to the brands for them
Since all mid-size and full-size SUVs these days look almost identical
BINGO!
imho THIS was when VW lost their touch in the US
and it was why the 2nd gen new beetle failed
and why the 'new vw bus' took forever and a half to lanch
porsche is opulent performance, Lamborghini is obscene
so
around 2004 or so
VW decided they wanted to be a luxury brand
... which made absolutely no sense because that's audi duh
The ID.buzz does look pretty fun, but I imagine the price on it is like what? 40k+?
its because other companies are cheaper or their identity is reliability or some political statement
60k+
its 70k
But Passat v12
which in the current market its not that crazy
Phaeton!
Lmao
yea the Phaeton was about the moment where VW had fully jumped the shark lol
and they doubled down on it
I mean, 70k is still like twice the cost of the average family vehicle tho...
when they were like "ehh you dumb americans JUST DONT GET IT"
and they started selling the US a china-market passat/jetta
the average age of a new car buyer is 56
and kept their $50k base passat for germans
I believe it. Can't afford shit new anymore
They want like 50k for a fucking Chevy Colorado
yes
It was cool as hell tho
Impractical too
yes it was
Everything you could possibly want from a family car
well the Colorado starts at 32k
but why would you buy a pickup new?
they depreciate like a rock
I considered a Jetta for awhile, but I think at the time they went with the center-dash instrumentation craze the year I was at the auto show and was like meh
but yea the b6 passat looked like a nissan altima and cost twice as much and offered nothing for that twice as much
The VW arteon is pretty cool
the jetta was even worse iirc
Do they? Has the market finally cooled off on trucks? Bc I knew for awhile there the prices were insane
the arteon is still a perfect sign of what i mean though
they tried to sell that shit for like 50-60k
and it's just a fwd econobox
yea, also depending on where you live it changes things a lot
and what search engine you are using
i thought vw was doing ok with their suvs though
but vw seems to have gone for the
infiniti/acura bracket
the "why does this brand even exist?" crowd
Infiniti doesnt exist
I mean it’s a nice one
like somehow
My dad was running his 99 Silverado into the ground until he recently bought some newer white fleet truck that was sold at auction or something.
acura seems even less relevant than chrysler
Most of the brands selling cars in specific countries that have other versions elsewhere suck
The 99 has like 350k on it I think and the truck bed wheel wells are rusting out pretty bad now and it's always had wonky electrical issues that were never worth the cost of getting the entire harness replaced
they stopped making them last year and don't erally have any left to sell
The only good one is Lexus tbh
but i guess they can't really talk about the one van they still sell
Opel, Infiniti, Acura are/were all kind of ass
Acura was just rebadged Honda's
but also Acura had an identity for a while
the Acura Legend really was a stand out car
yea the TL also stood out a lot
Yeah I think Acura kinda doesn't have a reason for existence anymore.
They aren't so upscale that Honda can't simply have a trim level that reaches what the Acura does mostly.
they didnt sell a sporty Civic other than the Si here, they did sell an Integra Type R tho
so Acura did fill a gap
Yeah I’m pretty sure Honda already matches that now lol
until they started selling the Type R Civic, and Honda generally went nicer
cause Acura was supposed to be the nice cars
They could’ve just sold the Honda one tho so like
It’s stupid
yea this
which one
Although I did strongly consider getting an Acura TLX AWD
the Civic Type R/
this is exactly the kinda thing LOL
Civic Type R didnt meet US emissions for a long time
i don't really understand it
The integra being Acura not Honda is weird
iirc honda didn't really do things like leather or heated seats
The RSX is also weird
Bc I wanted a sporty AWD car that had a manual or at least full bump shifting
RSX is peak
that was when you bought an acura
cheap as fuck and a good car to mod
Yeah but why it’s not just an integra I don’t understand
The RSX and integra could’ve been sold under Honda as the integra
LOL
one of the highest speeding ticket rates out of a car still
Atl Lexus had specific cars that u couldn’t get basically anywhere except Japan under Toyota
no i mean the tc at least had safety measures from that decade
the tC looks and feels sporty
iirc the rsx was a 2005 body on a 1998 car

my thoughts might be wrong but as I recall it didn't have any kind of electronic stability control
not even sure it had ABS
Scion tC? Yeah that one I thought was the only decent looking Scion lol. Although wasn't it a rebadged Corolla?
This is better
with the broken trunk handle
u dont need those things kyanche
lol
by design they dont wanna spin unless its a brand new type r or mini gp
I’ve not managed to spin a fwd car
you need stability control in a good weight distribution RWD car tho
the only way i've heard of spinning out fwd is hydroplaning
if it has actual power
If it’s not raining heavily it’s impressive if u lose traction in a fwd car
but i mean otherwise
losing traction is just gonna make the car go straight instead of turning
because fwd sucks 😄
also fwd engine bays are hideous
My friends still have one lmao. They got into an accident with it while moving cross country and the driver door got fucked and it's been sitting in their driveway with a towel crammed into the window to keep it sealed bc the window won't go up all the way anymore. For some reason they haven't sold it and haven't bothered finding a spare door from a junkyard
Nuh uh
It's been in their driveway for like 2 years now unmoved
I love my stupid 1.2 fwd creature
fwd is stupid
I don't get it either bc he's a CTO for a company and they have a brand new Ford Bronco top trim and he's got a WRX as well. So why they keep the xB molding there I dunno
it's for people who live in places with crappy weather
pft lol
no I mean
Not mine
give you a heart attack shoveling snow snow
the only time RWD is legitimately bad is when there is INCHES of snow on the road
not technically it snows
but your ass is getting fired from target if you don't show up at 6am in the blizzard weather
lol
and everyone's mad at you for being late
and your heating bill is like $1600 a month
that snow
thankfully in states where it snows regularly they have plowing down to a science
I have the best of both worlds with my Stinger being AWD, but does the whole power bias thing so in sport mode it's like 90% RWD
If it snows here it’s not a problem bc it can be dealt with easily
It rains a lot but like I can just cope with that
i woke up for work and snow was above my front door
Occasionally I’ll shit myself when I go through a giant puddle or something at the side of the road
But that’s as bad as it gets
oh also every single longitudinal engine is slightly off center for the transmission and drive shaft, also cause of torque
for me that was the year it rained a hell of a lot in california back in like idk 2010
How to say you live in Buffalo/Syracuse without saying you live in upstate NY /s
or in the case of BMW's, they used to be VERY off center
BMW angled the engines by 60 degrees and then slightly moved them to the right for all the fun physics stuff
i was going down highway 58 at like 20mph
i had a line of cars behind me and pulled over to let them pass
and they fucking didn't
because nobody wanted to be the lead lmao
hence why the cylinder head is all the way over to the right at an angle
Although I suppose I've seen funky pics like that from people living up near Tahoe as well
tfw when every time you hit a puddle it noticeably slows the car down hard
like you're doing 40 and hit the puddle and now you're doing 25
That's what happens when you don't bother to crown your roads at all to deal with any sort of precip
honestly that's FINE
cars are very asymmetrical because physics requires it
same reason why planes and helicopters are
crazy Russians /s
I assume some stuff is asymm so it can loiter in circles?
Not that a heli needs to do that to stay aloft but
weight, prop wash, a lot of things
its why every planes propellers are angled
mono prop planes that have the propeller in the nose, have the prop angled, because the air literally rotates around the plane and pushes into the rudder
and when its angled the effect is reduced
but because its still present, it makes the plane fly straight
very odd shit
I'm always amazed how quickly they figured out how to fire through the propeller with guns and what a simple solution it was heh
Dissymmetry of lift: 2–20 (also known as asymmetry of lift: 342 or asymmetric lift) in rotorcraft aerodynamics refers to an unequal amount of lift on opposite sides of the rotor disc. It is a phenomenon that affects single-rotor helicopters and autogyros in forward flight.

Lmao Wtf is going on
Disabling all E cores boosts gaming performance by 10%
disabling all but 1 P core also boosts gaming performance by 10%
wtf lol
It's so fucking wild
lmao
Like
??????
Boosting gaming performance by 10% would unironically make it at least competitive
Intel moment
Intel promised us dropping hyperthreading for more E cores would be good
They’re working out real well it seems
That happened with raptor lake tho with scheduling too
I’ve seen a lot of people who waited for the U9 now buying the 9950x tho
Hardware companies design a good product challenge
X3D CPUs:
True
Crazy after how good the 5800x3D was designed that the newer 3Ds aren't as good
But maybe that's intended
What? The new ones are definitely as good
The 7800x3d and 7600x3d and 7950x3d are faster than anything else pretty much
Let alone when 9000 ones are out
Oh yeah I know the performance is good. More so meaning they could have done better like they did for the 5800x3D
5800x3D vcache was legendary
Yeah but I mean the 7000 is exactly the same
The problem is comparing the 5800x3d to non x3d CPUs and comparing the 7800x3d to the 5800x3d
And 5000 was a decent step up on 3000 anyway
I think you underestimate how good the 7800x3d is tho
I don't mean that the performance is bad by any means. More so that I think AMD could have given more to us at the price point if that makes sense
Nvidia, intel, and amd could all stand to do better at the price points. But ig lack of competition maybe
I feel like at the price given, the 5800x3D was doing better by the consumer, not that either of them are bad chips
yea AMD has a habit of doing that
if they make a very successful product, the next gen of it tends to be kinda conservative because they're like "oh people are gonna buy this anyway so let's screw them a little for more profit"
the way I saw it when I bought my 7800x3d a year and a half ago was the 7800x3d is just a 5800x3d on a ddr5 platform
at the time the benchmarks kinda looked that way too LOL
there was zero reason for someone owning an am4 motherboard to buy a new motherboard to get a 7800x3d unless they really wanted a new motherboard
AM4 itself was AWESOME
you're talking about motherboards from 2017-2018 still being relevant today
i initially ordered an x470+1700x I think and canceled it and ordered a z390 and 9700k
that was a huge mistake lmao
oh well, I like my x870e+7800x3d 🙂
hmmmm
should i buy a 2.5gbe switch :3
the $49 ubiquiti one is in stock again
What chipset is the x870e even using tho lol bc the x870 is just the b650e is the x870e much over the x670e
but i will probably buy a 9x00x3d when they come out
Is it just PCIe 5 lanes
but what i really want
if the prices are good anyway?
probably a radeon 8900xtx or whatever the heck they call it
That won’t exist
as long as they don't do 12vhpwr
They’re not making high end cards next gen
that sucks :\
I thought they were just not trying
Even the 30-40 series jump looks better
i assume an 8800xt would be faster than a 7900xtx?
maybe?
maybe it makes the 7900xtx cheaper? :3
i want an amd card because nvidia linux drivers annoy me a bit
Afaik they’re only targeting the market that makes them the most money anyway
and hdmi 2.x
Well the 7800xt isn’t faster than the 6950xt so not sure
The 7800xt is equal to the 6900xt ish
So maybe 7900gre or 7900xt if they make an 8800xt
as it stands i've got a 3080ti and it
But each generation so far AMDs RT performance has gotten closer to Nvidias as well
I have a 4070ti that I’ll replace with a used 4090 tbh
7900xtx isn’t a big step up for me
it drives my 7680x2160 monitor, but only at 120hz
and the games i play on it play fine, but around 90fps lol
I might get a 32” 4K OLED if I get a 4090 tbh
but also
I’d like a bigger display
iirc aside from vram the 7900xtx was more of a side-grade that would cost $$
7900xtx is quite a bit better
and i'd be the dumbass to want the sapphire nitro 😄
so more like a $400 sorta but not really upgrade
It’s like 30% faster iirc
Its onlt 20% faster than mine and not even that in games I play so I cba
I don’t think the 7900xt or xtx were amazing anyway
$1000 launch price on the xtx killed it for me
Almost same price as a 4080 and it has worse power draw, RT, and back then FSR sucked
7900xt launching at over £100 more than the 4070ti here was funny tho
Idk in what world they thought people would buy that
U could get one for $740 like a month ago I think
The 7900xt was $650 I think as well
4080super is $900 now too
Battlemage won’t save us I think lmao
3 days ago you could get a sapphire pulse 7900xt for 635
Yeah sounds about right
4070ti is like 650 now too bc of the super which is a weird price
The 4070ti super is like the same price as the 7900xtx it’s weird
the 7900xt pulse is currently 649 on newegg
Cheap
Not a big upgrade from the 3080ti tho lol
It’s actually impressive that the 6900xt was faster than the 3090
xtx didn’t manage such feats
Like 6950xt matched the 3090ti up to 4K and the 4090 is 30% faster than the 7900xtx lmao

Henry Catchpole reviews the new Aston Martin Vanquish on the island of Sardinia in this latest episode of The Driver’s Seat. He tries really hard to steer clear of any references to James Bond but if there’s a famous hotel, a fast boat and an Aston Martin, what’s a chap to do?
Don’t worry, though, it’s not all Roger Moore and Martinis - there is...
those things are almost certainly overkill
but yea if you want a rackmount case with drive sleds
but the price isn't too shocking
Why not?
I need to find a colo that’ll give me 25amps or so
I need to rack the nas somewhere xD
why not just use an atx case with a bunch of drives
there are some cases with a pipes of HDD space
ram in a fuck ton of icy docks into a cheap case
basically what I did
that's why I use icy docks loo
I don't really hotswap too often tho tbh
only when drives are fubared
Icy docks are expensive
Trayless hot swap is where it’s at
Though I might get that super micro with room for 24? Drives
Just get myself one of these and be done with it
That’s what I’d do tbh
16 slots is a little limiting, 36 would be nice
And turning on the 60 bay monster is hard inside of the house
