Consumer mentality isn’t so much buying something good and replacing when it breaks but buying the newest thing to upgrade every year bc it’s 5% better

ahh i put my NVR on top of a box so I could figure out why the hell it makes that ticking sound for sure

the fans make that noise when they start spinning

and the problem is if the pwm is set too low the fan doesn't actually stay spinning

it keeps stopping and restarting

(it's a linux machine! there's a known file descriptor you can echo numbers at and it will change the PWM duty cycle. Nice)

I think their firmware is stupid and putting a duty cycle too low

seems anything under about 25% will cause the fans to stall out periodically resulting in those clicks

In the UK it’s completely mixed still depending on what people can afford

Most people are on contracts with a flagship Google/iphone/samsung bc they got a deal

U don’t rly get a good deal on like Sony or Xiaomi or Honor or smth more random

That's true here too and the real flex are the sony phones and like Asus rog phones and other weird cool hype phones that cost over a grand but you can't get carrier financing deals on them
