It’s going to be significantly better. Going from 10nm to 3 is a huge leap
The notebook chips are already out and have had plenty of praise
competition is good
that's for the performance profile (set to PL2 on 7/9 cpus, or 159w on 5 245K). blame intel for it still being confusing (also that you can ignore the extreme profile's existence)
so yet another thing that needs benchmarking (the impact of the new intel default or performance profile has on amount of work done to electricity used)
waiting has always been worth it for me personally, good things have always come if I was patient
you understand why i don't want it
i will say
between my asus z390 maximus hero ... and my x670e carbon, yea the asus had better audio i think
but also, are you even using onboard audio?
and for the price difference between a board with high end audio and a board without, you can buy a nice dac anyway
yeah although it's never available in the US so the next least bad option for me is a asrock b650 pg lightning (and buy a intel ax210 wifi card separate)
guess im lucky that i got my hands on one
it's just affordable ($150 us moneys) and decent
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NQHkDEcgDPm34Mns3C93K6SJoBnua-x9O-y_6hv8sPs/edit?gid=0#gid=0
8 layer board, no disassembly to put in mentioned wifi card, plenty of usable pcie slots/m2 slots for my garbage
since I'll use a x3d cpu the vrm's are whatever
also its one of the few b650 boards that come with a good amount of USB ports in general and USB-C 3.2 10gb without costing 250-400$
I think imma upgrade to either current gen or next gen if there are boards w plethora of ports like that
hehe
@tame fulcrum i'm surprised you don't have some KEFs or some other reddit approved speaker
i guess edifers?
heheh
sooo I think what i'm going to do is buy one of these because it comes with a free g4 pro camera... and it turns out I do want one of those
kinda laughing at the absurdity of buying a 7 disk NVR
i guess i could load it up with cheap 1tb ssds
yeaa actually that's not a bad idea
caring about audio enough to buy a specific board but not buying a DAC instead is insane to me
Like a reasonably priced dac is miles better than any expensive motherboard is
I can’t even post any screenshots anymore without discord nitro now that u have 4k displays…
desktop still doesn't have automatic compression does it?
I agree lol
But when they do it well it does work well
My old Asus board used an ess dac and had very good amplification on the headphone jack
But here's the problem with thar
Aside from the noise inside the case the headphone io header is probably the world's cheapest wiring hahaha
Not hard to fix that though
And when I plug my dt880a into my. Computer it's not like I could sit there and go oh this is crap boy do I wish I had some good Schitt right now
Too noisy a house for that lmao
Everything integrated onto an expensive motherboard can be had cheaper separately and the dac is one of those things lol
i think anyone who cares about audio should just get the $50 dac and be happy
good investment
put it under the desk
More shit under my desk
a lot of people make smth to attach it to the bottom
lol
My amd motherboard uses a ducking usb audio chip
i ke ep mine on my desk but its tiny so
i had an audio interface already
Sweet
theres smaller ones u can get than this
I just use wharber
i got focusrite on sale
Wharber lol wtf whatever 8 mean
I have a focus rite and my elgato wave 3 has a good headphone jack lmao
nice
Like real good
focusrite stuff is overpriced normally tbh
i have an actual amp as well but that is NOT going on my desk
im gonna just put it somewhere else and have cables long enough to reach
i got it for free i wouldnt have bought one usually
Even someone here had a Schitt thing break on them
havent seen it
And it's like dude how do you fuck something up like that lol
skill
i got a schiit stack back when everyone was still talking about how great they are for the price
nothing is cheap anymore
And they are kinda weirdooking
turning 5 years old soon and still holding up, except the volume knob sometimes rubbing and generating noise, but moving it back and forth a couple times every few weeks fixes that
manufacturing defects etc happen all the time
Someone sniffed too much solder
at least its not like audient and their weird history with dacs/amps suddenly sending deafening noise through your speakers
Isn't audiemt the one that makes Hella expensive cables wait no that's not
Audiemt is the id4 company
ye
I remember seeing those reviews lmao
Omg I spent like 2 weeks agonizing over which interface to hit
Ended up just buyinv a scarlet solo for like 89 bucks on sale at Amazon
i just went with trusty old focusrite right away. still regret not getting the scarlett solo 4th gen, because it has the XLR port on the backside, which would have been ideal for me
No I a. Thrilled
I almost spent twice that for a ua volt
And I wanted the fancy one with thw wood sides and the knobs on top
Those are giant fucking ripoff lmao

my biggest disappointment was that nobody prepared me that i would need a fethead or cloudlifter for my mic. so excited to get my hands onto it and then boom, cant hear shit
Lmao are you using a sm7b
nah, i went for the procaster because i liked how it sounds more than the 7b
I don't like how people always set them up to make their voice heavier
buy popular interface
click radio filter
boom
I like my voice to sound like it should and that's that
But also
I really should buy. Dynamic mic
One of these days my brothers had words are gonna make it through in a meeting
yeah im glad mine rejects noise from behind somewhat well
still, setting up noisefilters and compressors in eAPO took ages until i had a setup i was happy with
i still use a USB mic i paid like £40 for lol
didnt wanna buy an xlr one
bc it would be more annoying to use on multiple devices
Meanwhile me: zoom h1n goes BRRRRRR
They reduced it to 10mb
yeah but that wouldn't be an issue if the client just jpeg'd shit before sending it, like every other messenger
I suppose by making it inconvenient they get people to buy nitro
My annoyance is that It’s 2024 and I can only upload a 10mb file and stream to my friends unless I fork up 10 a month.
At this point I might just host a teamspeak server like a boomer
Exactly, it has a term. Shitification
can TeamSpeak even do either of those things
been a few years since I used it
It can, it is definitely less user friendly then discord. Neither is it as pretty (the UI)
Enshittification but yeah

They were disappointed by the Zonda
F50 is the F50 so it was good
@dire viper straight into a ditch time
dude the drive assist on this is so fucking aggressive lol
it yanks your wrist if you look at the lane wrong
Basically the Zonda looks good and is entirely bespoke but the actual pure Zonda’s drive terribly unless you just use it as a touring car but then there are better offerings from equally expensive cars (the Zonda’s go for around 7-10 million)
I hate new commuter cars
This is why most younger drivers are bad I think, they get handed a new cheap shitty car with all these crazy aggressive safety features so they don’t actually need to drive lmao
lmfao
so like
I dont really drive commuter cars ever
I drive a civic from 2012
that thing has negative safety features
and my track cars want me dead
so like whenever i rent these vehicles im like shellshocked lmao
Yes
I can’t drive my grandmas Mazda
It has zero steering feel and zero pedal feel
The seating position makes me feel too high
yeah is that like
common lol
People look at me like im crazy when Im like, I get no road feedback at all
I feel like the power steering on this is a lot stronger and dampened then the 600-800hp monsters I drive
Yes
It’s now common on factory cars with that much power
Which is scary cause how tf do you know what the tires are doing
Like new BMW’s
570hp M3 that will go sideways at any moment and you can’t feel the front tires doing anything
Same with the M2
M2 is fat and has zero steering feel
And has weird turbo lag
The db12 was neat, it corrects itself really well if you ease up
and I can feel the road with it
Ye I think the rear has more weight?
Aston does a really good job with chassis
If it wasn’t for dickhead lance stroll they would be slaughtering F1 rn
But he’s the son of Aston’s owner so he gets to race despite not being at that level
Fernando Alonso hardcore carrying and he’s twice the age of his closest competitors

props to fractal. they still havent forgotten me and my rusty screws and fans and they keep sending me regular status updates about the status of my replacement parts
Thats actually p neat of em
I remembered i had an asus laptop. They "serviced" it by reformating it despite it being a CPU problem and then gave it an extra dent
Then about 2 months after i got it back they updated me to say they have sent my laptop back to me

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/kaspersky-deletes-itself-installs-ultraav-antivirus-without-warning/ ???????????????
Nvr liked them from the beginning
Get two so the monitor wont get lonely
i have 2 already
imagine having space
2 on top of 2?
what kinda monitor arm is strong enough to support heavy ass screens so high up
my desk is not on a wall
I only have one

Which are you considering
I'm debating a second one
But i also promised myself to get MGEX Full Armor unicorn if I get into my Masters
not sure honestly, they are all so expensive
i just know i dont want an ultrawide and i dont want anything below 32"
me with my tiny ass 27in
by now I run my ultrawide in 16:9 mode more than in UW mode
it is still useful for games that support it and for applications that need a lot of screen real estate like DaVinci Resolve
but so many games don't support it properly
i wish monitors with a bigger than XX:9 aspect ratio were more popular
I kinda WANT a second monitor cuz sometimes i wanna do blender shit and my screen real estate is actually kinda limited
if you ever want to stream, dear lord you need so much screen real estate for that
it's tough at the start
but you get used to it
just gotta lock in

but yeah I'm not surprised that whenever a streamer posts their battlestation they have like 3 - 4 screens
Got a shirt in the mail yesterday
I want a T509 Speed Triple
We take regular training for how to not get scammed and yet in the last month 5 people have clicked on phishing emails
And they were really shitty ones too
Not even clever
we have regular phishing training and people still ask if the internal phishing test emails are phishing or not
which entirely defeats the point but welp
Arrow Lake is N4B
Fuck meant to reply to 3nm
But yeah compute is N4B
That's also fucking days old tf discord
Why did you send that to me as a push notification
it's a discord bug
you'll randomly get pings every once in a while for nothing
what do you need an x670 board for?
also why are you paying for a 4 year warranty (?) when kingston themselves give you 5 years? cpu and board both also come with 3 years
Don't pay for warranty, drop the board down to B650
how many NVME and Sata drives do you actually run
well then you are out of luck anyway because the board only has 4x sata
then sata slots arent even relevant for this as a reason
I need to set up a better local storage solution to manage my recordings
I lost a drive to a dead sector last week
time to buy a big ssd
already got two
bigger
are you the dude who talked ice into buying a 12100f
someone here did lmao
was like
SPEND ALL YOUR MONEY ON THE GPU
GET A CHEAP MOBO AND A CHEAP CPU
use a cardboard box as the case
get that $40 chinese heatsink that steve from gamers nexus said was the best
cheapest ssd, sata, whatever. "you won't notice the difference anyway"
dodge hellcat pc
to be fair, the 25€ peerless assassin is made in taiwan and one of the best air coolers out there rn
But it’s CHINESE so the noctua one that costs $150 is obviously better
I’d still get a b650 anyway
Or the b650e is probably cheaper than the x670
I swear you will show us a shopping cart of shit you wont purchase 4 times a day
yeah right I've seen you post a shopping cart AT LEAST 4 times in the last few days

Lmao
i think ice should build exactly what Rob tells him to build. it'll probably be worse than his current rig. except for the gpu anyway.
there's nothing wrong with it being Taiwanese (or Chinese, if it were actually made in China)
but i'll accept being called out for my hypocrisy here
cuz it's pretty bad XD
but ya know the argument gets old of like
WHY BUY A PORSCHE WHEN THIS HYUNDAI IS JUST AS FAST
LOOK. IT HAS LEATHER. IT GETS THE SAME RING TIME.
IDIOT. Buy the Hyundai
I mean there are some call Hyundais rn icl
nuh but pc building people get all angsty about it
when someone doesn't minmax their build
they be like
"if you spent 2 cents extra and didn't get an fps gain you're an idiot!"
lol
the overpriced noctua shit comes in a fancy box and comes with little doodads that will end up going in the trash and getting eaten by fish eventually
but hey that's fancy
Unfortunately the noctua products themselves are just mid
Arctic and Thermalright both make similar stuff anyway
The NF A12 is still good bc
i mean it's just a hunk of metal
It’s a slim fan
it can be made anywhere
Isn’t it Austrian not German anyway
but i didn't feel sorry i spent the money on it lol
Also noctua do industrial stuff so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s manufactured in Europe
Or somewhere with better QC
-gets out a nh-d15 and puts 2 fat delta fans on it-
does it have like 15 phanteks logos all over it
They’re literally sunon fans but ✨gamer✨
No they’re literally just grey plastic lmao
iirc not even lights
what's so gamer about that lol
it looks like a bone stock sunon fan :3
it's probably the same way evga used to sell super flower stuff in the US
Yeah but it’s phanteks
It’s just a sunon fan under a new name to target normal consumers
It’s the more enthusiast option over noctua
and yes i'd buy those
People who do serious water cooling use them
i'd buy those over a noctua any day
Definitely
maglev fans are awesome
The only downside is they’re 30mm thick
So don’t fit in some spaces
Unless u wedge them in
Like they’ll technically fit in air coolers
But they don’t slide in easily
i wanna say they don't vibrate or wobble either which is nice
but they do sometimes whine
I kind of wish I’d paid the extra £40 to get the AL120 fans from lian li over the EK ones I have
ah ok
Maybe some day I’ll replace them
They get quite loud at high rpm but for good reason since they perform well
Just annoying sometimes
I’d rather have a less annoying sound profile and slightly worse performance like the lian li ones
the ML140s are closing in on 6 years old lol
I got the Arctic p14 for my exhaust fan
Need to swap it out
I’ve been using a stock NZXT case fan for like 15 months
They’re probably better than what Corsair sells now
i will say i like the thermalrights for cheap fans :3
the worst fan I've held in recent times was a fractal branded fan LOL
which imho goes with the brand >>
My Thermalright ones from my pa120se are a bit loud but I also buy $30 fans so they’re probably not that bad lol
one of these days i need to go to microcenter or something and poke around at a fractal case or two
because i've only poked at the cheap ones and those were terrible
i wonder how the torrent & north are build-quality-wise
Fractal have a black and white one but it’s ehh
the torrent kinda looks like the front grille would bend if you poked it
i bet it's not hard to pull the wood off the north XD
Oh crazy phanteks have the black and white scheme on the p400 for sale still
they still come with 5.25 drive bays
They replaced the p500a with the G cases but got rid of the black and white one
Now it’s black OR white
i think the problem for me with the p400
is that some oem gamer pc company used those
so now whenever i see one
P400 is too small for me anyway
i associate it with prebuilts LOL
P500a is the right size
like
But they cost like £120 now
p400 = i9 13900k and a 4060
and maybe a 2tb hdd and a 512gb ssd
Yeah
and like
It’s rly annoying trying to do the black and white colour scheme I might just paint smth myself rn
who the fuck puts spinning disks in computers anymore
outside of people who want an ass load of storage cheap
Media storage
lol
I know someone who has windows on a HDD still
perhaps they like the sound
i've been thinking about how to outfit that nvr i bought for my cameras lol
it has 7 3.5" drive bays, and ordinarily i'd just stuff a couple of wd purple drives in there buuuuut
i kinda don't want the noise
Well what else are u gonna do
bunch of cheap ssds lol
Even cheap SSDs gonna be expensive
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxAMD6i5dVc b-but x86 is dead
We can finally talk about the benchmarks and battery life for Intel's Lunar Lake, in this case its the Core Ultra 7 258V review. This could also be considered the Ultra 7 256V review too. Intel had a lot of promises for these CPUs including crazy battery life and very good performance in everyday office and creator apps but now its time to put...
For 7

Who says x86 is dead
a lot of the internet
I mean it’s still not apple ARM level of good for laptops
But it’s a lot better than the previous ones
it'll never work on PC because MS doesnt wanna put any effort to get developers on board
it worked for apple because apple forced everyone to switch over
The snapdragon X sucks tho
Unfortunately
I mean it’s good but stuff isn’t supported properly
Nvidia making arm based processors
Technically
Just have to wait and see if it sucks
unless developers have an incentive to make arm apps it'll never work, and now that you have laptops with better battery and performance with x86 whats the point
Yeah then compared to the heavy loads tho
Nvidia is pushing for this anyway
I imagine even more so when their hardware comes out
I don’t expect arm to be good for usage with any MS desktop soon but I see it happening eventually
Also this is like the only case where that ultra 7 is on top
In heavy workloads the m3 is still winning by quite a bit
it has great gaming performance and its still a good performer. Apple's chip is more dedicated focused to creative workloads though so yes they are better there
It’s a lot faster in creative heavier workloads and the battery lasts longer
but this is still a good step for windows devices
Great gaming performance is an overstatement as well imo
It can do 60-100fps in non demanding games on low settings
I mean compared to what intel was doing before lol
It’s useable
tit for tat though
It’s kind of just the same tier as what AMD already had with integrated graphics
That 880M
I think it’s still good with the battery life for people who need to use windows for some software
Still kind of underwhelming in general, just a LOT better than what Intel was doing before
There’s still slim gaming laptops that manage to do actually not badly in terms of battery life too now
But I suppose atl these new ones are quieter
they're already selling x870e over there?
Probably preorder
It looks too similar to their $200 boards anyway lol
that's better than the prices on the x670e boards lol
you're looking at the plastic
i'm looking at the usb-c ports :3
Obligatory mention of My x670e was £180
what'd ya use?
I’m never gonna stfu about it lol
the x670e boards are fun because like
i use an x670e carbon, but the tomahawk is pretty much the same board
haha
I wouldn’t know I only use one rn lol
that was a z590 or something it hink lol
Any other ssd I have has been stolen for other devices
meh lol
More usb ports more better tho
i'm not doing asus again 😄 they do have nice boxes but they charge too much
I wouldn’t buy an asus board usually
and armory crate sucks
At their normal prices I’d buy basically anything else
This is true
I hate it
I still use it
lol
I didn’t even know my motherboard had RGB on it for like 6 months
there was an option for the rgb to be on as long as the motherboard had power
i must be the only person ever who liked that option
It’s on the back so I can’t even see it
oh yea
So I just never noticed
lol
aesthetic wise i much prefer the msi boards
I actually noticed because it was on 24/7 by default
So it was lighting up the room at night
I had no idea until that
MSI and asrock have by far the nicest looking boards
but also because the boot screen is a lot nicer on the eyes if you use it lol
^ mine has that logo but in black/white
i'd never get over the stupid ROG EYE logo
REPUBLIC OF GAMERS
asrock has some awesome boards right now
and my favorite thing about them is they're CHEAP
unlike asus who only makes special editions that cost $$$$ and sell out instantly
This thing
and like i said, the asrock stuff looks cool and they never charge extra for it
Yeah
The taichi b550 is one of my favourite motherboards of recent
Really cool really not expensive
Well it was expensive but not like what higher end stuff is rn
Just need $500 and I can get this one
I wish more companies made unique products that aren’t limited numbers and $900
wasn't there one where the gears moved lol
yea
but if you run out of pcie lanes you run out
to be fair
if the gpu supports pcie 5 x8, then you probably won't see a bottleneck anyway
oh lame
I saw 1.3% performance increase going from pcie 5 x8 to x16 on my 4090/7800x3d/Strix x670e-e system.
this kinda thing wouldn't shock me
if you really need all the ssds
just get em and deal with it, it'll probably still be faster than the 3090 in the old setup
https://youtu.be/JqoL2LIwDek?si=a7Q0LyPzjzRKdEiB people need to stop support Chrysler until they get their shit together
We’ve spent a year and more than 20,000 miles driving our plug-in hybrid 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, and it was… eventful, to say the least. In this video, Edmunds’ Brian Wong and our editorial team take you through our ownership experience, including what we liked, what we didn’t, and numerous reliability issues.
00:00 Intro
00:48 The Pros
0...
This isn’t even a new powertrain
They’ve always been shit
My dad owned a Plymouth voyager and the only reason it was somewhat reliable because it had a Mitsubishi engine LOL
Incredible uplift
4090 like the only gpu that benefits from more than PCIe 4 x16 lol
Even PCIe 3 x16
I know people that struggle to find boards with enough lanes to actually use for stuff outside of gaming without spending like $700 on one specific board
Most consumer boards just don’t consider it
haha wtf
the chrome one looks alright
i'd rather have one of those
the chrome grills fucking SUCK
I hate the lower chrome bumpers so m uch
they're heavy as fuck and they ship them in the worst packaging possible
so they always come damaged
and now there is no chrome shop in utah so we cant just fix them ourself
Dodge 440?
mmm I dont think it is
probably a GM group car
shakes chrome rattlecan
Do they peel easily too
I love how the chrome on my truck is still perfectly fine
nah
its actual actual chrome
the bumpers weigh more than the rest of the front end of a RAM lmao
tune in tomorrow to see Ice has dropped $10k on a tricked out synology
lmao
What a lap! Thank you KTM for lending me this insane machine!
Thank you https://trackday-esc.ch/ for the track day!
More info on the car: https://www.ktm.com/en-int/models/x-bow/x-bow-gt-xr-2023.html

GT2 in Qualifying (Full Slicks!) https://youtu....
god an X-BOW would so cool to own
it is certainly a car
fuck that. best I can do is a clapped out old poweredge running an nfs share or two on fedora or something idk
maybe whatever the fuck they call freenas now 😄
but i'm lazy, nfs share in linux is easier
most of the money should be spent on the gpu, $40 chinese heatsink is overpriced (a $20 one is perfectly acceptable for locked intel cpus), cheapest mobo has dogshit vrms and chokes so pass but dont bother with the fancy gaming shit since half the time theyre just a bottom of the barrel board with leds, cheapest ssd is perfectly fine since ssds have very little failure rate (NAND is made by like 4 companies anyway and the controller is made by 4 as well)
so what kinda cardboard box do you recommend for housing this 4090+13100 rig? 😄
the mobo box duh
the key word here: upgraded
if you have an am4 board and/or a 5800x3d already there's no point
that said, that video is a year old
ddr5 has gotten cheaper and more readily available, motherboards have gotten better at dealing with it, and drivers have gotten better
also the 5800x3d has gotten a tiny bit more expensive/harder to find than it was then lo
ignoring that, i do feel it's kinda asinine to go from a 13900k to a 7800x3d unless you really really want it
they launched around the same time didn't they? lol
why get a noctua in the first place
this is the part where I type part of a sentence and think better and hide in the shadow since what's saving a couple hundred on same difference (to people who made their mind up already)
"but noctua customer service" yeah and you can buy 4 coolers thats just as good for the same price
and worse comes to worse can get noctura fans (with a thermalright cooler) and probably still pay less
Noctua is awesome if you really care about support but I don't think that's enough for serious consideration
With their obscene amount of engineering going into their products I think they can compete, just not right now when everyone else is kicking their ass at lower price points
Thermalright support would be fine and also u can just buy 3 more coolers if they messed up around for the same price lmao
12100f is still absolute garbage
It’s not usable at all for any half decent pc for gaming
You’d atl buy a 5600 or 12400f
I mean it's fine but also I would never recommend a 12100f to pair with anything above a 3060 lol
It all depends on pricing
But since mobos have gotten so expensive these days it doesn't really make much sense to buy into the platform with a 12100f
The 3600 and 5500 would both cost similar and they’re 6 core CPUs not 4 core
Buying a 4 core cpu and a slow one at that for gaming is insane rn
The 3600 is also worse at gaming and not just by a little bit lol
Yeah until you’re very severely bottlenecked by having a 4 core cpu
That's not really how it works tho
Yes it is?
A massively parallel game (which doesn't really exist) can still make use of the full 8 threads, which will give you worse performance than if it used all 12 threads on the 3600 but it's not a "severe bottleneck"
You just need to look at what exists and going "hmm do I need better sT performance or better nT performance"
There’s very clearly times where it makes a significant difference
Then again this discussion doesn't exist in a vacuum, the AM4 platform is so much cheaper to buy into than the LGA1700 platform that you should just get B450 and 5600X
30% uplift is not a small amount
The 12100f is genuinely garbage and u should not buy it
It’s maybe $15 cheaper compared to a 5600 on its own
Sure, but the 3600 also isn't 30% better
Like I said earlier, it's an acceptable cpu to use but because it doesn't exist in a vacuum, it's not one you should get
Yeah that's literally what I said
That benchmark is also old and before the game became more cpu reliant
U said u wouldn’t recommend it with something above a 3060
Which means u would recommend it
No? That means I would maybe recommended it if there's a specific use
Name a specific use where it’s worth buying?
Lmao
And ‘not with anything above a 3060’ directly implies you would recommend it with anything below a 3060
12100 (with the gpu) for Intel quicksync
12100f can’t use quicksync
So not even the same cpu
And it’s not good for that either
A guy wants to buy into the LGA1700 platform and upgrade one or two months down the line
Or someone who doesn't want to buy amd or used and is on a budget
Not wanting to buy amd is not a valid reason to just recommend a bad product
If ur actually giving good recommendations u should just explain that the 12100f sucks and they absolutely SHOULD go for am4
Ok so where’s this scenario with the 12100f actually being useful
Still haven’t given an actual one
A guy who doesn't want tk buy AM4 or used
Sure, but pricing like that doesn't exist everywhere
I wouldn’t recommend the 12100f regardless
It’s just not worth buying lol
Might as well burn your money
Everyone who actually buys them ends up having to upgrade soon after from it being insufficient
Burning your money gets you arrested for destruction of currency
There are also reasons to pair a bottom of the barrel cpu with a bottom of the barrel workstation gpu
Name one
You want professional drivers?
Wdym
If that's not relevant then 80% of Nvidias quadro series doesn't have a reason to exist
intel isnt worth it at all unless you get a high end i9 or i7. just buy the 5800x3d and you wont need to upgrade for years. Probs the best cpu for its price rn
even the i9 14th series have issues rn so dont even bother tbh
if you have the money, fire a 4070ti super with the 5800x3d 🤣 wont have issues for years
I’d buy the 7600/7500f over the 5800x3d or 5700x3d if buying new
Same price
If on am4 the x3d ones are great
I probably would go for the 7900xtx over the 4070ti super as well
Similar price
those 2 dont outperform the 5800x3d at all, idk about the 5700x3d tho
They’re equal to the 5800x3d
And u get a new platform and ur not stuck with no upgrade path
amd gpu driver issues have been a thing for years, i dont trust them
And no they haven’t
This is just a false narrative still popular in the pc spaces online
It was true 5 years ago maybe
Idk, I know a few people that had to switch from amd to nvidia gpus cos of it
Tell me you've never experienced FineWine ™ without telling me
For the games I play, the 5800x3d beats all those cpus you listed
for fps
Man I kinda miss my Vega 56 and my Radeon VII
The drivers were fucking dogshit but they were fun cards to fuck around with
Bring back GCN
Which ones
Because on average it does not
The only one where it does that people really play is msfs
Otherwise
Equal or faster with PBO
I was gonna say that didn't sound right lol
DDR5 bandwidth uplift is huge especially for such a memory bandwidth constrained architecture like zen
7500f is a bit slower but not enough to matter
Bc it’s also way cheaper
7500f is like $150 5800x3d is $300
The difference in platform price is not that much
Specs:
Ryzen 7800X3D VS 7600X
RTX 3070
32GB DDR5 6000MHZ
All settings are at low at performance mode 1080p with fsr upscaling to reduce the gpu bottleneck.
No fps loss due to capturing with a dedicated capture card and second PC.
In this video, we'll be putting the powerful Ryzen 7800X3D VS 7600X processor and the RTX 3070 graphics card to the ...
7600 is $180 as well
???
These aren’t even the same CPUs lmao
you asked for what
Also a completely unreliable benchmark
Some random guy on YT
Not an actual trusted source
well he has the 2 cpus and is playing the game i play
And how do you know they actually tested it properly
U don’t
It’s also NOT THE SAME CPU 😭
7600x > 7600
5800x3d is cheap
The 5800x3d is not faster either??
It’s a completely different cpu
That’s like me saying the 9900k is faster than the 7600 bc the 14900k is faster
also provides me over 600fps at all times which is good because I wanna upgrade to a 360 or 540hz monitor
I dont want the 7600 tho and its not better than the 5800x3d
7600x is a 7600 with PBO enabled
It… is
It’s equal or better lol
🤣 I mean, you believe what you wanna believe, but it ain't
I actually provided proof and ur just giving anecdotes sooo
you get what you pay for when it comes to tech and its price is much cheaper.
Are u stupid or trolling
Price in general doesn’t mean better or worse
Better products USUALLY cost more doesn’t mean any product that costs more is inherently better
It does not go both ways
The 5800x3d is expensive and worth it if you’re already on AM4
If ur buying a new pc it’s not worth it
At the end of the day the 5800x3d generates far more frames for the games I play so I could care less
you two cut it out
It doesn’t u showed a benchmark that doesn’t even compare them
£380 isnt expensive
!mute 1199145324363653191 3h
!mute 702574403803807847 3h
now
Wtf happened
people fighting and I had to break it up
Fair enough
I swear this is so dumb but I may do it anyway
Is XIV able to run on an ARM-based CPU? yes I may try to run it on a pi
Well… yes? The Windows versions (standalone and Steam) can run on Apple Silicon

I do miss my radeon VII, it was strong af and lasted everything I threw at it. Only 'upgraded' because my ex needed an upgrade so I gave her those and got new ones
This is gonna sound crazy, but I don't feel like the cards I've used since then have been as stable
Who want the factory racing catalogue for Porsches built in the late 60’s
Scuffed ass download but it’s all we got
Radeon and stable in the same sentence?
Actual factory catalogues are now like 800 bucks for 60 pages of something you can find online
Radeon gpus are pretty good. We aren't in the early polaris days anymore
@potent arrow you could order titanium connecting rods for your Porsche 2.0 race engine back in 69
All this stuff is in the engine of the 914/6GT my last boss owns
Cause it uses a 906 race engine from factory which is the Carrera 6 variant, stroked to 2.2 over the 2.0
wtf
People haven’t moved on from the issues the 5000 series cards had years ago that were also immediately resolved
lol
PC community finds it hard to not have brand loyalty or hold grudges for an overly long time
yea
It’s been at least 2 generations since it was bad
the 6600-6700 series cards are basically modern rx580s
They’ve proved it’s all good now
cheap and pretty good performance for the price
The rx6800 also
Crazy value
yup
They’re like $300-350
always makes me raise an eyebrow when someone insists on a 4060
Until stock runs out
I can’t even imagine going for a 4060 bc it’s too weak for RT, too weak for good raster over AMD, and DLSS in 1080p looks… bad
lol
RT and DLSS become like reasonably nice features once u get to the 4070s and above
Which is why I’d buy a 4070s over a 7900gre
u know what IS cool that Nvidia does
Their HDR setting is WAY better than windows HDR
Makes a lot more content viewable like that
Though it’s still not the best
Nice
The 3080 was def the one that I had beef with. Cost me way too much for not much gains
I had to turn settings down in games cause the 10gbs of vram is dogshit
I went from idk what integrated Radeon gpu, to an rx570 to a 1070 to a 4070ti
In the last 5 years or whatever
Yeah 10GB one is unfortunate
12GB one is alright
I got the 3080 back in the days of newegg making you enter a lottery, so I couldn't really pick which one.
1070 was a good gpu until I wanted to play cyberpunk a few years ago
Unfortunate but I got a gpu during scalping so not the worst
Nice
I couldn’t get a gpu then so I was waiting until just over a year ago to upgrade
I'm just making tongue in cheek jokes. I have owned several Radeon cards over the years and they ran fine. That said, I haven't had one since I got a GTX770. If they didn't have driver issues over covid, and I hadn't gotten lucky in ordering my 3080 through a local PC shop weeks before supply died (So I got it for $800) I probably would have gotten an AMD card then.
I would’ve gotten a 7900xtx had it been later tbh
But when they came out the price was horrible
It was like £900 for a 7900xtx or £800 for a 7900xt
And I paid £720 for a 4070ti
The release prices for this gen weren’t great for AMD tbh
Generally
I still appreciate the features Nvidia has as an added bonus but they’re not worth the premium for most price ranges lol
They were definitely not immediately resolved coming from someone who used one until 6000 series came out
They had issues going into the 6000 series launch
the bullshit thing about those cards is how hot/loud they get LOL
like my 3080ti performs fine for my use cases but it gets so loud/hot I don't really like gaming on it
Mine wasn't loud cause it was liquid cooled out the box
But it was ugly as sin lol
mine is a 3080ti FTW3
which means
hmm it's like a year and a half old
i bought it towards the end of the evga queue lol
got a free tshirt
i wonder if it makes it to the 3 year mark without crapping out
that's a bit of an accomplishment for anything made by evga lol
We learned from this and now everything has a heat sink 3x the size it needs to be
I suppose it depends on what card you came from. I had a 1660ti, so it was a very nice upgrade for me. And I still use 1080p so the 10gb vram hasn't been an issue. I prefer fps over res. I'll probably jump straight to 4K when the 60 series comes out, as I imagine by then I'll have enough money I can YOLO a 6090 for 4K120
the 3080ti ftw heatsink is still huge though lol
i think the 40 series heatsink would've been maybe 25% bigger?
25% bigger is big
problem is, 400w is 400w and no matter how big your heatsink or radiators are, you're still putting out that much heat
Also 3080ti was like a lot of power and now it’s equal to the 4070s which draws like 200w and has bigger heatsinks
i have a 3080 and everything runs very well
like the best you can do is mitigate it using a meshy case with a ton of quiet airflow
3080ti was a neutered 3090 in a trenchcoat
It got hot
for like half the price LOL
i mean
U COULD play 4K if it had memory
the vram was what made those hot wasn't it?
Nvidia just doesn’t care about memory temperatures
They’ve gotten hot on the 30 and 40 series just by design
Or lack of consideration in design I suppose
But yeah 3080ti has smaller heatsinks than the new equivalent drawing 200w less so it makes sense
Efficiency
yep lol
Technically less efficient than 3090 xd
I do wish the 6950xt was there tho bc that looks even more ridiculous
The radeon vii is what I came from at 1440p 144 lol. The 16gbs of hbm2 went crazy
Had to turn settings down at 1440p on the 10gbs the 3080 had
I don’t use more than 9gb often at 1440p still
The 2 games I do are like FH5 and cyberpunk
Which I run MSAA or DLAA on for FH5 as well as RT and path tracing on cyberpunk so
I’m not surprised
They still only use 11
I'm not trying to defend Nvidia being stingy on vram, bc they are. And now also stingy on memory bus for some inexlicable reason
Yeah memory bus is pretty terrible
Memory OC made me go from 20 to 55fps in cyberpunk lol
I don’t think the amount of vram is that bad still rn
Memory bus is a joke for sure
I should see what my temps are for my 3080 10gb. I don't have watercooling for it tho so I dunno how well it would OC
Mine survived +1900 memory but got too hot on memory
So I left it at +1700
I have a 4070ti tho
40 series seems to be kind to people
I could also increase core clock but it’s like increasing temp by 10° for 2% more fps
It’s definitely more temperature issues than stability on newer GPUs though
hmmm
i spent way too much time looking into this
for my security cam nvr i really don't wanna spend more than like $400 on drives. so that means 4x4tb wd purple HDDs ($400), or like 7x1tb transcend z ssds ($350-ish) or maybe 4x2tb wd blue ssds ($520-ish)
Pretty sure u could get 4 2TB SSDs for $400
they would be QLCs
the 2tb is where the wd reds really shine but you pay a lot for that, cheapest I see is 646 for 4 2tb from wd themselves
1300tbw instead of 500tbw
The MP44L is TLC
I thought
$105 each
From the cheapest seller
The MP33 too
Cheap but slower
SN770 too
$110
They’re all closer to 400 than 520
There’s a few more those just look the best value ones rn
There’s actually quite a few cheap TLC drives
Just not all of them have dram
@hazy frost those are m.2, I'm looking at sata 2.5" 😄
Ah
sata 2.5" really died off in the past year xX_
there are only a handful of TLC options that I'm aware of, and the dram models cost quite a bit
I'm also not 100% sure dram matters in the constant video recording case
the reads might end up being random-ish (if I'm scrubbing through video) but otherwise it'll just be sequential writes
Teamgroup ones should still be cheaper
where dram might shine is because it's gonna fill the SSDs up and then cycle the old stuff off lol
yea
For TLC
they are 96 bucks for 2tb
Why not save $120 then
https://www.amazon.com/TEAMGROUP-T-Force-Vulcan-Internal-T253TZ002T0C101/dp/B09WMSVHD4 that is their current offering
384 for 4x2tb vs 385 for 7x1tb 😄
U can still buy the QX I think
the only reason I say 7 is these are going in a unifi nvr pro, which has 7 drive bays 😄
but I don't have to fill all 7 bays
384 is a hell of a lot better than 500 either way
I love teamgroup
Their m.2s are also very nice
Memory is also dirt cheap from them
Lexar too for memory and m.2s
Don’t think they make any 2.5” drives or any good ones anyway
they do make 2.5
Idk how good they are
lexar ns100 they cost the same as the vulcan z but
I know the teamgroup ones are good
k im going with the 4x 2tb vulcan z 😄
yep! although if I use raid10 i really will only want 2 more. unless i want a hot spare i guess
U could actually get 6 for only $80 more than u originally intended lol
?
oh my original intention was to do 7x1tb at 350-ish 😄
Ah
Yeah
I'll re-evaluate after I set up the nvr with the 4 drives 🙂
I don’t think you’ll need more for a while lol
if I feel like i really want that extra storage I'll just buy it 😄
Yeah
I hate how expensive 2.5” sata drives are still
They have a use so they’re still just as much as the m.2 nvme drives
nand prices went up like 30-40% over the last year
Unfortunate
I really need more storage just waiting/praying for price to go down
lol i was thinking similar a few months ago about getting another 2tb for my desktop. i'll get around to it eventually xD
I need another 2TB
They’re still £110 for the one I want here
Cheapest one is £97
I’ll just start deleting stuff it’s finee
fun fun
the last ssd i purchased for my desktop was a crucial p5 plus 2tb
nice solid drive lol
then i got fed up with using windows even for my gaming needs and switched to fedora 40... running on an old 970 evo 1tb I had laying around xD
and it still feels faster than win11, go figure hahaha
then again, the difference between a pcie3 and a pcie4 nvme is hard to notice
That’s the one drive I use in my desktop as well
Was the cheapest half decent one
funny thing about sata ssd vs hard drive
i'd heard if you raid 4x like 12tb HDDs
they'll probably be faster, especially if the ssds don't have dram
BUT THE NOISE, DUDE
that's the real reason I didn't want HDDs lol
i don't have a rack or a closet to hide thsi shit in
it's gonna sit in the corner of my living room lol
I’m never buying a HDD again
see fan noise isn't a big deal
I don’t want that in my life
i don't think the machine produces much heat, the controller is just a little quadcore arm soc anyway
I appreciate my silence
which -scratches his head- is such an odd choice for this sorta thing
I have been tempted to get HDDs with current nvme prices but I just cba still
Not worth it
ubiquiti was smoking some crack to call this 'nvr pro' lol
there's nothing professional about it
lol
😂😂😂
