trying to troubleshoot my parents PC. the monitor doesn't get an active signal anymore. and for awhile it took like 10mins to get a signal but would be fine once its on. Now it won't turn on for any reason

Tried a different video cable, onboard and discrete GPU, and different monitors. Nothing working, so I think it's the motherboard at this point

Going to do one last thing of trying to cmos reset and see if i can get the video to come on for bios

As for the person with the 14700, as many as there are that have problems, the majority are still fine. The doping spray w/e corrosion issues were only supposedly from 1 fab for like a 3 month period at the very start of 13th gen

meh, after debating games I play, I guess i will have to get another 27" 2k Screen. Sometimes I camp in games while doing works, and things can get pretty heptic if two screens have different solutions. My FFXIV UI elements and plugins are set for 2K. Put them on Full HD will be a royal pain as they will huddle each other and refuse to return to original positions. After working with 2k screen for my office work, I can't return to do them on tiny Full-HD 😦

Mobile devices keep getting more capable, and Apple has more than proven the arch, so I expect more laptop vendors to want to use them. That will force MS hand to maintain it. with pcie 4.0/5.0 I think there's enough bandwidth on the pcie port to make thunderbolt ports on the gpu that supply pcie bandwidth too

but I think they can also send the video signal over the internal bus and then the thunderbolt ports on the motherboard would theoretically work for gpu-sourced video

atm whenever a motherboard does that it usually has a displayport input port lmao 😄
