Also pay off the CC which apparently is still at $20k rip
Need to go to my credit union and see if they still offer the balance transfer interest free for a year
yea at $20k that interest has gotta hurt
Between that and my upcoming raise for becoming a full engineer, I should be able to pay it down in a year.
I don't even know how it got that bad bc last I really paid attn it was like $14k and I don't go out spending a lot, but I do hav a car loan and rent is up like 30% in 3 years soooo
What I really need to do is finally get the Splunk certs for all the knowledge I've gained over the last couple years so I can twist the screws on mgmt to actually pay me what I'm worth.
Bc if they don't offer me at least 6 figs I'm going to have to seriously consider other emplyment options even if I do like the 4 weeks of vacation
14k a month?!
holy shit

got to sit on an aeron now and could directly compare the embody to it and shit.
both have pros and cons for their feeling and i am pretty much exactly 50/50 on them. maybe i will just make my gf get the aeron and then we can swap when we feel like it lmao
Aeron with the headrest some company makes I forgot who is the best chair of all time
Embody Iād rather have probably tho bc I have more issues with my back hurting than anything else lol
the embody has an awesome seat, actually even better than the backrest i think haha
that company (atlas headrest) also makes one for the embody
which I ended up buying :3
how is it? i saw some people complain about it being loose?
I know what they're talking about
on mine if I deliberately push my head back against it hard enough it moves back
but it works fine
neat
it's not as easily adjustable as a car headrest
could probably get some elastic band and sling it around the backrest for some extra support i assume?
in fact you have to use the allen key to adjust it AT ALL
like height adjustment, allen key
i think the knob is to adjust the angle
well tbh i would only need it in one height anyway
but most people use the allen key for that as well, otherwise it moves back too easily LOL
you would think so
but because of the way it's curved you kinca want it towards your neck more than the back of your head
but if you slouch in the chair vs sitting straight up
you get out of the sweet spot
idk i bought it and didn't feel like it was a total ripoff
it is expensive af for what it is
and what was worse was they kept advertising like 2 week shipping. nah it took like 5 weeks
huh maybe 3 weeks
ordered 4/22 and arrived 5/13
honestly, so far i find it reaaaally hard to slouch on the chair because it cups my booty well, so i dont really think it will happen, especially given how neat the backrest is. it fits my back very well, so i would really only like to have some support when leaning all the way back
over here its 200⬠though so thats quite the investment
ouch
oh yea the headrest is about that much
$200 here, same difference
the chair has gotten too expensive
i think i paid like 1400 or 1500 or something X_X and now they're like 1800?!
yeah retail is 1800 but HM has like always a sale going on
the official retailers over here also sell it for like 1200
So I just heard that Intel i7-13700K is having issues and can lead to permanent damage... that's nice because that's my exact CPU
oofies
Intel fans taking Ls rn itās unfortunate
The effects on the prebuilt gaming pc owners shall be massive
Tbf itās not a guaranteed death to ur system so just hope ur good
yeah because I can't afford a new CPU
My i5-7500 running fine atm.
also I got a pop up from solitaire with bad grammar
That is because it is not one of the CPUs being affected by any of this yes
this is affecting 13th and 14th gen
Itās several generations off of where the problem is
and also 15th gen apparently?
15th isnāt out yet
yeah but they make it with the same way that implies this flaw carries over
Well given that they arenāt actually being sold yet thereās no guarantee the flaw will make it to the products consumers can buy
So canāt rly say that yet
What's the issue in newer ones?
@hazy frost oh question btw, is this malfunction affecting all 13th/14th gen or just newer ones?
like I bought mine a year ago and so far has been working fine
Idk which ones exactly are being affected Iāve not had time to keep up with it since the very start of the issues lol
I think a few other people here know more about this one
oh well, if anyone knows anything specific, please ping me
@random marlin
it's a flaw in the ring bus so it's likely to affect 15th gen if voltage control isn't double downed on (cores given separate power management from the IO)
xeon hasn't been mentioned because that uses mesh
Honestly Bungo can probably relate too lol
@wise hatch
is this you?
From what I gathered the defect only happened in the Arizona fab and was because they had issues with A/C and too much moisture but it was only relegated to like early March to possibly May?
Which sucks for me cause thatās when I bought mine
Unreal engine games still run like shit
my laptop doesnt get hotter than 80c I'll have you know
What would cause an outlet with absolutely nothing connected to try and explode when I go to connect a power strip that also has nothing connected to it
breaker or bad wiring
I connected it to another outlet and it didn't explode
then probably bad wiring or bad receptacle
Guess I'm putting in a work order so somebody that knows something about outlets comes to look at it
if its a rental its entirely on maintenance to fix it anyway you dont pay nothing
https://www.carscoops.com/2024/07/the-c8-corvette-is-attracting-younger-and-wealthier-drivers/ its nice to see GM finally embracing the Corvette more and giving their team the room to grow
i mean it is expensive and hard to get
or at least was hard to get
they're easier to get now...
Alright so the tl;dr is:
- All Intel 13th and 14th gen CPUs are affected
- Early batches of 13th gen CPUs have oxidation issues
- All 13th and 14th gen CPUs exhibiting issues have irreversible damage
- Intel is not issuing recalls but they are working on remediation
those last 2 points seem contradictory
yeah they are
Almost like building a water intensive and highly temp and humidity sensitive process in a sweltering desert was a bad idea, tax breaks be damned.
breuh i have to do this weird banging on the top of my PC just to get one fan to stop whirring weird
percussive maintenance ok
radiator's fan acting up prob, bearing prob weird
How old is the fan?
i think only 2 years
it should be simple to replace it, i just haven't so i smack lmao
Lol
I more mean that two years is pretty early for a fan bearing to go bad
Unless itās super cheap
fan maybe rubbing against something
they sometimes just do that
https://youtu.be/bEMdU-Pmqzc?si=HylhwrkXWjmDE0Dj I want one of these so bad :C

I have that issue with one of my fans on mine as well. Corsair one. Although I can take off the dust filter and directly flick it to break the bearing out of its funk
nice
I should probably see if it's still under warranty and just get them to replace it if possible. With how they want like $40 for them these days
I NEED IT
If I bought my CPU in 2023 July, does that mean anything
Hank said that batches made until May of 2023 are affected by oxidation but until we have date code ranges we wonāt know for sure
And likely we never because why would Intel disclose that
I donāt have much faith in Intelās CPU division
At least their GPU division is legitimately trying
Itās like reverse AMD
AMD puts more effort into GPUs than Intel does into CPUs honestly
Theyāve made big improvements to rocm/HIP even if itās not amazing for gamers so no ones talking about it
I did consider making the jump to Intel but the 5800X3D convinced me to remain on AMD
Thereās no reason at all to go to Intel in any recent generation for gaming
Basically the only people I recommended it to where those using it for video editing using quicksync
https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/intel-cpu-instability-crashing-bug-includes-65w-and-higher-skus-intel-says-damage-is-irreversible-no-planned-recall thatās⦠great. awesome. thanks Intel
This is so fucked
So this is weird: all of a sudden FFXIV has developed a quirk where, whenever I switch off my Bluetooth keyboard, the button assignments on my wireless Xbox Series X controller suddenly switch up and I have to go back into the game's settings to recalibrate it.
trying to troubleshoot my parents PC. the monitor doesn't get an active signal anymore. and for awhile it took like 10mins to get a signal but would be fine once its on. Now it won't turn on for any reason
Tried a different video cable, onboard and discrete GPU, and different monitors. Nothing working, so I think it's the motherboard at this point
Going to do one last thing of trying to cmos reset and see if i can get the video to come on for bios
when you put ff14 on a ps5 and it says to link your profile or make a new one. should we link my PS profile or make a new one for my wife ? we are worried if we link the existing one it will link to my acct and make her not able to play with a fresh account. any advice?
Otherwise I'm going to order a new motherboard and try swapping them. If it's not that either, I can always return it.
It's just odd bc the mobo is only like 2 years old and they don't use the PC much
please repost your question in #1116899335628668979
Ah ok. i was hoping to get fast reply here since it is tech support but i can do that too
Thatās just what I read off someoneās comment on r/hardware so take it with a grain of salt but typically thatās one of the more mature subreddits so I have faith in its integrity
Also you have to account that not every processor is made in the same fab Intel also produces their 10nm node in Israel I believe as well as Arizona so itās a crap shoot of where your processor came from
Does the computer completely boot into windows
If not it could be a RAM or bad drive causing it to hang on post
Lmao nice my PC just BSOD from starting up
itās a sign
Hmm do I spend $53+shipping for a keyboard cable...
Been trying to diagnose the issues with my space65 keyboard today as well and best I can figure out it's the usb-c connector itself that is very touchy.
I almost need one on the keyboard side with more sheething so the connector doesn't flex
Yeah bc before if you waited long enough it would show the windows login screen etc. I get the single beep of a successful boot and can see the drive activity light etc
I finally put the dracula keycaps on my space65 and my first impression is they feel a little off and I like the shitty $25 temporary set I bought before lol
They don't taper enough in the front so it feels like Im not able to press on the middle of the key easily and feel the leading edge of the key as I type
sounds like it's retraining the ram every boot
try replacing the bios battery
The motherboard is only like 2 years old
I got a RedDragon mouse on Prime day discount. (for like 10 bucks) And good lord, this thing and it's software is obtuse and confusing to get working
I mean, you get what you pay for. Granted, Reddragon is the "best" of the chinesium brands
good old proprietary software
At least it's not one of those "brands" where it looks like they rolled their face on the keyboard
Had I known, I prolly would of went with a Razer Naga or something.
Yeah. My logitech mouse Does technically work but. It only has 2 extra side buttons.
Want these side mouse buttons to be shortcuts and the like
Apparently the G600 is still being manufactured... for the Japanese market.
I... can't find any option to have a button just set to mouse5 or whatever
I mean u paid $10 whatāre u expecting from this
Iād honestly call anything that functions well disregarding software a great deal for $10 lol
It was discounted from 50.
And yet u paid 10
Because of prime discounts
My point is that with the reviews and the normal price, I was expecting a bit better of an item
If I paid full price for this mouse, I'd feel even more upset.
@deep sapphire Used a screwdriver to short the pins and reset cmos, connected the video cable to the integrated and got a picture. Noticed the firware was F1 so I'm updating it to latest which is F28...
Apparently it's too much to ask for a working mouse software thing if you get it on discount or something
BWUH 27 versions out of date LMFAOOOOOOOOOO
@deep sapphire saw this and immediately said āfound hankā
i don't think so xD
but it's your money so you should spend it on whatever you fancy
e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e
Hmm wonder why sometimes when I hit e I feel like I get more e than I wanted
The Lexus LC 500 is now perfect for the 2024 model year as they have fixed the only issue that needed attention: the infotainment! Ride along with me in this beautiful blue interior as we make many excellent V8 noises.
The spec on this car:
Base price $105,200
Bespoke Build Package $5,500
Dark Chrome Exterior Trim $650
21" Forged Wheels $40
He...
the LC500 now has the touch screen instead of the stupid touch pad thing
so its actually the best new V8 convertible
Okay, so I got my parents PC working again. After resetting cmos and flashing to latest firmware it works... as long as I don't have the 1660ti installed. Then I get 4 beeps (graphics card)
Dunno why it was fine before the firmware, but afterwards started giving the 4 beeps
But since I don't use their pc for gaming more than like once a year, im not going to worry about it for now
and it's available with a blue interior š
Was happy to get the chance to shoot with Shirasaka-san and highlight his Championship Blue BCNR33. His GT-R is probably the most recognisable R33 in Tokyo, a car heās been working hard to perfect over so many years. that V8 is slow and has no torque

?
my dad's plymouth minivan is faster

my car probably weighs 500lbs less tho
the same V8 in the RC-F
was like
6.8 seconds
and they said
it has zero torque feeling
I thought you sold your car
tried too but ima keep it
Lexus' arent slow
I would just say they prioritize the comfort part of the experience
although the LC500 factory comes with a stupid throaty exhaust
way louder than any of the other V8's
shit doesnt even have 400 lbs ft of torque and it comes on at the high rev range
and it gets horrible fuel economy
and its very old
yes
no thanks
oh yea true
its DOHC
this is perfectly serviceable whar
it probably makes around 250-300ft lbs of torque at 2500
my car doesnt make any torque below 2k but its still fine shrug
for daily driving that thing would not feel fast at all, you want the torque at the very bottom
the one I was in felt fine
I wanted an RC
plus the diff is fairly aggressive in the top trim cars
you can also option the LSD in the base one
for the price you could find a faster car though thats all im saying
this thing came out in like 2016
thats true for every car tho
and hasnt had a single major update
why would you buy a brand new 5.0 mustang when you can buy an E92 M3
considering their quarter times are almost identical iirc and then also one can go WAY faster
Mustang is drag limited to 155
E92 M3 with a free flash will take it up to 185
cause it starts being drag limited at about there
plus you can get a proper DCT in the M3
Ford still putting the ten speed in the Mustang cause they are dumb
even though a Gretrag DCT would probably be as cheap as the ten speed
ones a sports car ones a luxury performance car
yea
if you argue that way people should just buy a Mustang Dark Horse instead of basically anything else
yuh
this vehicle hasnt changed hardly once since it debuted
for 120,000 dollars I would expect more
you dont get more in other 120k cars
you do in a Z06
in performance? yes. for luxury wise? no
its all trade offs
I just wouldnt say a Lexus buyer would buy a Z06
its not an extremely comfortable GT car
but what do we care neither of us can afford this
its the track trim of a sports car
Lexus is for old people and thats it
its the car you buy because it'll just work and thats that
idk I would daily an IS500 F Performance or an LC500
they are quick enough and nice enough
you cant actually use a corvette now
even a C5 Z06 is unusable on the street because it has so much power
I wouldnt buy a C5 Z06 or a C6 Z06 because they have stiff suspension those are track cars
C8 has adaptive suspension though
why would you buy a Z06 otherwise
people will buy the ZR1 and then complain its ride isnt good enough
it has magnetic dampers too
they did the same for the LaFerrari, they did the same for the LFA
just set it to street and you're good
yea that works
idk you can just have dampers that are comfortable and performance orientated
literally any car with performance Bilsteins
BMW's, AMG's (unless its an S trim)
oh wait we dont get good suspension on US built cars unless its absurdly expensive and GM built
oh also compared to the LC500 and Z06 you have the E63S
which is a wagon with comparable performance to the Z06
its slightly slower in the straights but it has a full on AMG suspension setup so shrug
it keeps up with GT3 RS'
and its a 4 door wagon
also it has a higher top speed than a Z06
or no thats not the US one
nvm
my family car that has the same lap times as purpose built track cars
it has a drift mode
also whats crazy is the average age of a new car buyer is 56 now
so cars are not designed for the people who will actually be driving them lol
they are designed for old people
I think thats why Lexus doesnt change is because their buyer segment has just gotten older and so they just keep makin the cars for the exact same people who have been buying them since the 90's
cause its the same deal in Japan
cadillac does nice suspensions, no?
sigh my only beef with wagons is they look like suvs lol š
-hides-
slightly better proportions, well, in some cases MUCH better proportions
RIP bad sector errors getting worse on my 2tb drive
going to be broke as fuck until finaid disbursements too so i guess it's time for a cheap 2tb platter drive replacement
he said GM built
better do it soon unless you wanna lose that entire drive
yea, heading to walmart tomorrow to get a cheap WD hdd
~$70 for a 2tb one
should be able to clone the drive and not have windows give any fits over it
just make sure when you clone it you know what the source and target drives are, cause if you accidentally reverse clone it you really fucked yourself lmao
Which UserBenchmark user wrote this
I thought Hank didn't go to Reddit anymore
Avg Intel enthusiast
Canāt believe people unironically supported 13th and 14th gen when am5 existed
tbh hank says that AMD CPUs are good
from what I remember
his 13900K crashing is his PC telling him to buy AMD
š
as an ex AMD fanboy yes they are pretty cringe
but intel is not defendable rn
the whole reason I chose intel over AMD was them having a reliable track record, if they cant even do that then whats the point of going to them
they arent the fastest, they arent the most efficient and now they arent the most reliable
so its a all losing game here
Let's go and make our own cpu
Intel needs to work harder
https://youtu.be/dKVRBFLDwsU?si=zWFf-aLpQqV8n62D @deep sapphire @potent arrow 8 into 1 stepped headers sound like an F1 car cause the late 90ās F1 exhaust is stepped and collects into one exit pipe
Clips of what an 8 into 1 header sounds like on the track and Dyno.

I'd do the same
When was the last time they were significantly more reliable than AMD tho
Since like the later CPUs on am4 Intel has just been shitting themselves
I used to be ok with Intel before am4 5000 series and tbf 3000 was ok
Intel had very reliable chipsets specially in the core 2 and recent which is why they were typically used in servers with xeons the Opterons had weird issues. Iām not saying AMD is bad but I worked in networking before and Intel tended to hold up better but obviously that changed specially with the dog shit atom processors found in routers and switches
Yeah I remember Intel being reliable as fuck and AMD just being... there
Athlon's, Phenoms and the FX line always had janky chipset problems
the first gen zen processors also had loads of issues too
imo Zen didn't really hit its stride until like... Zen 2 or 3?
zen 2 was much better than zen 1 and zen 3 perfected it I agree
Yeah I just mean like consumer side especially how long ago even was it that there was a gap
I havenāt heard anything bad about anything more recently
there were a lot of problems on b450 and b550 chipsets when they came out
I dont think b450 ever really got fully addressed but b550 has been fine now
Iāve used b450s and had no issue
Theyāre similar prices to low end b550s anyway tho
Now
just from my personal experience and working on computers for many years AMD always had a worse track record. Take it with a grain of salt
not everyone is going to have problems
oh ofc
I had overheating problems back with Intel on a few generations but skylake especially was ass
my 6700K still works perfectly fine
I understand not everyone has the same experience
never had one issue with it
12th gen was kind of cool and then they just ruined everything again
I still recommend like
the 7700K had issues with the shitty TIM they used but they went back to soldered TIM in the 8th gen
the 12100F for budget as fuck builds
12400 and 12600kf are good
Nah go 3600 or 5500 now
12100f isnāt even worth using at the prices currently in most places
Or buy used for a 12400 or 5600
The 12100f was good when it came out for budget
the meme was a meme for a reason lol
lmao
AMD at that time never had the budget to make internal chipsets like intel so they relied on other companies
I could own something like a 12900k to get back into OC or something but Iād honestly rather invest in a gpu and a loop for it now
as I recall, intel's own chipsets weren't all that popular at the start
but i can't remember who else made chipsets for intel besides ati and SIS lol
they were very common on pre builts, system building in those days was rather niche and even before my time
im sure most gamers probably opted for ATI or nvidia chipsets
this depends on how you look at it
late 90s onwards, diy was definitely a thing I mean
white box companies in the 90s were just using off the shelf parts too
I know ATI had a pretty beefy integrated system when they came out with the xpress 200 chipset because the on board GPU was a 9700 Pro
my 12700k feeling pretty good rn
like the computer I had in 98/99 used off the shelf parts
12th gen is fine, I think intel pushed things too hard with 13th and 14th gen
lol remember shopping for computer parts on pricewatch?
I still think it's funny because I complained about this exactly with the 13900k lol
I dont think intel's e core strategy has paid off for them and its bit them in the ass
i didn't want it because it looked like a portable space heater on a chip
See I wouldnāt mind E cores if they didnāt change the design to regress back to an 8 core i9 instead of 10 p cores as well
And the marketing itself is scummy bc they know theyāll sell to uneducated idiots by saying MORE CORES!!!!!!!
e cores still have scheduling issues and I still dont really understand the point of them in a desktop environment
Theyāre good for doing a lot of things but GPUs are way better at doing all of them lmao
if p cores can scale well with low power then like who cares???
running a decent game would make everything else on my computer grind to a halt
Itās like Intels stuff renders faster in blender but u can just
Buy a cheap GPU?
And itās twice as fast
I think its because intel CPUs have an integrated GPU and the encoder on them is really good
Theyāre good for video editing
even with a dedicated GPU
But now u can also just get an arc a310
So
I think u lose quicksync but still every other benefit
And theyāre like $50?
Or something negligible when weāre talking the prices Intel ask for current CPUs
Iām happy with the 7700x I paid like Ā£200 for
Yeah perfectly good processor
I wanted a 7800X3D but I built my system before it came out
And because Iāve used Intel since X58 I figured it was fine as Iām primarily gaming in 4K anyway
aye i've been real happy with my 7800x3d! My only gripe is how slow the memory self-test stuff goes for my board if I enable ram overclocking lol. And that's at least partially because I run 4 sticks instead of 2.
And overclocking 4 sticks of ddr5 to 3000mhz/'6000' does work.... eventually...
How often does it do that? Iāve never had that happen except on the first time I installed my ram
Iāve read thatās mostly just DDR5
if i enable memory oc it takes my computer over a minute to post
Thatās annoying
yea the whole thing is a compounded together mess, so I turned off the oc
I built mine before it came out as well
i don't even notice the difference lol š
Just wanted the 8 core one and it was same price as the 7600x so I got it
I donāt even put my PC to sleep anymore because something keeps waking it up and I dunno why I even adjusted the settings in windows
so there's that, then my monitor doesn't show anything until the OS starts up... unlesss!!!
unless I go in the menu and switch to dp1.2 mode, which limits the resolution my monitor does to about 2/3 full res
so if I do that, I can see bios/boot stuff
but then I have to switch back when the os finishes booting up
DDR5 memory training isnāt that bad unless u have the setting to do it every time u turn it on
i think what happens with my motherboard/ram
is the self-test fails initially when i run it at ddr5-6000
and then it fucks around and runs the test again
and then it passes
i blame my frustrations on the combination of msi motherboard and my 3080ti not being a good match for my monitor lol š
ENERGY STAR
i kinda miss these
maybe i should switch my board out for something else
Run 4 sticks of ram at 6000 and expect to have issues
Fun times
My board is ASUS bc the deal was too good
Even tho I donāt like asus
yea I noted that lol
I wouldāve gone for MSI or asrock for am5 out of choice at usual prices
I think its an issue on both AMD and intel with 4 sticks DDR5 is just really picky
everyone's been a stickler for 'only use 2 sticks in ddr5'
yep
Intel memory controller better
But itās bad on both
It was basically impossible to run 4 at 6000 when it was new and itās still not that easy
i recall hearing it was awful on z590
Itās still some luck in being able to do it
LOL YEP
there was a firmware update that actually made it usable for me
Just have to be lucky with hardware and persevere
U can barely get 6400 running on am5 now I think too
With 2 sticks
and i would like a newer gpu that works wth my monitor correctly lol š
the 3080ti only does dp1.4 and I suspect its vbios only supports dp1.2
My 1070 never worked with my monitor but that was a known issue
Iām not sure why 10 series cards just didnāt work properly
But it was a thing
i really should try swapping my 6650xt in and seeing if it shows the boot screens properly
the really really obnoxious part to me
is about 90% of the power on process all I see is _
because that's what the gpu wants to show me lmao
once the 9800X3D comes out I'll probably swap I dunno
I really shouldnt have to upgrade this soon
Intel shills finally getting what they deserve
alright. time to shut down my computer, install the new drive, and hopefully not implode the drive i'm trying to save stuff from
but first installing ATI to clone it afterwards
Now to wait an ungodly amount of time for the drive to be cloned over, then I can get everything put away
Oh boy. Definitely glad I didnāt put it off even further. Event Viewer is having a stroke right now

EVās been popping every 4-8 seconds for the last 20 minutes with bad block errors while Acronis has been whining about consecutive unreadable sectors
I just told it to ignore all so iām not sitting on the floor for 8 hours clicking dialog boxes
you may have to run chkdsk and what not after its done cloning if its that bad
On the new or old?
Iām not TOO worried about running it on the old because itās going to get yanked once this is done since Iām short on sata cables and had to pull out my other data drive to put in the new one for cloning
If it was possible to isolate the garbage sections off and run off known good sectors only, Iād just shrink down to a smaller partition, but Iām thinking thereās physical damage or degradation to the platters thatāll just get worse if it stays in use

why do i feel like this will cause multiplayer issues
interesting, this dude did with AI what other people can do with blender
nice
this tool looks interesting tho
blender doesnt let you extract and change assets in a game while you are playing it and neither does it allow you to take snapshots of a level and load it into a leveleditor to change it without needing to access or extract the games files
yeah
i hope nvidia will ensure that this stuff can not be abused for multiplayer games/modes
I got an issue with it tho
it will be definitely used by idiots who don't understand why certain things are done by devs
well thats their own problem then
Oh the Nvidia thing
It has limited use anyways
Thereās only so much you can do with it cause they donāt wanna make all of their dev tools easily accessible obviously
That costs money :)
And it also only works in specific titles as of now iirc?
for now, yeah
Alright, time to just drag and drop. This is taking waaaaaaaaay too long
I dont think this is a good sign lol
I hope for your sake you can get anything at all off of it
Thankfully the bulk of whatās on there are programs/apps/whatever
Docs and stuff I think is at most 100-200gb
Nvidia showed off this tech at least a year ago. It's not AI so much as texture replacement
the AI textures arent the point of the video
And I have mixed feelings on it bc it takes the artistic vision of the developer out of the equation in a similar fashion to a thomas the tank engine mod to a game where you're just choosing w/e but I suppose there is already a long history of HD glowup mods for various games
I wish BMW put a good crank shaft in my car from factory :(

Well. Someone made WIndows not godawful. A tool that allows you to disable things like telemetry and the background shit they have running,

well the thing is I only use my pc 2-3 days every week since I have work irl

buy already built - but its custom designed

Installing a Intel 10th or 11th gen CPU is easy but make sure to not mess up as it can break your motherboard pins.

(except the plastic cover that 'pops off' won't be there since you already have a cpu installed, and that's fine)
How much of a caveman do you have to be to mangle an intel CPU on install with them being LGA?
it's just spooky for someone who's never done it before sometimes. As long as you're careful and don't drop something on the motherboard's pins you'll be fine
that's the one thing i don't like in that dude's video
they open the cpu package right over the motherboard lol
They're (almost) idiot proof at this point since they moved away from keying the 1 corner to adding the notches so it can literally only be installed one way.
huzzah
As for the person with the 14700, as many as there are that have problems, the majority are still fine. The doping spray w/e corrosion issues were only supposedly from 1 fab for like a 3 month period at the very start of 13th gen
14700 also doesn't push nearly as much of the envelope as the 14900 so I would expect proportionally less chance of issues as well
yep that's what i'm thinking too, the chances of anything going wrong are probably really small

I wonder about Surface Pro 11 with 4-6 hours gaming if I run FFXIV with standard laptop setting and no dropping 30 fps

Actually, I didn't expect it to run FFXIV smoothly, just for some crafting gathering. I just want some small size games like Stardew Valley, Slay the Spire, some Kairosoft games, Darkest Dungeon. are we actually seeing outtel now
flexibility and endless customization options. Plus it's posix compliant. Plus linux was always made to be used, windows was made to be managed
(the last 2 also count for macos - apple is very very much in the 'made to be used' camp)
I don't believe microsoft has ever in the history of microsoft given 2 shits what the users want
the desire to lord it over non linux users
and I think it's part of the reason xbox is not doing very well anymore
or why zune failed so fast
or microsoft's windows mobile thing after they tried to sell it to the iphone/android crowd
it's also why ms gave up on their peripheral business and sold it off lmao
MS is very very good at playing the corporate enterprise game
I'm using a 27 inch 2k screen and debates between another 27" 2k or a 24" Full-HD š¤
the awful thing is in the 90s and 2000s microsoft somehow became "the standard" when it came to desktop OSes and office suite software and game APIs and other things
even though it was proprietary as fuck
so we ended up with people looking at macos, linux, bsd, etc as "different"
but all of those OSes are fundamentally very similar
if you use windows daily and are happy with it though, that's great! just use what works for you and makes you happy lol
n-n-n-n-no, you donāt understand, i need to feel some form of s-s-s-superiority over people that do things differently than i do /s
ms did try hard to appeal to programmers used to working in linux environments
vscode+wsl makes for a very "I can't believe it's not linux" deal
since we're talking about windows here
and i'm scrolling through old pics again. here's the worst laptop I ever owned. xD
I mean, it wasn';t the oldest. just the worst.
meh, after debating games I play, I guess i will have to get another 27" 2k Screen. Sometimes I camp in games while doing works, and things can get pretty heptic if two screens have different solutions. My FFXIV UI elements and plugins are set for 2K. Put them on Full HD will be a royal pain as they will huddle each other and refuse to return to original positions. After working with 2k screen for my office work, I can't return to do them on tiny Full-HD š¦
@sly elk I don't think I will ever use Linux, but it is interesting to know :3
yea it's better for your screens to at least have a similar pixel density
one high res and one low res would drive me nuts
I think ARM Windows will be around to stay, or for the forseeable future. Mobile devices keep getting more capable, and Apple has more than proven the arch, so I expect more laptop vendors to want to use them. That will force MS hand to maintain it. And at the end of the day they have no reason to feel beholden to Intel/x86 as long as people are still using their OS.
Still go for Surface because it's long way to go
as long as I could do pixel art. Seem like I'm going to ask reddit about the program I using, works on it or not
Could try to use one in a store and see if you can download the app to it
It's my understanding that unless you need specific features proton can't handle, general computing works fine except for if an app requires AVX or whatever to run, in which case they won't work bc that's x86 only.
lol what a funny business oversight
the out-of-state dealer I bought my jeep's extended warranty from emailed me to let me know, turns out they can't legally sell warranties to people in CA or Florida
I don't think it's an oversight, I think it's probably simply not something that can be emulated at all/to a reasonable degree to implement atm.
Oh
so unless I can give them an out-of-state address to tie the sale to, they have to cancel it
lucky for me! I have one!
would be just my luck if i went ahead with the prorated refund and my engine blew or something lmao
I had a similar issue getting financing for my car: My credit union is from out of state, so they couldn't provide financing.
Not the end of the world, but still mildly annoying I missed out on 2.75% and had to take 3.99% direct from the automaker
dang
the credit union i have an account with is pretty decent, but not 2.75% lol. when I bought my jeep they offered me a rate and the dealer matched it with bofa
and then i paid it off earlier this year :3
I mean, this was in 2021 before the rates shot up
I'm sure if I checked now their rate would be like 6.75% or maybe even higher.
It's still based on the fedrate of course
just grabbed a Gigabyte G27Q cuz it is the cheapest 27 inch 2K 144hz screen I can get :d. Bonus a free monitor arm :3

NEW REVELATIONS VIDEO
nope lol. Neither of my computers care. Both have cpus with onboard gpu options
ya know this is another one of those "if only DIY PC vendors cared about thunderbolt" kinda things
although it's a gpu vendor problem too
with pcie 4.0/5.0 I think there's enough bandwidth on the pcie port to make thunderbolt ports on the gpu that supply pcie bandwidth too
but I think they can also send the video signal over the internal bus and then the thunderbolt ports on the motherboard would theoretically work for gpu-sourced video
atm whenever a motherboard does that it usually has a displayport input port lmao š
it's so ghetto and awful
i'm not sure why they decided to keep desktop connectivity in the stone age
then again iirc the 10 series still had dvi ports lmao

"We're finally addressing warranty concerns but we're posting it on Reddit away from media and investors"
They probably have a press thing on their website so other journalists will pick it up
They do, yeah, but when they first broke news of the microcode update that's supposed to fix the issue, they made a more in-depth but grim post on Reddit
Iām just curious how much performance impact when the micro code patch comes out compared to when they launched
If people get replacement CPUs and the microcode update addresses the root cause then itās whatever but if performance takes a decent hit thatās still bullshit
It might be them trying to escape a class-action lawsuit but I dunno for sure
(if they are, they're failing spectacularly)
From what I read (and Iām not an expert) as long as they stay good on their word for warranty replacements itās unlikely they will get hit with a class action

Been 4 years since i got it. Also other parts have died before and replaced
how are you sure its the mobo and not just the cpu?
I don't. Sent my PC to a local repair shop. It was their diagnosis
motherboard dying after 4 years sounds suspicious to me as a diagnosis
motherboards last way longer than that
ive been using pcs for 15 years and ive never had a motherboard die like ever
At this point i'm less concerned about being taken for a ride, and more concerned abt repairing my PC asap so i can get back to work and progs
alright well
whats your budget, what gpu do you have, what ram do you have and whats your psu?
Hmm... $1000 i guess?
2070, DDR4 16 GB, i forgot
ddr4 or ddr5 ram?

that's a huge fucking budget lmfao
well if you dont wanna buy new ram, id go with some midrange B550 board, like the msi B550 tomahawk and a 5700x3d
and yeah from the remaining money you could buy a better gpu if needed
Hmm... so you would recommend i get a midrange motherboard that can still use my DDR4 RAM, and get a new GPU? What abt CPU?
cpu would be the 5700x3d
Ah... sweet, i'll check the computer parts shop that i'm heading to now if they have those in stock
Thanks for the advice

whart country are you from or what site do you use, so i can help check?

Intel being sketchy
they bullshitted too close to the sun and ended up burning themselves
looking forward to Steve putting them on blast
me too
i still can't believe we're in an era where intel is the sketchy brand with cpus burning themselves out lmao
how even
they made a lot of groundbreaking shit and they were the brand to trust for CPUs
AMD was always gonna be second banana, or so we thought
they got just a tad too greedy, like every big OEM does
AMD has never been consistent with the way they way they sell stuff either like
they like playing the underdog game until they're suddenly not
then they try to charge way too damn much
for (literally) hot chips yeah
years of bullying, manipulation and greed made them become careless, yeah.
im personally just really enjoying the fanboys trying to cope
yea if anything it's just a reminder to never drink the koolaid/bandwagon a brand lol

it's also nice how 4 out of 5 of those have a fine print attached
5 doesn't bc it's probably their latest made-up term, so it doesn't have anything to compare to yet /s
Yes it is
Although the 40% less power claim seems unreasonable would be cool
Whereās the fine print that says that only happens under 307 conditions
