Supported quad SLI
Didn’t LTT have a video on one of these ages ago
There was an all Evga build or something
Could you imagine having 4 GTX 580s god that would’ve been a toasty ass PC lmao
Or a quad SLI video
Probably yeah
That’s the only time I’ve seen one in use
It was really pointless but 2 way SLI worked okay
I had 2 GTX 580s and battlefield 3 in particular scaled perfectly
Idk what my first gpu was but it was a lot newer than that lol
Might have been like a GTX 970 I got from someone
Those were great for the price
Aside from the whole 4GB meme
lol
All the Nvidia GPUs I’ve owned are 70 cards
I had a 970 I think, laptop1070 and now a 4070ti
They were the best bang for the buck until recent times
I mean tbh 4070ti even was a good deal at the time I got it
I had a 1070 before my 4090 and for I think 329 USD it was a champ
£740 for a 4070ti
On release
Compared to the rest of the options it was still a steal
Yeah true that
I think a 7900xt was going for over £800
At the time
Bc funny release prices for xt and xtx
Remember when they were gonna name the 4070 and 4080 as well
My 1070m was basically a desktop 1060 tho
WTF were they smoking
I don’t find the 12GB vram an issue anyway
And by the time I do it will likely be upgrading time anyway
I’ve allocated 11.9gb for cyberpunk with path tracing in one area of the map so far
So idk using like 11 ish
And that dropped since I started using memory OC profile
Memory bandwidth the killer of 40 series RT performance
It’s honestly a non issue for a vast majority of people yeah, they have tons of cache on the die and faster memory clocks which was intended to make up the difference only issue is most games aren’t designed that way
Do the 70 series cards use GDDR6X or just regular GDDR
I went from lows at 20-25 up to 55
Idk I think the ti uses 6x and I imagine the 70 does too
My memory temps are questionable sometimes but it’s fine
Hitting too close to 100° for my liking but I only rly use it for cyberpunk
I think the temps of vram on modern GPUs last 2 gens for Nvidia haven’t been amazing
Ignoring engineering spec for the memory apparently
But I mean do u rly need ur card to last over 4-5 years with how fast stuff is developing rn?
It’s usually the first thing that goes on a graphics card
I think they rate them at 120c TJ max but not 100 percent sure
Guess that entirely depends on your budget. And being a lot of games still barely utilize the full potential of a GPU you could get plenty of miles out of them
Hell I used that 1070 for 7 years cause all I played was overwatch
I don’t think much is lasting over 5 years for the majority unless ur super tight on money
But those people are still on 1050s rn anyway
I do find it funny how people just ignore the power draw of some GPUs in Europe even tho the prices are high enough that within 2 years you end up spending more on the initially ‘better deal’ one
Like people who bought a 3090 instead of the 4070
Yeah if energy prices are high and you game often it probably adds up
And then within 2 years you spend like $200 more on electricity bills
Energy is dirt cheap here so nobody really cares
In the UK it’s the worst probably
30-40p per kWh
I’ve saved like £120 owning a 4070ti over a 7900xt by my estimates
I consider that a win
I think I pay like 13 cents a kilowatt
That’s pretty good
In Europe I think some countries are around 20-30
So it’s an amount that can add up over the time u own a gpu if u play games a lot
Or u have it at 100% load for actual work it’s even worse
I thought England was just really depressing from my photos until I got my new phone, turns out it just made everything grey and desaturated
Not too dissimilar to this country most of the year ig
It’s crazy how much better mobile phone cameras have gotten over the last 5 years
yeah
mine seems to not wanna focus on close up shots anymore though no idea why
its pretty old though like 5 years
Mines technically like2? Years ago model
So 5 years between last one and this one
But the current one is pretty much the same anyway
I feel like this happens whenever a company significantly changes the main sensor or something for the first time
To increase the general quality the macro shots end up worse
iirc happened with pixel and iPhones when they went to 50 and 48MP ones
yeah makes sense
on the iOS camera app you usually just tap where you want it to focus and it should focus but now it does nothing so maybe something broke who knows
still takes photos fine just cant focus on close up shots
Hmm
Yeah idk
Might just be new iOS updates making camera funny
These are my comparison photos I used lol
The first image just has no colour lmao
yeah looks nice
I think it’s cool a similar camera is gonna be on the new iPhone SE
Tbh
Albeit just one lens
48mp lens, A16, and OLED screen for probably $450 starting seems alright to me
So long as the battery is alright
seems like a bargain of a deal
Yeah for people who care about photography less
So I see it as like an alternative to the plus
Tbh
Like ok camera good processor better value than the base model
But not huge
Finally updating to the iPhone 13 screen design is big too
No more home button lol
Apple making not shit products these days noway
Toyota truck You can't see torque!
.
.
.
@MoparcrazyExotic
that frame literally twisting lmao

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZm3-t93if8 god damn look at the meat on them tires
“Hey maybe we should stagger updates to make sure nothing breaks before pushing to everyone on earth” - $75bn multinational corporation
Mind blowing
The world wasn’t ready for the Chrysler 200S
300 something horsepower from the V6
Good automatic transmission making it get 36mpg
Same performance as an STi and EVO
But uglier than both
And didnt have the track record in motorsports the other two had
Yea and STi’s and EVO’s are overpriced and you can get a mint 200S for under 6k USD
Especially the last two gens of both STi and EVO
Really heavy and no power increases
Yeah but there’s a reason people want those 2 and not a 200s lol
The 200s is ugly as hell and has no achievements at all
I know for a fact from dig racing and roll racing that newer EVO’s and STi’s are slower than the E46 but the older cars stock are even or quicker in the quarter
I’d just buy a v6 accord instead
Evo 5 was cool
its kinda crazy just how old the 3.5 Honda V6 is
Lmao
super basic ass engine too, its only SOHC
Yea if you can get an old Accord V6 coupe with the 6 speed it’s great
But it’s pretty good
But also FWD :(
Still fun
Understeer monster from when I’ve driven them
The S2000, NSX and the original S cars
Then not really
The very first cars they built were RWD chain drive
Yeah but engine sound good and go fast
I suppose maybe the the ridgeline but thats AWD, probably FW bias I dunno
lets google
The real answer if u don’t live in a loser country like the US is an old civic type R
btw have you ever seen the honda ridgeline wikipedia page
the author is a turbo nerd its amazing and hilarious at the same time
I mean the Type R is even a little meh
Nah
The Honda Ridgeline (YK2/YK3) is the second generation of pickup truck manufactured by Honda under the Ridgeline nameplate. The second generation Ridgeline took a different approach in design from the first generation Ridgeline by using Honda's new "global light truck platform," found in the third generation Honda Pilot as well as other large Ho...
just marvel in this please
Almost every Type R is great
Old ones are cool cause they were modifiable from factory very easily
K20 is elite
From the JDM importer/resto shop I worked with they said the Mugen Type R’s were the only ones perfect but it’s a Mugen from factory so lol
FK2s here are like 10k
Owner of said shops Silvia Spec R
Intelligent traction management—which offers different drive modes normal and snow for front-wheel drive (FWD) and adds mud and sand for all-wheel drive (AWD) that adjusts throttle mapping, shift points, power distribution, and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) responses—(all models):,
so I was right, its AWD FWD bias
and it uses that shitty ZF 9 speed
S15 the worst one fr
No ZF 8 speed :(
S13 and 14 were better
Also AWD is ass
And an s14a is super cheap
The GT-R overheats its clutch based LSD instantly cause of its AWD system
nice clean lines
Yea the owner of that shop has a lot of cars
He almost bought an R33 400R
Back when they weren’t over a million
Just close
skyline prices are becoming ok here so long as it’s not a GTR now
I did zinc plate some parts for a 400R they were restoring tho
It’s the blue one that went to auction a year ago
Not bayside blue
The dark blue
Anything that’s not an R34
R34 is at 200k USD in Japan rn
The r32 and 33 GTR still aren’t cheap
R33 GTR under 100k, R32 under 40
The r34 is just especially insane
Under 100k for a 33 is still expensive
R34 GT-T’s cost 30k in mint condition and it removes all the problematic electronics that the GT-R has plus its RWD
I’d rather have the AWD
But yeah
I’d get a 33 GTT probably
Or 32
They cost nothing
But still cool
The 34 GT-T is just so much better value
It’s the same car without all wheel steering and all wheel drive
But it costs 200k less
And a slightly different engine no?
But u could get work done and it would be the same for less money
I thought the GTT engines were smaller bore than the GTR ones
I think the 32 GTR is better value than the 34 GTT tho
The 34 doesn’t look nice particularly anyway
R34 GTT for 30k or r32 GTR for 33k I mean I know what I’d buy
Nope it’s the same official output
But it’s probably lower
What with the gentleman’s agreement
It’s a single turbo RB
Only difference lol
4 wheels means more fast
I would 100% take the older GTR over the more expensive GTTs out there tho
They look better stock as well
true to an extent though thats more just associated with more grip
guess it depends on the application
lower to mid range powered vehicles I dont think it really matters
they would both do fine
More power and awd is going to be faster than the lower power rwd one still
Most likely
yes, this is correct
you would have enough power to overcome the driveline loss and weight savings you would get from RWD
but RWD is still more fun

because I said so

AWD doesn’t always mean more fast
I wouldn’t want to drive anything more powerful that’s rwd
RWD is fun in the winter when you cant stop because you have no traction so you just whip a shitty around the corner and look like a badass
The reason why racing GT-R’s were so fast was because the AWD split was even less
So they hooked up in straights way better
you just need good tires, like that 454SS truck I posted above look at them massive boys on the back
It was still not rwd
You create lift by forcing a wheel to spin
Rotating mass also doesn’t like to turn, hence AWD and FWD understeer
The squat from AWD cars with good torque and power is fun tho
only if its full time AWD and FWD biased
if its part time modern systems can disable it when cornering
though you still have CV axles
which suck

because I said so

speaking of which I think my passenger side one on the toyota tacoma is going bad I can hear some binding when taking sharp turns in the parking lot
that or maybe a ball joint
doesnt sound too good should probably get that fixed
What year Tacoma
2016
the worst year

it hasnt been all that unreliable I bought it used from a certified toyota dealer so it probably had all the recalls taken care of
but if you look it up on NHTSA oh boy 2016 was not a good year
guess its better than the prior gen tacomas with rotting frames
Lmao true
that probably wasnt a fun recall for Toyota
having to basically rebuild your truck from scratch
lets go places
this is why I dont like boxed frames, sure they are stronger but they just dont hold up well in terms of corrosion
my chevy with its C channel still holding up 34 years later while this 10 year old hunk of junk rotting to the ground cause water gets stuck in it
BRUH IIT SNOWS HERE GOTTA HAVE AWD
-drives over the speed limit in a blizzard and ends up in one of those videos-
People who have AWD cars on summer tires and leave TC on
Your supposed to turn TC off
You just take shit slow
all wheel drive doesn't mean all wheel stop
My Chrysler Sebring would drift in the snow
or all wheel traction on ice
the chrysler sebring was a product of hq being in detroit and getting too concerned about snow x_X
actually the sebring being fwd was kinda ok
Also I feel bad for people who buy RWD only trucks cause they literally just can’t go anywhere in the snow lol
My 80/20 split vehicle
idk what it was about american companies and making giant FWD cars that couldn't handle worth a shit
Cause
Most ppl don’t care
The Sebring was a great car ngl
Little power but it didn’t weigh much
FWD so it was fine
i've never driven one but I imagine it unfairly earned a bad rep like most chrysler stuff does lmao
Like mine never had an issue
I daily drove one for two years
tldr; it’s a normal economy car
It’s made of plastic so you can just replace everything
coulda bought a focus/fusion from the same time and had a plethora of transmission problems
And everything for it is dirt cheap
though I think with cars in that class, the real winner is the altima lmao
Also it was fun redlining the Sebring cause it would do it all day no problem
except for the cvt I guess
It’s a Nissan
altimas seem to be indestructible
My Sebring had 250k miles and ran like a champ
nah the sebring assuming its an early 2000s had the mitsubishi engine in it
Mine was an 06 I think
the intrepid (which is arguably the worst car ever made) had that shitty 2.7 in it
they even put in some of the chargers lmao
I don’t remember a lot about that car besides I didn’t do any maintenance for 15k miles and it still didn’t have issues
Plus it didn’t run better after doing a full engine tune up service
All fluids and flushes, spark plugs, injectors (they were cheap) etc
oh okay the sedan is the shitty one the coupe is the mitsubishi one
thats kinda weird they are almost entirely different cars made in different plants lol
Yes
Yea shrug
My car never had issues
I want another one to rally
Cause it did drive great in gravel and dirt lol
Fat ass cast iron engine over the front, car was a basic steel frame with plastic panels

hey all, im currently looking into picking up a new cpu as ive been shifting towards xiv more as my "main game" and from what i gather xiv is definitely one of the more cpu-intensive games out there rn, especially with dawntrail somewhat upping the bar for appropriate specs.
my current setup is a 5600X with a 3080 and i play on 1080 ultrawide - i usually try to aim for high refresh rate gameplay but im contemplating maybe going up to a higher res somewhere down the line.
what's the best route i can take for upgrading? i've heard the X3D line of cpus perform quite nicely so ive mainly been looking into the 5800X3D and 7800X3D, but i recognize the non-X3D 9000 series is coming out very very soon.
my current board only supports AM4 but looking at prices between a 5800X3D and a micro center bundle with a 7800X3D, a newer board and a set of DDR5 only runs me about $150 more.
there should be some benchmarks available for ffxiv I do know the X3D chips perform quite well in ffxiv though from my experience those bundles are shit cause I ended up with some DDR5 6400 ram that I couldnt even enable XMP/EXPO on lmao so take that with a grain of salt
even if the ram kit is total shit, the bundle price is still cheaper than the unit prices for the mobo and cpu lol
the ram is 32gb of ddr5-6000 btw
I would compare how much better the 5800X3D performs compared to your 5600 but if budget isnt an issue then the 7800X3D would certainly help
thats good, im still kinda pissed they gave me that shitty ram kit I had to buy another kit on amazon
budget isnt necessarily an issue for the pricepoint im at. depending on the 9000 prices going up to that & getting a new board may prove to be an issue
the 7800X3D will perform better in games than the current 9000 series lineup, they havent announced the X3D 9000 series yet
and I dont anticipate them coming out until next year anyway
the ram kit is from g skill which my current ddr4 kit is from. not sure if its changed at all since you got it but i'd expect it to be fine
DDR5 6000 should be the good hynix memory I have gskill 6000 ram too
trident Z
the other shit was from samsung and they have terrible memory
yeah true. i also saw they announced a new am4 chip but idk how well it will stack up against the 7800x3d
yeah just look up some benchmarks and compare to what you have, obviously in game the only real taxing areas are the major towns and the game engine is pretty outdated so its not like you'll be seeing efficient use of the CPU all the time
5600x and 3080 should play XIV nicely at 1440p tbh
I don't think you need to spend any cash, unless you want to treat yourself
it handles the game okay for the most part, outside of like limsa (duh) but its been getting a bit harder to meet my full 200hz refresh rate in a lot of cases
I honestly dont even think any CPU will constantly give you 200 FPS
I have a pretty good rig and granted I play at 4K but I usually only get 90-100 FPS in limsa and that was before DT
for gaming I would just go with X3D (unless you can wait until november-decemberish). the uplift in 9xxx isn't much aside from the fixes in multi thread and memory speed.
Maybe a 13900KS
At full boost and gods best cooling
When reports came out Wednesday afternoon that CrowdStrike sent out $10 Uber Eats vouchers to partners — i.e. the third-party agents selling CrowdStrike to customers and managing their day-to-day needs — as a token of apology for making their lives miserable during the worst global tech outage in history, there were three main buckets of reactio...
Would you accept the 10$ Uber eats voucher as the apology? How hungry are you at the time of the offer?
the 2.7 in the LX was hella slow lol
Oh he posted pics of it on his Insta
like iirc it did 0-60 in 11 seconds
on paper the 2.7 had a pretty good power output for its displacement but it was still a piece of shit
whoever thought that was a good idea hopefully doesn't work there anymore
on launch the v6 and v8 300s were two very very different cars
Chrysler had a good V6 already they should've just kept working with the 3.3 and 3.5s
the 2.7 charger was not sold at retail, it was a rental trim only
but even that seemed really strange
you run a car company, you know that rental cars are basically ambassadors for your brand
Eh
why would you sell a stripped out car that goes even slower than the version they sell publicly
it did hurt the 300 too lmao
Fleet/Rental is just a way of making easy money
@deep sapphire have you ever seen a Primadonna Z
Good recommendation for double DIN stereos with wireless carplay?
Guy who made these did them in an apartment parking stall lmao
Any decent brand, Pioneer, Alpine etc
Nope
CarPlay is very picky
Pioneer but they are more expensive
Some no name Chinese brands on Amazon take it with a grain of salt if they are good or not
I've been looking at this https://www.sony.com/lr/electronics/in-car-receivers-players/xav-ax6000
like in the interior there was a massive difference lol. and then the brakes, suspension, transmission were all different too
Hi Guys, I have had a couple request for more information on the Primadonna's built in the late 70's/early 80's. This is the story, from JackAtkinson (Designer, Builder). I added the photo's to illustrate the story. There are hundreds more photo's but this should give you the idea. THE PRIMADONNA...
Mmmm American plastic
the exterior was dramatically different too
A Z called ZBAIT cause nobody could catch it in street races
The Chrysler 3.3 was a good reliable engine I wish they stuck with it longer
i like american plastic tho XD
could be worse
could be acura plastic
or honda paint... or honda transmissions
wait why do people buy hondas anyway
because they think all japanese makes are good vehicles
what they should be thinking is only Toyota has a fairly consistent track record for quality
Honda isnt bad but they sure have had a troubled history
Got a 2014 CRV with 115k miles on it right now, I'll run it in to the ground
Assuming my mental health doesn't run in to the ground first
i just watched a benchmark video from an italian youtuber that allegedly got their hands on a retail 9900x, the results were nearly identical to the 7800x3d in pretty much every game across all resolutions
yeah (I saw that)
some of the 0.1% fps are a lot better but some are worse
th average is for the most part similar enough
(that the money you'll spend on the cpu can be better put on lower latency ram)
In fairness I didn't buy the Honda it's a company vehicle
But it's pretty solid
I'm a Mazda guy, I miss my MPS...
it's all good, I did wonder! but buying a honda is valid lol
when my mom pondered if we should buy an suv i did kinda like the mdx.. kinda ... *
This was my baby when I lived in South Africa 🥰
When Honda makes a good vehicle it’s really good, when they make a bad vehicle it’s really bad
That’s the annoying part
Throughout all of the 2000s they had terrible automatic transmissions paired with the V6
The automatic transmission they made was basically a manual transmission lmao it wasn’t a typical torque converter one
Also appliable for motorcycle side as well
Tho in that field they are both affordable and reasonable
you may see Honda rampant in SEA

Let’s go, smokes
I DO NOT, NOR CLAIM TO OWN ANY OF THE FOOTAGE USED IN THIS VIDEO. ALL CREDIT GOES TO OWNERS AND CREATORS OR THE SHOW AND THE STATION AIRED. THIS IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY
this is a really really stupid question
but why don't they make portable ac units that you put outside your window and then just run a duct to blow cool air into your room
ahhhh seems my joy with fedora was short lived lmao
i seemingly fixed the nvidia driver issue and then it updated the kernel and broke it again
but what's really fucking frustrating is that when it boots everything's fine until suddenly blackscreen and no ctrl+alt+# switches me to a tty ><
WTF
hm. a friend got a LG 27GL850-B cuz I used one and liked it.
Turn out he is not very pleased
https://i.imgur.com/HJnJAlL.png
basically, he tried every mode and slider, but he still dislike how the LG screen (left) has weird contrast compared to his old screen (right).
personally, I like color popping out so the LG screen works for me 🤔
I wonder if there is a remedy or just tell him to trade for another one
so the first thing I'd ponder is if one of those is using displayport and the other is using hdmi
also if that one on the right is ips, which I... think it probably is since it's an lg screen and even their cheap ones usually are
because sometimes va screens look faded like that :S
I mean he’s just not used to it looking decent lol
I feel like if he used it for a week and went back to the old one he’d think it looks awful
yea the new one looks way moer saturated
how to: not owning any vehicle :3
Where tiny floof
well my chair aint arriving after all. probably not before next week either because the company tasked with delivering said their van broke down
That part is frustrating yeah
Usually I set in power save mode (laptop only iirc??) which is iGPU (intel) while updating things
FFxiv having some tearing issue but unknown if due to driver or whatnot hmmm
I present: COLOR CALIBRATOR yeah your pal really need it
is it the monitor buttons or a software way? :d
It is a real dedicate unit hol up lemme pull the link
Something something like dis
https://www.amazon.com/Datacolor-SpyderX-Pro-Calibration-Photographers/dp/B07M6KPJ9K
SpyderX is the best Spyder ever. SpyderX Pro is designed for serious photographers and designers seeking a fast, accurate and easy-to-use monitor calibration solution in order to set up their color management workflow easily. Wait for black friday if u could
Also my piston rings are still great cause I have basically zero fuel vaporization bypassing them, 0.1% fuel content in oil that’s been driven on for 3k miles vs the average of 2.0%
S23U should be quite close to the S24 and probably cheaper too now
but I guess it depends on what you want
Also recommend to check the price from le website itself
is s23 any good? 😂
https://m.gsmarena.com/stats.php3 S23 isn't even reach the list
I mean it's basically the S24U with a slightly different camera and a bit less battery I think
and S22U is presumably just a worse 23
and idk why you're using search rankings for figuring out if something is good or not
According to yourself, you should get an A55 instead :D
I'm using a15 ._. I'm buying one for my dad
I need something with 3.5mm jack
but he doesn't need it, soo
ty ty
ill consider it haha
I’m kinda amazed my 383 still has great oil pressure after so many years
Nothin beats the simplicity of an old Chevy small block
I have so much blowby that I no longer have blowby
Call that a blowjob
@potent arrow I want a Volvo V60 polestar :(
Transverse mounted inline 6 with 345 horsepower
Came stock with adjustable Ohlins dampers and brembos
AWD also
but thats sexy lol
I think it’s an awesome car
The first Polestar cars like that are so good
Back when polestar was just barely bought by Volvo and was still just a Motorsport company
Practical quick daily that isn’t offensive to look at so yes
Oh they only sold 120 of the damn things in North America
turned out, the problem si whenever the kernel updates i have to wait a little bit for akmods to rebuild the nvidia driver for the new kernel
but fedora is trying to do updates windows style
wher ei go to shut down and it's like OH YEA KERNEL UPDATE, HERE!
and for whatevre reason that doesn't trigger the driver rebuild lmao
and yea for wahtever the (*@#% reason, the nvidia driver on fedora is hacky bullshit
LOLOLOLOLOL ye that's why
However am looking forward nvidia be more open sauce their driver
No not Nouveau
Ye that's the bruh style of fedora, as it treats drivers as something else but not include in the main package then it's linux
i am so salty about it
i'm tempted to grab my other machine's 6650xt and stick it in my machine instead of the 3080ti
https://www.reddit.com/r/Corvette/comments/1ebumm5/the_new_2025_chevrolet_corvette_zr1_leaked_ahead/
if true holy shit
Jesus that’s big
man
WAIT WHAT
oh they had me for a second ;_;
a corvette showed up at less than msrp but when I clicked the link it was over msrp
what in the sweet mental gymnastics is this
https://www.euronews.com/next/2024/07/22/microsoft-says-eu-to-blame-for-the-worlds-worst-it-outage
admittedly i'd rather pay the extra $7k to get it in blue
(they don't have any poverty trim corvettes in stock in blue)
ok extra 10k x_X
1000hp vette??
Ain’t no way
Oh shit it actually does
And 1200lbs of downforce near V max
thats almost double what the Z06 makes
It’s a Z06 with insane power and downforce apparently
thats fuckin insane
Same suspension
Same chassis tuning
Just all the power
It’s like a Shelby Super Snake sorta
GT500 but even more fucking power
that sounds great and all
i wonder how effective it all is
vs focusing the effort on making a good all around regular price sporty car.. aah wait nvm
I mean it’s a GT3 RS competitor
i assume that part of the reason for not giving the people who have $60k to spend on a car that much love
is the dodge charger effect
More power, less downforce means it’s more like a GT2 class car
the stereotype ppoor people shouldn't be allowed to drive fast cars
and to be fair poor people aren't gonna have good insurance LOL
I mean expensive engineering means expensive end product
Corvettes have always been a bargain tho
The C8 especially
C8 base is comparable to a Ferrari 488
then again that situation appears to have gotten a lot better lately
488’s cost 200k minimum lol
like looking at that inventory page
I see a lot of C8’s
it sounds like one might be able to just call a dealer up and have a corvette in a short amount of time
Not every dealer is authorized to sell Vettes tho
It’s like getting the Shelby permissions
Only one dealer group in Utah is allowed to sell Shelby’s
Think it’s sorta the same deal with the Corvette where only high performing dealers get allocations
yea i think the base corvette is the best one just because how much you get for the price :3
but to be totally fair
seeing that 1064hp model made me go look at what a normal one costs xD

over 800ft lbs of torque
the turbos reach 2/3rds the temperature of the space shuttle on reentry
so they are probably nice and red when driving super hard
Supposedly after this they are gonna make this mixed with the hybrid system
That’s just insane
that would be 1800F or 985C
without hybrid it has more output than a Ferrari SF90
which is another twin turbo mid engine V8 car
and the SF90 is a twin turbo V8 and a full race hybrid system and it makes under 1000hp
it also costs like 500k base
Is the jump from a R5 3600 to a R7 5700x3d reasonable enough at the moment when sticking to AM4?
i think that the 5700x3d and 5800x3d are very close, and the 5800x3d is still a very compelling cpu even now.
yes
its a very significant jump in gaming performance especially if you have a decent gpu
The 5800X3D is getting harder to find so I would get the 5700X3D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DznKg1IjVs0 (fair warning: 2 hours long)
TL;DW: the 0x125 micro code runs about 50mv less Vcore for 6GHz boost with my CPU. So instead of 1.5V it runs 1.45V. However 8T cinebench still gets all the way upto 1.4V even at around 80C which I don't really think is safe. I'm guessing intel will probably lower voltages even more with the August update. Also I'm not sure that every CPU will ...
looks like glorified undervolt (it "behaves better" but may hardware degrade still if it's a byproduct of oxidation of via process)
Twitter just activated a setting by default for everyone that gives them the right to use your data to train grok. They never announced it. You can disable this using the web but it's hidden. You can't disable using the mobile app
Direct link: https://t.co/lvinBlQoHC
Only if ur GPU is good enough that it would make a difference
Otherwise you’re throwing money away for nothing
The 5700x3d in general is good tho its basically on par with the 7600 but cheaper for am4 users
Got a RX 6600xt
the performance uplift wont be that huge then unless you plan to upgrade the gpu anytime soon or really play CPU bound games
Or unoptimized games where you need specs above the listed up ones to be playable
So as expected then: It's basically a small perf hit overall, and if you have oxidation it's obv not a silver bullet for those issues.
You’ll notice little to no difference then
In a game that needs much better than a 3600 for high settings it will more than likely need better than a 6600xt as well
I'll still get it, though. It's something to work on down the line towards next year.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/search-for-the-solution-to-raptor-lakes-instabilities-continues/ yeah Raptor Lake is kill
that AI-generated art
Wow I did not except the embody to be this small
Also considering both are top choice of AM4 DDR4, yep
well prolly a bit diff on linux heheh
Believe it or not, there’s another blue screen that’s popping up on some Windows machines. Microsoft says some Windows 11 devices will see a blue BitLocker recovery screen at boot after installing the July 2024 Windows security update. The issue isn’t widespread, but those impacted will have to enter a recovery key to get a PC to boot properly. ...
Why would it be different
Mostly in windows bloating may affect some resources here and there plus driver shenanigan
Then again gaming on linux is also weird bc mostly are wine/proton shenanigan
Not enough to change hardware requirements for games when ur using a half decent PC
It gives u an edge of ur using ewaste to play games it barely wants to run
it is deceptively small yeah but the seating surface is huge
the seating area is smaller than my ikea markus
my butt also feels every one of these plastic things in the seat
does it??
yeah
doesnt feel very comfy. but the backrest is great. it cups my back very well as long as i dont move my arms to the back
I feel like when people get an actually decent chair they got used to sitting in bad positions in their old crappy one and think the new one sucks
But it’s just designed to support u with good posture
yeah it took me a little while to get used to it as well
but I quickly realized that I didn't get the back pain from it that I got from the chairs I had before it
Mfs will say their secret lab chair is ‘more comfortable’ bc it lets them sit in a position that will lead to crippling back pain
I still think the aeron is the best chair
don’t forget the swamp ass
My complaints aren't about posture though
You’ve had it what less than a day and are talking about whether it’s comfortable
You are the type of person I was referencing when I was talking about that
im sorry for noticing right away that i would prefer the armrest to be further on the front i guess?
and sorry i didnt know that my ass needs 2 business weeks to reliably feel the plastic points under the seat, guess its just pretending to feel it rn
kinda Curious how big your butt is, I have problems getting out of the aeron lol
because I'm so small
https://x.com/InfernoOmni/status/1816492686087508174 lmao what the fuck
guys this is actually INSANE. a former employee of a multi-billion dollar company, Runway, confirmed that they mass downloaded YouTube videos in order to feed their AI. there's a spreadsheet with NOTES showing HOW they swiped videos. Nintendo was on the list.
you are tiny
I sit low enough so it’s easy to get out of mine
I’m not super small tho I’m like 5’5 small
lol
pirated anime for it
Nintendo and Ghibli would absolutely wipe them off the map
Lmao
i hope they do
I fall out of my seat lmaooo
for once Nintendo being overly litigious may be useful
I just aged visibly after reading this question
okay but how about this

I had the rare luxury of actually needing a dual dvi cable
when I owned the U3011 cause it was 2560x1600
yeah I dont recall anyone ever using it lmao
wtf is micro dvi
I think apple used it briefly
I bet it was dropped because people jammed usb cables in there
It just never really took off and USB 3.0/USB-C did the same thing and more iirc
reminds me of my GTX 580 if you wanted to use HDMI it used mini HDMI and the fuckin heat melted the end of the cable causing it to fail

and I guess the image is so old that USB A 3.0 was still "the future"
netbooks should be tossed in the trash
good
I owned a netbook once, it was awful
...Is it though? Companies can and will get away with anything they can, including illegal shit as long as they know the penalty is less than the profit derived from it. Then it's just a cost of business.
the insane part is probably stirring the hornets' nest
sounds like an investment scam
yeah, literally who, they're definitely gonna get scorched earthed
probably what it is
one of those tech startups that managed to get a lot of money from investment companies by waving "AI" in front of them
Nah they won't bc there aren't enough laws on the books about AI training models yet
daddy works at blackrock
USB?
no wif, it not USB
yo
https://www.theverge.com/2024/7/26/24206529/intel-13th-14th-gen-crashing-instability-cpu-voltage-q-a
so are they gonna offer a recall or do we need to contact daddy in washington to force them to issue one
They better do a recall because they'll have a bigger mess on their hands if they don't

granted they did offer me an RMA I just turned it down because I dont feel like being out of a processor for who knows how long
why cant companies take a playbook out of EVGA and offer an expedited system like wtf
like w/e I'll pay the 350 buck deposit I just dont wanna be out of a computer lol
if they make it hard for you to RMA stuff then you won't RMA it, that's why
it's a dark pattern
normally I would agree but intel literally kept contacting me at regular intervals even when I didnt respond to them
most companies dont even bother to contact you back in general
like every 5 days they would send me another email asking me what the update was if I shipped it out etc.
I dunno maybe its because I told them I've been using their CPUs for 20 years as a system builder they felt bad or something
but Cablemod does the same kinda thing, where I have to provide them with photographic evidence that I destroyed my old 90 degree 12VHPWR adapter before they'll send me the new one
shit happens, I get it but like they need to make it right their brand loyaly is on the line here
and it's like why do you think I bought that thing, I can't close my case without one
you guys swore high and low that you tested it and it wouldn't pose a risk before I bought it, and now you're telling me that you lied to me
haha right, I lucked out and bought an O11 mini didnt even think anything of the whole cable thing but its wider than most mid towers so that gave me clearance
really stupid design
it should have been put on the backside of the card
it sucks
the 30 series had theirs recessed at an angle and I've never heard of any 30 series owner having them fail
maybe I'll just order a replacement adapter, swap it out, and then destroy the old one and provide evidence of it and get a second one
adapters like that will stay useful in the future because 12VHPWR looks like it's going to be the new standard for gpu power going forward
on one hand I like the idea of a small simple interface but it clearly wasnt designed with any user error at all
there is literally zero tactile when inserting it
which is like ???
I dunno if you've ever worked on cars but all the connectors they use thats literally the only way you can tell if its fully inserted
I haven't worked on a car directly but my dad used to be a car mechanic and he knows a lot about them
he taught me a bunch of stuff about what goes on under the hood
so that I'm not completely clueless
a lot of them use a buckle style latch and makes a very audible click when its fully recessed in, the old molex style used the hook system but even that was sufficient its not like those were failing at record numbers
companies have dedicated teams to try and make the product fail and design it in a way thats nearly impossible for anyone to fuck it up
guess nvidia forgot to hire a team

knock on wood mine still holding up fine but neither the PSU side or the 4090 had any tacticle feel when I inserted it
I imagine it's also because if a car fails people might die
although that didn't stop Tesla
yeah they have to account for vibration and what not
it USA wif?
no wif, it is not
GM used these for awhile but I think most automakers moved to the german designed connector cant remember the name
the rubber boot kept moisture out and also helped insulate the connector from vibration
they worked pretty good

it a amphenol wif!
hey hank if USA so good, whyd they make USB
Digital Video something + video something somthing
also known as DMS
no
Digital Visual Interface
and Video Graphics Array
DVI was the high bandwidth version of VGA basically, D-DVI allowed twice the bandwidth up to I think 2560x1600 maybe a little higher
HDMI wasnt very common on monitors at the time nor was display port
well DMS-59 was used as VGA-VGA or D-DVI
tbh DMS port is quite obsolete nowadays
A Molex connector is a two-piece pin-and-socket interconnection which became an early electronic standard. Developed by Molex Connector Company in the late 1950s, the design features cylindrical spring-metal pins that fit into cylindrical spring-metal sockets, both held in a rectangular matrix in a nylon shell.

god when HDDs and fans used these terrible abominations
it's the Molex centipede
lmao i remember people whining about macs not having it too
I hate molex
I hated pulling a seized molex out of a hard drive
glad they were on the way out when I learned about them in school
especially when it was the kind that had the flat back and you tried pulling on it and the back came off
this is how i set fire to a PC once
god old drives were so loud
also the older it got the worse it was
kinda made me laugh that steve jobs was so obsessed with a quiet computer and made all these fans and stuff run really quiet but then you got this loud ass HDD anyway
like i killed my 8088 because the motherboard hard drive connector didn't have a plastic surround on the ide (probably mfm or something shit old like that) connector lol
and when I tried to put the cable back on one of the pins broke off XD
speaking of old HDDs
it was sad
I fried a brand new AMD board because I forgot to put a single stand off in a case and it shorted out the fan controller IC
Remember when a Janet Jackson song could crash laptop ones?
but i had my stupid moment. never should've taken it apart.
yes
that happened to a lot of people
thats a good song
remember that era in the 2000s when cases had these awful standoffs
like instead of using jack screws
they used these folded metal clips
hahahah i just remembered these ones too
powder coated, rounded edges
though at least the plasti ones don't short your motherboard out
intel still uses those fuckin things on the stock cooler
AHHHH GET RID OF THEM
"sup bitches my PC has 300 drive bays"

also thankfully motherboards don't usually do the 'we decided to not put a hole here where practically every case has a standoff' thing anymore
apple did, too
oh wow even the legendary case used those awful standoffs ;_;
my favorite apple story is that they used dexcool on the G5 watercooling and because it did dexcool things it leaked and corroded everything

that giant ass heatsink on the powermac g5 motherboard
was held on with plastic push pins
oh yeah, I think that was pretty common on a lot of boards
if you ever find a powermac g5 that crashes a lot
it's most likely because a push pin came loose
lmao
as you can see there's only 3
and that thing weighs a good amount
i bought my g5 used and 'broken' because that fell off
iirc it was hanging by 1 push pin lmao
I had an X58 board where the SB and NB were held down by that same system
yea sadly still done a lot i think
also on that note
the #1 ssd slot on my motherboard uses a neat clip-in system for both the ssd and the heatsink
but I must've put it on wrong the first time or somethign because the heatsink fell off lmao
Dell used that system sorta on their slim PCs
well not quite fell off but it unclipped
because i went to do something and noticed it was kinda halfway leaning on my video card LOL
we can all give Dell shit but I gotta give them props for the tool less design
apple was good about that too on their older workstations
steve gives them props for how complicated they are
they can be kinda janky but depends on the tower
I had to refurb a lot of older precision workstations usually wasnt too bad
these bad boys
molex sounds like a brand of dentures
i just hate their swingarm power supply cases
everything about them is flimsy and they like slicing off cables too
ha yeah thats true
fuckin shitty sharp edged steel
I always joked that anytime you build a PC one of your fingers will be bleeding 🤣

So uh
I have a 14900HX laptop I bought in Singapore
Fucking hell.
It hasn't experienced any instability issues (yet) so I'm keeping it off until the microcode update reaches laptops
If it happens after the update I will contact Lenovo
quick question is anyone here familiar with OBS (or rather video recording in general I guess)
I see, so I record at 1920x1200@60FPS and since I dont really care too much about video quality what would be the ideal settings to use to keep file size on the lower end
I had a 13 second video take like ~80mb and while I know next to nothing about encoding i'm not entirely sure its supposed to take that much space
lower recording framerate/resolution honestly
it's the same reason a large high-res .png image would take up more space than a low-res .bmp
but I don't want it to get too low quality because I am teaching myself how to edit videos
ideally there should be a utility you can run a video file through to reduce the resolution/framerate without too much loss, but i havent fucked about with recording in uh... i dont know how many years

unless it's visually cluttered, i dont see why having the recording quality be 720p shouldnt be fine

my canvas is set to 1440p but the output is 1080p when I'm streaming
and that's usually also when I'm recording
i mean, most people i watch streams of on youtube arent going to be recording/upload max res/fps videos because it's going to play hell
they might be playing the games on those settings, but certainly not recording. but overall it just depends on what your end result is for wanting to record videos
ya and youre going to be streaming and recording at different settings depending on the game.
it's an option to record at high quality and then run it through something like handbrake
tbh im only recoding short minute clips to show people things on discord
pretty sure handbrake is still relevant
is handbrake a better encoder than obs ?
that makes me think actually on the note of recording does 30 vs 60 fps make a noticeable difference in the smoothness of the video ?
honestly? i think it would depend on the content of the recording and resolution
oh yeah that worked
yeah depends what you want it for
just go all out and watch your drives fill up
seems like H265 reduces file size by quite a bit
though I guess I shouldve checked whether or not discord supports that
looks like I can upload the video though so im going to assume it does
h265 is very efficient compression but it can be fussy about playback on some devices/apps
just don't do what I did
last time I'm recording at anything other than 1080p
it's also hell to edit, DaVinci is constantly loading video and it slows down the process so much
just get a terabyte's worth of RAM in your pc
that is not the issue!
sure it is, just load the entire video up in RAM instead of a weak ssd
just buy a raid array
I have amd ryzen master up. Is 75 Degrees C a normal/safe temp?
Its betwen 55 to 70 or so depending on if im playing xiv
I do have like. A dozen chrome tabs up too
Along with discord of course
@deep sapphire @potent arrow hmmm, I wonder if these two dark spots in a brand new cars headlights are for bypassing the regulatory and safety tests that keep headlights from being overly blinding hmmmmm surely not
yes
thats literally how they get away with it
its just two spots during tests in the US that they can dim the headlights in and just get a free pass on headlights that are BRIGHTER than the laser headlights they banned years ago lmfao
its so stupid
I don’t think that’s what that’s for, it’s probably so they can level them properly and have a guide
I mean wouldn’t a normal person see this???
No cause it magically disappears on actual production cars
That’s a pre production car
I mean that’s literally what dieselgate was about was it not
Then you need to report them to NHTSA
The NHTSA knows, that’s what the deal is about
The NHTSA is full aware there is cheater settings for headlights but they also can’t anything cause it sounds like the testing they use is standardized and can’t be changed
I thought they changed the ruling in 2020
Like, for example, Dieselgate for VW was a huge deal cause VW lied about it, but Cummins has done the same thing but told the government lol
So they just pay the 2 billion dollar fine and don’t get sued
It was part of a few lawsuits but they just said “yea” to everything
Idk, I just know that this is just a thing cause the NHSTA can’t do much
Lmao this is so true!
But yea
The Audi R8 with the laser headlights got banned from sale in the US when the R8 first came out but now those headlights aren’t as bright as standard high beams on new cars, and low beams are very close to the bright setting of laser headlights
I’m so tired of white LEDs they’re not good for you at all and are even linked to cancer why tf do we use them
What good is brighter headlights if I can’t see a fuckin thing period from oncoming traffic
Idk if you’ve seen the laser headlights but those are the ones that are a panel of very high out out LED’s iirc and they can actually turn off segments, so say a car is coming head on, it turns off all the light cells facing the car
So you can watch as the lights “walk”
No auto low beam needed
That’s what I am confused about NHTSA approved those back in like 2020 or fairly recently
Oh did they
I could have sworn they did
Back when the R8 came out they super hard banned it
And a lot of Mercedes/Audis had them in Europe but not in the US
its kind of funny tho cause the Audi with the adaptive headlights was a limited model
the first year one
Audi R8 LMX?
only 99 were produced
I think its cause it was the first gen car that was just out going, and the second gen car had it as a fairly cheap option you could tick
ah ok Audi calls it Matrix now
its the lights you see on the new cars that people tune so you can have funny ahh videos playing on a wall in front of your car
its a cool system that should have been allowed from the start cause it probably would have made it so nobody wanted to have stupidly bright lights all the time and instead wanted the cool lights that could turn themselves on and off
especially the newest version of it, it can turn certain cells into highbeam output
so when you are lane changing, only the cells facing at the ground to the sides turn to high beam to see the road better and see any debris in the lane you are changing too
could play doom on these headlights fr
oh apparently no, a lot of new cars DO have the dark spots in the production headlamp now lol
thank you funny man Jason Cammisa
for talking about playing dumb in front of car company engineers who admit it
If you've noticed that headlights are blinding, you should know it's because automakers are cheating on lighting standards, just as they've cheated about emissions and safety. Jason calls it Lighting-Gate!

they have a new guy for the podcast that actually does editing so there are funny pictures and clips in the podcasts now lmao
even when lighting tech is approved for use in the US (see auto-leveling headlights) it tends to not get adapted for the US market cars because it's cheaper to not use it 😄
think about how many brands don't sell cars with amber rear turn signals in the US
(including Audi)
auto leveling was a thing as soon as xenons were allowed
hehe there's still lots of cars that are sold with it elsewhere, but not in the US
lenovo released a security update (bios/IME) a couple days ago so might be worth updating until then
I can't see any way the microcode update isn't a perf downgrade, so I won't bother since I haven't had any crashes or bluescreens
but like that's the point of the update...to prevent degradation and stop current degradation....why wait for the damage to be done before doing anything about it
...Because it only affected like 25% of all CPUs and I've had literally no instability issues the entire 2 years I've used the CPU?
The Via oxidation was also only an issue for a portion of the early CPUs if you believe them
lmao I just don't like taking the chance personally, I hate downtime and if there's anything to ease my mind I would do it
I'm planning to upgrade in another 1-2 years so I'm not that worried. I'll just flip it to my niece and nephew again or maybe use it as a homelab
And by flip I mean I pretty much give the hardware aware to them
he decided to keep it now after enough tweaking :d
https://i.imgur.com/uVSok2G.png
glad for him lol
okie dokie
if i had a 13/14900k i'd take it and get an evga board and oc the shit out of it
I was tenatively interested in the 15th gen, but if it's a shitshow, I could lean towards the 9800X3D or w/e possibly
Don't plan to upgrade my 3080 until 60 series though
I do vaguely want an HDR capable monitor at least. I bought a 240hz IPS panel when they first came out, so now the new hotness is being able to do that but in HDR
Friend just bought an OLED display and it's tempting
Though realistically I could use a 2nd chair for my work PC instead of moving my one computer chair between both rooms everyday.
sometimes I still think about trading this in for a nice apple 27" lol 😄
