yea
they probably use 6 piston brembos im guessing
"well these dorman 2 pistons are only 60 bucks can you put those on"
lmao
brembos are great, just expensive yeah
when I swap my brakes im gonna upgrade to an aftermarket kit cause I know the brand is good from experience and its like 400 dollars cheaper than OEM so
thats just the cost you have to pay if you want performance shit
finely machined slotted brake rotors, 6 piston brake calipers and probably some crazy brake pads yeah
shit aint gonna be cheap
plus your tires go to mush after 20,000 miles
the E46 M3 just has really weird sizing so its just cheaper to get a power stop kit for 550 for full front and rear instead of paying 350 for one axle
and lets be real the average hellcat owner which they were approved for at the age of 22 probably doesnt care about spending the money to keep those in spec
550 is cheap
plus you get drilled and slotted rotors for 550
which is pog
when I get to that point im probably just gonna buy rebuild kits for the brakes and pull them apart and have them zinced
get crazy yellow zinc so they look cool for the 3 months they will be shiny yellow
true
same with audi and bmw buyers
if you actually dig for parts you can get stuff for cheap
ECS tuning is surprisingly very reasonable for parts
probably cause of the volume they do
brakes is one of those things nobody cares about and its like
well thats what is gonna kill you lmao
stop cheaping out on safety people
yep
even in my old shitbox I put heavy duty brakes on and upgraded the terrible factory master cylinder with the newer GMT800 one
turner motorsport has a kit for my car that is Bilstein B12's and Eibach springs for 1k which the individual struts and springs cost 1600 by themselves
and it saved my ass cause 3 weeks ago someone slammed on their brakes on the highway and I was able to stop in time
even with no ABS
B12's are the most aggressive road dampers they make

real
bilsteins are always the best way to go if you got the money
nobody makes a better shock
my ABS hasnt kicked on once even under super hard braking, like you have to be basically breaking the brake pedal for it to kick on cause it has stability control which is very aggressive
BMW M Dynamic Stability Control which was the same shit they used in the actual race cars at the time, E46 based
https://qa1.net/ these guys out of minnesota make some really good shocks for older vehicles but pretty expensive
Suspension kits, coilovers, shocks, driveshafts, and more. QA1 offers high-quality performance parts for circle track racing, drag racing, classic muscle cars, trucks, and industrial applications.
I mean
you can get a kit from them for a Cuda that makes it drive like a brand new AMG
which is awesome
yeah
im surprised nobody has attempted to make an aftermarket kit/controller for magneride
probably cause its not worth it
magnetic dampers for a classic car would be pretty sick
Aftermarket :
Tesla Model 3 (AWD,RWD)
Tesla Model y (AWD,RWD)
GWM TANK 300
Mercedes Benz W447 V class & Vito
In the aftermarket, Cosmarto[20] is the only supplier of intelligent suspension systems with a complete MRF+MRD+ECU+SW technology chain, and produces a small number of models, supported by several professors.
Cosmarto is also becoming well known in the global tuning market, especially for its Tesla Model 3/Y comfort and handling, and its sales representative, N2003 Auto Parts, has gained a good reputation for its good service attitude.
oh there is an aftermarket solution
probably stupid expensive
I swear everyone over the age of like 35 who’s into cars that I know wants one
Imagine having abs
True who needs it
It is funny a bit when I drive other peoples cars and they have a lot of safety features
Meanwhile the fancy thing in my car is cruise control
Back up camera do sound nice though
you can buy aftermarket head units with them but you gotta wire it yourself obviously
why
forged in titanium with a steel head
but y
yes nice and light
plus less mass to do the hammering thing
its a finishing hammer
its not meant for hard striking
for that you would use a deadblow anyway
then get brass hammer
yea it's funny how with those cars, literally the same car, entirely different brakes, suspension.. well pretty much everything except the body and the dashboard is entirely different from the lowest to the highest model lol
So anyone who uses a Wacom- how do you get your nibs to last longer?
tf
chatgpt on nvidia overlay, whilst having microsoft copilot chatgpt
every app needs their own chatgpt client now
Depend on your model and your preference
Some third party nibs may be more durable (i.e metal nibs, only use WITH surface protected film)
If you have a screen tablet and don't mind the slippery, just yoink the screen protector film out, better color and nib will never wear down (down side is absolutely no ring no bracelet in avoid screen scratching, as glass should withstand plastic well, not metals)
I do not need this
I don't need any of your AI garbo, corps
piss off
The thing is
IT SPOILS THE GAME
LIKE BRO GIMME BY ABILITY TO HAVE MY ASS KICKED LIKE IN FROMSOFT GAMES
UPDATE: dCS' has issued an update and apology, which can be read here: https://dcs.community/t/goldensound-headphones-com-dcs-an-update/6740
GoldenSound discusses the legal threats received from DAC manufacturer dCS over his review of the dCS Bartok.
Special thanks to Amir Majidimehr from AudioScienceReview and Jussi Laako from Signalyst for t...
Fuck that
gaaaaaaahhh!!!!!!!
I've been using windows again on my pc the last week or two because an update broke linux in a way and combined with my stupid samsung monitor i can't see what the fuck is going on XD
and uhhhh
I HATE THIS AND NEED TO GO BACK lol
maybe i can get a small screen to fit under my big one
also finger sliding on my guitar doesn't feel right
GoldenSound discusses the legal threats received from DAC manufacturer dCS over his review of the dCS Bartok.
Of course, it has to be an audiophile piece of equipment lmao

I can't even find a dealer that names a price, but they go used/mint for $8000+
FOR A DAC
yhea no shit this is bored rich people with good lawyer territory
I use a Wacom Intuos. And it's currently being tasked in an unconventional manner- as a substitute touch screen for a Nintendo DS emulator. But I'm finding that Trauma Center is destroying my nibs.
i hesitate to buy another monitor though. I already have... a lot of monitors
if i could turn my surface pro into a monitor it'd be perfect
that is friggin adorable
Microsoft has released a recovery tool to help IT admins repair Windows machines hit by CrowdStrike's botched update. The USB tool does all the work, speeding up the manual recovery steps. Full details below 👇 https://t.co/0HwUkJWhJY
yes you do! the corporations know better than you /s
the corporations can eat my ass
How often should thermal paste on cpus be replaced
i changed mine after 6 year of using my pc
but like waffle said when you see that you are having thermals problem change it
280SE slammed. This one is mint so it’s probably worth 130~160 range
It has the original paint

So are the eSports people about to start banning Razer peripherals?
that sounds kinda broken
I FOUND THIS BLACK MAGIC FIX
https://www.reddit.com/r/wacom/s/LOGJ92r6yr
For the intuos pro I think you can also change the surface to a softer one
I just heard the news of Samsung Fold6 release
Me look at le features: EZ SKIP
Ngl if you have Fold5 or not like AI schizzo, ez skip
Have they even fixed the bad glass creasing on the fold yet
As far as I was aware it still happened too quickly
Upgrading every gen is stupid for phones
There’s a difference between each generation but usually unless ur 2 or more behind then it’s not worth the upgrade
Fold5 not yet
Drawing experience on fold5 is eh
Itz ok not too bad but better not draw on the crease
i always found them cool but the creasing means id never buy one
is it covered under a multiple year warranty or anything
phone market rn for me is just in general super disappointing
I'll see when iphone gets a stylus I may consider switch
choices are mediocre
iphones are the only ones with the premium camera on the 6.1" phone
the android options all require the 7" phone for the high end camera
Oh I got my 1TB fold5 for 250GB price in last black friday HEHEH
I'm ok w eh camera as far as there is stylus
Me handwriting note a lot
And I just hate Apple Pencil and ipad is sometime a bit too big for my liking
and can only deal with the standard phone size
so apple still my go to
my favourite phone would be the pixel 8 pro if it was smaller
but it isnt
My note10+ is still stonk, hyper power saving can last me for days
lol
i mean the camera on the 14 pro/s23u/pixel 7 pro is insane
so i wanted one of those
and apple certified refurbished is a good deal
But ye I don't like too big screen, but I do like some screen estate for handwriting tho
google and samsung dont rly do that
It IS always a good idea
i just cant use it one handed and the modern ones are too heavy
yeah £800 instead of £1050 or whatever
The fold is like wat 250g
Not count the case
And my fold5 + case + accessories would hit 300+g
But from last gen/current gen to next gen, I don't see any point for it atm
out of what i can afford brand new the 14 pro had the best camera
so went with it
cant afford a s24 or pixel 8 anyway
Ye.....
also the exynos
BRUH
Luckily my phones are all snapdragon so at least still ok battery
Like, I don't want too huge phone if they not have stylus
Tfw am considering getting a smol iphone just for vtubing and some light footage taking LOL
Not like my android couldn't tho
the other reasons are GarageBand and parental control LMAO
NICHE MARKET DETECTED
U know wat
Smol phone, decent camera, gud shite DAC for audiophile
I want that
Me baby hand, but then again I use stylus a lot so a bit hard to argue w anything smaller than 7"
yeah
i want good camera with a decent battery in a size i can use one handed
also somehow even google with arguably the least bloated version of android manages to get terrible battery life
have to hand it to iOS for being efficient mostly
what i do not like is having like 0 file management in 2024
Another reason why I don't go to apple's stuff
Their file management SUCC
yeahh
but like apple having better battery life with a significantly smaller battery is always funny
I mean android has their share of sucky but hey they let you to copy your stuff to PC with ease
and better performance with half the ram
Ngl if compared to my fold5 usage on my note10+, it drains p fast but then again I listened a hella lot vchuba streams/vods
lol
my iphone X gets between 1.5 and 4 hours of screen on time depending on what i do
mostly used at 50% brightness
I use somewhat between 0 to 100%, mostly at uh, 20-40%??
yeah new phones ill sit at 50% all the time
dont need 1200 nits my phone maxes out at like 800 lol
i can have same experience at like 80% on a new phone
The sun begs differ
But ye I don't have need for 100% bright at all unless going outside in noon
oh yeah i mean ill appreciate the 2000 nits outside
but i also live in england so thats like 2 weeks of the year
SEA here, it's like Hell's Lid during summer
yeah its pretty bad in summer these days here
i heard the fold 6 still has the same cameras as the fold 4 o_O
I mean I don’t expect it from the fold atl bc it’s a different use case
But like the s24 doesn’t have a great camera compared to the s24u
Even the plus doesn’t have the best camera which is a bigger one
Please SOMEONE make a smaller phone
The fact apple is my only actual option is insane
hola
I came here to see if the tech support could help me with the benchmark
since figured out that i could get a better help here probably
what kind of help do you need?
hmmm, I think the word im trying to say is... optimizing, to see if there's a way to make the make run smoothly when i really get to dawntrail and back to ffxiv
what hardware do you have?
I'm not sure that even meets minimum requirements now
nope, you'll be lucky if it runs at all
hmmm, I knew the light not working properly wasn't a good sign : (
And I had good hopes with apex actually running smoothly in here too
guess i'll have to get another one if i want to play the game then
like, you can try it on minimum specs, but I wouldn't expect much
vega's better than an rx480
kyanche thinks your hardware meets minimum specs, give it a try
Ok, I did it, here's my score in High Settings:
There was a bit lag, and just some lighting stuff as I said
try medium
ok I think the reason the latest fedora 40 broke my pc is... the nvidia driver... it just has to be lol
what else is gonna cause a black screen at boot?
Yep, it changed nicely!
There was just some small lag in the more flashy parts but now the lighting problem was gone
yea it's like
rx 7/65xx+ > rx 5600/5700 > radeon 7 > vega 64 > vega 56 > rx480/580
the rx480 was a $200 budget card that came out in 2017 lol
to be fair, that screenshot looks awful
Oh, its because of the standard graphics really looks like that lol
Yeah, when I have the chance
But for now i don't know if it is necessary since the only game showing this sort of issue is ffxiv
mostly cuz I don't have lots of games that have high resolution or high graphics : P
yeah, ffxiv is not even close to being a Elden Ring for sure XD
so yeah, for now it is fine
true, true
yay fixed linux, just needed to update myu stupid nvidia driver and then it booted fine again
woot
Linux didn't boot because of a bad driver?
sounds familiar doesn't it? XD
in this case I believe it DID in fact boot, I never tried sshing into it lol
but the driver was hosed so all I saw was a black screen
I need help
With PC build
My Custom Build V5 - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, KOLINK Observatory HF Glass ARGB ATX Mid Tower
I found out that the RAM I got is for Intel
And I have an AMD card
i'm surprised PC part picker didnt throw up an error
@lethal dune Yea, the case you can take ur time tbh
its not TOO big an issue
My friends said that the RAM is fine
another thing to take note
is that ur using a microatx
mobo
and an ATX case
unless ur plan is to use a microatx case
in which case, ur GPU might be a cause of headache
im not knocking on microatx mobos
but having built a microatx in an ATX case before
it DOES look empty
which annoys me
but im an idiot that way
I was thinking like
Buying a PC case where I cannot see it
I ummm
Sensitive to lights

I might ask Mr store man when I go and get my mobo
and u gotta make sure u have case fans too
as in, the case COMES with case fans
and how many
sometimes they give just one
which i nearly fell for
fucking slapped that bitch
Theres also the matter of usage
gaming
3d
video editing
4070 is good either way
but, for example, since I like to do 3D rendering as a hobby
i got a 3090
I was thinking of getting 4070 super cause I heard good things from it
And is the best one so far
Well it's ok card though
Ngl I would get the Ti if I could but can depend on your wallet
Just get a 4090
for hobby 3d rendering, 3xxx is nice
well, $
Lets me render 3D nicely
And i can smack large scenes nicely
But i DO wish i could have afforded a 4090
But...
Ya know
I mean also the price as well
Yea. That.
at least the 3xxx is still cheaper if you don't need too much bell and whistle
And if u pick up a few from exmining rigs
Its not hard to setup render farms
I wont, cuz
Ya know
yeah that infamous connector
nyeh
I'll take that as a yes
me $ for simping
Oy HYTE vtuber collab cases are nice
It is...
That's valid. I just roll my eyes when I see a setup where they stuff the pc in a dark room and run their monitor at 100% brightness
the 60 lineup is gud
And apparently HYTE has at least a few Vtuber simps in their corpo which is based
I plan to get a HYTE system for streaming (w11) while my main is linux gaming and stuff
Ngl I don't understand why lol unless color correcting
color correcting in a dark room doesn't make much sense either
hnng fedora 40 feels so much faster than win11 on my machine
it's fine somewhat
it's kinda funny because this is a 7800x3d with 64gb ram
always has been
and win11 is on a pcie4 ssd while fedora is on a pcie3 ssd
mine are on all pcie3 iirc? Intel mobile 12th or 13th I think, 40GB DDR4 memory
still fedora much faster
About to return my RAM in a few days
Because I was lied about the package

I thought it was for AMD
It was for intel
… ram is ram
It’s a Corsair RAM
it’s not “for” anything
… and?
ram doesn’t care about what cpu you’re using
different cpu doesn’t change the ram slot
This isn't a problem if you're talking about XMP vs EXPO
all this means is that they got money from intel
yeeeup
you can safely use and overclock xmp ram on an amd machine, and use/overclock expo ram on an intel machine.
idk if the pre-cooked profiles will show up in the uefi settings though
-shrug-
like if it doesn't cost anything to switch, go right ahead. but if you get a better deal on one vs the other
In nutshell, memory/ ram doesn't care much about cpu at all for basic stuff
Afaik neither company will cover u if it breaks something anyway bc it’s still just considered OC to them
So it doesn’t even matter if it’s branded for the ‘right’ cpu
Tfw I have 40GB memory and still work fine
I had my first 32gb Corsair kit just stop working within 4 weeks for ddr5
I don’t even bother touching ram or cpu on am5 anyway
Enable PBO and forget about it
UV if anything
Aight, that bad? I'm still on DDR4
cheaper btw
I just don’t trust Corsair ram for ddr4 or 5
Anecdotally it’s the one I’ve had way too many issues with
As have people I know
7700x doesn’t run with ddr4 unfortunately
low height ram man
yeah ofc, DDR4 stops at 5xxx of AMD
SFF build has limited choice of ram if want short height ram tho
Which is in line with the price of current gen CPUs using it
Yeah I wish I had low profile ram as well bc it’s in the way of my cpu cooler
eh mostly I just don't want more e-waste
planning in converting my stuff to either NAS or minecraft machine for my cousins
Should I get DDR5 or wait for DDR6?
DDR6 is close so if u don’t need to upgrade soon I’d just wait bc worst case ddr5 will be cheaper even if ddr6 is too expensive
yeah I don't really need to upgrade right now, even OG LCD steam deck is plenty
DDR6 is coming much faster than DDR5 did
It’s a few years sooner
It’s like ddr4 is still viable now tho so anyone with a ddr5 build shouldn’t rly care
Unless u have a lot of money and need it for work to stay at top performance
But that’s 1% of people
oh no I'm good for years with this rig
ddr6 is planned for 2026
I'm ok with my current setup, even my DDR4 laptop is hella plenty
I don't think I'll need to consider upgrading until like 2028 or so, depending on how tech advances in the next few years
what kinda speeds are we looking at with DDR6?
or bug fix peep
initially planned to start with 8800-12800 with room to grow
ngl I'm not that hype for DDR6 but kinda interesting in Intel ARC
DDR5 will probably get stable at faster speeds on the CPUs coming out rn as well
Hopefully
Bc there’s already kits well above 6000 and some CPUs u can OC well on way above that
damn that's a big step
highest possible is allegedly 21000
but lets see how it will be in reality. its still far from done yet
21000
if they can pull that one off the gens of CPUs that support DDR6 are going to be insane
I hope they won't also be insanely unstable
it likely will be
if you didn't return it, you can rma it
corsair will replace it
I had xmp ram die on me before and they replaced it
(that implies, yes, I did use the xmp settings and oc it)
corsair replaced a 4.5 year old AIO cooler for me too, when I complained that a few of the RGB LEDs were burned out and it wasn't displaying colors correctly anymore
admittedly they made me pay for shipping to FRIGGIN GEORGIA from california on that one >< it cost like $35 iirc 😦
it was worth it i guess, they gave me a new unit to replace the old one
I didn’t bother bc I was in a rush to just have it working as I got rid of my other laptop I could’ve used at the time
So I just replaced it and got on with what I had to do at the time
I am an exceptionally stupid boi who doesn't know how to compile shit
Is there anyone who does programming, mind helping me compile a github zip
Never mind
oh man
a colleague linked me to a Twitter thread explaining what went wrong with the CrowdStrike update
basically it was a null pointer caused by the driver trying to read a memory address that Windows has strict access control on
I thought the thread was a bit weird and the writer kind of up his own ass
but I didn't think a whole lot of it until I got to the tweet that started off with "If you are looking for conspiracy theories..."
and then went into how the replacement language for C++ is Rust, and it is compromised by woke
is the whole thread nonsense?
honestly with how up his own ass this guy is, it wouldn't surprise me
full os mistakes and assumptions that others pointed out but the OP is basically "im right because i am a professional"
here is an example of one of the many people who pointed out whats wrong with this guys analysis
https://x.com/taviso/status/1814762302337654829
oh boy
did it mention a certain Malaysian
no
lmao because I found another thread that brought him up
conspiracy Twitter in full power on this one huh
its just so tiring
https://x.com/kitten_beloved/status/1814461894901805283 this is the thread
Hi, professional c++ programmer here, this is an arcane error known as a null pointer exception understood only by myself and six other experts
Malaysian guy jumps in "do you think DEI caused the null pointer exception"
Never leaving this site
No, he replied to the screenshotted tweet Rob linked
that's your job
my job is to remind everyone that the Netherlands exist
Size
And sometimes the smaller one will have like one less m.2 slot or something bc of size
Otherwise not much
or less pcie slots etc, which isnt a problem anyway unless you specifically need one extra outside of gpu
SLI 4090
Maaaan
I wish SLI was still a thing cuz people would spend big bucks and it'll still be jank
4090 doesn’t support nvlink
does SLI even still exist
We had nvlink last gen
and just like that i stumble upon some korean tech channel that slapped 4x 4090 with a 5995WX in one case
#deeplearning #gpu #server #workstation
CPU: AMD RYZEN THREADRIPPER Pro 5995WX
M/B: ASUS WS WRX80E SAGE SE WIFI
RAM: SAMSUNG DDR4-3200 ECC/REG 128GB (32Gx4)
SSD: SAMSUNG PM9A1 M.2 NVNe 512GB
VGA: INNO3D NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 D6X 24GB (4EA)
CASE: Phanteks ENTHOO PRO 2 TG
POWER: SuperFlower SF-2000F14HP LEADEX PLATUNUM (2EA)
COOLER: 3RSYS PF-12...
that right there is enough money to pay off my remaining student loan and build me an entire new rig
REAL
holy shit
it is my dream to one day build something like that
even though there is no practical use case for it
honestly, all this watercooling and cablemanagement sounds like a huge pain to me
except for maybe if you want to render a Pixar movie at 1 frame per second
yeah cable management is a pain
and I am not good at it
my biggest mistake with my current rig was to not buy a PSU that had a direct 12VHPWR connector
just an oopsie-woopsie on my part there
when I say "I want to build something like this" I mainly mean the aesthetic aspect of it
if a game like PC Builder Simulator let you build something like this
I feel bad for anyone running a 13th or 14th gen Intel CPU right now.
Yeah
id love to build a super minimalistic and sleek SFF build for that purpose
An i5-13600K(F) and above is not fine, locked multiplier 13th gen i5s and below are fine (because rebranded Alder Lake), Alder Lake is completely fine, Raptor Lake Refresh is not fine (even the i3s and i5s)
that's the the tl;dr for Raptor Lake
Yeah I'm considering making a more in-depth pinned post on Raptor Lake
do it
I would just wait for Intel's statement and official coverage
at least beyond, don't buy 13th/14th
Yeah
I wouldn't buy 13/14th anything tbh, even stuff below the i5 just because it's probably gonna have issues down the line many years in the second hand market lmfao
I don't trust it
Same
I can't comfortably recommend Raptor Lake chips, nor do I have optimism for any sort of long-term fix
there is no optimism
it has to be a physical flaw
I doubht anything beyond RMA will fix this garbage
Zen 5 coming up in nine days is also bad for Intel
my worry is that next Gen Intel is going to have the same issue
god if Arrow Lake shits the bed
you don't just spin up a new chip design in a day, idk how long they knew this was an issue
so if it's a manufacturing defect lmao.
from an integrator standpoint you can't convince me to buy Arrow lake out of the bat
I'll wait a year or so before I do
and I won't be alone on this
so Intel is probably going to lose a good chunk of early adopters to this
When does Arrow Lake arrive? October?
~~idk if you don't want downtime due to instability maybe save a lil money ~~
this is the CPU in my machine right now
time for that 7800x3d sidegrade
I meant save money for a new cpu and motherboard
the only way I've really experienced CPU problems so far are with the sound buffer stuff when capturing app-specific audio
and I was able to mitigate that by routing audio to two separate DACs to split it across separate tracks without having to capture app-specific audio
you mean by migrating it off your cpu?
ye
my decision to build 12th gen i7 3 months before 13th gen came out has never looked better
lmao that was a bullet dodged
I hope I can recommend Intel after Arrow Lake launches but for now my answer is gonna be a hard no
Both the product and pricing needs to improve
Hopefully at a minimum the product improves with next gen
Pricing is probably the least of their worries right now
It’s still a negative reason I wouldn’t recommend it
Mostly the lower end CPUs are priced pretty badly
Especially compared to AMD
If I were to recommend Intel, they'd be Alder Lake chips or the buyer is my worst enemy
The only one I’ve recommended recently is the 12400f or 12600kf in the US when on sale lol
cmon it's only a 10-25% chance /s
I guess the next question is: Will the supposed corrosion issues be present in the 15th gen chips they've been making preparing for the fall?
Or is it only an issue bc they were ekeing out every last drop from the monolithic arch before they were ready for the switch at 15th gen? Kinda like how they were stuck on 14nm for 8 years or w/e due to the issues with 10nm
if it's going to be through TSMC for first batch no
if manufacturing returns in house all bets are off
Im really hoping that we wont have memes in 15th gen
a tempting purchase
this car is beautiful, 2000s UK car culture unmatched
no one puts playstations in their cars these days
mood
So this is just any 13-14 gen ?
I have a the i7 13700k but have had zero issues since I got last last year I think
13600 and up yes
I have a 13700K that has the problem
Ffs got damn
I got it in September. So it's a high chance or.luck of the draw really?
If you have no issues I wouldn’t worry about it yet
Nobody knows exactly what’s going on
Yeah I'm not trying to fear monger or anything
just be aware there is a weird looming problem with these two gens
why tf does windows clock have a SIGN IN for a goddamn clock.
and the login expires, so you have to enter your microsoft password to login
basically this pops up immidiately if the login expires
It’s selling like a few miles from me lol
It’s well over what I’d pay for it now tho
Richard Hammond sat in it and from a decen sized car YT channel so
It’s gonna sell for too much
heheh
So I have this really bad ghosting/grainy look effect when I move the camera in ffxiv with my new montior? I'm not sure how to fix it. It's totally fine in my other montior.
Intel finally said something... https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/July-2024-Update-on-Instability-Reports-on-Intel-Core-13th-and/m-p/1617113#M74792

now we need to know if the voltage caused permanent damage because I have no doubts it did
whats the refresh rate set at
I had it set to 60. Tried the 59.number and it didnt fix it
Tried taking a screenshot but. Doesn't capture the blur and whatnot
whats the highest refresh rate you can select
was it that spectre monitor you listed a few days ago?
correct
I thought that was much higher like 144hz
you should have it set to the highest available option
It would be out of sync with my other montior. Wouldn't that be an issue?
only if you were playing with surround, it shouldnt matter otherwise
I use to have a 60hz monitor and 144hz monitor attached to my PC and never had an issue
can you post the monitor you bought again
Updated. Fixed the ghosting issue
The colors dont match between each monitor though
monitors use different panel technologies that can display colors differently, either that or you have the color bit rate set differently
where it shows output color bit rate
unless its really bad I wouldnt worry about it
it should by default select 8-10 bit which is more than high enough
Kinda hard to tell with the photos but.
thats simply just how each monitor displays colors differently
(I used an AMD graphics card.)
the one on the right has a higher RGB value
you can adjust it in your graphics card software
I dunno what AMD calls it now, im so use to calling it catalyst lol
I assume that's Adrenalin?
yeah that
God that's so weird having a 244hz monitor
you should see similar settings
It's almost too smooth.
Thank you Hank 🙏
np
You're a blessing ❤️
Holy shit we can finally close this chapter for now at least
Turns out I prefer cooler temperatures on my lights. Neat
Most displays will have a built in menu where you can adjust color temperature as well, some will even have a mode to reduce eye strain using warmer hue
It’s beneficial to use that at night before bed they’ve shown white/blue light really messes with your sleep quality
Yeah using night mode on my phone was a good decision I made somewhat recently lol
I think most people use their phone closer to the time they sleep than their monitor
yeah I've been using Night Shift (thats what iOS calls it) before bed and I have noticed a big difference
Yeah I have it come on at 10pm now bc don’t have to sleep as early
Before I had it for 9
So I got atl an hour of it before sleeping
It definitely made a difference
LMAO
Okay I have a question how the fuck do you get VSR to work on non web content I’m getting sick of this shit VLC doesn’t work, MPC only works with HDR

ugh but taking aparta gpu to swap out thermal paste is a pain
I have my blue light filter to go on at 9 pm
wasn't the blue light thing disproven
Somewhat ye
But night light mode does make the eyes more comfy
In this episode, we go for a very first drive in the high mileage Maserati Quattroporte GTS with a catastrophic ending.

the maserati refuses to be fixed lmao
does a whole engine out service with replacing half the engine, engine then decides to explode
https://youtu.be/jNZHoo2D_WI?si=yOjIQSY7bIEKdEGo oh cool an actual in depth video on the Valour
The new Aston Martin Valour is a 715bhp, V12 monster, which is manual only and costs £1.5M. They're only making 110 examples but is this the greatest driver's Aston of them all?

tl;dr learn to disassemble your card and replace the thermal paste
but yeah it’s pain
I wonder if a 392 would fit under the hood
a used 392 would probably cost more than the car is worth LMAO
so are used maseratis especially with broken engines
it's a use case where you want a fancier/more unique car than a 300c/charger but don't wanna deal with a maserati engine
compared to the skinny one in that Maserati
then again
thats still a ferrari era Maserati engine
so its based off of an actual lightweight V8
it'd be easier/cheaper to just buy something else that doesn't require an engine swap, like a used 7 series with a b58
yea but wheres the fun in that
Thermal paste should last the life of the GPU
having it degrade after 2 years is pathetic
a hemi swap might actually just bolt right in
My 1070 lasted me 7 years and I never once had to repaste it
no
afaik Maserati actually uses the engines as stressed members
where as I can count on one hand how many US designed cars have done that and they start with Saleen and Hennessey
so the engine sits on plastic pucks isolated but still taking the stress of the chassis flexing, rather than the engine being giving a lot of leeway in its movement
392's flex the hell out of their motor mounts
ahh ok XD
most of Maserati's design team was from Ferrari prior to their split
the Ferrari California was originally going to be a Maserati
then they split and so Ferrari had to make molds for aluminum body panels instead of steel ones for the Maserati design
its why the early Calfornias are ugly lmao
they had to make do with like 3 months worth of engineering time to make it work
Bret Hart doing some code review. He finds the source of the bug and calls them out on it. They are dereferencing a null pointer!
i am so confused man
i redid my wiring when i moved my desk around and since then i didnt have the issue anymore where my pc would just shut down by itself or not turn on.
since then i had my charger not work anymore at some random point though, however it worked on other outlets so i assumed one outlet of my power strip is broken.
but today again, pc wouldnt turn on.
so i was like "ok this surely means the PSU is dying", but at the same time, my mobo still gets power and has its RGBs on and everything that is connected to the PC gets power, including one of my charging cables... so maybe its the mobo after all?? or what kinda psu problem gives power to everything else but doesnt turn the PC on until i disconnect power from it and reconnect it
Uh wtf lol sounds like your mobo
wonder if its not grounded properly
or even worse its shorted to the case
definitely not shorting to the case
but i wouldnt be surprised if asus had some issue. this board has been nothing but a piece of shit so far anyway
i did contact the bequiet support now though, becuase in all honesty i am more likely to get help with my mobo even from them than from asus
Im almost certain its a grounding issue either way
or something ont he board is shorted
then why does it only appear every 4-6 businessmonths
primarily when the pc is turned off
well thats why I suspect grounding issues, it would have many different random things that can cause it to act up. Weather, static, capacitors charge state when its powered down etc
Maybe the board idle state is fucky too
Grounding is like, the wildcard of issues
Sounds like a Ground Fault to me IMHO. If you want to put some time into it, try unscrewing the mobo and pulling it up and make sure all the standoffs are firmly in place and the screw spots on the top of the mobo aren't scraped or something to where they could contact other layers of the board and cause a ground
Then make sure all the connectors are firmly connected to the board. If your PSU has one of those 20+4 split connectors, the +4 might be not down all the way, etc.
i did those things already
Or if it has one of those 110/230v switches, make sure it's firmly in the correct mode
I'd say borrow a PSU from a friend to test, but if it's as random as you say, it might not show up in a day of testing.
I had a PSU that the Caps started going on it, so I had a hard reset every once in a blue moon. Eventually 2 of them popped in spectacular fashion, and that was it for that PSU lol
Made 2 high-pitched whines followed by PYOOOOOOOOOOOoooo popping sounds back to back so yeah...
Had that PSU for like 8-10 years tho, so can't complain.
Which is ironic bc reading the reviews on them, they appeared to have a 50% failure rate in the first year. So I guess I got the golden sample
mine is 2 years old by now but i have a 10 year warranty on it so that shouldnt be an issue. i did contact the manufacturer already and asked them if they have encountered this issue before. maybe they will send me a new one to try
I had this magnificent chinesium beast. Tagan 700W from like 2008. Basically nothing else on the market had LEDs on the PSUs yet and very few case fans even.
oof
Unsurprisingly, they went out of business in like 2012 or so I think? lol
guess they were too early
On the LEDs? Not really. Hard to stay in business if you have a reputation for failing within 1-2 years is more likely
Haha wow, I didn't even realize they made cases and then sold the PSU with the case. Not a bad idea I suppose
In that period when 180-200-220mm fans were all the rage
Holy shit... is that like a 250mm even? That side fan is enormous...
Found the specs:
330mm side fan
turns to look at Intel
Oh please. It's like 10-15% can develop issues in a handful of the higher end skus, and also seems to be linked to using 700 series chipsets/DDR5. It's a big fuckup sure, but you can hardly say they have a widespread "reputation" for failure over many years.
That said, they better suck it up and offer people stress-tested replacements.
depends on if the failure continues into the 15th generation
Indeed. I have to imagine they have their asses puckered doing validation testing on their current samples
Big question mark on that since 15th gen is their first non-monolithic design. And is it a die shrink at the same time as well?
Based on extensive analysis of Intel Core 13th/14th Gen desktop processors returned to us due to instability issues, we have determined that elevated operating voltage is causing instability issues in some 13th/14th Gen desktop processors. Our analysis of returned processors confirms that the elevated operating voltage is stemming from a microcode algorithm resulting in incorrect voltage requests to the processor. Intel is delivering a microcode patch which addresses the root cause of exposure to elevated voltages. We are continuing validation to ensure that scenarios of instability reported to Intel regarding its Core 13th/14th Gen desktop processors are addressed. Intel is currently targeting mid-August for patch release to partners following full validation.
The article felt like astroturf, but we'll see eh
If the microcode patch causes reduced perf, that will still be a bit shit for those ppl
But taking them at face value, that it was "incorrect voltage requests" then theoretically it should have minimal impact
release a new CPU that is faster than anything but unstable, then patch it later which will cut performance but that's okay because you already got your money?
I'll need to try out the patch to see if it really affects me in a noticeable way
probably not tbh
I'm more surprised it was also happening in 13th gen bc while those were kinda hot, they ran fine. 14th gen was them basically taking mostly the same thing as 13th and trying to crank another 2-300mhz out of them to the point even 360mm AIOs are borderline for the 14900K
Reminds me of AMD's FX9950 was it? With the 230W TDP when the rest of their CPUs were half that
Was a last gasp with piledriver or sledgehammer or w/e
I enjoyed this excerpt of Steve Jobs' 1992 NeXTSTEP demo and thought it was worth sharing. See the full video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ekv7g1u6yNo

@deep sapphire the urge to buy this, straight pipe it and delete the waste gates on both turbos
It’s a S550 with every box ticked minus a fully custom interior
Non limo but not short wheel base
those modular psus were cool looking af
never touched one but i loved the use of circular connectors
the shitty molex ones suck
idk what it is about the molex but they have a tendency to cut my fingers

"no yeah"
This is gold
yea and no, I think a lot of places crowdstrike was being used were dumb places to use it X_X
But I also think crowdstrike's architecture sucks (armchair system engineer here) and I think their quality assurance AND deployment process was awful given the customers they were selling this to lmao
like wow
in mission critical software one of the reasons we do code reviews and have multiple people sign off on code, not that it's ever happened, is if you have a bad actor involved who decides to throw something malicious in, right?

Intel has finally published a statement about the instability of its Raptor Lake and Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs in the 13th & 14th Gen families of CPUs. The Intel 14900K, 13900K, and their alternative CPUs in the same generations now have a confirmed set of issues. Intel has...
fuck
actually fuck. lmfao
13/14th gen is kill
I don't do the team amd/team intel crap but
and it's funny because when I bought my 7800x3d I was joking around so hard about "I shoulda bought a 13900k but I decided to be dumb this time"
WTF INTEL lol
oh yeah for sure I don’t display any real brand loyalty towards one or the other, I just choose whichever’s best for my needs
brand loyalty is bullshit
idk about brand loyalty but I do sometimes exercise brand favoritism xD
which is pretty much the same thing
but i guess in a different way
brand favoritism when you buy a lot of that brand's crap because you like that crap :3
brand loyalty when you walk into a store and buy brand x because you always trust brand x to make something good
I guess if ppl still want to buy them it's best to go with Microcenter or some other PC shop that will do a stress test of the CPU for you to make sure it's worth buying.
Ok ngl I don't like samsung as a brand, but I still like any phone of em that with stylus
That's favoritism
The apple stuff is a mix of loyalty and favoritism tho
hehehe
I understand perfectly
apple should add 'pencil' support to the iphone pros >>
give me a reason to spend that kind amoney
to be fair, it's not as fun drawing on a phone-sized phone
i don't mind drawing on my fold4 when its unfolded though :3
The notetaking is hella helping tho
I do draw a lot on phone, just not as much as notetaking
Tfw apple misses a hella huge niche there
funny you should mention that
when I was in college i had a note 2, but getting a surface pro was like a huge change in note taking lol
at that point I had classes that were formula heavy though
would've loved to have that all along!
except the surface pro gen 1 battery life was AWFUL
anything less than like 4-5 hours on a portable is just awful
If not accounting weak ass hardware, unable to expand, weird pen, it works well
and I think i usually got 2 on a good day, 1.5 otherwise
but it was such a neat little machine to play with in 2013 lol
when apple was like THOU SHALT USE A TABLET WITH A SINGLE LIGHTNING PORT
Iirc surface lineup still has meh battery life tho
and the surface pro was just a regular ass windows laptop crammed into the general shape of an ipad lmao
SEE
the experience was so bad but it was so good
I ran code warrior on it and used it to program stuff in my embedded class rofl
mostly with a bluetooth keyboard ofc
That's so flip flop like Nomura Tetsuya
It's both so bad (battery and stuff) yet so good (le pen)
yea it was a very flawed product and that's why i loved it
the pen was nice, the performance was decent, and you could do anything with it that you could do with a computer
just awful battery life
honestly I still have a soft spot for that sorta mindset
There is still weird interaction w Windows Ink tho but eh should be fine I guess
like
Intel ARC arc when
me personally i'd never use a roku for my own TVs
it's probably always going to be a random old computer
cuz I can make it do anything i want it to
mmm maybe i should do a carputer in my jeep LOL
LOL do et
there's just a level of control and fuck-it when you do that hahahaha
I once put my rigs onto a shelf
Someone made a PC in a frickin toaster and even toilet
the real deal btw, can game
It is like brick + my case = real brick yesyes
holy brick batman
Third party case btw, when it opens the crease will fold at the back, creates a nice flat
i don't carry mine in a case at all lol
my 3 dailies: the fold4, the iphone 13, and an iphone 8 for work
work did send me an iphone 12 that I couldn't get activated
How le case works
one of these days i'll give enough fucks to go to el segundo and get their IT people to give me a token so I can use it
lal lalalla
Mine atm is fold5 note10+ and an a like android for work
LOL
why both a fold5 and a note10
company does give us choices of like, 2 year old iphones or new-ish low end samsungs
Got note10 for years, but only got fold5 recently, still in transitioning data but then I use note10 as well for some shenanigans as the account on le note10 isn't mine
Ngl 2 years old iphone is still good as new, should be a problem only like 3+ gens differents
Yeah I agree I got 4 years from my last one before I even considered an upgrade
I don’t think android flagships age as well except Samsung and maybe oneplus but still not as good
They may be better value at the price you buy them initially tho so there’s that
Kinda depend?
Like I don't see many having much much stronger hardware setup than Note10+but then the limited android edition does hammering the phone itself
Then again apple must calc support like 3 generations of devices each update while android is like, so many phones of diff brand already plus the jankiness between updates or w/e
I just don’t think the hardware will age as well on most phones as iPhones
Especially pixel phones
They’re an amazing deal new but the tensor processors are already only like 60% of the SD and bionic chips are
And the battery life is already mediocre at best
So I don’t see them lasting the 7 years Google promises updates for
That being said they’re probably the android phone I’d go for rn anyway lol they’re just so cheap initially
ah fuck yes my embody is coming tomorrow
Enjoy
I had to sit at home waiting for my phone all day yesterday lmao
I really should pay for a specific window for my deliveries
I'd give most android phone maximum usability of 5 years, include Samsung, 7 years if me be cheapo
My Note10+ iirc is ~4 years, I have an A8 (2018), barely usable but still ok if for light tasks
Like, my Note10+ is indeed showing its age a bit but for light/common task it's still just fine
My iPhone X did 6-7 years before it needed to go
It was 8 years this year and def not usable
My friends who get android flagships last like 4-5 before upgrading

friend wanna buy a 27 inch 1440p monitor for digital art making. Anyone recommends anything? :3
budget?
Microsoft warns that some Windows devices will boot into BitLocker recovery after installing the July 2024 security updates.
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-july-security-updates-send-pcs-into-bitlocker-recovery/
let's say $300
^
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s2721dgf personally like this one
problem about the dell is that the color accuracy is ass before you calibrate it
Not for art
Even then the g2724d is miles ahead and is basically a replacement
I have the s2721dgfa and contrast sucks and colours are poor unless u play with them in the menu
I’d look for an ASUS proart for digital art they’re on sale at the most reasonable price for that kind of thing normally
oh yeah that's probably better
Everyone else who has a good one has it for a lot more money usually

AMD has delayed the launch of its Ryzen 9000 CPUs ("Zen 5") to August 15th, with a possibility to ship slightly earlier, due to a non-specific inability to meet "quality expectations." The delay affects all four current models: The Ryzen 9 9950X, R9 9900X, R7 9700X, and R5...
UUUUH AMD BROS!? INTEL AND AMD BOTH HAVING SHIT PROCESSORS ITS OVER
oh no
honestly? just sue them tbh, they basically kneecapped the entire world for a few days because of bad quality control
Atl they delayed it and didn’t just give everyone issues ig
Intels next gen might not be terrible anyway
9950x is quite a lot better than the 14900k but I’d expect a similar uplift from Intel as well
If there isn’t that’s just disappointing
the thing I find ridiculous is they totally scapgoated the corrosion issue lmao "it was already fixed" okay? well whats the fuckin date range cause just saying "2023" is pretty vague
guess who bought an intel processor in 2023

Lmao
slaps roof of... uuuh car or something
I remember when intel sold processors that were well under their full capacity and were reliable as shit
guess they forgot about that
I can’t remember which laptop i7-6 I had
But was OCd to like 4.4GHz boost
Was funny and hot as hell
Good times
I dont think intel will ever achieve the lightning in the bottle like they did with sandybridge
the play is still gonna be “wait for X3D” though
the 2600K was legendary
yeah
a 3.0 Ghz processor able to achieve up to 4.7 GHz stable
thats just fuckin insane
1700 MHz OC stable
ikr
Back before Intel sucked
oh I just realized windows turned my desktop wallpaper black again even though I have a licensed copy of windows
how did I just notice that
I shouldve taken my ADHD meds
lol
honestly its not the first time intel pushed things a little too hard
they made a I think 1.13 GHz Pentium III
and they all fried themselves after a couple months
they had to do a recall lmao
A 1.13 GHz version (S-Spec SL4HH) was released in mid-2000 but famously recalled after a collaboration between HardOCP and Tom's Hardware[8] discovered various instabilities with the operation of the new CPU speed grade. The Coppermine core was unable to reliably reach the 1.13 GHz speed without various tweaks to the processor's microcode, effective cooling, higher voltage (1.75 V vs. 1.65 V), and specifically validated platforms.[8] Intel only officially supported the processor on its own VC820 i820-based motherboard, but even this motherboard displayed instability in the independent tests of the hardware review sites. In benchmarks that were stable, performance was shown to be sub-par, with the 1.13 GHz CPU equalling a 1.0 GHz model. Tom's Hardware attributed this performance deficit to relaxed tuning of the CPU and motherboard to improve stability.[9] Intel needed at least six months to resolve the problems using a new cD0 stepping and re-released 1.1 GHz and 1.13 GHz versions in 2001.
So whatever Intel did was still better than that
yeah, AMD always had stability problems even back when they were considered good
I had weird issues all the time on my Athlon 64 and X2
same with my Phenom II
I doubt it was the actual processor but their chipsets were hot garbage
nvidia wasnt much better
I dunno if you remember nForce
ah, yeah nvidia use to make chipsets for AMD and Intel
and then Intel kinda fucked them over so they only made chipsets for AMD for a couple years
and they were hot garbage
Most of my knowledge is from the more recent part of the 2010s since like 2014 I think
so they just stopped making them
and AMD's chipsets came from tons of random brands until they bought ATI and then used their Xpress line which were also hot garbage but seems like AMD has figured out how to make a decent chipset again
nvidia was also kinda weird in that if you wanted to use SLI the board had to have some special nvidia co processor on it
I do not recall crossfire X requiring anything like that, im also trying to remember I think when they stopped making chipsets only intel boards could use SLI until the FX series AMD chips
but CFX worked on both intel and AMD
well "worked"
ATI drivers were awful
Was that always a thing
I didn’t remember that being a thing with all of them
Nah they stopped doing that after I think X58
So like 2009-2010
Ah
Yeah ok
That’s basically where what I know starts
I haven’t experienced anything before that first hand and have no reason to go back and learn it rn lol
Intel had a cool but pointless chipset called skulltrail that allowed you to use 2 Core2 series processors
Oh man Skulltrail
Skulltrail is an enthusiast gaming platform released by Intel on February 19, 2008. It is based on Intel's 5400 "Seaburg" workstation chipset. The primary difference between Skulltrail and Intel's current and past enthusiast chipsets is a dual CPU socket design that allows two processors to operate on the same motherboard. Therefore, Skulltrail ...
Lmao
Enthusiast gaming platform
Is this like people who actually had workstation processors and used SLI for gaming
Biggest issue was Intel’s front side bus was rather slow compared to AMD so it didn’t work very well
Yeah pretty much
EVGA also had a cool board called the SR-2 that let you use 2 first gen i7s
EVGA had a lot of cool stuff
Thing was a beast was a full E-ATX sized board
interesting
didn’t EVGA make a lot of weird EATX boards over the years
i thought nvidia chipsets were supposed to be good
