Decker WoL here, I have og Steam Deck LCD, can game in ~2h with a wee bit intense, no adjust much beside some locked frame at 45fps and undervolt some stuff (adjusted in steam deck by default, not steam deck plugin)
installing XIV on linux/deck is p straightforward, just strictly follow the guide and you're ok
for the gamefile you can copy paste the olde gamefile (the game file itself, not just the char settings) from your current system (PC, I guess??)
only need a keeb w occasional mouse input (really)

recommend getting a decent SSD/storage size of the deck, you'd prefer good read/write speedo there. Unsure if install on SDCard be viable but should be just fine

||the trickiest is probably installing plogons/penumbra shenanigan stuff, because you must do it in Desktop mode, but iirc as far as you set all QoL plogons (NoClip/Alex, Battery show, bubble text, etc) on desktop mode beforehand, the rest is pretty much plug n play||
