switch is a phone or a tablet

burnt swallow
#

There's two that are like 15 minutes down the highway haha

odd sand
#

Just make sure they actually deal in Switches. It may be they only have some of them that focus on that. And that you're 90% sure it's the connector. The beginning of that video shows to look for some pins being bent away from the center PCB.

burnt swallow
#

There's two possibilities that come to their mind

#

Possibility one is that it's the connector and it's going to cost me half a Switch between labor and actually replacing the connector

odd sand
#

Is that what their quote was?

burnt swallow
#

Possibility 2 is that it's the display chip on the Switch motherboard and that would actually require me to send the Switch back to Nintendo

#

It was

#

$149.99

#

$90 for the replacement $60 for the labor because they've only got one solder tech for both stores apparently the other guys are out for whatever reason

odd sand
#

The alternative is you find a maker space or something you could buy a day pass for and try to do it yourself. The worst that could happen is you brick the thing. Either way you would be out the saves that are tied to your device

#

The parts cost of the GPU for the Switch is like $15

burnt swallow
#

I don't have a magnifier to get a good look at this connector nyaissa

potent arrow
#

don't even need magnify glasses or anything

#

look up a technique called drag soldering

#

just requires a lot of flux

#

I do it fairly frequently for projects: P

burnt swallow
#

Filthy amounts of flux and a heat gun until it magically pops off

potent arrow
#

i

#

would do it the last way

#

I have a lot of equipment because I do EE work

#

but the lazy way is that I would cut it off and clean up the pad

#

LOL

#

then put the new one on, tons of flux and drag solder it

#

if I have my equipment I have a hot air rework station that removes it instantly

sly elk
#

on the plus side, nintendo switches are incredibly well known with guides and videos and available parts

topaz zealot
#

I fucked around too much in Bios swttings with this curve optimizer and eco mode shit. My PC began boot looping so I turned it off at the back and now my PC wont turn on at all?

#

Do I have to reset CMOS

#

Can anyone please help an idiot out of their depth?

sharp star
#

I'm at the tail end of the video and holy fuck lmao

#

Intel pointing fingers at their board partners is so fucking funny

#

My siblings in Christ you recommended the power spec, not set it

cerulean talon
#

Heh, my 14900ks and matching z790 board are both going to RMA this week because they're both DOA.

#

It's getting hilarious how bad it's gotten.

real edge
#

meanwhile my 5800x3d has twisted pins due to my mistake, a mom and pop repair shop fixed it and it worked

#

barely pulls much watts

cerulean talon
#

Apparently, my roomie did some pin repair on my 12700 build and it's playing nicer for them, but they also aren't really pushing it like I tend to >.>

#

The issue with having multiple nerds in a house is you end up in hardware cold wars.

#

I think they also pulled half the ram from it, which I refused to do. 😄

real edge
deep sapphire
#

INTEL BROS

#

WHAT HAPPENED

modest moss
#

my intel is fine, rock solid

#

I just bought another intel, n100 mini pc

#

it's so smol

#

going to run plex off it hopefully

deep sapphire
#

I still love intel but this shit is ridiculous

#

people have reported they arent making people send their CPU back for RMA

#

so thats good

#

I can keep using this one until it becomes really bad

#

and then swap it out

real edge
#

so

#

the story is

#

intel has not given clear power limits to board partners

#

so they put their own

deep sapphire
#

I disagree completely, if that was the case why was the setting in there in the first place

#

I think the problem is intel enjoyed the press

#

for having better performance

#

so they just turned a cheek to the problem

real edge
#

yeah what I mean is

#

its both intels and the board partners fault

#

clear power limits should have been made clear

#

to prevent CPU degredation

deep sapphire
#

the same exact shit happened to AMD too, these board vendors have been doing this shit for 10+ years

real edge
#

silicon

deep sapphire
#

my old Z67 board had the same crap

#

ASUS enhanced OC settings

#

auto OC etc

#

its just CPUs back then had way more headroom

#

and werent using a chiplet design

#

intel should have told vendors to cut the crap

real edge
#

at least now both companies went through the same crap so it will most likely be fixed, unless intel digs their heels into the sand like ostriches

deep sapphire
#

its frustrating that for a lot of us its too late

#

and we have permanent damage

real edge
#

yeah its really sad

deep sapphire
#

im of the VERY firm belief you should NOT have to go into the bios to adjust any settings what so ever to get a baseline experience

#

you put your shit together, and it should work if you did it right

real edge
#

I wonder what the default even is

deep sapphire
#

the average person shouldnt have to learn what PL1 and PL2 means and all this other shit

real edge
#

on intel

deep sapphire
#

or the fact that XMP on both intel and AMD provides such a massive benefit that them considering it "overclocking" is just ridiculous

kind rune
deep sapphire
#

intel boards are overvolting CPUs

#

causing permanent damage

#

on a default setting

#

gigabyte users getting shafted lmao

kind rune
#

good thing i have an asus motherboard ASNishiSigh

deep sapphire
#

so do I

modest moss
#

technology sucks

cerulean talon
#

The answer here is that the defaults are WAY out of spec for the spec sheet limits.

#

In my case, the PCIE <-> PCIE switch is shot on my chipset, so that's just me losing the silicon lottery.

kind rune
cerulean talon
#

That being said, I 100% knew the risks with the ks chip. I wanted to play with that sweet sweet boost clock and ended up with a couple dead cores out of the box. 😄

deep sapphire
#

11th gen isnt affected

#

its only 13th and 14th gen

#

more so 14th gen 14900K and KS

cerulean talon
#

Yeah.

#

I've got a dead ks on my desk.

deep sapphire
#

but I have a 13700K that got affected

#

so thats great

#

I cant even undervolt it anymore

cerulean talon
#

Based on what I'm looking at, it looks like a couple cores over amped (shocking), trying to hit the giga-boost clocks.

deep sapphire
#

I have to turn ASUS undervolt protection on or my shit crashes lmao

#

such a joke

kind rune
#

this is exactly why amd gpus are better KianaCookie

deep sapphire
#

Radeon is gonna go bankrupt soon

#

MSI left

#

ASUS is next just watch

kind rune
#

i have an msi gpu smileW

cold yacht
#

Hell yeah

cerulean talon
#

I love my intel GPU's.

#

They're great for anything other than gaming and CUDA.

deep sapphire
#

people crying "we need competition" that isnt your responsibility to make sure a company makes good products

kind rune
#

hank what do you use your 4090 to do

cold yacht
#

Isn’t intel gpu for the budget folks

deep sapphire
cerulean talon
#

I like the intel GPU's for video transcode work.

kind rune
#

might as well just

cerulean talon
deep sapphire
#

true

kind rune
#

drive a virtual truck or something

modest moss
#

pixiv premium in 4k

cerulean talon
#

That THICC browser hardware accel

#

I'm still breaking in the new 4090

#

She needs to be burned in for awhile.

deep sapphire
#

oh baby

kind rune
cerulean talon
#

His spark plugs got a little burnt? Ran a little too rich.

deep sapphire
#

why does youtube have the worst algorithm for detecting if a video is made for kids or not

#

or is that a manual setting I dunno

kind rune
#

its a manual setting

sly walrus
#

algorithm?

kind rune
#

when you upload a video you choose if its for kids or not

deep sapphire
#

I just assumed google was like "hmmm this video looks like a cartoon"

sly walrus
#

they just check if it's a cartoon or not

deep sapphire
#

"COMMENTS DISABLED"

#

mmmmm timing chain

cold yacht
#

Can earn 258 points off that purchase

deep sapphire
#

I dont think ive ever seen an old chevy timing chain fail

#

they are so simple

paper tusk
#

take note ford putting rubber in contact with oil

deep sapphire
#

Ford only makes DOHC engines now they have a complicated timing system

#

old school cam in block OHV designs have a very simple timing system

#

vs

sharp star
odd sand
deep sapphire
#

and sorta

#

so basically all the major board makers were using their own "optimized" settings as default

odd sand
#

My 13900K has been solid the entire time 🤷‍♀️

deep sapphire
#

and under load they could set PL1 and PL2 to use 450w sustained

#

if your cooling could handle it

#

but 450w is just ridiculous and it was pushing upwards of 1.6 volts into the processor

#

the intel defaults are 250w max PL1 and PL2

late basalt
#

@deep sapphire I hate working on my own cars so fucking much right now.

#

I spent half an hour taking off the underhood flashing and looking for that purge valve

#

Only to find it was ridiculously accessible on the front of the fucking engine

#

5 fucking minutes is all it would have taken

burnt swallow
#

Consider the following:

late basalt
#

Oh, it gets better

dapper nymph
#

did you damage it more during the attempt

late basalt
#

I only have a set of SAE impact sockets

#

I had to borrow metric to get it done

#

And it was that infamous 10mm too

burnt swallow
late basalt
#

Nah

#

The evap system

deep sapphire
#

oh

#

and yeah all vehicles use metric exclusively now

late basalt
#

Wish I knew beforehand

deep sapphire
#

SAE is only really used in industrial maintenance

#

at my last job working in a food plant nothing was metric

#

we only used SAE

#

but cars yeah

#

metric only

#

doesnt matter if it was made in america its gonna use metric

late basalt
#

Thankfully it was an easy fix anyways

deep sapphire
#

some of the larger sizes you can mix and match

late basalt
#

If it was the other evap valve it’s more of a bitch

deep sapphire
#

like 3/4 is I think 22 or 23mm

#

it wont fit perfectly snug but snug enough it should be fine

burnt swallow
deep sapphire
#

HDMI is backward/forward compatible with any of them

late basalt
#

I’ll have a basic set of both just so I have them if needed

deep sapphire
#

you only need 2.1 if you are playing at 4K 120 or 8K 60

burnt swallow
late basalt
#

…why not replace the tv?

#

Could probably get one the same size for like $80-100

burnt swallow
#

Because I got it for free by picking it up next to the dumpster outside haha

#

I was talking about this yesterday too but it also drops the HDMI connection on both of my monitors which have HDMI 2.1 connectors

late basalt
#

Unrelated, have a look at these screaming shoes

sharp star
#

lmao Jesus Christ EK

#

I don’t think they should be at Computex holy shit

sly elk
dapper nymph
#

anyone familiar with a "microsoft surface" ? it's a laptop

deep sapphire
dapper nymph
#

what are you general thoughts about it

#

sorry for late reply, went to deal with chores, and still am

dapper nymph
#

along with refurbished macs while keeping in mind of the notoriety apple has with repaired prodcuts

sly elk
#

i have a first gen surface pro XD

#

so my experience with MS hardware is 10 years old

#

but their customer service over the phone was atrocious

#

otoh, their customer service at their stores was awesome

#

but MS doesn't have stores anymore 😦

#

I would recommend doing your due diligence about that particular model and see what people on reddit or wherever else on the internet have to say and what the common issues are

#

skinny towers look funny

potent arrow
sly elk
#

i want a gamers nexus shirt but they always sell out of the cool ones

deep sapphire
sly elk
#

yea afaik the newer surface stuff was actually built to be fixed

#

the old stuff was really awful about it

deep sapphire
#

yeah

sly elk
#

they made a surface laptop with FABRIC once

deep sapphire
#

the old stuff was even worse than the macs rofl

sly elk
#

oh way worse

deep sapphire
#

the new one has some magnetic top piece that just comes off

sly elk
#

the thing with macs

#

despite how much luis rossman bitches about them

#

if you don't abuse them they're likely to last a long time

#

hell even if you do abuse them

#

imacs are some of the most stubbornly reliable computers I've ever had

dapper nymph
#

i plan to look at the refurbished market for them

sly elk
#

still the thing that makes me laugh

#

microsoft surface and intel NUC. every IT person I've talked to about those seemed to hate em

potent arrow
#

I would go that far, but they are a bit robust compared to the other options

sly elk
#

but I don't think it was because they actually had a problem with them so much as they were blind dell cultists

potent arrow
#

but they do that to themselves

dapper nymph
#

i dislike dell as well

potent arrow
#

thermal design of a toddler with a crayon

sly elk
#

yea I fucking hate dell

dapper nymph
#

however

#

i somewhat just dislike laptops in general

potent arrow
#

surfaces getting so hot they discolor the screen and delaminate themselveshaha

sly elk
#

lol

potent arrow
#

I hate basically all Dell's except higher end latitudes

#

usually decently built but overpriced to all hell

dapper nymph
#

i somewhat don't get why are the specs so vague such as the ssd just listing the size, no speed, no sata/m.2

#

then again, i might be looking at it wrong

potent arrow
#

I don't hate laptops, I hate gaming laptops. Probably the most head ache inducing technology to be introduced in my life time

sly elk
#

lol

#

i've never owned a proper gaming laptop

#

i imagine they're fine if they are designed to handle the heat

potent arrow
#

none of them are

#

none.

#

they just heat saturate and die

sly elk
#

not the newer ones

#

errr

#

I think the newer ones are too thin and stuff so they probably do heat saturate and die

#

i was thinking of ye olde 2" thick 12lb alienware with 2 power bricks

potent arrow
#

they all suck imo

#

whats the point of portability when they are bricks and require like double powerbricks

sly elk
#

i think they have specific use cases

potent arrow
#

then like students buy them for school and turns out they are too heavy to lug everywhere

sly elk
#

like for a long haul trucker who likes to game

potent arrow
sly elk
#

or a college student that likes to play outside their dorm for some reason lol

potent arrow
#

the amount of e-waste its caused too

#

aughhhh

sly elk
#

fair

potent arrow
#

and so many of them are shoddy so they just die within a year

sly elk
#

and yea you really really can't use them for classes

#

but tbh

dapper nymph
potent arrow
#

or the fact that students use them as catch all their batteries die

sly elk
#

most college students are better off without a laptop in the classroom anyway lmao

potent arrow
#

and then they have literal bricks

sly elk
#

i realized that after a couple years myself

dapper nymph
#

i dislike laptops after seeing the amount of laptops that just perform poorly back at a certain office

sly elk
#

i used to carry mine and take notes on it

potent arrow
#

and they all have properitary batteries too

dapper nymph
#

some of them still do the job

potent arrow
#

its a fucking nightmare.

sly elk
#

like i am a silly person and I think

#

a macbook air is the best laptop and if you need something more than its capabilities you should get a desktop for that

potent arrow
#

but a lot of companies just buy bulk what's cheap rofl

potent arrow
#

the huge caveat is STEM

#

if only MacBook was better for stem, science and engineering has a chronic issue of using test programs from like the 1990s

#

so you have a weird windows 95 looking ass program

#

that won't run on parrallels

sly elk
#

that was the weird thing for me

#

in my chem/physics classes the times we used computer measurement tools

#

they were attached to macs lol 😄

#

my community college had them tethered to ibooks lol

potent arrow
#

So students are recommended a Windows laptop, but fuck windows laptops have the same issue as Android. A ton of generic devices and shit, and only a handful is good

#

so they buy a cheap yogabook and struggle.

sly elk
#

lol

#

i remember this in my uni

potent arrow
sly elk
#

the kids in like, art or history had nice new macbooks

#

the ones in engineering tended to have old laptops or really really cheap ones

potent arrow
#

yerp

sly elk
#

also gonna soapbox for a sec

potent arrow
#

the turbo nerds here all rock old ThinkPads like t430s

sly elk
#

when we interview people at work and I ask about their linux experience

#

about 95% of the time they have none, about 4% of the time they've run it exclusively in a vm or remoted into one

#

maybe 1% know what they're actually doing

modest moss
potent arrow
#

lol vbox ubuntu

#

that's the default for most students in CS here

sly elk
potent arrow
sly elk
#

which isf unny because one of my best friends had a thinkpad x that he tore apart and rebuilt with way nicer parts

#

he had a like 12" 1600x1200 IPS screen or something absurd

#

it was niiice

#

but the biggest douchebag I met was a linux dude with a T4something

potent arrow
modest moss
sly elk
#

fucker saw my powerbook and said "only a total idiot would use a mac"

potent arrow
#

oh

#

the people lol

sly elk
#

where is that fuckhead now

potent arrow
#

yeah

#

ThinkPad nerds are swaeaty

sly elk
#

and Iv'e run into a few thinkpad dbags on irc

#

they're like

modest moss
#

I got several good years out of it myself and could still pass it on

potent arrow
sly elk
#

tesla stans and apple fanboys combined

#

althouh apple fanboys got way more obnoxious after the iphone

modest moss
#

it's never left my house since purchase lol

potent arrow
#

I just like the build quality of the older ThinkPads

sly elk
#

YES

potent arrow
#

they kinda suck after t480

sly elk
#

so I saw past my grudge one year at anime expo lmao

potent arrow
sly elk
#

there was an online manga booth that had older thinkpads

#

and I was poking around at their manga on it and was like

#

this is fucking nice

potent arrow
#

yeah lol

sly elk
#

I had a 486 thinkpad. That thing was a piece of shit.

#

one of the worst built laptops I've ever used

potent arrow
#

idk a t480 and a t420/30 I've owned for many years and only now it's dying

potent arrow
sly elk
#

but yea, there was a generation of thinkpads with amazing build quality

potent arrow
sly elk
#

idk how long into lenovo ownership it lasted

potent arrow
#

she's mega busted but turns on

sly elk
#

i think my friend had an x240t or something

#

it was the one where the screen flipped around

potent arrow
#

t480

sly elk
#

heheh

potent arrow
#

LOL

potent arrow
sly elk
#

but yeeaa i pretty solidly fell into mac camp a long time ago

potent arrow
#

idk they are work and foremost

sly elk
#

apple got their issues for sure

potent arrow
#

and I like them for field deployment

#

I don't think a MacBook would survive in my hands

#

at all

sly elk
#

lol

#

yeaaa

#

the funny thing about that is my oldest bro uses an iphone and I think it's the only normal smartphone that would survive his clumsiness

#

unless he had one of those CAT phones

potent arrow
#

put it this way, I put the t480 on a carabiner and put it to my tool belt/harness and climbed up a GSM tower

#

and it was banging on each rung

sly elk
#

haha

potent arrow
#

and it's fine

#

that's not happen with macbook

sly elk
#

how did you attach it to a carabiner

potent arrow
#

k lock loop

sly elk
#

ohh

potent arrow
#

t series has magnesium frame

sly elk
#

tbh i think

#

the old macbook air with the crappy TN screen

#

might have stood some chance of surviving lol

potent arrow
#

so its physically attached to the laptop with metal not plastic

sly elk
#

it'd probably get dented and maybe even a little tweaked

potent arrow
#

idk the thing is if it breaks, I have spare motherboard and parts in my garage

sly elk
#

but those were laughably durable

potent arrow
#

so if it breaks is a literal hour fix

sly elk
#

the one that killed me was the plastic macbook

potent arrow
#

lol I loved how those looked

sly elk
potent arrow
#

I always wanted to put a framework into one

sly elk
#

they were simultaneously durable and fragile?

#

WTF

#

LOL

potent arrow
#

those are the ones I see kicking so often lol

#

LOL

sly elk
#

oh wait that's just the screen

potent arrow
#

oh lord

sly elk
#

i think the 2nd gen ones were more durable?

#

but they had that shiny palm rest lol

#

i am sad to say I've been hearing horrible things about framework

potent arrow
#

damn they looked so good tho T-T

sly elk
#

yea I had a first gen

potent arrow
#

I can forgive framework while they are young, I'm letting them cook

sly elk
#

the first gen was ok

#

but the plastic did chip on the edges

potent arrow
#

I am willing to try them

sly elk
#

they were OK though

#

idk how that dude broke the corner off lmao

#

maybe they attached it to a carabiner and climbed a tower

#

the 13" macbook air that followed was basically the same laptop

#

same stupid screen -_-

potent arrow
#

@-@

sly elk
#

the thing that made me laugh was that 13" not retina screen "2012 macbook pro"

#

apple kept making it until like 2015?

#

october 27 2016 lmao

#

the only computer they made for longer was the 2013 mac pro

#

they discontinued those in 2019 lol

potent arrow
#

was that the big ass unibody desktop things

sly elk
#

also if you've never held a 2013 mac pro

#

ohh man you've gotta

#

i love them

potent arrow
#

I've seen a million of those

potent arrow
#

there are these

sly elk
#

nah the 2012 macbook pro is just a macbook but aluminum

potent arrow
#

idk what the fuck they are

#

but schools use them a lot

#

and they haunt my soul

sly elk
#

emacs?>

potent arrow
#

its the silver all in ones

sly elk
potent arrow
#

in not well versed in apple products

sly elk
#

i can't remember if I ever used one

potent arrow
#

no the Slimer ones

sly elk
#

i think..

#

imacs?

#

a lot of different computers have carried the imac name lol

#

the g5s were not very good. the core/core 2 duo ones were basically immortal

potent arrow
#

yeah those fuckers

sly elk
#

the later ones used nvidia gpus and well

dire viper
sly elk
#

you know how that went

#

i forgot which ones

#

if they were the aluminum ones with the black back, or the later ones

#

i was fond of these because the glass screen was held on with magnets

#

the later ones were kinda dumb, but I think these had the bad nvidia gpu that would unsolder itself

#

the thing that makes me laugh though is

#

2014 they introduced the 5k imac

#

they still sell the same fucking screen for $1500 ><

#

one of my "i hate apple" moments

#

it's been TEN YEARS and that's the best they can do!

cerulean talon
#

But I'm also not on the 16, which I assume is going to have way more issues just due to the design.

sly elk
#

yea that's great news

#

i was thinking of this

#

but it might just be some dell-fueled controversy lol

#

This is a hobbyist product and will never be a serious contender for business, so I’m not sure why this is a surprise or huge deal.

#

see?

#

Enterprise doesn’t want people changing out hardware and running niche platforms, they want organizational control of their systems from cradle to grave, and Framework will never be able to be competitive there because their whole model is upside down.

#

RAWR DELL

#

SPEND ALL YOUR PROFITS ON DELL

#

this seems fairly positive lol

#

tbh I'd be willing to take a framework 16 over a dell precision laptop

deep sapphire
#

Dell has always had renown support thats why they are so popular in large organizations

#

a small business doesnt really stand a chance in that aspect

sly elk
#

i feel like, i'd rather never need the support

#

heh ran into a smug comment on hackernews

#

That's a big reason Apple causes so much resentment -- not everyone can value time over money.

#

subtle "you hate apple because you're too poor"

#

dude probably can't afford an iphone

cold yacht
#

So framework is a modular laptop?

cerulean talon
raw goblet
#

very

cerulean talon
#

The 16 has some really interesting expansion options, the "modularity" is mostly just USB-C other than the swapping of core components, so they're kinda interesting, but the ports could use some more interesting setups imo.

raw goblet
#

i think the current selection is fine but yeah won't hurt to have more options

cerulean talon
#

I /really/ want to redo one with a built in yubikey and a spare usb-c jack, but I need to do some work to figure out how to get it together. 😄

#

I'd much rather they expose them as PCIe 1x's, but it's much harder to do.

#

So it's sensible.

raw goblet
cerulean talon
#

Yeah, I've just been too lazy. 😄

raw goblet
#

The cup holder expansion card was hilarious

cerulean talon
#

Like I said, I love mine, I just don't entirely like USB-c as the connector out to the cards.

#

It's fine in general, but I'd like something a little more interesting to integrate.

#

I would like a 16:9 screen though.

#

That's 100% my complaint w/ the 13.

raw goblet
cerulean talon
#

PCIE is fully hotswappable.

#

You just need to use proper protocols and handling to make it work well.

raw goblet
#

It’s much harder to do the proper protocols especially for users making their own shit

cerulean talon
#

Eh, I don't think so too much, but I was doing some weird designs around 1x cards. 😄

#

It is however, to your point, harder than USB-C.

cold yacht

So about that display thing with alts

cerulean talon
#

Sorry, was catching some anime. So the core issue is that kupo maintains a 1:1 relationship between a discord user ID and a lodestone ID. Nominally, I've worked out a multi-stage step away from this to allow for a 1:many mapping, then allowing either access to "slots" or rebinding per server which char you want. Haven't decided which yet, there's a bunch of assumptions in the code base, but I did a bunch of tear out last year to start giving us the abstraction needed.

Essentially, kupo was never designed for alts, so none of his commands are designed to consider an alternate character map

#

He was designed with the very reasonable expectation that people wouldn’t have more than one character imo

That need has changed, but his code base needs an overhaul to catch up

Technically, one could state that kupo was originally never designed for character information at all. 😄

ICYMI:

MSI - Blacklisting reviewers who gave any criticism to any product, and attempting to buy their silence beforehand.

NZXT - One of their cases had a faulty riser that could catch fire if used as directed, sent out a fix that didn't actually fix anything, and then covering the danger up.

Gigabyte - During the GPU shortage during COVID they paired video cards with trash power supplies that caught fire when used as directed. You could not return or RMA the power supply without sending the GPU back as well. They then doubled down that the PSUs were fine.

Artesian Builds - Gave away a PC to a streamer. The streamer who won was pretty small so they took it away and gave it to someone with a bigger crowd. All of that happened during a live stream. They shut down not long after.

Newegg - Shipping used hardware as new despite clearly being used (and regularly broken) and doubling down. Also see: Gigabyte.

Asus - Motherboard BIOSes would dynamically overclock X3D processors to the point they would fry themselves and blamed AMD. The beta BIOSes that were supposed to fix this issue didn't and it voided your warranty. They have reversed their stance since.

LMG - Faking graphs, stealing a prototype waterblock and selling it secondhand. They were never held accountable until it came to light. A good handful of other allegations came up such as the Madison issue not long after.

EK - Not paying employees, suppliers, business partners, and governments, as well as OSHA violations, hostile workplace environments, lavish spending at the company's expense.

copper-plated drink mug
If it's only plating on the outside, does it even do anything over regular stainless steel?

hazy frost

If it’s plated on the outside it would still stop heat transferring to the surroundings as quickly ig

Idk if it’s the same one

#

I just mean by nature of the cross flow fans they make a more annoying sound and can be louder than the normal cooling solutions

#

It might not be too bad in comparison to other matx mini towers and itx cases though bc of the restricted airflow anyway

deep sapphire
#

yeah

#

most mini split units use these fans I never really noticed anything annoying about them

hazy frost
#

Compared to something that can fit like 3 120mm front intake or 2 140+ it’s ‘loud’

#

Looking at the size of that case they reviewed tho it probably makes sense

#

Not sure what repairs or replacements cost tho in comparison
