1. classic matte antiglare. Grainy texture in the image. Most office screens (like dell ultrasharps) have this one.
2. 'semigloss' idk what it's called. This one's also antiglare (not shiny) but it's not grainy and it's kinda reflective. These are the best kinda antiglare for image quality and most popular graphics design screens have this.
3. glossy plastic screen - often has orange peel. Usually seen on cheap laptops.
4. glass screen - think studio display or imac or most phones. Those are the best glossy screens because there's no orange peel

if you are running at a native resolution and its higher than what you've used in the past then yes it will use more resources

if a game doesnt support ultra wide resolutions you will get black borders like you said
