We finally got electronics off the top of the shrink list and I would like to keep it that way- pretty sure it actually got beat by OTC pharmacy. But MPP is such a pain in the ass when we don't have the proper tools to execute it.
Walmart problems, am I right?
it might depend on the nuc, but shit dude, I was using a geforce 2mx to drive 2 monitors for a while lol
you should be able to
nice ty ty
this
this is a fairly old looking plane interior isn't it?
actually that.. makes sense
probably a retired stage plane of sorts for photoshoots
(notice there's nobody sitting behind them)
why is apple marketing these to consumers
apple marketing has historically been out of touch like that
and I mean historically
the two most ridiculous ones that come to mind: Back in the 2000s they made a christmas ad suggesting you buy your family $300-500 ipods as stocking stuffers
but before that I remember grabbing their cute little brochures from the store
one showed some dude using a powermac as a kitchen computer to look up recipes
not an imac
a fucking powermac
idk if apple had a hand in this but

I dont get why anybody would buy a mac pro for productivity unless it was a provided system from an employer
this kinda shit is classic apple too haha
the curse of the early adopter
and what employer is giving their employees mac pros?
there's no way
i assume like
he does engineering
giant ass movie company
gives out locked down dells
with $20,000 FPGA special use cards inside, sure
but dell
engineering companies are gonna fuckin love the vision pro
corporate hates macs, especially corporate IT
that's like a cad machine
it can be used for productivity
I have never met a corporate IT type that was like
"macs are the greatest! I love macs!"
the Mac Pro is whatever from what I understand
its typical Apple making a non consumer friendly product but it is useful despite it being overpriced
idk
idk
he works at a company on government contract
they tried to love the hololens
as in he works in the defense sector
a defense contractor gave an engineer a mac pro?
nah the company he works for
I'm in even greater disbelief lol
its a smaller company, but they get discounts cause of government bs
dude has an entire water cutter he got on discount through the gov
ehhhh still not quite believing lol
his company is the one buying the stuff
yea idk either
like gov contract kinda company is like
the only reason I know him is cause he owns a 914
they hire cybersec dudes out of the military
the ones that use Cyber as a noun
not a verb as it was historically used
They are engineering consultants that get contracts with companies like Lockheed/Boeing through the gov
oh ok
yea
but the benefit is that they also do some work for some part of the government so they get some weird as fuck deals
ah, right, the dictionaries still correctly list it as an adjective or in some cases a verb
thankfully they didn't catch on to the noun usage
-shudder-
they are usually given a budget, and the person can choose what kind of device they like, the budget probably enough for him to choose mac pro hehe
probably
he already makes an insane amount
and hes not even done with his masters yet
he has probably the nicest 914-4 ive ever seen
and my last job specialized in Porsche 914's
that's awesome!
yea I would say fuck him too if he wasnt so goddamn nice lol
is his company hiring by any chance? XD
I didn't seriously mean it, lol, I'm happy for them
I dont have contact with him anymore
sadness xD
blud was making bank tho
wait making bank and they drove a 914?
i was thinking of something else when I heard 914
not vintage german miata
and im not lying, he somehow got a water jet cutter through one of there contracts
so he would fab parts for us sometimes
ya know, it could also be that they got it from a contract but it's still gov property?
idk
whats wrong with miata 🥲 I'll choose miata over any other more expensive rwd
nothing
possibly
cool either way
the 914 is just vintage ellegance
there's nothing wrong with a miata
it's kind of
don't get me wrong, the miata has appeal on its own merits from aesthetics and stuff
but i think it tends to attract someone who wants the best autocross car and like
their primary pastime is racing in between road cones in a parking lot
if only there's a family car that's like miata, I can only see 3 series convertible, lol
but they also make excellent track day cars ofc
like every miata fan I know has a picture of them
racing alongside a porsche ro something
like there's no Japanese car counterpart
you used to be able to say 'family car' and refer to sedans
the 914 goes craaaaaazY
but i think car seats got more and more bloated to the point that people refuse to use a sedan to carry babies
i actually worked on the 914 that won Le Mans in 1970
sweet
that 914 killed the 914 racing program
but also, yea, I feel you have to be very car nerd to want a 914
it beat the 911's by a massive margin
so much so it actually caused a stir in Germany as to why the cheaper 914 was able to beat the 911 so easily
the 914/6GT they used to race was essentially a lighter 911 that was also mid engine
i mean
so it was just better in every way
they probably don't worry about 'making a car better than the 911' anymore
this car :3
ah, what I mean is something with 4-5 seats and it has decent trunk hehe
the 718 GT4 RS is a better car than the 911's
but i bet at some point they had better designs that got shelved because it would offend 911 owners/customers
its just the 911 GT3 RS smashes the GT4 RS by a mile
ah it has that wink headlamp
uh yea basically
also it was an American who saved the 911 btw
but yea 911 has a weird uh
they were gonna axe it for the 924/944 and the 928
but Porsche got an American CEO who said "no we are keeping it"
I am aware of the 911 having a quirky fanbase
(not that all 911 fans are weird, just that there's a subset I consider very weird)
i like that dude though
idk why we don't see anymore of that, wink headlamp like miata NA or that car
porsche 911, ford mustang, jeep wrangler
ok, he is an immigrant to the US
I feel like they should just exist regardless of what the market says lol
he was born to jewish parents in Berlin prior to WW2
ah that said i had my little crazy last night on allpar
so they fled to Chicago
what a great place to grow up for cars lmao
its like Detroit
said if i ran stellantis i'd bring back the pt cruiser
and stop selling cars in white, grey, and black
just colors. yellow, green, red, blue, orange, etc
i'd make it a mission for every car to be polarizing love-it-or-hate-it
because if you're not driving a rav4 or a cr-v
thius is why i'll never work at a car company right? 😄
Cancellation of the 911 was also causing low morale in the engineering department, where the 911 was seen as the quintessential Porsche. While sitting in the office of Helmuth Bott, chief of engineering, he noticed a chart that showed the evolution of the 924, 928 and 911 on the wall. The line for the 911 stopped at the end of 1981. Schutz picked up a marker, extended the 911's line off the end of the chart onto the wall, and told Bott to make it happen. In the meantime he had the camshaft and other minor fixes implemented, quickly ending the quality control issues.
the 924 handled better than a 911
the 911 is iconic and part of the companies identity
there's nothing wrong with the 924 though
so getting rid of it would have killed them
i had a friend in college that drove one lol
that's a porsche? I like
yea
i was like 'wow, porsche, that's hella cool!' and he was like 'you won't believe how cheap these damn things are'
yea hjis was a basic bitch 924 i'm sure
so super duper rare and never sold in the US
yea
the GTS Clubsport was like
the same price as a 911 Turbo
also it's just, the 80s were weird
which is insane
think about how in the 80s
they sold 4 banger mustang hatchbacks
(that one's not a 4 banger)
tbh
I hated them with a passion in the 90s
I thought they were the epitome of 80s insanity
every fox body owner ive met is insanely passionate about it which is not the case for other mustang models
Gen 1 mustang owners are just very snobby
more snobby than Porsche owners in my experience
and by the 90s there was the 90s version, the one that everyone now hates XD
but I thought that was a mustang
I didn't know about the mustang II
a guy who owned a 1.5 million 911 RSR let me drive it cause I asked nicely yet a Mustang owner who has a car that costs at most 20k gets pissy when I get too close
the SN95
SN95's are uh
the worst snobby used to be like, subaru dealers
kinda weird
I like them tho
cause its the generation that the SVT Cobra was a thing
i've heard stories about people in their 30s with a job making good money getting snobbed when they went to check out an STi at a subaru dealer
and its where the mystichrome paint became real
isn't that a new edge and not an sn95?
yea STi's get taxed heavily
same with the Focus RS and ST
i miss those designs
you cannot buy a Focus RS from a dealer without giving them another 20-50k on top, and they are literally all used now
daily reminder that ford introduced a new mustang in 94 that made LESS power than the outgoing one
and the Camaro made over 100 more hp and 150 more torque
🤣
yes
it's amazing how the sn95 is very much a mustang but somehow it's also the quintessential 90s car
somewhere up there with saturn SLs
did you see fluffy bought an SN95 that had like 10 miles on it lmao
I know you're ready for a regular MONDAY episode of Jay Leno's Garage!
It's always a good time when Jay's friend Gabriel Iglesias stops by the garage. Usually Fluffy brings a Volkswagen, but today, he brought something very special, a practically brand new, 1994 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra.
Shop car care and detailing supplies from Jay Leno’s Gara...
he intends to drive it a lot
seeing this makes me want to get out a gameboy and play pokemon
yea wtf was going on with 90's ford
i wonder if it was because of money or because of overheating
the Ranger seems like the only thing that had decent decisions made with its production and was problem free if you had a V6 model lmao
oh is that one of the GT concept cars
I know they had like 20+ concepts for the modern GT
is it wrong that i love these
ah here we go

yo bro you can copy just change it a lil
EW
you're telling me it looks like shit
the EB110
and then showing me a way uglier car
yea the EB110 is not the best looking car
but it is the first modern bugatti
so its a lil interesting
also they are... not that expensive?
i think the gt90 looked cooler
still a million dollar car but cheaper to buy an EB110 than a new bugatti lmao
with its weird glass cockpit vibe
the bugatti looks nothing special because
it's like a lamer lamborghini
hahah but you're right, the shape is awful similar
it's crazy how different they look for having such a similar shape
nah it uses the design language from previous bugatti's
the nose is specifically a bugatti motif
the modern EB110 is much better tho
the Centodieci
they only made 10 Centodieci's tho
and a guy in the UK bought two of them
specced completely differently
new one's a little better
yea its not the best looking thing but it is the first of Bugatti's new coachbuilding factory
the Ford Probe will never be forgotten tho
the Probe is the basis for a lot of design stuff that is basically required in cars
you know how often I run into a boomer that swears they never will ever buy a ford again because of the pinto
hahahhaha
the probe
i had a friend in college that had a probe and NOTHING worked except the engine
have you read about the design of the probe
it was the first time ford let a woman design a car
idk how it was possible for almost everything in that car to be broken, even stuff you wouldn't imagine breaking
and it was the correct decision
iirc not a single electronic other than the starter motor worked
thats wack
but yea
for some reason the Ford Probe reinvigorated the idea to make buttons feel good to use in cars
the woman who designed it was a fanatic with the small details on it
she wanted every button to feel good
and be easily usable
even by someone with long nails
very weird car but very cool story
oh yea, the last W16 Bugatti roadcar is the Mistral
roadster bugatti
ehhhh
I bet every classical guitarists at that time bought that car
cause it's nail friendly
Bugatti really not be the best looking cars except for a few models but gotta give them credit for sticking to the design motifs
the Mistral starts at like 6 million USD tho lmao
the ac controls were pretty standard ford
it felt really nice to just be in
compared to other ford shit
I hate 90's and 80's cars that just feel like they are intended for an actual land whale of a human
my friends cadillac feels like shit to drive
just the seating position and everything
bench seats are cool but
it aint it
lol
that being said its crazy nice to just tour in
the only thing i can add is the contour/mystique had great seats
The Probe was a sales success in its first model year, owing to its futuristic styling and enjoyable driving experience. In fact, demand exceeded supply in 1988, enough that buyers were paying list price or higher for a Probe, and Jim Mateja, the automotive columnist for the Chicago Tribune, urged potential Probe buyers who couldn't find a Probe to consider its sibling, the Mazda MX-6
I love hims
its not the best car ever
but it is cool in a nerdy kinda way
god I hate being a car guy
why:?
cause you are peak nerd
I dont think anybody in software dev has anything on me
im the mega nerd
I can identify every generation of 911 including mid generation changes
the lettering and side mirror changes on the 911 from 1972 to 1973
between 1965 and 1966, the interior became slightly less upscale and the lettering changed yet again
the first model year of 911's is desirable entirely because they are much more... coachbuilt than later years
stuff like walnut dashes
I think it's nice, I rarely seen people here interested in any engine related, most modification they have on their car are usually exhaust, wheels, spoilers, vinyls etc
only one person I met, but he's a mechanic haha
Ngl besides liking cars, I don’t know the intricacies of them very well. Being in this channel alone made me understand them more
So yeah being a nerd is a good thing
i really haven't gotten myself that familiar with 911s but
in school I took pride in being able to stand on a corner with a friend and just rattle off the make/model of every car that went by hahaha
car has wheels
wheels move

L=342 W=150 H=75 mm will be the dimensions of my new card, jesus it will be a chonker
idk I took the height off of gigabytes page
ye but thankfully I got a huge case many years ago so I can fit everything
it was the corsair 600c inverse
its gpu clearance is 370mm
that
I do not get why its so big either
Aero cards are usually a lot bigger heatsinks because they are marketed towards more workstation users
so they want them to be generally more quiet iircc
Aero cards usually are the biggest lmfao
the gaming OC is just as big this time
aero and Strix compete for the GPUs I can use for self defense
ya
probably reused the heatsink
I do not remember, what were the differences between the two apart from the color?
I'm pretty sure it was basically colors lol and regional pricing
I have to check, but I think the vapor chamber layout was also different between the two
the cheapest here was the ventus for 1130 and then the aero for 1200 and then 1300+ for everything else
well as long as it fits inside the case and I can use the anti sag bracket I am good
I have a gigabyte motherboard so it should be compatible with the bracket
if it fails I have an aftermarket one
you should see the memes I've done with that card
I'm a small person
and if you saw it in my hands
you laugh
just saying

me and my friends were laughing so hard when I received the first few gpus
just "Why are these so big this generation"
overcompensated most likely
gigabyte gpu is a brave purchase tbh
store has 3yrs warranty here in the EU and gigabyte has 4 years if I register it
their 3090s sucked, don't be surprised if you need that warranty
my case is inverted so I needed a case-agnostic anti sag bracket and theirs conviniently is that
hm, why?
I recommend them the gigabyte >_> because I had good experience with them this gen lol
I would happily recommend gigabyte for motherboards and so on, but GPUs I'd skip
Ice you don't need a gpu shush
not unless you're running big AI models and need the vram
ice buying a GPU worth the cost of my new rig
yeah my 3070ti is still great, I'm running RDR2 maxed out at 1440p and it's gorgeous and I'm getting 90fps and that's plenty for me
I'm 3060ti generally works well when it's not suffering from water corrosion
have you only just met her
what are the problems you have seen/heard about
her loop is a bodge job and she fixes it but doesn't fix it
just them dying and people I know having to RMA them and so on, and when they've done research coming to me and bitching about all the other reports they found online of failures
wtf I love nvidia even more
its funny how its quiet bios is more cool than most other cards OC bios
I am blown awyq by Samsung incompetence
When I went to register my monitor they said they couldn't verify it's warranty
The monitor I purchased from their own store.
With a pdf of the receipt from their own store
They sent me an email a month later telling me they need more info
depends on your rendering resolution
games in general use as much as you can throw at them but some of it is preloading assets
if you have a 12gb vram card and you are max RT and settings 4k you may reach the limit but the game will not require more
it might use more if you have it
but not require
if you use DLSS, your rendering resolution drops
so that lessens vram requirement as well
we wouldnt understand they doin rich ppl things
dam, there's an oculus quest 2 without controller that sells for cheap
should I take this offer 🥲
do I need a controller to play sim racing?
time to upgrade
i don't want to upgrade a pc that i only use when i am not at home
and rarely at that
or... i upgrade my current pc and replace it what i already have...
hey at least i can remote into my home pc and play trough that..
Then just don’t play when your not at home pc

60 fps, so not bad?
my standard is low, 60-75 fps is fine for me
idc about tekken 8 anymore, I'll stay inside AC server on VR whenever on game time, good bye real world..
bye tekken
either my headphones just died or the cable for them. i will find out on monday when the new cable arrives

time to upgrade
didn't you say you want to get into rocksmith, time to get them studio headphone
I have Sennheiser HD600s
me too
ah dam
hmm $100 USD for 256 oculus ._.
I really want it, but afraid that I will get addicted lol
or should I get till google launch theirs
I don't like meta brand, lol
oh rip, it needs prescription glasses
hmmm
HD600S GANG
If on budget
Is it ok to use tier c on the psu tier list? (3years warranty)
Or i need to cut budget on motherboard to go for tier A (7+ years warranty) like 80+gold?
Planning to use B series motherboard
Which mean its bad?
Was trying reduce the budget
which PSU are we talking here
the tier list is a good guideline but it's not the gospel so
Corsair Cv650 80+ bronze
The other is fractail ion 650w 80+ gold but gonna cost double the price
i take it you have really crappy parts availability out there veilz 😦
getting old fashioned here
83% of amazon USA reviews on that PSU are 5 stars
CORSAIR CV power supplies are ideal for powering your new home or office PC, with 80 PLUS Bronze efficiency guaranteed to continuously deliver full wattage to your system. A 120mm thermally controlled cooling fan keeps fan noise to a minimum, while a compact casing makes for an easy fit into near...
also, it's compact
imma say, look harder
I was given an excel list on which one to buy back then
Yeah the choice is that or the fractal one
what are you driving with this again?
and also, how solid is your power?
do you have lots of brownouts and junk?
am4, 32gb ram, b550m, 1tb nvme, 8fan, montech sky2 case
Around that spec
Probably on 5600 and either 6600, 4060 or 6700 xt
Still cant decide but I'm probably hitting 4060 for Electricity cost

This review & benchmark of the new AMD R7 5700X3D Ryzen CPU tests the 2024 launch vs. AMD's R7 5800X3D, the modern 7800X3D, Intel's 14600K, and plenty of other CPUs. The primary focus is on the R7 5700X3D vs. the 5800X3D, as many AM4 owners may be seeking one final upgrade before...
all i can think is either way, if you wanna upgrade you're going to need a better psu either way probably lol
at least if you ever wanted a 4080
or something like that
Higher power or better efficiency?
moar powah
fwiw most 80+gold psus are more like 90% efficient lol
those tier names are weird
I don't think my wallet will allow that probably gonna stay mid endd for a long time
Im probably staying on 1080p for a long time and... 4080 is kinda out my wallet reach for now
For now either 6600, 4060, 6700 xt would be max
hmmm
I'm already reduce cost for getting non rgb ram so I thought I could do more 🤣
Should i reduce case fans
too? To like 5pcs?
idk, depends on the case. and what kinda fans?
Well montech sky two came with 4 already Argb max 8
also where you live, what's the average temperature all year around there
31°c max 34 Recently
ic ic, i think my spec is similiar to yours. 6600xt, 5 5600, 16gb, b550m
i'm using microatx, just 5 case fan + stock cpu cooler
average temperature around 1-24, It's rarely hot here cause I live in floor 25
I think longest so far, I've run it for 72 hours
Guess I can reduce the fans to 5 🤔
no problem so far
Which mean its ok?
nah, quest2 > vision pro
both should be at the bottom now i realise
i can already see in some future, with now the controveresy of ai, (example the swift case) and overlaying that against that kind of screen
in real time
like, imagine everyone wearing one, having overlaying ai generated bodies
huh
hmmmm
XD apple going for that good first impression, first setup froze on setting up account xD
rebooted and it looks like everything was setup just fiiine though
how do they make the speakers on these this good lol
what the heck did I just see, flying V ukulele
Looks like an arrow
i bought a macbook air and I don't regret it lol
here i was thinking i'd get a framework 16 but nooo
-looks over at his giant overpowered desktop- i don't need an overpowered laptop
I've swung around to wanting a laptop lol
my t480 is finally kicking the bucket
it tried to die a few months ago
I put an order on a framework
it came alive
I paid tuition
I think I still have my old macbook pro, for a backup laptop, decided to never buy apple again after that one
refunded the framework LOL
That’s the one with the cheese grater case?
I replaced the CD drive into an SSD, so actually it has some decent space
no i have the case that looks like a squished paper cup
with the top that is motorized
I chose an Inwin 915 case for my new build. As you can see, the top opens when it wakes, and closes when it goes to sleep! I turned off the sound because it was too noisy, but that's for the best.. the motor sounds a little cheesy lol.
Oh? I don’t think I’ve seen that model
inwin does make a cheese grater case

it's not quite as cheese-grater-ish as apple's cases but it's not far off either
the front/back bars are removable/reversible, too, so you can have handles on top if you want

I subscribed cuz why not
that said, inwin cases are a guilty pleasure I don't go around recommending, they're usually not good bang-for-the-buck XD
but they are made out of nice thick metal
Yeah they look nice
hmm not sure i'd call my 805 thick metal but it's a nice case, just... they aren't like, 'builder's cases' if that makes any sense
i hate metal gold, they are usually not a real gold 🥲
inwin cases don't usually have things like rubber grommets or cable management channels
so once the colour chipped, it will looks like silver
I have a Chopin (not the new Chopin) and hecc the boi is nice
I prefer the silver one. This has that weird stained hue if you get me
neat 🙂
i think the front panel on the gold one is beige and not actually gold iirc
which turned me off

i also don't like the brown feet
it's too bad, I like the idea of a gold pc case
something different ya know?
Atleast they didn’t pull an apple with the whole sapphire Apple Watch situation
also what kills me most is they use bolt-on side panels
instead of tool less latches
my 915 has latches and I LOVE IT
it's way better if the side door clicks off instead of needing to be unscrewed
mmm what's wrong with the sapphire?
othe r than it being like 'sapphire crystal'
i bought a red one last year during black friday, thought it was too good a deal to pass up and it was the only color left at the time.... then they had silver so I was happy and thought i'd send back the red one.... nope
the red is so pretty :3
but the glass already scratched lol ;_;
I remember they had a model where they used cheap sapphire that with very little material actually being in the watch. They over hyped the concept essentially
i did get a gold macbook air though, I like it. very subtle gold
it sounds cooler than
Nice
GORILLA GLASS XP ULTRA GOLD
they make a groilla glass jeep windshield lol
and everyone who buys it on the jeep forum seems to hate it
they're like "i bought it and it cracked on the way home from the dealer" ffs
nah jeep windshields get cracked easy because the shape i think
no. jeep customer service is like... gigabyte or asus.. or msi..
Oh goodness
whoever it is that you have a problem with your gpu and rma it
and then they're like
IT ARRIVED BROKEN
Ffs I hate when companies do that
if you go to a jeep dealer with problems the first answer is always "they're all like that"
the second is "It's a jeep thing"
the third is to blame it on damage from off-roading or customer abuse
I'm sure at least some of those are true
there was also this person
7/24/2020 - Purchased 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon with upgraded Mud Tires I didn't even want.
7/26 - Hit the trail. Plowed it through the mud a bunch of times. It was covered in mud for sure and killed the alternator. Had it towed to the closest Jeep dealership. Russell Westbrook of Van Nuys...
if you have your jeep towed to the dealer looking like this they might void the warranty
Dude wtf
it's not an amphibious vehicle
haha
when a fun drive ends with check engine lights
quick little question if my pc case has 3x120mm fan support does that mean it has 360mm radiator support as well?
Can’t wait until they ccharge the clouds for making it rain on their cars
googled it, nope.
it's not a guarantee
AIOs are longer than the fans themselves
you have to have room for the radiator
my case can fit 3x140mm fans in the top, but there isn't enough room for a 420mm radiator 😦
my case says 280s max so ill just go with 280
lol this guy

man imagine shopping in a store with those
like shopping in target with the target app(tm)
or maybe better, shopping in target with the amazon app
you could pick up something off the shelf and see reviews and ratings and shit
that sounds great and fucking awful all at the same time
in both of my cars I can hold down the voice command button for a sec to trigger siri on an iphone uh
how do i make my android phone respond the same way
because it doesn't seem to
what's real cute is on my samsung, there are two options for the power button on the side lol
holding the button can either bring up the power off menu, or activate bixby
and double tapping can do anything including launching other voice assistants
but ... no options for enabling the car to activate voice assistant 😦
yea i think it's a phone configuration thing
presumably it wants to launch bixby but I disbled bixby 😄

it’s so cool that google glass failed because it was expensive and lame and had absolutely zero real world use and now apple are releasing a headset that makes google glass seem trendy and functional. at least they were fuckin glasses
If you’re expecting him to be very critical I wouldn’t bother
You can’t be critical of products anymore or else you get banned from most companies press events
The only exception is like cars
Cause there are so many reviewers you’ll get your knee caps taken if you bar any of them
I have been an iPhone user for a decade and I don’t see myself switching. Android doesn’t feel right to me for some reason. Computers though? Nah. I had a 2017 Macbook Air I bought off eBay for $300 and it was alright. But I can’t see myself paying $2k for a machine I can’t fix or upgrade.
I wish they’d make printers again like they did in the 90s though. Most residential grade printers are dogshit quality.
I do use Mac’s plenty when working
They are the standard in studios
But really I don’t feel much difference between that and my home Pc
Outside of Mac using command instead of control for most key command
Yeah, that fucked me up
Billions of dollars have been spent trying and failing to achieve something I do every morning with a smartphone and a train

it looks spiffy
OH NO
I can't find it but I coulda swore I made a joke the other day about people doing that
man those people look like they were drawn by an AI model
dystopia
Honestly if I see someone driving with that, imma just try to get away as fast as possible
Me but with Tesla and Nissan drivers
nissan drivers lol
bmw drivers are worse here
mmm
self-driving teslas usually don't fuck with you when you try to change lanes, at least
I thought that's mustang
it's been a meme that mustang car/driver lost control of their car
bmw doesn't use turn signal
this gives me LA vibes
ic ic, i never knew about nissan one haha
not sure which one gives me LA vibes more, the bus running the red arrow or the nissan flying into the far right lane
it's hilarious because usually a multi-lane left turn thing here has markers in the intersection to guide you so you don't drive into the other left turn lane while making the left
and people don't friggin stay in their lane while turning
and the other people have a temper and lay on their horn when that happens, which I get... but still...
why are so many intersections in my town shaped like that lol
being in the inner lane is always spooky when a car comes at you lol
wow that's
what the fuck lmfao
when I was in NY state I learned that I can't right turn on reds -_-
gg
i live a house away from an intersection kinda like that ^
and at least a few times a day I hear a honking fight ensue
from someone drifting out of their lane while turning ><
there's also the people who like to make their turn while drifting
and sometimes someone at like 3am does donuts in the intersection
wow
dude this is the real classic car right here lmao
buy a not nissan
someday: 40 year old Nissan Altima in pristine showroom condition. Only one of its kind.
Never saw that car before, is that an only US model?
car modification exterior usually simple, remove all badges, then just up wheels by 2 inches
the altima does appear to be a north-america-specific nissan
(they do sell them in canada)
I guess we don't have that model in Germany, you know which engine it has?
yeah US has a certain taste, and this really has the US stereotype car, lol
2.4 I4 or a 3.5 V6
loosks like they sell it with a 2.0L turbo I4 now, too
and don't sell it with the 3.5 V6 anymore 😦
🤮 2.0L
they aren't popular like they used to be, but the altima was cheap and japanese
so they are considered a solid choice for someone who needs a new-ish and reliable-ish car
also, iirc they were the standard enterprise full-size rental car for years
Man, they destroy cars now for the emissions
so when I say available cheap, I mean you could probably get a year old altima for <$20k for a long time
in fact
good to know, I guess this competes with camry?
yep
now, avis' standard full-size car is a camry
but avis is kinda ghetto compared to enterprise
I've never seen such car in Australia
also for comparison
not a lot of selection here
I suspect that the commodore is your equivalent lmao
ah yeah, v6/v8 stuff
not a fan of commodore, but a lot of them here haha
in terms of reputation
I want to import an Aussie ute
like I've heard they're popular with bogans
and i'd say the average altima driver is pretty much a bogan
, oo why ute 👀
ohhh really 😱
they very briefly sold the commodore in the US
ic ic
chevy only sold it in the US as part of a contractual obligation
they never advertised it, so they are super rare
yep
pontiac G8 and "chevy SS"
plus they look practical
Pontiac GTO, Pontiac G8, Chevy SS are all Holdens
G8 is Commadore, GTO is Monaro
Chevy SS is a Commadore
kias were gonna fill in the niche nissan had but now people dont want to get kias cause all of the break ins
in the US, if you want a full size sedan with a V8, your option is the dodge charger... while they still exist on dealer lots
what the fuck are you talking about
that or you buy a bmw/mercedes/audi and even those have mostly switched to turbo 6 by now
buy a sporty car if you want a sporty car
dont buy a commuter sedan and expect performance
turbo 4s are in pretty much everything now
and turbo 3 cylinders
the turbo 4 that has a 14:1 compression ratio, requires 91 octane gas, uses 0w15 oil, and is mated to a cvt, and has an astonishing amount of plastic
the gr corolla runs on a turbo 3
the fastest car under 40k is a GR Corolla with a 3 cylinder
then you read reviews online and people complain about broken engines at like 60k mi
ig its not the "fastest" in a straight line
it is the fasest around a track tho
I dont really consider cars fast if they can only go in a straight line lol
mm
I mean isn't straight line is all electric now? hehe
oil starvation issues
cause the recommended oil change intervals arent good enough
my favorite is the "only change the oil when the car tells you to" crap
they need to be shorter, and also its proven that very few oils are fine up to the recommended 8k miles unless you drive slow as fuck
those things are CRAP
there is only one electric car that beats a Porsche 911 Turbo S Lightweight in a straight line
and its the Lucid Sapphire
if you do an actual full on drag race
the 911 Turbo S Lightweight does 0-60 in 1.9 on the street
it also handles well and you can drive it around a track
so for the more money you get a more capable car, also you get a much nicer car than the EV brands somehow
minimalism is the biggest consumerism lie ever
its only so Tesla can barely make profit lmfao
cause they dont make profit most years...
...and the only years they make money are the ones where they sell their carbon credits to other companies so they directly make money off of making the environment more polluted
i hate the minimalism in tesla cars
yea tesla interiors are nowhere near nice enough for the price
ic ic, I want a recreational being able to drift without having to own or pay for a car/garage yearly cost, how do I do that lol
and we know for a fact that they arent spending extra money on anything else
so despite making pretty good margins on every car they sell they somehow do not make a profit
maybe its the super bloated R&D costs for tech they never will use
cyber truck is bold sold on a loss every unit
Porsche makes more profit than Tesla does on actual units sold its insane
god i love seeing tesla investors sad that their stock is dropping in price
and being mad at zuckerberg
Porsche Sold 320,221 cars in 2023.
Tesla Sold 1.81 million cars in 2023.
Porsche is the only one that made a profit
tbh that style of interior would "look cheap" even if they used high quality materials
yep
it's like the designs dodge/chrysler and even mercedes were using on interiors in like 2008-2012
the designers at tesla literally have designed nicer interiors, Elon just doesnt want to man up and fix his company so they make money
they had these blocky shapes that were hard to make look 'quality' because 'quality' has a look
no it's like
it's like how beton brut architecture always looks dreary
when you have a design that simple it can be considered cheap looking even if it's good
i just hate everyhting about tesla ]
no I mean they literally designed completely different interiors
but they would lose even more money
i like the concept of a zen interior
i remember they took the stalks out of the car
what i don't like in tesla interiors are the steering wheel, and the insistence on having a single giant touchscreen and nothing else
thats stull weird to me
its a button you press on the sterring wheel to turn on the signal
as a company I hate their obsession on self-driving and seemingly neglecting everything else, including working conditions
its elons obsession
like I get the vibe they hate their employees
also its not self driving, and wont ever be
ah yeah Elon himself is a workaholic yeah? haha
it's like they try to institute class-ism
them selling it as self driving is why so many people are dead
and he expect all his employees to do the same
people blindly expected the car to do everything for them because all the marketing said it was "self driving"
over the air updates also have ruined tesla
they're already so close
their strategy for putting superchargers everywhere has worked very well for them
they choose not to fix inherent issues with designs and release updates that make parts of your car function worse to prevent issues
and from what I've read, and from talking to a few tesla owners
their cars are pretty nice generally?
Tesla assembly lines also arent allowed to stop iirc, so they dont let employees fix things as cars are produced.
i really do hope that tesla lose sweden
like pretty much everyone i know who has a tesla has said the same thing
yea, they do have good cars but the quality control is massively hit or miss
"I've had it for years now and the only thing I needed to do is change the tires"
I saw a cybertruck yesterday at the car show and it had really bad panel gaps and also the steel was already awful
to be fair, I don't drive much, and my experience with my_jeep wrangler_ is the same lol 😄
salt, water, dirt and other random shit on bare stainless steel makes it one giant battery
i took it to the dealer once in 5 years, for a recall that required a software update
other than that all i've done is change the oil 4 times
according to consumer reports my wrangler should've blown up by now
Tesla CyberTruck, the first vehicle to actively suffer galvanic corrosion for your pleasure
Washed the jeep over the weekend and noticed small bubbles in the paint at one of the rear door hinges. I am over a year and have roughly 27k miles. They are hard underneath and the paint is not loose and pretty sure they were not there last time i washed the vehicle. It cant be rust under the...
yup
normally stuff like that wouldnt be galvanic corrosion, it does take quite a while but from my experiences its vastly faster if the steel/aluminum are both much larger with lots of contact
its probably both tho
light paint, galvanic interaction, exterior
off gassing from the corrosion creating bubbles under the paint
also, I do worry about tesla being more likely to have issues like forgetting to tighten bolts or whatever because the assembly line people are squeezed too hard
yep
but it's not like ford/gm/chrysler are known for not squeezing too lol
yea but at least GM does the same thing as Toyota
otoh based on posts i saw on fb from people who work at the jeep factory
i don't think jeep assembly line people are getting squeezed much lol 😄
they let employees stop the line if they notice something and they figure out a fix for it on the spot
Porsche has been doing that forever, mostly cause of how slow their production used to be
yea and communication and good management can get around it
its crazy how few machines they use
like they could realize they're out of a part
but still assemble the car anyway
and set aside that batch to get completed later
i mean it's funny how much machinery IS used
your average car is formed/welded/painted by robots
ye
and then the assembly plant is mostly clicking stuff together and bolting assemblies in
porsche still has a heavily hand assembled line
but the assemblies themselves sometimes have to be made by hand
all the interiors are hand stitched
and there's plenty of fiddly bits
the one that makes me laugh with jeeps is that the decals are done via a template system
and somehow they still regularly fuck it up lmao
like sometimes they'll put the wrong sticker on the fender lmao
someone set the machine wrong and didnt double check
LOL
the whole ass wrong tailgate too
so probably the truck got fudged half way down the line
yea ford is the worst about that kinda thing lmao
two trucks got swapped
ford's the only company i know of that regularly puts mismatched seats in their cars
OH AND THE MISMATCHED HEADLIGHTS lmao
also, ford paint sucks
lmfao
i remember seeing new broncos with copious amounts of orange peel on the lower body
was like wtf it's 2023 how
my dad's mercury mystique was like that. the lower parts of the doors had heavy orange peel from the factory
oh yea Porsche also built a whole new ass assembly line for cars with the paint to sample option
cause paint to sample cars are mostly done by hand cause you pay 25-50k for paint lmao
depending on what it is
if you want you can have 100k paint :)
maybe not that bespoke
Metallic Chromaflair paints are insanely expensive
but like, having a palette of 20+ options
(porsche does that, too)
where you have the standard like 5 colors, then another 5 colors that are like $1000, and then another 20 that are like $5000
and then the "any color you want you rich MF" option
Python Green ChromaFlair is a 97,000 USD paint job
dodge/jeep could totally do it, too. They already have a process that involves on-site "special build" stuff
(eg the jeep comes off the assembly line and gets pushed to another queue for another building where they install bolt-ons for special editions or whatever)
indeed
and if you wanna automate the custom paint type stuff its even more
I don't hate their seasonal paint color system
where they rotate through a palette of like 30 colors over the course of 5 years
the only problem is sometimes you want a new one in that color lol
it also sucks when a special edition is only offered in some colors
like the 300c only came in red/white/black. no blue 😦 no silver either....
the red does look sweet tho
yea, there are more paint options now but they are expensive
toyota offers quite a few on their higher end cars but they cost like an extra 1.5-3k
so people dont option them often
oh I thought that's a normal price for a paint job
I dont know other than ChromaFlair is a very special color shift pigment for cars and getting the desired color shift is a matter of lots of work
no
custom paint on Porsches starts at 20k
but they have a library of paints that people have done before which you can also get for quiet a bit less
its 13k for any of the paint to sample colors already in their library, but not every color they have done is in it
most people pay an extra premium to lock a color out from the paint to sample library
Ford did the same thing with the newer Ford GT
if you payed like 100k for the paint it meant nobody else could order a Ford GT in that color
also the original Audi TT sketch from the 90's
this car got the vw beetle vibe
designed by the same guy
the New Beetle was partially designed and the Audi TT was designed by Freeman Thomas
both are based off of the "Bauhas" style
The Audi TT is in my opinion one of the best styled cars in the past 30 years. And I’ve put my money where my mouth is – I owned one for 9 years. I loved every minute, even taking it around the track. But I’m waiting for the next car with a style so unique that I’ve just got to own it. It’s a car that’s spanned four decades through three differe...
yeah not my type, not a fan of audi in general haha
I think for Germans, I'll get a simple BMW
oh why's that
you mean a lot of unecessary features inside? or like do they have problems?
BMW's are plagued with problems depending on the generation
starting in the 90's BMW realized that they would have to step it up to be able to get people to buy their cars
so things got more complex and more advanced
Germans can make things work but typically its very expensive and unreliable
BMW had engine issues for a long time until 2014 when the B48 inline 4 came out, and then the B58 inline 6 came out after
the B58 is probably the best engine produced
other issues with tech that was too early like new AC system designs and complex wiring harnesses that can fail
ic ic, I guess German cars aren't for me afterall haha
you can definitely get a reliable BMW
you just have to know what to look for
same with the Mini
the engines they were using for the new Mini Coopers were not very good until BMW used it as a production test mule for their B48 inline 4
those B48 mini's are unbelievably reliable, just a pain in the ass to work on
you can't order a toyota to spec in the US
afaik, some dealers allow you to request a spec, and then they'll pull it from available incoming shipments or whatever if they can
