I'm assuming the google certs hold quite a bit of weight in the industry or nah?
yeah experience is very important
I have a MSc degree in cybersec but it took me a while to get a job because I had almost no experience
and after a few years on the job, I understand why
its hell

I've always wondered how accurate those things are. I assume you're gonna be paid shit and overworked for like 3 years that route, but then be able to pivot to a better position and pay?
And what does 75% placement in 6 months mean? How many resumes a week?
do et, UX is usable in a lotta field not just tech tho
Problem is you will take your good original UX, then after it goes thru meetings with mgmt, focus testing, and cramming in the monetization bible, it will turn out like the ones in current games /s
The problem with cybersec is it's so varied in what you actually do and the skills needed for it. Obv red/blue teaming require a lot more skill.
Entry level tho you're really no better than Tier1 tech support dealing with bitch work alerts
man if you're an actual information security specialist and your employer has you do first line tech support shit then get the fuck out of there
because they don't know what they're doing
And then I dunno about others, but for the ones I do there is a ton of overlap with general networking/infrastructure and automation bc most depts don't know what we need for logs and how to integrate that
and you are probably underpaid and overqualified
Is game dev a horrible idea for a comsci undergrad
That's the thing I dunno what info sec specialist even means
Game dev is a passion industry so you will be underpaid and overworked unless you go indie, and even then you can still have that happen
it's always a complicated thing to describe
the problem is that when people think of security, they think of passwords and firewalls
Also be prepared for shit you spent years on to implode and never see release
but security is very wide
security is not just a technical problem but also an organizational one
That's my point: You can get a degree in cybersec, but at the end of the day, it really means close to nothing to experience bc every company's network is different unless they're like all AWS cloud or something
and an administrative problem, a legal problem, a contractual problem...
Well there goes that career idea

Hah don't I know it. Spent over a year now and will be years total beating into shape the network of the current contract
That's not to say it will happen, but it's very common especially in AAA for stuff to be in an incubator for several years, then get scrapped
see you probably should not be making changes to the network yourself, instead you should discuss with the network team what changes they should make to make the network more secure
Right. But then that also comes back to the network team goes:
Bc they don't understand what you're trying to do, or they simply fear change, etc.
oh believe me I know
So it took us a year+ of networking in the people sense and explaining things 12x etc. to finally get over certain humps to get things done
"We want to make the network more secure"
"You are not touching the fucking network, that is our job"
"Okay, we would like you to make the network more secure"
"We don't have the people for that, it's your job to make us secure"

Yep. A lot of the time it's me going: I don't care how it gets done, if I read up on it and present to you a plan on how to get it done and you sign off on it, can I simply do it myself then?
That's how a lot of the stuff gets done.
Maybe it's better to get into IT instead? I really enjoy taking electronics apart and figuring out what's wrong with them
eg: We don't have a definitive global asset list, so I'm talking to each tenant to find out what their definitive asset tool is in their region and going to send that all via API to what I need and do it myself. Bc they're all like "oh that would be nice, we've talked about wanting that for years" but none of them will simply git er done
that's cool but who asked
That said, there are probably a decent amount of AA and indie to "single A" companies that treat their employees well. Simply look into glass door or maybe even try to DM some ppl in those smaller companies and see if they can vouch for the work/life balance.
Drop it off at their door step
unfortunately not something I can do much with
🤷♀️ Either try emailing a diff department or try factory resetting it? Would that matter?
I'll look into it, thanks
I doubt Apple themselves would do anything for you.
my colleagues are working with our coding teams to improve their best practices
and I think they already have this stuff
Otherwise you could get your foot in the door by offering your skills to some volunteer indie game project online. See how you feel about that and provide you a portfolio item
Taj made you the codemonkey you are today?
Can you still ship stuff COD? lol
be like me and spend 6 years of schooling to make cool electronics stuff and become an alcoholic and paint sniffer
lol
sarah are you an EE? I thought you were a chemical engineer
idk why
I became a computer engineer because I wanted to make things :3
I would really like to find out what makes a cybersecurity expert
They are willing to go through mental torture every day
Jk, for IBM it seems like whatever their cybersec teams do is pretty all encompassing, R&D on top of implementation for all the stuff they make
My uncle leads a team that does exactly that
it's a bit of a pain point when working on embedded software
because what happens is you end up with a panicked PM running in and telling you that cybersecurity wants to shake things up
and it turns out the dude is someone that ONLY knows endpoint user-facing system cybersecurity
They were fucking cooking with Watson apparently
and wants to impose ideas that are, frankly, completely bonkers
Watson had some wack ass security shit imbedded in it
Idk my uncles team does pretty good and he didn’t get his cybersec degree until checks calendar 4 months ago and he’s been working there for 16~15 years
I would trust relevant practical experience more than certifications
Yes
the certifications look like snake oil
He started and didn’t know anything which is funny
He got an in with IBM cause apparently he was very annoying and applied for 2 years straight
He knew basic dev stuff
Just nothing about cybersec
Ye my uncles official title is CISSP
Idek what he’s worked on in depth cause he’s not allowed to say
Just know his team did all of the cybersec for Watson, and the AI platforms IBM is making using it
Watson apparently depreciated pretty fast but the stuff they’re cooking rn sounds pretty interesting, IBM is cornering the business side of AI as fast as possible
Who needs multiple money counters when the robot does it and you have one redundant person to verify
Probably after you retire
Idk it seems like as a tool it helps expedite processes but you can’t leave it alone to do stuff on its own
AI literally pulling stuff out of its ass from absolutely nowhere
YOLO solder a new one in
I assume it should be possible, but you'd want to be really good at it
And then the question is whether the system has fuckery around hardware serials where it might reject the new flash
I guess a USB-C thumb drive wouldn't be the end of the world
bet, just cuz it's apple
Amazing how perfectly Apple has proven the whole "Ultimate Power corrupts, ultimately." or w/e
Where 20-25 years ago I was a big apple fan and was hoping they would eventually have some success. Never would have imagined they would overtake Microsoft tho
it won't but you need to be experienced in SMD work since apple dumped a bunch of shit right next to the nands
and have a recovery drive of course to reinstall the os image
Ugh huion is ticking me off
Installed driver on my old pc but for some reason wont detected my tablet
iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus Rumored to Feature Increased 8GB RAM and Wi-Fi 6E Support
ONLY 8gb?!
i would've expected it to have like 12gb or 16gb by now lol
also the fact wifi 7 devices are entering the market (beyond the ripoff gamer crap)
possible that the pros might have closer to that
nice
I will be able to see XMP timings on my AMD board, right? For AM4 specifically.
Cause I am planning to get RAM for AM4 that only has XMP cause its cheaper.
XMP or not doesn't really matter, it's just a convenience for overclocking
Sure, but I do not want to mess with it too much, its why I want to set XMP and forget about it.
That is why I ask if I would be able to see XMP on my AM4 boards bios.
XMP on AM4 = DOCP
so yes it exists
assuming your motherboard supports it
just set it to the one your kit supports, and thats it.
AMD doesn't call it XMP, as thats an intel spec name, but they can read XMP off the kits and use it.
hence why its called D.O.C.P
check your motherboard manual, or have a look through the BIOS to check directly
or check your motherboard manual/website
wtf samsung lol

rip
yeaaa, either the screen adhesive is giving out, or the battery is swelling.. not sure which
I first noticed it from the top, which makes me think it's just the adhesive
YouTube been sluggish lately? Turns out the site's increasing the CPU usage of AdBlock users, and it could be intentional. https://trib.al/0bW0bEm
💖 8 🔁 2
can't say that it feels more sluggish than usual
Youtube has been going downhill in performance for a long time
I watch YouTube mostly on my phone anyway
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e1nDf0GYZU that's a name I haven't heard since... that whole Linus shitstorm

These benchmarks of the Billet Labs Monoblock look at the thermals, construction, installation process, pressure scans, 3D laser scans, and otherwise test the water block vs. the Alphacool Core block for the Intel i9-14900K or 13900K and RTX 4090 FE. Billet's new updates allow it to ...
Video compression
Through something like handbrake
you have to re-encode the video, to a lower bitrate
fuck
hence, Handbrake was suggested
no fucking way you can compress using 7zip to half
video is VERY non-compressible
there was a thought
I think you're gonna need a new HDD
There isn't much reason to buy hard drives nowadays
Mass media storage is one of the exceptions
Though
Yeaah
Actual video compression is your main option afaik
can i just drag and drop and hope it doenst take 2 hours or what
and to be frank i wanna get rid of all of them but its just something that i might need when i go into some um
I hope you're fine with your computer being unusable for a long time
legal stuff
ok whatever
i might just buy another ssd soon
or are the prices up already
i heard sumn if theyre going up idk
oh man. where do i start
Consider an hdd if you see yourself stocking up on video that you need to archive, maybe
You're storing porn or vods, not video games
i
HUH
i edit for a splatoon youtuber and over like
a span of 2 years
its built up too much footage
ill consider
i just hate cable management i fucking
crammed everything in the back panel
xff
i love sff
i wish i got an itx
yea i figured
LOL
i just got an matx
also i needed a second uh
pcie slot anyway
because of capture card for my switch
gotta get a SSI EEB mobo
You can get compact matx enclosures if you look hard enough these days
what the heck is this
LMOA
i am not getting a server board
These are pretty cool ngl
Once they get them more sorted out I think it’ll be viable for super bougie small form factor cases
aite
uuuh
hdd to a hdd speed
what did i expect
fuck
does file transfer continue if you have uuh
put pc into sleep mode
nope
it doesnt
holy crap 721GB?
its like
35 videos ive made
and half of them are like 20 gigs minimum
all 2-3 hour long vods
and i have aniother 800 gigs on my ssd
Jesus
is ur hard drive dead lol
The indicator on it is on
So no
It was trying to detect it earlier and it flashed my HDD files twice and then it disappeared from File Explorer
you should definitely consider learning encoding
try a different sata cable
sata cables are shit and die
It's an external hard drive
L
It's connected to a USB port on top of my PC
try a different USB port at the back
I moved it to the other port and it's back
And my Switch is still charging
Probably was just my drive being dumb because it's old as shit
back it up maybe
Who would want to live in Texas?
I assume it's so they can abuse the more lax labor laws there?
Yes, unironically
Texas is a step above "you can slap manacles on your employees" in terms of worker protection

It's joever.....
Yeah but it's still in Texas
Gotta deal with their nickel and diming revenue scheme, shoddy power grid, bad labor laws, etc.
i get this when i am trying to reinstall the game any fix?
so i uninstalled the game for no reason cause i didnt check for maintenace
afraid so

A lot of EV owners were stuck in a parking lot due to charging woes.

wompwomp
So google really upped CPU Usage eh
for what
if your talking about the adblockers, its a bug with a specific adblocker that got updated
I see
STUPID TESLER EV OWNERS. GET A REAL TRUCK
anyway looks like the problem there is
the chargers are broken
so people went to charge and they couldn'r
presumably too many people went when they were running out
i got ya lol
but yea uh
EV BAD
STUPID EV
STUPID PEOPLE TRYING TO MAKE US ALL DRIVE EVS
DRIVE DIESEL PICKUP TRUCK
yea we'll see
I have a feeling it's going to be a very much sit there eating popcorn moment when we hit 2035
well you guys are different
i'm thinking about the USA
if some numbnuts doesn't take over and enact martial law in ca and outlaw cafe/carb
and fuck our state up
and then make evs illegal
because you just know there's somebody with a brain that fucked up going around
EV's arent the solution tho
its probably the worst solution until solid state batteries get mass produced
just for entertainment's sake
I'll say everyone should be forced to buy an EV 😄
two stroke pure ethanol hybrids is literally the most efficient
more mileage then current battery cells
and for all their fauls
plus you wont be completely fucked after 5-6 years when the batteries dead and there is nobody to recycle it safely
EVs make gas/diesel vehicles seem so gross lmao
there is only one place in north american that properly recycles EV batteries
cause its so fucking expensive to do
diesel is better than gas 😭
unless you do what Mazda is doing with the new Skyactiv motors
super high compression engines
but it's this disgusting black smokey stinky mess
and the only way to make diesel not e that way
is to add emissions equipment that pisses everyone off
not really
also hybrid diesels are proven to be more efficient than gas hybrids even
dude I remember when I was a kid
and we had school and city busses running detroit diesels
those fuckers produced tons of black smoke
im not in a good mood but, what the fuck are you talking about
they already HAVE that
I never said its clean
everyone who ever advertised it was lying off their ass
there are emissions systems on smaller diesels that make them extraordinarily clean tho
until the owner defeats it
make it so they cant register it and they're fined in excess of 5000 dollars
easy fix, crush every car that doesnt have it lmao
no second chances
it's one thing to make laws and it's another thing to enforce them
thats the same mind set as forcing everybody to buy an EV when the base starting price right now is 38,000 USD for anything thats not a death trap
have you seen a beetle or a golf
also, let me explain some shit
the biggest issue with diesel gate was that it killed VW's Diesel Hybrids
VW lied while working on some of the best diesel hybrid systems to be developed, and now that their trust is 0 they dropped the whole program
these were legitmately going to be ground breaking and probably would have gotten people to buy a diesel in the US
especially when a diesel hybrid golf was gonna get more than the prius at the time
also the reason mazda's skyactiv tech is so good is cause it just runs the gas motor like a diesel
it uses high compression created from having an already high cylinder compression and an assisting supercharger to use compression to ignite the fuel, and uses essentially an assisting spark plug to stop engine knock
all Mazda 3's use that tech
Skyactiv-X is the first commercial petrol engine to use homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI), in which the fuel-air mixture ignites spontaneously when compressed by a smaller, separately ignited charge of fuel. This allows it to reach a compression ratio of 16:1 instead of 14.0:1 of previous generation and operate much leaner than a spark ignition engine, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
16:1 is higher than quite a few diesels on the road
which is nuts
ah yes
the rolling lithium and cobalt waste
im not sure about that one
especially in colder climates
maybe with Lucid cause they have vastly superior battery tech
I wish most EV stuff wasnt actual just propaganda at this point 😭
yes
have you been in a Lucid
its exceedingly nicer than a Tesla
with their uhm
fake minimalism
(advanced cost cutting procedures to make maximized profit margins)
and yet a toyota with more physical parts than a tesla costs vastly less with vastly less waste and vastly higher production rates
also the Lucids ride better than Tesla's
which to me matters most
if your suspension is wearing out from the weight of an EV thats extra wear item cost
you can feel it in Tesla's in corners, although I believe they increased the pressure of the suspension a year ago so they dont bottom out
cause bottoming out your suspension constantly creates insane stress, and EV's are predisposed to it since the massive weight
you wont ever reach the limit of cornering on a Tesla
without Michelin Pilot Sport Cup's or something like that
why
what tires are those
if they are a lower treadwear A/T tires you'll destroy your efficiency
the taller sidewalls will help but thats only if you have a decent road tire thats running at higher pressures
cause less rolling resistance
idk about that one
less than whatever the most efficient tire is
I mean I hope I know some stuff about this
I worked at a motorsports shop
I'm not sure
I just know that factory they dont come thin enough or small enough cause they have decided to let them bloat
cause yay
less efficiency
probably a mix
tire shortages for top level sport tires have been on going for a few years now
Porsche uses a few different ones
if only VW made a more cost effective XL1
that car gets 260mpg
carbon fiber chassis two seat diesel hybrid
Why the VW XL1 was a 300mpg Bugatti Veyron. Hypermiling Hybrid Hypercar review.
Why the Volkswagen XL1 was the Veyron of eco cars.
Hypermiling Hybrid Hypercar review.
Hypermiling Hybrid Hypercar review - Volkswagen XL1 is 10yrs old.
The world's most fuel efficient car is 10 years old. Jonny Smith finally gets to drive the extra quirky diesel ...
lightweight cars always get better mileage
less tire width less rolling resistance, overall weight reduction means less rolling resistance
yea thats fair
Falken is pretty good
Mazda has Falkens standard on most of their cars which is interesting
yea thats fair
thats kinda dumb tho with how CAD is
that just makes a lot of non luxury cars all of a sudden taxed for no reason
it should be like 120k CAD
as the cutoff
I can buy an old mercedes and pay like nothing on it here lol
Insurance moment
and then anybody who owns lots of cars gets huge discounts on their rates
except for Rolls Royces
those are the only cars that just cost upwards of 1800 a month to insure
is insurance a federal deal or
there is no way they dont have a multi car rate discount somehow
canada has like
the best loop holes for parts
I can ship parts to canada tax free if they make a car safer
which is most parts for vintage cars
wack
cause some of my customers at the motorsports shop had 30+ cars
and were paying like
15-20 dollars per car per month lmao
even on stuff like 918 Spyders
ah ok
yea
you can insure this for the low low price of 20 dollars a month lul
yea just start an LLC and do the minimum stuff to keep it open
easiest loophole
damn
yea but u could have a XL1
I love me cars that only use carbon fiber cause it saves weight
like the BMW i3
and the i8
its got back "seats"
and a boot
er no
it has a frunk iirc
it makes sense if you use it
im used to people who daily pickups and suv's who are single
and dont ever go anywhere or use their vehicle for its intended use
hes so handsome :3
maybe the Buzz
im not sure about VW at all anymore
their track record is in the pit rn
with reliability and electrical systems
if only the i8 was as fast as it looked lmao
it has 370hp which is good, but also there are cars with 300hp that are faster in every aspect... the porsche Cayman and Boxster base
Japan gets all the good shit and it makes me mad
the current Nissan Skyline sedan
with its special 400R edition
to be honest, I'm not sure what vehicle exactly would fit my daily's intended use
probably a vespa scooter
with a cargo box
A sports car is an immediate no
in fact, a sports car would be even further from the needs of my daily driver than the jeep is
a pickup truck would also be an immediate know, because I've been driving for many years and gotten by fine without a pickup truck
it wouldn't make much sense
my jeep has 8800 miles on it as of this morning
a new plug in Prius lmao
averaging it out, I drive 5.6mi a day since i bought the jeep
I wish that Toyota brought the Veilfire to the US but we will never get it
the plug in gets like 30 miles of range just on electric iirc
even the new Corvette E-Ray would probably not use the engine lmao
the problem with a phev is the gas goes bad if you don't drive it enough, no?
this is like. THE cool dad van in JP right now apparently lmao
it has to burn the gas after so many weeks/months
so I'd end up with my phev burning gas all the time anyway lmao
with a pure ev, especially one with a big battery, well, lithium batteries only last so long before going bad
for me the question would be: would charge cycles kill it?
that looks like an XL prius
I think it depends on the overall way the battery is designed and its capacity
or you could just buy a Lexus LFA for 1.5 million and daily that :)
even though it is a miserable daily car lmao
its a race car
lol
driving a performance car in my area would be torture
there's just too much traffic
I think the ID. Buzz is gonna crash and die
also I almost never touch the freeway
cause VW really do be fucking up basic stuff right now
bit of a shame
idek how you have head leaks out of an engine that comes from the factory with a welded head
but yea
the head is literally WELDED
the ID buzz impressed me with how bad they fucked it up
the weird thing to me
they just weight until they get sued
is the design is only slightly changed from the concept
but that somehow makes it look nothing like a 'volkswagen bus'
like their infotainment software being shit, and no regular buttons for novel ideas like "steering wheel controls"
it looks like a japanese van trying with little effort to look like a vw bus
but then you slide the door open
they knew people would get nostalgic but also knew people that can afford one wont want a VW Bus
so real, thats why you buy anything pre 22
if you buy a Golf, buy a Mk7
it doesnt have the shitty capacitive touch buttons
Ferrari does that which drives me nuts
but they work half the time from what ive experienced
unlike VW
mmm capacitive touch
I was in an SF90, but the Roma has the same buttons and that car is going to sell much more volume so I hope they sort them out a little better
also the start/stop is capacitive touch
so the car can just turn it off
IPAD DASHBOARD
I'd like to feel buttons so I can interact them without looking at them
eyes on the road and not on the screen, after all
even worse
just do the more cost efficient thing
stop trying to sell stuff thats cringe under the guise that its "minimalism"
its a buzz word meant to lure in people who lead a minimalist lifestyle while spending thousands a year on gambling (tech bros)
Tesla cant even use the right words on slides
im losing my mind
yea my mini I didnt even have to look at anything
but I spent most of my weekends driving in that car
like for hours
and hours
and hours
the drive by wire is fine, the yoke is stupid
NO, YOKE! MANDATORY! I MUST HAVE UNPREDICTABLE STEERING!
AND PLAY WITH TOUCHSCREEN WHILE DRIVING
the Leuxs drive by wire is apparently really good
its just crazy tight
Probably the guy who designed the motorsports steering wheels lmao
toyota does put yokes in its racing cars
CaPaCiTiVe tOuCh tUrN SiGnAlS
im less mad at this cause the yoke is dumb but also it still has actual buttons
i thihnk they're both trash
yea that looks cool
I wish tesla's werent blobs tho
they dont have a good sense of style
the only one that did was the Roadster but also that was based off of a Lotus Elise
which is a tiny little handsome guy
Series 1 Elise best Elise
agreed
also the last ever Lotus Elise was given to the person it was named after, Elisa Artioli
i didn't mind the original model S interior though
the S model is more of a car than any other Tesla
except for the way the screen sat there hahaha
unless you were just factoring in the wake behind the car
it might smooth out the wake so cars cant use the slipstream to gain speed
the hub kinda looks like the tip of a penis
downforce or what
if they just say "yeah it makes the aero better" and then not provide an updated COD or downforce number
thats a bit wack
@dire viper what's the ugliest steering wheel you've ever seen in a car though
also you cant really figure out downforce or COD without a full on windtunnel
and CFD only can do so much, its normally wrong
I have no clue
uh
probably a Citroen or something like that
Citroen DS steering wheel
tbf the Citroen DS is like
somehow more advanced than cars 40 years newer than it
which I find insane
it has 4 wheel variable suspension
yea the DS is a friggin cool car
citroen in general did some friggin cool suspension stuff
why does that corvette wheel look sus
yea but its still got pre ww2 design queues and its a post ww2 car lol
its a streamliner
which went away even before the war
also the Citroen DS's brake pedal is a button
that you just
slowly put more pressure on
and then it goes BRAKE
lmao
its very goofy
lol wut
The most advanced production car in the world when it was introduced, the Citroën DS is an icon. On nearly every axis, the car innovated. Not just a little, but outrageous, futuristic, psychedelic stuff which is still outlandish today. The DS is full of clever and weird features, yet somehow, Citroen sold almost a million and a half of them.
In...
yea dont ask
i have no clue
its a Citroen
good steering wheel
perfect for taxi drivers
these videos, BTS with DTS, are some of the most educational on a single specific car
Derek Tam-Scott is a 90 year old in a 30 year olds body
he just knows everything about classic cars down to an unreal level
How much does a Model S cost compared to a Mercedes S class
probably way more
but also
the S class comes with like everything the Tesla does but more
and its an S class
not as bad as I was expecting
you dont really need options in an S Class, if it comes standard with the variable suspension that is absolutely fantastic then you just dont need anything else
it probably doesnt tho
and that probably costs like 5-10k
S class has giant Ipad syndrome but also as long as its not the Maybach it works 99% of the time
the Maybach and top trim AMG models have issues with them for whatever reason, they probably route the ECU through the Ipad and so it has priorty
the EQS is a shit show
its not worth any amount of money
its horrid
it just does not fuckin work half the time
like the new Blazer EV lmao
eh
for the price of a maybach you could get a used Rolls
which sounds kind of weird but
the Rolls would be better value
more expensive insurance and maintenance but... its a Rolls Royce. every single car is coachbuilt
yea but the rolls royce interiors go crazy
they have one guy who hand embroiders all the custom designs lol
are rolls royces expensive to insure?
by a fucking land slide
a 911 GT3 RS is like
200-300 a month
Rolls Royce is like
1500
yea
the GT3 RS is expensive cause its average buyer age is lower
also, its an RS car
probably about 5-10% of the total numbers built will be crashed beyond repair
the Carrera GT was at 20%
20% of the Carrera GT's produced were crashed beyond repairable condition
the GT2 RS' dont get crashed cause nobody that buys them drives them normally, its an investment car. also 700hp in a RWD car thats manual is scary as hell
10-11 years is a long time, so even if we were 3-5 years out before putting in tax breaks and incentives for chargers at apartments and in homes, it should be fine.
ive driven 400hp Porsche 911 RSR's from the 70's and that shit is like heart stoppingly scary
hello throttle lift oversteer?
its not nearly as bad in the RSR
it has fat 11 inch wide rears
and wide fronts
the modern 911's basically dont experience it
they are
the 718 is more worth tho unless you have a lot of money to spend
or you just want a cheap manual 911
they are going down in price finally
problem is you are in Cali
so finding one is an issue cause they get bought instantly
it would be funny to make a decal to replace the brake light one
that says P O O R S C H E
lmao
yea it needs to be a color
red, blue, green, orange, pink, yellow... something. anything. ,not white/grey/black
ha
i love when carmax gets cars with <5k miles
also an actual 718 Cayman/Boxster has the turbo flat 4
the previous gen is almost an identical body style and interior
just comes with a low output flat 6 standard
the flat 4 is slightly quicker but the flat 6 is smoother and has mroe character
the switch to the turbo 4 was scandalous though
that would be the 981 chassis boxster
to me its not a big deal
its still a porsche engine lol
it makes crazy power
it's neat how they hold their value
yea...
they hold too much value in the US
everywhere they cost less somehow
the UK saw all porsches drop about 10%
the GT3 and GT4 dropped like 30%
cause they were
about 50-100k sterling over sticker
and some were brand new from years ago with 0 miles
same in the US
there are GT4 RS' with no miles other than delivery ones
holy crap
this shit is actually
not an awful price
yea for reals
it might have the sport chrono package too
yea it probably does
its got the clock and the mode selector and it looks like it has the extra mode
thats like a 5000 dollar option
and the fancy headlights
and I thinkj it has some of the accent stuff painted body color that doesn't come stock
lmao it also has a carmax decal
yea
if the interior is not black its not stock
no option is free lol
luxury car moment
also the Jaguar F-Type is like cheaper than the Cayman used and im not sure on jags sport car reliability but that may be an option, its not as refined obviously but you can get a pretty aggressive V8 cabriolet or coupe for a competitive price
the C class coupe (I think) AMG is like 180k
and its the same thing but an AMG
the red leather is actually a $2950 option
so its way more than you need for a road car
that's.. not bad lol
holy crap
that cayman may be a steal got damn
the only thing I would want is the factory build sheet first to see whats what
it could be a car carmax got for a good deal through insurance auction or something and they are just selling a base cayman for MSRP despite all the options
that is a common carmax move
my aunt just bought a fully loaded mercedes SUV from carmax and it had like 40k in options and it was 2k over market value which is below msrp
it even had the mercedes puddle lights lol
light up grill
most expensive interior
crystal shit all over the place lol
AH
NO
superman interior
but its inverted
can you get the heritage interior on a cayman?
the houndstooth
that shit looks good on the 911
i always thought this was a weird option
can't have that cheap fuse box plastic ya know
Oh yeah, we make the turbo chargers for those things
the variable vane ones
Cheapest shit you can imagine
r u sure
I am sure
they all use variable vane turbochargers as standard now except for the Cayman and macan
that way it reduces turbo lag
also better torque curve
I think the GT2 RS doesnt either but im not sure
that thing is a turbo boat
Soo... what variable vane has to do with the fact we manufacture it?
variable vane is still expensive to manufactur
Nah
yes
The turbo itself is expensive but it's not expensive to manufacture
And I guarantee the quality of the materials used is slightly questionable
that $890 leather book wallet tho
You can question it all you want, I work at the damn factory and get face to face with the Porsche logo lmao
Plus got a whole slew of documents about where the chargers go and who buys them
can you get me one of those $800 manual wallets? XD
I work at the turbo charger factory
Borg Warner?
Not the porsche one
thats who was making the VGT's
Bingo
last I knew
But we write it as one word
they arent shotty if they dont fail cause the VGT's are under above the average RPM afaik
making that twin turbo i6 thingy
they last at 1500hp
so they are good enough
the 2500hp 911 in the UK runs stock turbos
different map on them tho
plastic turbo impeller 😄
I'm not sure if we manufacture for the UK 911 too or not
all Porsches are built in germany
Multiple locations manufacture various shit
that I know
you probably send them to Porsche Motorsport North America tho
they build clubsport and the actual cup cars
so like the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport would have them
or the EVO
Yeah but usually Audi and Porsche chargers come from Hungary and Kirchemboladen? Kibo
oh ok
yea im not sure about Audi
Audi is mostly trickle down porsche parts that they somehow make worse
Audi is the parent company of Porsche
yea
VW Group owns Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini and a whole host of other companies
the Lamborghini Urus engine is the V8 from a Porsche Cayenne, but the top trim Cayenne is faster than the Urus for less money heh
yera but
We got like... 5-6 chargers for the VW group just on one side
also the Audi SUV's that use the Cayenne V8 have engine issues but neither the Cayenne or Urus does
they're all Audi chassis in the end
The other side manufactures chargers for Volvo, BMW, the PSA group (french) and iirc for GM too
its just the Porsche doesnt use hardly any Audi electronics lol
they fail too often
(the Urus is also victim of the Audi electrical issues)
yea but it's like how the audi version of the taycan is ugly
yea PSA would be cool if they spent money on engine development
the Mini Coopers had shitty engines cause BMW outsourced the development to PSA
until 2022 where they all got a BMW engine
mini coopers get more garish every year though
the minis look the same
trap car?
like
Wdym
oh you're one of those people
they are so bad
Huh?
trap is a term used for a hot minute
I hate the tail lights
trap/clapped
Fck mini coopers. Where are my regular coopers
no, they just attract that kind of buyer
cause Lamborghini buyers are all idiots for some reason
they attrack trashy everybody
unfortunately
cause things like the Huracan STO and the new Revuelto are fantastic
The existence of a Mini Cooper implies the existence of a Wumbo Cooper
because trashy people like flashy cool looking stuff
yea fair
they aren't country club people who try to play that stupid game of how can I make $400,000 look like $20,000
But yeah, if you buy audi cars, chances the turbo in it was manufactured by my BorgWarner plant, can't guarantee I made it because I'm not the only one working there lmao
also a Lamborghini is louder and more garish than a Porsche or Aston Martin
or even a Ferrari lol
Ferrari's got quieter again
wearing a wrinkled dress shirt that looks like it's from wal-mart, but really it's a $900 shirt made by a custom designer in palm beach
if it goes out I know who to yell at
Feel free
and a like $300,000 watch
while they sit around in bermuda shorts and loafers with no socks
when will borgwarner make the top fuel superchargers
but they drive a 30 year old g wagon
I want 90psi supercharger
its hard to find a watch that costs that much let me tell you
or whatever
cause its literally only a Rolex
the subtle flex
I do remember however when we got a customer complaint from Porsche because they got a customer complaint and that's a big no no
where the only way that you know they're flexing, is if you are also rich
lol lmao
porsche didnt care until the late 90's
at my last job we specialized in brake restorations and we have pictures from the 80's and 70's on how they assembled the cars
holy crap
they just threw shit in bins and then chucked it on the car even if it was all fucked up lmao
and nobody was the wiser
also have this Ausi only Mini window van
this thing goes hard
Basically dude bought a new Porsche at the Porsche shop whatever it is called. And after driving for like a kilometer, he had to walk back because the whole car stopped, the turbo malfunctioned because someone forgot to put in a tiny component that prevented oil getting where it wasn't supposed to. Somehow it passed our testing and then Porsche's and finally gave in.
Yeah like we got one machine testing the core assembly, one machine that tests the whole charger and then Porsche tests the whole thing after assembly
ye
And it passed it all
wild
we had that happen once with an engine at my last job
we rebuilt it (was like a 30k engine build) and it ran fine on the engine stand and dyno
and once it was in the car it was fine
and then randomly it decided to smash a valve into a piston
no timing issues or nothin
never figured out why
Yowch
it was for a very expensive car too
914/6 with a privateer racing team kit
so it was a 914/6GT basically
basically this
my favorite most hated car
hes such a nice little guy :3
Is there a mouse with a lot of side buttons (6+) but also a good sensor for FPS games? My Logitech G600s mousewheel has slowly started to give.
But it is not being made anymore so I cannot replace it.
the Naga Trinity has the option of up to 12 buttons but it weighs A LOT
also im not sure what classifies as a good sensor
whatever 'most advanced 5G optical sensor' means
logitech g600 has a laser sensor
i have a naga trinity and it feels good to use
just heaaaaaaaavy
even with the different sidepanels its heavy
aren't razers cheaply made and give out easily or
my g600 is still OK and its 7yrs old
I use both a razer keyboard and a mouse
the only issues ive had are the keyboard but I think its my fault
I spilled on it
:(
otherwise ive had them 4 years
no issues
theres an ecosystem living inside my keyboard lol
and yes some of their products are cheapo
my naga trinity and huntsman keyboard are both first gens
hm
I will wait for more opinions
but razer stuff does seem to have a lot of
buttons
too many sometimes
sweet jesus thats alot of monitor
yea lol
yo @deep sapphire https://old.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/197j34t/the_packout_pc/
Haha
Makita version when
Greato, the pc is finally in germany and on its way to the company
Also i feel like i should replace the hdd on my old pc since its like very slow
ya if youve got the spare cash ssds are pretty nice even if theyre not m.2s
I would have like a 500gb sata which I used to download games on in my old pc. I could try emptying it but I'd rather buy a new ssd.
Ya Im on my 3rd custom pc build and starting with my second I went all ssd and m.2s.
Back during World of Warcraft: Legion I got my first ssd and it was a game changer
My current build has a single Western Digital Black SN850X 4 TB M.2 and its pretty great but Im used to the speed it provides. I need a second drive soon and might go with a high capacity hdd for some stuff like my music and videos
My last build had a single m.2 that was only 500GB and it was pain alotting it to whatever games could benefit from it the most and my operating system
If prices were what they are now I would never get a m.2 smaller than 1 or 2 TB. Preferably 2 or more
This is in the United States though so circumstances may vary of course
ouuhh noice
