would only go from a 5700x to 5800x3d if you found a super good bargain price, yeah
Let's see those 8800 x3d chips you cowards
The 7950x3d is bad because they decided it should only have one ccu lmao
Based cost cutting measure
I have two friends with 4080's, one has a 5800X3D and one has a 7800X3D, and pretty much they run every game at the limit @_@
Maybe the 8950 will have both ccus enabled
Couldn't you splice on another end to plug into the mobo?
I would hope so after spending $3k on a PC
My friend went from an 8700K to a 7800X3D with his 3080, so his FPS is pretty spicy as well. I have the 13900K so not quite so spicy, but still overkill for a lot of games
hype
299 for a decent gpu
At least you’re not me paying 499 for 8gm of ram
Or was it 599
the asus dual rx 6600 isnt supposed to be 280 or more
If they're on 1080p only, yeah should be decent
I just play on 1440p 8gb is enough somewhat
yea that's like a $150 card
even on asus's main site they are charging 280 for it kek
OC mode: Up to 2491 MHz (Boost Clock)/up to 2064 MHz (Game Clock)
Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure.

get an xfx?
wait did i make a mistake
could use 1 of these sits for a refference regarding performance
wait fuck
even though the 4060 isnt on there, i assume its somewhere where the 3060 range is at or so
i had a 3060 with 12gb of vram on that list
yea i'm not a fan of asus amd cards lol. not since the vega 56/64
the pc bros on reddit told me to get the 4060 instead
its fine i can cancel the order
i already did
yknow what, i woulda just got your money and bought you the gpu instead

doing research is a huge skill improvement tho
but yes, the 4060, supposedly outdoes the 3060 regarding performance, only downside is 4gb less vram, unless you do games that eats up more than 8gb
hmm, then i guess check back in here and there
ok got the email saying it was cancelled
just got to wait for the money to be refunded
I'll have to rebuy it
well at least your learning which is good
PC building is pain
it can be
Are there even any games that use 12gb VRAM
Never planned on playing it
and yet you can run 2077 with a 4060, just need to play around with the settings
LAST OF US?
I ran 2077 with a 3050
and 8gb ram
my laptop didn't blow up somehow
another issue regarding vram chugging is optimization issues supposedly
more vram = possible bad optimization since things are prob freshly built
at this point imma just roll with an rx 6700 xt/non xt, 6800 xt/non xt or any of the 7000 series
maybe not the 7600, possibly going for that 7600 xt after its released

rx 6700 is equal to 3060
and the 6700 has 10gb of vram
So it's just a better version
Lmao
Nvidia has a better control panel and more support though imo
the 6700 xt seems like the sweet spot for me tbh
i like vsync
well there does exist a 4060 ti that has 16gb of vram
out of my price range!
can you stretch another $50?
so I'm not sure why but
today when I was taking screenshots in game, the screenshots are not appearing in my folder
even though I've specified the destination
gets stick drift and dies
Just finished playing some MHW. Wow the difference from 60 to 144 hz is incredible
This is probably a dumb question, but does hertz effect screenshot quality
nah
i mean a screenshot is just grabbing a frame
Fair
so it might make that frame clearer
I appreciate the help. Always a very helpful person
lol
Make sure your screenshot key for the game isn't also used by reshade if you use that

Welcome to the official Apple YouTube Channel. Here you’ll find news about product...
Hi if u only have chrome running and the temp is 57C
is this hot
not my pc but helping someone figuring out why is her pc making noises
this is the power of Apple Vision
Depends on specs
But 57 is not hot
57 for just chrome is normal, anything above 80 is bad when gaming
Did I see Asus is making a 1440/480 oled display?
Is it finally happening? I can have high refresh rates and true black calibration?

gimme all that without burn-in
and good HDR performance but i guess that wont matter too much anyway since HDR is doomed to be absolute ass
Hdr is such a gimmick in video creation
You can't really reproduce the dynamic range of a thermonuclear reactor with a couple of led backlights
Color space is far more important than wasting time trying to make fuckbright point light sources to meet hdr 1600 or whatever
These are apparently LG panels so they should have pixel management baked in
Haven't heard many issues with LG panels eating shit from burn in or half life
its the difference between just cranking up the brightness ans saturation and calling it HDR, and actually working on it to deliver a properly good image. too many fail at it.
but its definitely really nice to have when it works right
not like thats ever gonna happen on PC though because apparently HDR is impossible here even though even my little chromecast can dynamically, quickly and automatically change between SDR and HDR depending on content type
I think the main issue is that you can't get it bright enough to actually achieve the contrast ratio
Since the high brightness also involves pulling up the adjacent black level
You can't get perfect extinction from polarizer film
it still remains a guaranteed chance that it will happen, it only gets delayed further unfortunately. static stuff like taskbars etc will still eventually burn in and i just cant justify spending 1k+ for it then.
plus all the other OLED issues, like near perfect response times that make for example 30fps content look really choppy and the limited brightness of OLED.
I mean, crt lasted for decades with phosphor decay and burn in wasn't a big deal unless you left it on for like, years with the same imagr
Weird to pick on oled as if burn in was never an issue before
Crt was never smart enough to have pixel management either, screen savers were literally developed to counter decay lmao
its not that bad with proper panels anymore. sure there is OLED than gives you perfect blacks next to bright elements, but OLED cant get very bright in general.
then there is miniLED with their thousand dimming zones which works alright, but not as good as OLED etc
its not even just an issue with brightness imo, since you already profit a lot from increased detail in just very bright or very dark scenes.
but there is just so much "HDR" content that does nothing but artificially boost colors
I really like my LG ultrawide
which one send link
I cranked up the digital vibrancy through the Nvidia control panel and it looks gorgeous now
That's because hdr is baked into the rec. 2020 spec so a lot of people just jack up the color saturation and claim they're hitting the uhd/rec 2020 compliance
LG 34GN850
dunno
there are many LG ultrawides
Burn in was an issue with those though. Same with the other display techs like plasma etc.
I'd just argue people didn't care as much with CRTs
once you see one post it here so that we can look it up
cause there are many models and they all vary
yeah there was a lot and it took me a long time to decide on one
but I ended up going with the 34GN850 and I am very happy with it
thanks to the good advice of everyone here
4090 and ultrawide. Really living that gamer dream

what?
I will be happy once my new GPU arrives and I can finally take advantage of my 240hz display lol
Can't wait until I can lower my expenses so I can save up and upgrade away from this damned Samsung
prices at the time when I checked them
man the passing of my mother really made me realize more than ever that you should do things when you have the opportunity because you may not have the opportunity to do them in the future
keeping the prices updated constantly would be too much work
so I am living that gamer dream while I still can
Serves as a good reference for how fucked the prices become
https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-FreeSync-Compatible-3840x2160-Response/dp/B083GRVFXN/ref=sr_1_15?crid=26N6ENZMK94T4&keywords=32%2Binch%2Bmonitor%2B4k%2B144hz%2Bflat&qid=1695768124&sprefix=4k%2B144hz%2Bflat%2Bmonitor%2Caps%2C104&sr=8-15&th=1 i was thinking around this
31.5" SS IPS 3840 x 2160 4K Display Gaming Monitor 144Hz Refresh Rate, 1ms (GTG) Response Time, Supports FreeSync Premium Pro 8-bit color / 90% DCI-P3 / 123% sRGB / VESA DisplayHDR 400 Connect and control multiple devices with KVM OSD Sidekick, PiP /PbP, Dashboard, Black Equalizer, Game Assist, A...
preferably I want my new GPU before china decides to do anything too rule 4, cause then prices will skyrocket
idk if this is any good though
cause gpus are all made in china and taiwan

its in my recommended pin
its fairly good
4K is still fairly pricey
it has quite a few backlit zones
and good response times
it was on sale when I did the research for the pin

also i had a ultrawide 1080p and the contrast was really low so thats my worries
i couldn't even see in dark games
the IPS I list in the pin all have mostly around 1.100 contrast, as is standard for IPS displays
okay
I have basic HDR and while it does look impressive, usually Windows has to simulate HDR because most games don't natively support it
and it is completely bugged in the one game I have that does natively support it, Hitman
and IOI Interactive never fixed that
assclowns
I would say that HDR is a nice to have but shouldn't be a deal breaking factor
i have "hdr" on my samsung and its ass 99% of the time
many games just look worse than SDR or dont do anything but be brighter
my TV on the other hand really shines with proper content
maybe ill watch movies with it idk
watching HDR or high res movies on PC is still a pain in the ass because of all the DRM shit etc
Satisfactory looks really nice with HDR, even if Windows has to simulate it
then you have services like netflix who force you to use edge or their windows app which doesnt work properly half the time or is still limited to lower quality because reasons
the upgrade to UE5 worked out so well for Satisfactory, the game looks so much prettier with the new lighting model
come over, lemme show you good HDR
its funny how youtube out of all the places has better HDR support than services like netflix, amazon, disney etc
do the newer gpus work better in 4k i heard?
ofc because they are generally faster
how do you gamers buy a whole new pc plus a 4k monitor
well
I go to the price aggregator site
look up the parts I want
and reviews on competing products
and then decide
based on price, performance and quality
I still live with my dad and have a high end IT job, that is how

i work a fulltime job to save up and buy stuff
I get 338 a month and somehow have enough saved up to buy PC parts but I still have to think really hard on what I buy cause money does not come from trees
i remember living home... i had so much saved up
then everything changed when the renting-your-own-place nation attacked
why is furniture and wood so expensive
privacy though. yay
yeah living alone has its perks
in my last few years in college I lived alone in a dorm
but there were also times when I was going crazy with loneliness
living together with someone else in my case means no rent and splitting all the costs in half which really drives cost of living really, really low
fair
ffxiv is my fulltime job
i feel that though i was lonely already when i was still at home because i saw my dad only briefly every other day anyway
netherlands has quite a few gamers from what I know
I have encountered many ppl from there
yeah this is not a bad place to be for that kind of stuff
Gamescom was so much fun, I want to go to more conventions
most of my friend i know are from NL
iirc there's another Dutch person in this server but I forgot whom
it was fun but so full and expensive aaa
true, and you went on the press day and we went on Thursday
I don't want to imagine what it was like on Friday and Saturday
later in the day it became almost impossible to move around, especially in the hall that had the Genshin booths
yeah that special day for special people for which they literally started selling special tickets and giving away hundreds of them so it was incredibly crowded...
and you didnt have the fancy events because they were all planned for the public days
I didn't bother going to the special events
ok wow it wasnt that full for us at least. super crowded but not that crazy
my brother wanted to see the Genshin concert, but the band got stuck in the Kölner Stau

they really have to think about increasing the size of the convention honestly. and perhaps making it last another day or two
so after half an hour or so he just gave up and we went to the back of the complex for the shopping area and the indie booths
because its getting too crazy
it's the biggest of its kind in Europe, I think
yeah
yeah it has kind of outgrown Koelnmesse
you really notice that its not big enough anymore though because of how incredibly crowded it gets during those days. even if you sit on the ground its sometimes hard to find a spot to rest
although what I think also contributed was the end of the pandemic countermeasures
i dont think so
i remember going a bunch of years ago, like 2016? and it was on a public day and it was so full you could barely move inbetween the halls after 13:00 passed
2015 or 2016 was the year i went the first time
back then they still had outdoor events like a motocross stunt show etc
oh 2017
but yeah that was also on thursday, after 13:00 it was almost impossible to move between halls
no wait.. huh
I want to go again next year but I will change my approach completely
2015! it was when heavensward released because i remember SE having a show there with yoshiP and they gave away a bag with heavensward merch
I'm going to do the big halls with the popular booths first, then do the smaller booths after that, and only go to the shopping area last, when I'm out of energy for anything else
oh shit I think I remember seeing that on a stream
that was right before I started playing FFXIV
yeah for sure thats the proper approach. early in the morning to the big booths because they will then also still have stuff to give away
like the granblue posters i got were limited to 5000 for the entire gamescom, they were gone really quick
and the cinema booths for warhammer space marine and banishers had posters too, and they were already half empty after the first viewing session
i was late because the fallout 4 preview took ages so they didnt have any merch left, but an SE employee took pity and found me a heavensward lanyard at least
Still have it
cool
Phew microsoft edge made me think my gpu is about to die cause i kept getting artifacts when using edge but turns out it was just due to hardware acceleration.
edge takes up a lot of ram for no reason
probably just prefetching stuff, there's an argument that unused ram is wasted ram
true
all the serious builders ive talked to just say get 32 gigs of whatever is fastest
*that your mobo and cpu support
It’s that copilot AI. I think it’s always running in the background. Along with any bloat that comes with it
erm
where is the agreement clause where they get all rights to use your recorded voice
or just buy a tv and don't turn that dumb voice shit on
just buy a big ass monitor
I need to buy a secondary monitor
16 is edging min reqs if you do any gaming at this point, yeah
why ppl say mobo and not just mb
Mo(ther)Bo(ard)
I dont just type it either, I frequently say mobo
which just sounds better then mb
wow you guys must really busy
huh?
saving time
its like that meme of that guy crying because he typed "laugh out loud" except from "lol" and he thought of the time he wasted
feet
someone keeps changing my name
otherwise ive done nothing today other than watch video essays and look up recipes for food
Is it worth to upgrade to a new GPU in the near future based off the games in my steam library https://steamcommunity.com/id/Shiba22/games/?tab=all
What’s your current gpu
like last night, uh, nothing wrong with an 8gb gpu, but 12gb is practiclly the new norm

ye me buying a 8gb 3070 then realizing later that oh its not enough these days
i got mine last year
i suppose it will still be good until next year
It's good I cancelled the order tbh
I can get the 3060 instead
It's cheaper
10gbs on my 3080 isn't even enough tbh
CPu wise it should be fine even for AM4 Ryzen
GPU end.....
if you run latest AAA in max, 1440p, 140hz or something w streaming on the side
not enough for what?
yea ok i'll concur, if you're trying to do that... maybe not a 3070
but uh try it anyway
tfw 6GB fall out that fast
I want to yeet my old rig 1660 6gb to my cousin as a sort of minecraft/steam machine
I'm hesitant to get a 1440p even with my 3080 bc in the latest AAA games on ultra even with DLSS I'm only getting like 90fps 1080p
Really don't wanna be hovering around 50-60fps
really?
ive heard they're fine on 1440
idk I never run games at full anymore
even if I can
Ngl after having le deck I kinda not really care much about gaming in max
Custom high is where am at
3080 should be fine w custom high ya
i don't want the fan noise anyway
Headset blocks out fan noise anyway
Okay this is f+cking me up and i have no idea whats up
For a strong strong while now, my Discord app
Has not ever uploaded faster. It has been super sluggish in uploading any sort of image
I cant find anything that seems to affect it... but what makes it bizarre is
i have FAST UPLOAD through the Browser.
THe Browser Discord, does not have this issue
Discord moment
Discord design is jank? NOWAI
I know on mobile, half the time I try to share into discord from android it simply hangs and spins. But if I paste it directly into discord it works fine
every once in a blue moon uploading on the windows app will cause the loading squares thing to display for everything, but that's only when Discord's CDN is having issues.
It probably has something to do with your router or maybe packet shaping from the ISP
via the browser the uploads are probably via port 443 or 80, but maybe the mobile app is something else and gets blocked
Or maybe traffic from the browser is considered fine, but since discord app is separate, it has different firewall rules
Any idea how i could finangle that?
Add a firewall rule in windows I guess specifically for discord
Or maybe check your router.
1am tho I gotta zzzz
Dyson heater
After intense degree of digging in
I got nothing
ILl just use the browser to upload
its so stupid ;x;
Grumblegrumble
lol i have never run the discord app on my computer
i swear something in my cablemess that i hid away under my table must be interferring with other cables
ever since i moved my desk and redid my setup with better cablemanagement etc, i have been having issues with my keyboard losing connection and power regularly, same also with my controller
and everytime i turn my dac etc on or off, it also looses connection
and when my gf gets up from her chair, it also loses connection now

first i thought its the usb switch that suddenly broke or something but it also happens with stuff directly going to the pc
yeah that sounds like interference issues
the chair one is a dead giveaway, because the gas springs in certain chairs can cause static electricity when they move
I used to have that issue too, whenever I got up from my chair it would knock one of my monitors out for a sec
it reliably knocks her own monitor out whenever she does
but this is annoying because i dont really know how to fix this
dont really wanna let all cables dangle wildly again
I don't know how much you can do about it tbh other than get cables with better isolation or try to add some manner of isolation to the cables
in my case the weak spot was a converter from micro-DP to DP that I stopped using after my work changed to a new generation of laptops
this a good price for a monitor if all I care about is 1920x1080 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B17KHCQN/ref=syn_sd_onsite_mobileweb_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&pd_rd_plhdr=t&aref=FdH8VNGwl4
Did you pull one of the cables so it lost its shielding and the ground is floating on the connector alone?
If you're getting em interference that would be my first stop
i did check for damages in general along pretty much all my cables but could not find anything
if all you care about is 1080p resolution then you can get any cheapo monitor that people regularly throw out tbh
May be internal damage, usb has dogshit strain relief and the connector can break pretty easily
Yeah but the cheapo ones don't have 100Hz refresh rate
Is that a required spec though?
If you're xxxtreme gamen you want higher refresh rates, if you're just doing like, spreadsheets 60 hz is fine
eh even just for office usage i would absolutely go higher than 60. its not required but its definitely a better, smoother experience
but you also said you just care about 1080p
because if you actually care about more than just that, then there are way better picks for budget monitors
There's also a bunch of last gen oleds that should be coming down in price since the new ones are disgustingly fast and coming very soon
Dell says they have their high speed oled coming out on the 11th
of january
I had a crt for like 9 years
Do yall just not turn the display off when you're not in front of it?
I want a display that lasts 10 years, not 3 because my game UI or desktop burned into the display
Maybe I'm just old enough to remember ancient technology left by the old ones
I mean OLED burn in is enough of a concern that people will disable their computer task bars
I turn it off when I go to bed and my monitor goes to sleep mode if I am not on it by itself
Has anyone tried to kill an oled with the Taskbar?
with the might of my task bar I shall kill thee /s
👍
Hard to say. I dont really care because I can wait on an oled. Im just saying what people do
I feel like people are overestimating how fast the thing will die and taking way too much caution
if I bought something for 1000 ofc I would be very careful
The very first gen oleds died mad quick but like, comparing 2010 technology to 2024 technology is a weird choice
Like, the closest comparison to oled is based crt and the phosphors on late model crts lasted basically forever unless you had it running 24/7 for five years
oldie
I got my first pc like 15yrs ago and leds were still popular back then so I never had a crt display
You missed out on instant response times and genuine black levels
ya my first monitor was a crt
Even oled can't really touch the contrast ratio of a crt
bring back crt
Crt is based af but the tubes are so annoying to make
There was some kind of weird crt-alike using carbon nanotubes as electron emitters to replace the vacuum tube
I've been told that tech got stuck in patent hell because why should we ever have nice things
I think RTings did something similar with OLED TVs playing CNN nonstop
Yeah, how long to kill a 2021 oled?
i still remember that big chungus crt that my whole family used in the living room
not sure if it was a 30inch+ screen or so, but cant forget it

they were so ungodly heavy
Tubes are a pain
https://vxtwitter.com/jupy314/status/1745151803346550836?s=20
Feel like I should share this PSA. Because discord does things w/o telling us.
And CrT displays are very much susceptible to burn in much more so than OLED’s would be
We still use tubes in some stuff in audio recording and they are a pain
Some singers like old school tube powered condenser mic’s but they are such a pain
You can’t just send 48v Phantom power
You need a special power supply for them
Far less convenient than just plugging an xlr in to the desk
Don't you love when they add new features and default to opting everyone into the privacy-breaking things!
Or software that when it patches, wipes your settings and defaults to all on!
Mmm. Data harvesting.

This news recap covers some of the early and larger CES news stories, including AMD's RX 7600 XT (following-up the CPU coverage we already posted), DeepCool's mini-ITX & micro-ATX cases and new coolers, the mini-ITX NC...
CRTs are not based af. They are a technology with their own drawbacks. You know how people complain about GPU coil whine? Most CRTs produced a similar noise. Then the image geometry is almost never consistent - even on a screen that was running perfectly fine, sometimes the right wallpaper or right scene would cause warping on the edges. Sometimes you would set things perfect for 1280x1024 and then drop to 1024x768 and you'd need to adjust everything all over again.
Not to mention the things are giant and heavy and produce a lot of heat and used a fair amount of power.
I still hear the crt whine in my head like tinnitus
yeaaaa
also 60hz on a crt is an awful awful thing
also don't fall for those 'gaming crt' scams on craigslist ro ebay or whatever
people asking >$100 for some really shitty CRTs lol
like every now and then i'd see a post on reddit from a gen z kid who has like, a really nice ultrawide
... and next to it they've got some shitty 95 CTX that only does 640x480 lol
unfortunately those are probably the ones most likely to survive lmao
the high end sony trinitrons always had issues with unreliable flyback transformers and stuff
I think mine could do up to 85hz
yea that isn't terrible lol
idk if ctx made good stuf... probably
I always thought the ones that said Low Radiation in the corner were funny
ooooo
at 1280x1024 that's a very meh resolution but it's a 17" and
their price is super reasonable for a friggin new monitor
i wonder where the sudden influx of brand new HP CRTs came from because I see some other sellers too
Thing is, while my monitor could do 1600x1200, the UI would be tiny then and couldn't be adjusted at the time AFAIK. And GPU perf wasn't great so you weren't gonna run at that res anyways or you would get 15fps and it might even only have been for 30hz then too
So from what I remember I always kept it at 1024x768
and depending on how good you could get geometry
you might only get 11" of actual stuff
640x480 on that is kinda livable lol
I had a 19" monstrosity that weighed 72lbs
yea usually if your screen could do 1600x1200 and it wasn't a >$1000 21" it probably only did it at 60hz
which was like
LAN parties were always fun with that
vomit inducing
That must vary by person bc 60hz on CRT was fine to me, it was below that where it got bad
for me it was pretty hard to live with lol
My friend defended 60hz LCDs and scoffed at my 120hz LCD ... until he finally sat down and did an FPS game on it for awhile and tried going back to his monitor then lol
I have a similar issue with oldschool fluorescent tube lighting
if I can see the bare tubes, and I look at the tubes, it makes me nauseous lol
especially when the ballast is old and not working right and they're more likely to flicker/pulse
I remember playing games on my old CRT PC and then getting distracted by the static on the screen lmfao
Static?
yeah on the screen
ever put your hand on one?
it's kinda tingly
I used to stick paper notes to it and stuff
Uhh... how close were you sitting to the TV that you regularly had static be an issue heh
But yes, rubbing your hand across the entire thing and getting a fistful o static
I thought you meant like the static was shocking you just trying to use it normally to play games.
nah
Was going to say, just how techno-cursed are you heh. The microwaves make so much sense now /s etc.
I will say
I am good at tech
but the reason I am is because I've always had tech issues
You like the tech but the tech does not like you
exactly
It’s old technology very good reason why outside of niche market it’s mostly dead
I remember an old crt tv when I was growing up
And how different it was when we switched to an lcd
The thing about the refresh tho was that FPS was independent of the refresh, so unlike an LCD it absolutely helped running things at higher FPS
Like in the early 00s when LCDs were still super garbo, you'd still probably game on a CRT and ppl would do those Quake3arena tests with configs to get like 300-600fps even if it was 75hz
Instant illumination, true black, actual contrast that could be calibrated independently instead of sliding the dynamic range around
Oled is close but the way the pixels are designed kills them at different rates
Good old mev = photon wavelength
still it's goddamn tubes
tubes are a pain
and they are big
and very power hungry
They are big because physics hates you
Silly physics, it's like the laws of the universe or something aren't to be violated.
More or less
You can make an electron gun for a crt in air, but the activation voltage is something absurd like multiple megavolts
Vacuum tubes just bring that spontaneous emission down to something manageable
Welp my gpu seems to be broken now
I played pso2 ngs today and suddenly my pc restarted
Now the gpu refuses to power on or atleast sometimes powers on
damn
you could try reseating it
like see if the power connector is properly attached and such
warframe
Warfeet*
ya CRTs are something to experience but not necessarily that great to live with every day.. but hey some people like em.
i really wanna play tempest on a vector crt
they have for a long long time
strix tax
since like, 2006.
they are one of the big GPU AIB partners
Asus is also a Taiwanese company
So getting the chips from tsmc is even easier for them
Man I'm so out of the loop
Nvidia releases the general design
Then allows other companies to make their own versions for a fee often with slight alternations
it used to be, that neither Nvidia, nor AMD, actually "made" cards.
they created a "reference" design, that then partners used as a basis for their own.
i still remember some old single slot GPU reference cards id seen in pictures online
from like, 15+ years ago
The drivers nvidia releases are generic designed to work with any model of their card
But usually the specific manufacturer has drivers optimized for their own changes to the design
what???
no graphics card vendor releases their own custom drivers. ever
if you are thinking about laptop graphics card drivers, from like 10 years ago, sure
but im pretty sure those disappeared ages ago
yeah this isn't dell mobo territory
you USED to have vendor specific graphics card drivers, like when AMD graphics WASNT AMD graphics, it was ATI
the thing I find obnoxious about agile is it works easier/best when the team makes their own tickets, but a lot of people just can't be assed to do it, kinda like returning carts to the stall in the parking lot lmao
Hmm okay
I think the issue might lie with the psu of my pc
Cause when the gpu is powered, it works completely fine and when I monitor the temperatures, they are also low.
but maybe its the gpu
I really cannot tell
I hate HP so muuuuuch, God damn piece of shit company
I don't even remember how often this piece of shit Notebook froze
And their dumbass drive encryption software that takes 3 extra days before finally realizing my password changed
guhhhh i dont trust amazon with mailing a whole ass gpu
You mean a wholeass brick in a GPU box?
theres just a lot that could go wrong
I always ordered mine thru Newegg or BHphoto
also amazon delivery times are ass
i usually get my stuff from amazon 1-2 days after i ordered them
do any of y'all know a good plugin for Twitter to remove stuff like the trending tags box and random recommended posts that I am not asking for
i fucking wish
man I just want to be able to use Twitter for the good stuff
without constantly being at risk of seeing the opinion of a 12 year old
or a cryptobro with a blue checkmark
Discord is laying off 17 percent of employees 😔 In an internal memo, CEO Jason Citron said the company grew headcount too quickly over the past few years https://www.theverge.com/2024/1/11/24034705/discord-layoffs-17-percent-employees

I never would have guessed with the feature bloat
Nvidia trash
Are you having issues with your PC restarting at load?
Most of which only clutter the experience further, or aren't used at all
everyone laying people off to make the Q1 look great for the new year
lmfao so real!
I dunno about looking great, but it's easy to keep bloated staffing levels when money is free
Now that money is expensive for the first time in like 15 years, they're all going into shock.
honestly I don't know that it has anything to do with anything
other than
"Hey if Elon Musk did it and Twitter still works, we should give it a try, besides they've got github copilot so it shouldn't be that bad, right? Right?"
the narrative that suddenly a lot of tech companies are in danger of disappearing just screams BS to me
They're not going to disappear, but when money has been free for 15 years, a lot of them did shit you simply wouldn't in a more fiscally normal economy.
So I'm not surprised there has been a large correction.
plus the insane spending that went on during the pandemic
things moved way too rapidly and job growth was so overly padded
Sustained zero interest borrowing is the gift that keeps on giving (to billionaires)
Such a massive wealth transfer done in plain sight
So much fucking money was printed in the pandemic
But inflation numbers are now under control
Oh yeah. How many trillions did they make over covid? Fleeced ppl good...
I mean going back idk 5 years
There was a lot of talk about this being a shit show 5 years down the road
Hello guys, i don't know if this is the proper place to ask but, before i reinstall windows 10 (reformat) my ping is 50ms, but after reinstalling it went up to 150ms
I tried using mudfish vpn and i got 50ms, without vpn 150ms... is it my pc having a problem? or isp problem?
I did all troubleshooting for 4 hours now, i ran out of ideas. please help thank you.
ping to what though?
ping 124.150.157.158 -t (japan elemental/data center)
wait, is it because of the earthquake that it cause network issues?
maybe, it might be some kinda route between you and that server. maybe try another server.
Stuff that is closer geographically will affect your ping.
in the case of the vpn, it changes the route your computer uses to talk to that server
that route may have fewer nodes or better nodes, so lower ping time
it's more likely something between your ISP and the server you're pinging that is making that 150ms ping
if mudfish works it's unlikely that it's anything you have control over, try pinging other sites and see what you get
it's definitely a routing thing not your PC really
Thank you. Gonna contact my isp then.
your isp is just gonna tell you it's on your end or some stupid shit and change nothing
FF14's peering/routing has always and probably always will be bork
Japan and the internet, right? /s
likely the internet is affected w the recent earthquake
The datacenter is in Tokyo though, and the earthquake was nowhere near there.
FF14 datacenters have always had weird routing issues where certain ppl basically can't play at all without a VPN to sort that out.
Or like the patch downloading quirks that go all the way back to FF11
well they literally reuse a lotta stuff from codes to assets from many games
remember the lobby server bug that has existed at least since 1.0 and that they didn't uncover until Endwalker luanch
How better is Intel 14th gen compared to 13th gen
Is it a huge gap or is it barely noticeable
its been refreshes since 12th gen, no?
its why 12th gen chips are such a steal right now
Ik what ill get then
they cost way less for better efficiency
they kinda the king for micro or mini form factors rn
Why
Oh lmao
more money =/= more better
14th gen is basically "we're obligated to release a new SKU every year even tho we have nothing relevant to add" bc 15th gen is transitioning to a chiplet architecture rather than monolithic. So they basically phoned it in to focus on that.
Okaaaay i sent my pc back to where i got it from and they will fix it
The one you just built/ordered? oof
I actually had bought like in 2022 in november
Turns out it really was the gpu that just gave up.
Luckily it still had the 24 months warranty.
What gpu was it
3060 ti
Oooh
At first i thought the psu did damage but the pc booted fine when testing.
Apparently nvidia drivers are known to fuck up gpus
the copium is strong with the nivida users
imagine not being able to set a custom fancurve or overclock within your driver and having to rely on third party software

lmao
most of the third party software is SHIT tho
like for everything
Hardware, peripherals etc
Im trying out armoury crate right now and its such a pain
armoury crate is basically malware
ya i figured Id give it a try and my god its terrible
my favorite thing is having to launch it periodically to update because the fan control refuses to let you do anything unless you have the most current update
To be fair Nvidia does nothing because rivatuner already exists so they have no reason to include freely available tools that would just be worse versions of rt and ab
https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Kiyo-Full-Streaming-Webcam/dp/B09FNX2PLL?th=1 is this a good webcam for school
welp, that's probably going to be great for XIV at 1080p
Destroy the industry, stop buying high end GPUs, don't believe their marketing, even better, use adblocker. Never watch the games awards (it's a big advertisement anyway)
Games are meant to be fun not "breath taking" or "beautiful"
says the 4090 owner
game awards are fun tho
except for this year
Last ig
whyd they give the actual ppl who made the games 30 sec speeches while random actors got like 15 mins
asus software annoys me so mch, that I refuse to buy anything they make anymore
I completely understand
to be fair, the hardware is usually fine, though I am tired of seeing ROG EYE every time I turn my computer on xD
maybe i would've bought one of those evangelion boards
Friend is offering me this for $150, good deal? https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06079752
ya this is my second Asus mobo and I was really on the fence over getting it because the last asus mobo I got was awful. The bios were absolute shit on my old board and I had like 60 seconds to make changes in the bios or it would freeze.
no
AMD likens the performance to that of a GeForce GTX 1650
63fps is probably 1080p low + frame rendering heh
those things make the games more fun
the neighbors must love this dude
I love my neighbor right now: Parked their 2nd car in someone elses spot and the alarm has been going off every 15mins since they parked it around 2hrs ago...
i hate that kinda neighbor

https://fxtwitter.com/tomwarren/status/1746128974806225352 I will gut Copilot from my Windows install
update: Microsoft has clarified that Copilot in Windows will automatically open at boot on 27-inch and above monitors that are running at 1920 pixel width. It's just a test for now, but could be the default https://www.theverge.com/2024/1/12/24035637/microsoft-windows-11-copilot-ai-chatbot-automatically-open-boot-startup
my old PC that i gave away is weird, lol
I want to reinstall windows, so I make a boot USB. But for some stupid reason, I cannot access the boot menu. F12, Del, F8, smashing the whole keyboard... it keeps going straight into windows
F2?
literally every button I search off the Internet 😦
also is the keyboard actually lighting up or anything that indicates its active during the boot? because i had an older PC once that wouldn't recognize some keyboards until it was already booting up windows
depending on the board, there should also be an option in the bios somewhere to go to bios/bootmenu first instead of booting, which you can probably reach by temporarily disconnecting the drive so it doesnt have anything to boot from
hm okay :/
just change the boot order in the bios to USB
wait nvm you cant even get into bios huh
if you have access to another keyboard that would probably work
Go to settings -> update and security -> recovery -> restart now under advanced startup -> troubleshoot -> advanced options -> uefi firmware settings -> and toggle that slider
Just so you can change boot order like hank was suggesting
welcome back bidori
we missed you
I am not back lol, just a basic check in
nah you're back
I have other more important things to do
so are you dating one of your co workers at dick's
Am currently about to get in a battle against my state 🔫
thats usually what happens when the bros leave and never come back
No lol, her and i have gotten a lot closer though
She got me a souvenir from her vacation
is that her in the back
No
why not
I am just hanging out more irl with people
About to go meet people in Cali soon from discord that i have known for years
that isnt the same bidori
I mean that’s just a small part tbf
I have been hanging out with my coworkers outside of work
did you sell your 4090
Nah i use it lol
Smh
I barely use mine
Rip
I don’t use mine as much with dealing with medical/legal stuff as well as touching grass lol
yeah see
called it
bidori you just need to be more open
just admit you wasted your money
What
yeah because you forget about it
Yeah, i forget how much of a beast it is
true its hilarious AMD will never catch up to us
They missed their chance this generation with mcm and they’re making up for their loss with killer apus next gen hopefully
when you gonna get a job that doesnt make you work weekends
Lol hopefully soon but i have some things to work on first
I am getting my license, car, and dealing with this medical BS first
did you cut your toe off
Tore my bicep at work
fun
Yeah the state is refusing to cover it
why arent you collecting workman's comp
Virginia is ass is why
That is why i am about to have to battle the state
well I hope you win
We shall see if i even need to, got to file with the commission to have them reevaluate it first
Been 4 weeks of paperwork and BS and it’s only gotten worse lmao
My body feels great
Where are you
Virginia…

he lives in norfolk
???
yup
Lmao why does it matter where i am though 😭
Just curious
I wouldnt tell Roan where I live either
Northern Virginia is like the nicest place in the country
Virginia itself is trash
I hate this state with a passion
It’s of course also the wealthiest region of the country
Lol
its up there
Loudon county has the highest income
well this says arlington is 3rd
is that where you live bidori
I’m in Fairfax
I am not saying where i live lol
Virginia is all that you need to know 😭
yeah almost makes me not wanna be your friend
Really doesn’t tell me much
Could be bum fuck coal country
Or the extremely wealthy Nova
You’ll not find a better state and I’ll say that proudly
yes you will
Oh i sure will
not everyone has a six figure job roan
"wow why do you hate your life so bad I make 500,000 a year"
god I hate the internet so much
Maryland is basically just the same as northern Virginia
This state just has awful rules and my hate grew because of this damn workers comp situation
driving in virginia is so bad
Not to mention the police here do jack shit
In what way
you get pulled over going above 80 you get sent to jail even though they have 70 MPH speed limits on the freeway

SPEED ENFORCED BY AIR
signs everywhere
tolls everywhere
The rule here don’t go over 10 above the speed limit
yeah thats stupid
It works fine
no other state is that strict
Lots of signs are useful
And there aren’t that many tolls
virginia is ranked 2 in worst state to drive in for laws
Atleast i don’t live where my brother does

What is that north Minnesota
North dakota lmao
Close enough
Perfect overclocking weather tho
We do just fine
Not C
When you reach the negatives in that range
The difference between f and c is negligible
Even better, let’s get clockin
That’s -45 C
I’ve got processors that need burnin
Got a winter storm coming tomorrow
We’re at like 30f atm heaters off, windows are open, house is still 65 thanks to the computers
It’s 10C now for me
Oh hey, the ac just kicked on 😄
Doesn’t surprise me
well nice talking, it is time to go back to the real world
you'll be back
see
called it
Because i am leaving early duh
yeah but you arent driving
What are you doing on Saturday
so its fine
Working trying not to make my injury worse
my . fucking superlights scroll wheel
keeps going in the opposite direction for like first few scrolls
should i open this up

24 inch curved?
seems a bit too small for curved
VA at that price is also gonna inevitably have a lot of black smearing
24 inch curved...that exists?
yes
Ive owned one for 3 years
had to bust out the tiny measuring tape
cause its a flex
You are measuring it wrong, you measure diagonally not horizontally
that's not how you measure a monitor Christian lmfao
i have learned :(
whats funny is that I bought this monitor based off dimensions
I saw the physical dimensions and bought it
wait so do they measure them diagonally to figure out aspect ratio or what
just seems weird to me
The method of measuring screen size by its diagonal was inherited from the method used for the first generation of CRT television, when picture tubes with circular faces were in common use. Being circular, the external diameter of the bulb was used to describe their size.
huh
explain
because you're not measuring the full length horizontally
wait on that monitor wouldnt you not be able to have it as close due to the size
something something pixels gonna be very noticeable
my monitor is like
less than a foot away from my face
the smaller the monitor the closer it can be
I thought it was entirely to do with the actual pixel resolution of the display
cause you can have big screens with low actual resolution
no, but u dont want to view a low ppi monitor up close because it will look terrible
and it does not look good close
yes
the wack ass thing where you sit x amount of tv screen widths away from it lol
i think other than that its about how much of your field of view it takes up
hm
have you ever seen someone who plays with their nose touching the monitor
ive seen people basically play like that yea
what to look for in a keyboard?
does it keyboard good
honestly just a good manufacturer and if you vibe with it
I like full keyboards but a lot of people like tenkeyless ones
preferred form factor (60%, 65%, tkl, full size) switch type (linear, clicky, tactile) and some in depth reviews
are the optical switches common yet and or good
I remember people going soyjack over optical switches
theyre pretty common
you can find something with gateron optical switches for cheap but i dont know how big of a difference they make
all the keyboards ive tried out with optical switches were overly sensitive
i use gateron reds or speed silvers so i like overly sensitive
me banging my knee on the desk and it activates multiple keys
I need an infinite scroll mouse
cause lots of games have funny shit you can do with them
i feel like i sit too close to my 57" monitor sometimes
if your peripheral vision is not entirely monitor you're not doing it right

dude finding a keyboard without RGB is like trying to find a male roe in limsa
u can just turn it off ._.
true
True
u wouldnt like my keyboard...
got the smoke machine and strobe lights integrated into the keyboard
It has rgb everywhere
holy crap
I never got curved monitors
I dunno I just like a flat screen
I only have a 27 and 18 anyway
something something curved is better cause your eyes have to travel less
Sorry, long question coming up:
So I've been thinking about getting a second PC for the LAN/FG community that has sprung up around near recently, but I'm torn;
Do I build a 2nd ITX Computer to use, which would be more powerful, perform better and quieter and maybe be slightly better for multiplayer/split screen (more USB ports for one), but at the cost of being harder to transport around and keep control of during events? As well as needing to bring a separate KBM and mini-monitor.
OR
I just buy a gaming laptop, which would be much easier to transport (just drop into the backpack and go, bus or bike doesn't matter) and deal with during the event. With the drawback of being less powerful, louder, have less native support for USB and not be as great for split screen?
Because I was looking at like the $2,000 range and for that price I built out an ITX PC with a new gen GPU (AMD...7800XT IIRC?), a new AM5 CPU, DDR5, an AIO, case and all AND a portable 16' 120hz 1440p monitor (I already have a spare mouse and keyboard I would be using). But gaming laptops in that range are seem way weaker than that, and usually older models too.
It's tough but the power vs. ease of use really comes into play here; the ITX build is stronger way, but the laptop is way easier to use and transport - just drop it into my backpack with my Hitbox and good to go. Whereas even with the small ITX case I picked - the Meshlicious - getting that comfortably even into the LTT backpack, much less my backpack, alongside a Hitbox and monitor is no easy task (if possible at all).
tbh it sounds like the perfect use case for a gaming laptop
I'd buy it and not feel bad about it
sometimes that's just how it is lol
alright chat do I get a bachelors in Software Engineering in C#
cause rn I dont have much direction, and my skill set is so specialized rn that I just wont be able to find a job unless I move states or start my own business which just isnt possible rn
over a very short career fueled by my mental illness
some of my knowledge is on par with automotive historians cause I pretty much had to learn decades of history for my last job
but im not moving out to LA to find a job lmao
I live in Utah and the local online course we have is Western Governors Uni
which my uncle did to get his degree to keep working at IBM
oh damn
idk the Bachelors probably looks good to employers if I cant get a job in the field right away, but I was speaking with my Uncle a few hours ago and he said out in Colorado there are hundreds of jobs and more popping up everyday for software dev/engineering positions
they just want experience
what do employers even want anymore lmfao
over the last 3 months ive applied to about
90~ish places
only about 9 have responded
only 1 accepted lmao
and im talking like even just shitty ass mall jobs cause i need SOMETHING
I know the market is kinda shit rn
goddamn
there arent enough seniors to fill senior positions
yea my uncle got in good cause hes been with IBM for 15 years now, and just barely got a degree in cybersec cause they were like "how" cause he was the only one in his position without a degree lmfao
lmao
I have money but id rather choose something short
im stuck between software dev or nuke tech lmao
nuclear energy stuff
cause thats something im intensely interested in stuff
lmfao
I mean
knowing how to make a reactor is one thing
doing it is another
TECHNICALLY I could go refine some uranium right now cause Utah has very large uranium deposits /s
holy crap 21 samosa
thats a lot
I couldnt even eat that many and im fat
how is the cybersec industry nowadays
all the people I know in it have been in for years
omw to become a UX designer and fix the shit usability of games
