you could argue the evga 3080ti xc3 ultra isn't as good as the ftw3 but they are the same damn card lol
the motherboard is offered in several models - the cheaper 2 don't have rgb but they aren't any 'worse'
same with the ram, there's a non-rgb version with the exact same chips inside
nobody si forced to buy rgb
I miss EVGA
admittedly the reason I bought the more expensive motherboard was I wanted that little 7 segment screen
It makes troubleshooting way easier so it aint a bad purchase
I like knowing why my computer failed to boot XD and using 4 sticks of ddr5 and wanting to OC them, I actually made use of it a few times XD
yea I am pretty happy with my purchase. I just wish it did thunderbolt
some boards (either onboard or via a card) you can feed your gpu displayport output into them and then get a thunderbolt 4 port that you can use with thunderbolt monitors
admittedly it's mostly not necessary because virtually all monitors a gaming pc owner would be interested in just use displayport and/or hdmi
-sigh- and they don't even have usb-c lmao
ya I have just the 3 status lights on my current one and when my pc quit working shortly after being built it I generally knew what was going on but the 7 segment display wouldve required 0 thinking to fix
smh have to buy usb-a to usb-c or lightning connectors to charge my phone off my monitor lmao 😄
sadly diy pc hardware always lags behind
I got a few usb c on this board so Im happy
to be fair
if your motherboard has lights for ram and cpu, that's probably enough XD
it just gives you a little more certainty
ya the status lights and when the pc "shut off" was clear enough to me. It was my ram overclocking
like if I see it flick through the various initialization states adn then switch over to CPU temperature, I know my computer post'd correctly
ya it was a POSTing issue
because the status lights won't come on if you have a good boot.... or if your board is just dead
then again a speaker will 😄
they light up at very specific stages of the booting process and then hold a certain color and that tells me whats going on
https://www.ebay.com/itm/275595476571
I wonder how well this one works lmao
unfortunately the cmos battery was hidden behind my vertically mounted graphics card so it was a pain in the ass to remove to clear the configs
oof
thisis another nice thing with the higher end boards
they usually have a button on the io plate
on the one i have
ya I didnt have the bios on a flash drive so i couldnt just use the flashback. Damn thats pretty handy
iirc the 'smart' button has a handful of different things you can assign it to do from the bios
iirc it defaults to being a 2nd power button
Ill try boosting my ram again if I need to but whatever speed its running at is sufficient and its stable
So question, since I'm Quite a noob and I want to upgrade some pieces of my pc, the new good SSD are the nvme ones, right?
Also I plan to expand the ram to 32 GB of DDR4 ram over the 16 GB I have now
yeah, PCI-E 4.0 at most; don’t go for 5.0 ones yet
storage has dropped in price for quite a bit
a quality 2tb pcie 4.0 nvme drive is like 140$
ya I got a single 4 tb 4.0 for this computer when I built it
Theyre at a really comfortable price
you can also get 64GB DDR4 for p affordable price point rn even on laptop
(assuming ur lappy supports 64GB memory first)
oy which one is dat? my place 2tb nvme (not sure if pcie 4.0) is around 85-200$
neat
crazy that just 2-3 years ago when i build this PC, i paid 110€ for my 500gb corsair mp600
actually no it was 130
110 was the other 500gb i have from crucial
ya like 5 or so years ago I paid 100 for 500 GB 3.0 and recently only paid 300 for 4TB 4.0
bruh
5+Ghz, 102°C, almost 1000w
also air cooled
96 cores??? God. Wtf do you need that for?
workloads
threadripper is used for servers usually
or high workload PCs
server CPUs are stupidly expensive
threadripper is one step below that
they have an epyc cpu with 128cores and 256 threads
only runs at a maximum of 3.1ghz tho
very large excel spreadsheets
You will laugh
But I know a company where they use a very large excel sheet for data storage
And they do need CPUs like that
business as usual
seen it before, multiple times
recovered corruption, multiple times
told them they need a proper system, MULTIPLE TIMES
It's hilarious
It's still cheaper than hiring a data scientist
Unlimited powa

how would this even fit
they also act like how heatpipes work is suddenly unique exclusive technology LMAO
CPU HEAT BOILS LIQUID INSIDE VAPOR CHAMBERS!
yes no shit
😆😆
I asked about the problem tracking database so I could find something that was referenced in an email
"oh its in the excel spreadsheet"
Bitch, not everything is supposed to be an excel sheet
Renting a car today and it's a Malibu. Annnnd the rear wheel bearing is now grinding at only 44k miles. Stay classy Chevy
I'd say something to them but I don't need them trying to blame me
I mean if you just picked up the car. you should complain and get another car lol
44k miles on a rental car o_O what the heck kinda rental place is it
i don't remember ever seeing a rental with more than 20k on it
It's Avis and it's bc cars are still in short supply
Also I have a feeling they're holding onto the cheaper cars longer while still flipping the higher rental cost ones at 10-20k
And it started acting up 200mi down the road
still worth calling them and complaining
I also rent a lot from avis since i get a big discount through work >> they never have malibus here though, just kias and camrys
That's how one computer exploded for every video I uploaded. (x
Many people are curious about the source of the sound, the video is using a Delta server fan, which creates a lot of noise.

idk
If we’re only talking about the exterior, I personally like it
Drives it to get fast food
off roading was super duper popular a little while ago
I would not be surprised if they used that thing to destroy a trail or two
then protested when said trail was closed down by too many yahoos wrecking it and leaving trash everywhere
lol what about the ev
what the hell is going on with those headlights that look like foglights way too high up
Looks better
i thinktheir normal one would look better if they got rid of the weird side thing
but that seems to be part of gm's brand identity atm
front end designed by schick
the inside is decent though
looks like the HDs still have the option for a bench seat o_O
this is sexy
it's ok
i'm not gonna say i like the ford/ram grilles better because i think they're all gross xD
So I just learned something new today
Apparently CPUs are not as flat as they seem
Hence why thermal paste is necessary among other reasons
Pretty cool
Nor are heatsinks
Which is also why some people like lapping them ahead of time as well
fellas whats a normal size for the pagefile
its set at 16gb by the system for me, not sure if thats an average size
Set it to system managed
I think the rule used to be 1.5x your ram but...
I don't need a 48GB page file
yeah just set it to system managed
There's an old S10 at the train station, it's so wild seeing a pickup truck that doesn't take up four parking spots and stand 12 feet tall before you hit the hood line

m.2 or sata?
m.2 slots into your motherboard and uses an m.2 pcie port for it
sata is the classic way. a drive that you connect with a powercable and a sata cable to the mb
Is there major speed differences between the two?
I’d have to see if my motherboard has a m.2 port
whats pros and cons of owning a wireless headset compart to wire
is your pc a prebuilt, or do you know your motherboard make and model?
pros of wireless: it's wireless
cons of wireless: it costs a good bit more to get equivalent sound quality to a wired pair
that's my take anyway
prebuilt
got a link to it?
it only has a 1TB mechanical HDD in there currently?
okay that's probably an m.2 ssd and yeah to be safe I'd probably go for a sata ssd
thanks
ye i took a look inside and could tell there was atleast another sata cable i could use for something
you could probably yeet the wifi/bluetooth bit, but if you just want extra games storage it'll be fine on a sata
sata ssd for games is decent enough though
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082QYXBKP for example one of these
This M. 2 NVMe PCIe x4 Adapter with RGB Heat Sink is a unique product, it is designed for a very fast M. 2 NVMe module and comes with ARGB (Addressable RGB) LED to enhance the lighting in your system chassis. It is enhanced with two-level of heat management to protect the NVMe module; a Big Alumi...
yep. that just assumes you have a spare slot and want another nvme drive 😄
why does everything need rgb
you can totally get those kinda pci card adapters without rgb. I just linked that one because I have one
ironically I never used the rgb on it
I ran out of space on my rgb hubs 😄
corsair 4000d airflow case OR the phanteks eclipse g500a?
both a good cases. both require you to buy additional fans
i personally like phanteks more though. Have the previous version of the case and really can't find anything to complain about
I personally like the Lian Li Lancool 216 over both
samecase, besides the fans
I can only speak aesthetically but I don't like the slanted front on the phanteks case lol
yea it does throw me off in a way
yeah
i kinda like it
another pro which shouldnt be a pro: stuff doesnt have headphone jacks now
i mean stuff does
but like
iphone
GIVE ME A HEADPHONE JACK 99% OF ALL MY STUFF IS USLESS
Also the battery can die
And Bluetooth cannot be as good as wired
There’s no way to get lossless transmission across Bluetooth
Though there are some lossless Bluetooth prototypes out there
I just got my 4TB Samsung 990 Drive
'whats the easiest solutioin
to trraansfer my main drive
to my new drive
Wheelbarrow
is that a program?
i hope you have two nvme slots or an enclosure
I got tons
i had to go nvme -> hdd -> nvme lol
Oof
me when helping my uncle pour cement on his driveway

tldr: not market ready, especially with lack of public benchmarks/performance info
but has the potential to double performance from better voltage leakage prevention, and thermal management
8000G hewwo
I suspect AMD will use Samsung for Radeon allocation
oof
also on the subject of the corsair 4000d, I kinda like the build quality (at least from the 5000d I poked at once) of those, but I've never tried building in one so idk how good/bad they are
but also
there's a couple of people in this chat (sarah for example) who build computers for customers as a business and they can tell you their favorite case!
That's a useful piece of info to find out the pain points on a case when you're trying to quickly build a bunch of machines 😉
but also worth thinking about whether you care about those pain points or not if you're just building your 1 computer
the new Z
iirc it's just a damn good reskin of the old Z
The Z's look so good, it's super tempting if rates wern't so stupidly high and dealer markup was reasonable.
plus it's made by nissan
afaik nissan is how you pronounce chrysler in japanese
jk lol
who is NIKKE?
Goddess of Victory: Nikke is a South Korean third-person shooter action role-playing video game developed by Shift Up, published by Level Infinite. Development of Nikke began as early as 2017, and it was released for Android and iOS in 2022, and Windows in 2023. The game's action-based battle system revolves around quick character-switching and ...

Steam hardware survey for Oct shows 31% of respondants had 32gb of ram now. Interesting.
Although I suppose it could be explained by ppl who have better specs are more likely to agree to the survey to flex
Im surprised theres no dumptruck booty on the panel
cowards
Ok I think I found what is causing my pc to crash
It’s a cooling issue
My cpu hit 100c while under load
What the hell lol
You probably jostled it when you installed your ram, and now it's not making contact
I have a 34g container of cryonaut on my desk LMAO
That should be fine
but my tower fans are just bunch of stock fans
yeah i think i just have 2 stock 120mm fans as my system cooling lul
now what the odds one of the pipes couldve been cracked
crack pipes huh
i got weird luck but good news is no cracked pipes for me
plus its an excuse to use my laser thermometer
Not the most accurate
The heatsink is reflective, that's why people use FLIRS
That’s the one that’s the actual thermal camera right ?
I got something similar that I got from harbor freight that does have a screen on it that shows heat
Yeah I got the Ames instrument
That was
Bizarre
Out of literally nowhere, my Laptop just Harsh Stalled
Like was gaming and hearing music, then all of a sudden the game heavily chugged, all PC interactions went down to the crawl, nothing was on high usageon the task manager
It just... Chugged
Until i closed the laptop, and re opened
sounds healthy
Any potential idea what the heck was that?
unless the system actually fully crashed and produced a crash dump
you're shit out of luck there
Bwep
things happen, reboot, and chalk it up to random occurrence
sure
;X
yes, computers are not infallible
Just first time i ever seen that, which is why it felt
Strange
I had a PC with a roulette blue screen daily, but not a PC that just chugged to f+ck out of like
A weird sneeze
ive worked in the IT industry for over 10 years now, and supported more computers servers and systems than i can count by now, probably in the 10s of thousands.
a single instance of a random issue, doesn't mean shit.
if an issue repeats, regularly, then thats a problem
Ill keep an eye on it
yea a single issue can be all sorts of things. even if it happens more than once, but once in a blue moon
mhmm
my computer is rock solid
but even i get a random freeze, maybe once every 3-6 months
Thank
...This does remind me
Of the time i somehow memory capped FFXIV
I still dont know how
download more RAM
Like i was doing Variant unlocks and, somehow doing that
And maybe Fall guys?
Just
Memory leaked
Memory leak has been an issue since 6.3
Somehow i avoided that
i want it
They do look neat
the noise figures look amazing

@deep sapphire are you familiar with the now defunct CompUSA? A PS2 I bought recently has a CompUSA sticker on the box
Sure am
That was basically a micro center but more nation wide
Darn why does the cpu fan have to be so loud right after I built the computer
Problem fixed though
No more jet propulsion in my own home
Oh god I haven’t seen a compusa in decades
Don't ask to ask, just ask your question ^^
bought a keyboard off amazon and it seems like i got an EU keyboard?
is there like anything i can do?
Send it back, unless it's an expensive one and you can and want to replace the keycaps
So I’m wondering what I should do with my old parts now. It was part of a prebuilt so I doubt anyone would buy it
Thoughts?
Should I just trash it properly and all
What are they
I don’t remember tbh. I just know, that the parts were made to fit by hp and way outdated
Depending on what they are you could get a budget rig running and sell it on FB to someone
There will be parents on a tight budget wanting a cheap Fortnite box for little Jimmy for xmas
Everytime Ive upgraded Ive given my old pc to my stepdad and his old one is now my Mother's
So yeah list up what you've got and what's missing and we can figure out if it's worth doing domething
Ok
I highly recommend using Pcpartpicker in the future and saving it as a parts list
It was a hp prebuilt
Its really handy knowing exactly whats in your old PCs for reselling or giving away
oh lmao
still wouldnt hurt
I’ll see if pc part picker can go back to the Bronze Age
ya even if its not helpful now. I recommend it going forward
Actually, if by chance the prebuilt is still for sale, I might be able to track it back to where I bought it
Doubtful, but I’ll give it a shot
There should be a support page if you can find the model number
If they do it like dell it might have a sticker with a service code even
Has anyone used Steamdeck to play FFXIV?
I only know of one regular here who does
I'm going to do the old fav
!faq steamdeck
For a guide on how to use XIVLauncher with Steam Deck, please see https://goatcorp.github.io/faq/steamdeck
For further advice there is a Linux/Steam Deck channel on the goatcorp Discord
yeah I'd answer any questions I can but my eyes are kinda fucked. thanks Valve
I had a steamdeck
Ahh I mainly was wondering if it will play fine if i hook the steamdeck into the its dock and into my 1440p monitor xD
is the new steamdeck just an updated screen or did they buff the specs?
I don't think the specs got buffed
it's possible but not really something you'd wanna do
slight spec bump, overhauled internals
I am trying to downsize from having a giant ATX case pc and all (doing most of my work on a macos laptop) so thought I could do all my gaming on steamdeck alone
How come?
Mini itx time bahahahahah
I HEARD MITX OWO
the APU's not really capable of handling it lol
AND DECK OWO
UWu
I feel like ff14 would run absolutely fine
I have looked into it, but they get super expensive at that size haha I dont know if its needed, i rarely game a lot these days and the few games I play not sure worth spending a lot of money on a full build
Eh XIV on deck is fine but need some tinkering, mostly fps cap (I cap at 45fps)
0_0 there you go
Then again linux is my water
First hand, I stand corrected
I also cap at 45 but it's at max res on the Deck itself
you could considering going PS5 for FFXIV
After capped the fps is p stable and I love it more than my full rig w 1660 OC
Oh ChiakiOnDeck is great
I usually play with keyboard and mouse, so id be plugging it into the dock on my monitor etc
Heard peepo playing XVI on deck via Chiaki
PS5 can kb/m
Wait a minute.. FFXIV runs on macos too no?
Why am I overthinking it.. XD I have a M1 Pro i use for both home and work
yeah, there's the official client and XIVonMac
Doesn't mean you SHOULD xD
Would that suffice in terms of power for it?
Oh? What do you mean?
It would push a MacBook Air M1 if you go higher than 900p
Mostly bc it's more kind of foreign water so I have 0 experience of XIV on mac but I know linux stuff
I have a Macbook pro M1 Pro model, not sure if it matters? I would probably get an external drive tho
Then again I can use Win/linux just fine but panik on mac so uhhhh yeee
Ahh fair enough
Oh it'll run good
It'll run much better because the Pro models have active cooling
^^^^^^
I would need to rebuy every expansion and such for "macos" mode i think
My biggest grip about macs are mostly cooling stuff and the pros having active cooling but $$$
You can use a Windows/Steam license for XIVonMac but there's some issues with it, I don't remember what
Hmm, okay so would running deck as a main gaming setup suffice for other games xD
via the dock haha
That solves ffxiv macos problem haha
do u know u can ctrl c ctrl v the ENTIRE gamefile from one machine to another
Yes, decade old gamebuilding
I uh, literally copy paste XIV from one machine of mine to le deck
Save u some download hours
And vice versa as well bc am living on phone hotspot atm
If I look at my steam games rn, i have FFXIV, GW2, RL, BaloonsTD6, CIV6, Deep Rock Galactic, im wondering if these would run fine on a steam deck via dock on a 1440p monitor (tho I guess i can limit the monitor size to 1080p)
ooo that is neat
XIV confirmed just fine on deck (use XIVLauncher)
GW2, better ask their subreddit (I think)
Civ6 unsure, but mostly about nav and stuff
Deep Rock Galatic unsure
Can check peep on r/SteamDeck
Hmm this is giving me hope that i can just chuck this ATX case and all into storage haha
Cut down on cables and space taken
Oh I do know about miniITX, thing is, from what I researched it is expensive to build full system with it since its "smaller"
Dont wanna over spend on a whole new system if i barely do anything on windows is some games and YT XD
Eh not necessary all smaller, but the motherboard and really good/niche SFF case is expensib as hecc
Yuup, from what I found around i would have to go 1000+ euros to get something small factor
Not that far but ye quite close
why don't you create a new trial account, see how XIV runs on your mac and then decide from there
That is smart haha
Iirc Sakaguchi plays XIV on mac?
Try these alternative 3rd party launchers.

Please read all the documentation and guides for these launchers before requesting assistance.
Do note that these programs, like ACT, are technically against TOS. Treat them like Fight Club, and don't be rude while using them.
Please note no staff have tested the Mac, Linux and cross-platform launchers so use at your own discretion.
Is creating a new FFXIV account still a pain in the ass as it ever was? XD
@golden stream also isnt macos based on linux? 🤔 I use linux commands all day on the terminal at work on macos
Its based on Unix
just make an account there and click through to the mac download
Linux is based on unix
Ala what macos is built up to
we'd be sudo all day
Root is the only account for day to day use. nods
if you use xiv on mac, there's an option to use the windows license since you're just running on wine anyway
same on linux
IMHO just completely IMHO I think square is unhinged trying to sell different licenses for mac users
I get their "we have to support a launcher and have customer service specifically for mac users" angle but I'm not sure they actually deliver on it lmao
but if you're using a mac (and I say this as someone who uses and loves macs), you've probably been fleeced for larger amounts of money before hahaha
it's fine given whatever you're doing is capped at 60 fps (no frame pacing issues)
no? unless you want higher than 60fps in games
I see
120hz is better but really just talking about smooth motion. it's not going to make something more or less playable (aside from cs2/cod/overwatch style twitch fps)
(also the issue of the higher cost for a good higher refresh monitor)
Well my main monitor is 60 hertz, if you're wondering why I was asking. I upgraded my pc today (2060 ti) and I hope that does the trick
I don't mind 60 fps, but I was wondering if that was the reason why I was getting lag spikes a bit in ff before upgrading
(I've yet to try ff out yet with my new build)
yea if you're playing a game and getting periodic fps drops, my first not-gaming-expert-but-familiar-with-computer-architecture guess would be you're continuously running out of ram and the system is paging out (or gpu vram and using regular ram).... something going from fast to slow
but there are other reasons it can happen and that's how we end up with firmware updates 😄
yee I upgraded to 16 gig ram now
trying to get ready for dawntrail xD
I'll go to limsa for the true benchmark test
How good is SSD vs a hard drive
And is Kingston a good brand for said drive?
Or something like that name not sure
Planning to replace my older hard drive today (SMART issue)
at this point I'm not sure why someone would buy a hard drive, unless they want >4tb storage
or they wanted a lot of storage cheap
Oh
even for upgrading an old computer that uses only sata and not m.2/nvme
Start your system in seconds, store up to 4TB of data, and upgrade with an SSD you can count on. and if you have m.2 slots, https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Plus-PCIe-NAND-5000MB/dp/B0B25NXWC7 this even has a $6.25 coupon lol
Valuable Gen4 performance is here. Introducing the Crucial P3 Plus Gen4 NVMe SSD, delivering impressive speed with sequential reads/writes up to 5000/4200MB/s. and $50/tb is a pretty fair impulse purchasing price for an ssd
a decent enough 4tb is like $180
that said, a 4tb hard drive is $80, 8tb for 109? I don't know if those are any good for desktop computer use but for sure, cheap
those ones usually lack a significant amount of cache
the more expensive pcie 4.0 ones have like 2-4gigs of cache at 2-4 tb
Yeah it is just so weird to offer it as a whole different thing, pisses me off. XD
Hahaha yuuup, I just was thinking down the line when my M1 Pro becomes “old” I’ll have to sell my kidney for a new one lol
What do you guys think?
like all of their marketing for the m3 macs so far is "this is a good upgrade if you're still using an intel mac"
and as far as I'm concerned, my 2014 macbook pro is still working fine for when I am on travel lol 😄
I remember when a 3 year old computer was ancient history
a model that almost came out 10 years ago still being usable seems ludicrous
No longer need a piss bottle
Just get a piss toilet
interesting case mod but hopefully someone doesn't use it
Can it run ffxiv? XD
Well, it's newer than ff14 ;p
that, doesn't mean much 😛
i got a transfer back to my prev hospital
so im glad
but
it means moving
again
Thanks

now I have a video to show to people who tell me about how 60 or enough for most things
you mean this screen specficially?
problem is the average casual doesnt see this in motion OR simply does not care if the game runs at 60 or 30 or 20 fps
the video on general explains things well so I am mostly talking about the whole thing
the motion effects also matter
like watching a side-to-side pan on my 34" 120hz will make me feel nauseous
So question, any tips when looking for a new monitor to buy?
Cause I'm kinda of tech ignorant on the matter
@real edge monitor time
what are you using it for and what are your system specs. any preferences (resolution, refresh rate, size etc)
this is not the place to hire help either
try an actual dev server, I think this is a thing
what is your use case
gaming? mostly browsing?
programming, video editing, photo editing, etc
also budget
https://geizhals.de/gigabyte-m27q-a2382972.html if you are in germany
my samsung monitor is amazing but others have had many QC issues with it so I wouldn't recommend it lol
Idk why I thought grim was German
Probably, like some country around Germany
LCD hasn't had many advancements as of late
yeah good is good
I can see on amazon.it the Samsung G5 is on a €249 black friday offer, 32" curved 1440p
I’m just using a LG ultra gear monitor
if you can push the budget a little I have this and it's great
€335
LG displays are great as well
they have shit contrast but they are good for gaming
contrast is how black the blacks appear
too low contrast means they appear grey
but for gaming they are very good
shit is a stretch, my blacks look pretty good
ye it varies from display to display
all I can go off of is what rtings and HUB have tested
theres also the MSI G274QPX
tho it has poor response times
Had to adjust the contrast of my monitor a little bit
your blacks in a dark room will look bad, they do on my ips screen too
Thought about replacing my secondary monitor for a monitor with better color accuracy
3rd link is some overall recommendations for 2023 october
it says some LG displays as well in the third video
I have stupid settings anyway, like that gif
Alright, I'll check them out
Why do people join the server and ask for stuff
Did the meme really give that impression?
Dear Aoi please provide free medical advice
Drink 0 cups of coffee
Who u gonna believe, Shue, some dude who claims he has a medical degree or another dude on the internet
Coffee and caffeine has a death grip on my co workers
instructions unclear; AF gone through the roof, bpm 200
It happened a long time ago but I didn't use it at the time so I didn't pay attention
if it happens randomly in large gaps of time I wouldnt worry that much about it. It could just be overheating so I would clean it out with some compressed air (duster) if its a fairly old laptop
if it still happens then update your graphics drivers
Meaning I don't need to spend money to buy a new one 😭😭
gaming laptops are notoriously unreliable after a year or 2 so if you want to game on PC I suggest building a desktop or buying one
they can tolerate the heat generated from the graphics and processor better and tend to last much longer
Ok thank you
might be worth a DDU?
no problem, feel free to ping me if you have further issues
Kinda want one lol
im not gonna rule drivers right now, they said it only happens randomly and rarely
I wish I could fix it as soon as possible
I think its just overheating, probably clogged with a wall of dust like they usually are
But it needs more stuffing
I should probably clean it now, right?
yeah if you can buy a can of air
just blow out the vents
if a lot of dust comes out, that should help
ahh yea a lot of laptops have goofy fan designs
I had a sony for less than a year, and one of the reasons I sold it was the blower fan was under the keyboard and setup in a way that it'd clog up after 6 months of use
like taking the keyboard off and blowing the fan out dropped temps and noise significantly - the laptop was overheating before lol
Umm I built a new pc yesterday, but I after I pressed start on the menu screen for ff, I’m treated as a new player wtf
Like I have to press on a dc to join

I transferred my data and everything so I’m a bit confused
@deep sapphire elp
what happens when you select your server
I didn’t yet because I’m too scared to override something
you wont
Oh
You backed up the folder from documents on your old pc right?
Yea
did you remember to copy the gibberish folders too
Ok everything is working

Omg I got scared
Game why must you scare someone that panics easily
Gross
I thought spaghetti code was acting up ngl
LOL
more for every overpass that chops that thing off
Lmao
also this might be ai
It kinda looks AI yeah
lol
there are videos out there of models of like 3 floor motorhomes
that just unfold in a ton of different ways
oh it SCREAMS Ai
first the passenger side mirror is floating in midair
second, the driver side mirror is on the 2nd floor
third, the tires look weird
also
something looks dimensionally wrong here
like
the back wheel of the bus and the front wheel don't even line up
and nobody has ever made a motorcoach chassis with a staggered front/rear like that
or with the tag axle that far behind
idk
Time to scam some rich boomers by selling them this baby!
lol
https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/corsair-4000d-airflow-black-chassis-corsair-rm750-psu-bundle-4241866 sheesh, good deal
£119.99
yeah decent price, psu is discontinued now
No helipad? Roughing it.
https://fxtwitter.com/Wario64/status/1726481778108678549 this has to be a pricing error
Epson - Expression Home XP-5200 All-in-One Inkjet Printer is $9.99 at Best Buy https://bit.ly/3sJhLLy #ad
beter get it
would you rather get Redfall?
i just dont want to buy ink
Yeah I mean you got nothing to lose trying, but I feel like for a pricing error that steep, they will just cancel all the orders
On a scale of 10 to 11, how likely is this to burn your house down or be like worthless max wattage/voltage? https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1054906950044885062/1175785633839579176/ph-11134207-7r98o-ln6uww2tu69re9.jpg?ex=656c7eb4&is=655a09b4&hm=0d8f151535b63d00681e12b426526fb57a90853352894c1205fd721a32b9ecf3&
for 200wh I'd hope it's a lifepo4 unit
I actually have a 256wh box sitting behind my guitar, I plug some things into it whenever there's a power outage
I feel like for that price, it sounds like a lot, but you try to charge a laptop and you'd get like 1 charge out of it lol
256wh is basically the smallest of those sorts of batteries
Technically that is around 2.5 laptop batteries if you consider most are 99wh or less so they don't run into issues on planes
if I assume I go into a power outage with my laptop fully charged, I can drive the lamps by my desk, and some music (regular desk speakers), and maybe something else for like 8 hours
yep
it's perfect for a power outage that lasts a few hours
but you're right, it's kinda useless lol 😄
it only puts out like 200w at a time so
but a proper like 1kw one that cann power my desktop for a while? those are like $1500 or something idk
I have a Cyberpower 1500VA which is supposedly 900W and the batteries are 12V/9Ah
So that's what? 144wh then?
so it'll power your computer for about 5 mins 😄
Patriot
What an American

tbh the $1000 lifepo4 units are probably a 'better investment' - they can actually be plugged in and used like a UPS, too
Sure, it simply gives me enough time to save and shut down and then the only draw on it after that is the router/modem
and from what I gather they can last like 10 years
which would be a miracle for a regular lead acid ups
Yeah next year will be 5 years for mine, so I probably have to look for replacement batteries then
that you're still on the original batteries 5 years in is impressive af
4 years atm. 5 years next summer or fall I think.
I assume if it needs replacing it will beep at me or something?
The patriots...
That space bar though
Did you replace it and did it come like that
I replaced the keycaps with pudding keycaps but forgot to bring the spacebar xd. its my work kb
Weirdly fits lol
quick question
I don't know about ram and MHz, so I wanted to ask what MHz is generally good for a ddr4 ram
AMD or Intel?
uhm, I have an Intel CPU, if you need I can check which one
I have already 2 stick of 8gb each of DDR4 Corsair VENGEANCE 3200 MHz and my CPU is an Intel® CoreTM i5-10400F
3200-3600 should be fine
I found a deal for 2 stick of 16 gb of the same RAM but with 3600 MHz
like, for 80 euros
RAM speed affects AMD non-X3D more though
that's fine
you just want the same or better. another thing worth considering are the timing numbers
oh, ye, it says it is amd optimized on the ram page
still fine
mh? How can I check these?
what's the ram model or whatever? got a link?
CMH32GX4M2Z3600C18 this should be the model
that's cl18 ram then
any idea what you have right now? for sake of comparing?
i'm pretty sure it's more than fine though 🙂
I'm not sure, but should be these ones
CMK16GX4M2E3200C16
(so 1 stick of 8 GB, 3200 MHz)
ohh
are you planning to use both?
and do you currently use xmp or whatever to oc the ram?
Well, it is 2 sticks of 8gb each, so 16 in total, and ye, I was planning to switch them for 2 stick of 16 gb
As xmp, I don't think I have it enabled, but I didn't configure the pc, so I can't say for sure
to clarify, the new one or the old one I have?
both
you should be able to use them together as well, if you're not overclocking it won't affect performance. If you were, you would end up with the ram operating at whatever the slowest set does
alright, thank you a lot
oh, ye, the other - last thing - as far as ssd storage goes, someone I know reccomended a 980 PRO SSD NVme M.2, is that good?
that particular ssd had firmware issues for a while, I believe. I also think they were resolved.
It requires a firmware update last I heard but otherwise it's fine; personally I avoid Samsung like the plague
yea I was really disappointed with the 980 series. Prior to that they were my go-to SSD brand
going back a few years I felt like they were everyone's go-to brand for a quality reliable ssd haha
I like Crucial's stuff nowadays
they're reliable, they get shit done, even if the P5 Plus doesn't hit top speeds
I think the WD SSDs are fine, too
though I'm not sure which models exactly
goodnight ^^

ye, don't have that one here sadly
P5 Plus?
oh, I meant the ssd you posted
The SN850X is also good
also prob a stupid question, but those are external ssd, ye?
Internal
kk
ya I got the SN850X
oh, wait, is it this one?

it should be OK but try to find CL16 ram not CL18 if you can
Yep, it's a bit slower than most Gen 4 M.2 drives but it'll do
It won't make much of a difference in gaming
You'll be paying a premium for it now
All the cheaper ram I've seen here is C18
tbf I can't find them at all, so
try this
see if it exists in your country
costs 30euro more over there
same kit

uhm...
can't find if it is c16 tough
that's CL18
anyways cl18 to cl16 is like
minmaxing
not worth 30 more euro
I did not expect such a premium
since in my country which is also medditerenean it costs 80
welcome to Italy I guess
do you have a price aggregator site?
like skroutz or whatever
where you can insert the name of a product and it shows you the price of the product on many different stores
try putting this in there if you have such a site
F4-3600C16D-32GVKC
think so, ye, but also I dunno how trust worthy other website outside amazon are (also don't have the same return policy)
Like, I found one for 86 euros
well
in the EU
you have 14 day return policy
and 2year warranty minimum
by law
check store policy as well
you should be fine I've never gotten a dud before here and if you do you can do a chargeback via your bank and you will most likely win it
if its a dud and they refuse to co-operate
you should have a consumer protection agency there as well
you are well protected in the EU from online purchase fraud
tl;dr there is literally a script running in the background to add a 5s delay
used the ublock filter
videos load faster
but yea
google is gonna get sued to oblivion at this rate
you cannot put artificial roadblocks to your competitors
its against the law
so is spying on users addons on their browser
ok, last question for real this time, but are samsung Odyssey g5 monitor good? Cause rn I found that that's on the 210 euros, and then there is also the Gigabyte G27Q, which is 290 euros
oh, and also an MSI one
stick with what the videos told you
the odyssey g5 is not good
and the g27q is just a worse version of the M27Q
watch them slap google with a 1m dollar fine which is like, just a peanut for them
samsung is fucking ass
everything on paper is good but in reality its ass
every once in a while some random user gets a lucky monitor that doesnt or barely has issues but the majority is left with scanlines, firehazard power brick, random signal losses and no dedicated button to turn of the monitor so you have to wait the 10-20 seconds until the monitor realizes there is no longer a signal and then you have 3 seconds to open the menu and turn it off or else it goes to standby

i have like a 50/50 chance of the monitor crying that there is no signal and going into standby mode when entering a fullscreen game, despite being able to see
basically
samsung is amazing when it works
but marred with QC issues
that you may or may not have
its a gamble
not worth taking for the price
my model works and its the best LCD on the market but other people have numerous problems
I noticed YouTube acting funny this weekend
Ublock hasn't been updated on firefox for a bit
and to highlight how the chances are: i had 3 different monitors. all 3 had issues to varying degree and i am currently still with the one that has the least issues
try the quick fixes filter
btw I meant to ask, out of curiosity, is having IPS bad?
under filter lists
well, not bad, just not preferable
and purge --> update
its like this
What happened to the guy who was asking to pay someone to pay to help with their bot
Then didnt pay em
After shue said no paying
VA other than samsung: Shit response times, decent color accuracy, amazing blacks
IPS: Good Response Times, Good Color Accuracy, Garbage Blacks
TN: Top-tier Response Times, Bad Color Accuracy, Bad Blacks
it depends on what you want
what I recommended you was all IPS
I want the light beamed directly into my brain
because the technology is cheap and has advanced far enough to where models are good on average even on the cheap
other than blacks
ah, I see
so it works for most users
makes sense
Hi Nhad
see the 3 videos and make your decision based on your local pricing
banned
my current monitor is an IPS too, and I'm fine with those blacks, so thank you (also all those are like over 400 euros here I think, but I need to double check)
actually, the msi isn't that bad
The blacks are only really noticeable if the whole screen is black/dark and in a dark room
buy it locally from whatever retailer the price aggregator tells you
amazon italy is very expensive
id honestly put TN even below IPS for blacks because all i have had were worse in that regard
mhm
my G7 has excellent blacks tho, night and day difference from my old displays
defo noticeable
but oled is far more
Dimming zones are funny though, for example when there's a tiny logo on a black loading screen on my Sony TV it creates this gross glow effect
that only happens when you dont have enough dimming zones or a shitty software solution paired with them
i bought a new hisense u8k recently and its pretty great in that regard. usually have dimming set to medium
Yeah my Sony is older now
the only glow issue i am having is because the TV is so damn bright in HDR, white UI elements on black backgrounds shine bright like a flashlight
Only has like 48 zones
oh wow
god i am so tempted to buy an ultrawide monitor
but the power alone would cost €100 per year
what
this one
with HDR, it consumes 73 kWh per 1000 hours
my estimate is that I have my monitor turned on for about 10 hours per day
if I take the price of a kWh of power in the Netherlands over 365.25 days
it would cost me almost €100
100, over an entire year.
the monitor itself is also expensive
will you run it in HDR for 10h every day at peak brightness?
out of curiosity, I have a question, are 27 inch monitor better than 24 inches, or is it a matter of personal preference?
#theamazingdigitalcircus #murderdrones #glitch
================
funny meme
listen I know that the actual price will come out under that but with how expensive power is getting (and the fact that I have to share the bill with someone else) it's something I need to consider before making a purchase like this
no monitor size just inherently makes a screen better than another.
like most products, just one thing doesn't make or break said product.
fair enough
you would be better off worrying about what setting you do your laundry in, how often you bake or cook a meal and how old your fridge is than getting a monitor
because all of these eat multiple times more energy than running your monitor for 10h a day
unless you can literally find "average" power usage numbers, you will never actually know how much each monitor uses
some could have more efficient power circuitry for all you know
and 100 per year, is barely anything, yea id be looking at the stuff that actually chews through power
proper appliances, fridge, washer, dryer, microwave, etc
fair enough, a friend was advising against 27 inches cause it could cause compatibility issues with games
uh WHAT?
hell even your vacuum cleaner eats more energy for one cleaning session than multiple hours of your monitor running
Yeah, people really don't think about how much energy motors take up
ya mine says it runs at 80 watts peak but im at 15 percent brightness and not alot of games I play benefit from hdr so its off for the most part
another issue is that I'm not sure my monitor stand can fit it
that makes literally zero sense
Dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, air conditioners
oh, he meant older games have problem displaying at that resolution, to clarify
27 inch, ISNT a resolution
its a physical size
but I probably don't need secondary monitors as much with a screen that big
the only thing that could cause some issues is aspect ratio, but not size of the screen
so again, makes no sense
monitor size and resolution are 2 entirely different things
oh, ye, to clarify, I meant 27 inches with 2k resolution, that was my bad
you can have a 27 inch, at 1440p, or a 27 at 1080p
Wrong, you can always use more monitor real estate
ok then just run the game at lower resolution?
this really isn't a problem
i play OLD games frequently
but wouldn't it look worse on a bigger monitor then
and have zero issues on a 1440p 27 inch
bro I run visual novels from the 1990s and they work fine on my monitor
the only games that have an issue with resolutions are usually extremely old games that simply existed before higher resolutions were a thing

ya I get the weirdest old shit to work on my ultrawide
I'm thinking of getting one of those 27" 1440/360 monitors and moving my 1440/144 to second screen status
doesn't change how the game looks, thats up to you if you dont like it looking larger, but that ALSO depends on how close you sit to it
so again, no
running at non-native would blur the pixels a bit
but this all REALLY depends on the game
is the game so old that 1080p also doesn't work?
or even wide screen doesn't workl
Or badly made ones that don't use scaling properly and only work at the fixed resolution size the developer wrote it to work in
then you will probably still be blurred
27 is a fairly normal size. If you were looking at 30+ inches and 1080p youd start to notice it looking kind of off
flashback to muse dash that only supports either 1080p or 4k
considering screen size and resolution for retro gaming, is really for someone who looks at the pixels one by one, its overkill
