On the topic of the ERX: I just need it to work for a few months tops and I'll get my own thing and put the ERX at my parents house and when it dies it dies and I'll get them something else then.

Was over there yesterday and tore down 4 cables in the basement and identified what else needs to stay vs what can go

Gonna leave the phone line to the garage and the one connected to phantom power at the bottom of the stares in place. They don't have home phone anymore, but in case the next owners want a landline, it can be nice to have a phone powered by phantom power rather than requiring wall power. In case a storm knocks out power etc.

I'm gonna pull down all the other phone lines though and the extra line splitters at the junction in the basement. Just leaving the OG POTS ingress on the wall.

Bc when they got a 2nd line a long time ago, they put 2 more POTS splitters on the wall there for each of the lines and it's a giant rats nest of twisted pairs now

Dad had one of those tape measure spools with like 100ft of line on them that I was able to use to measure the basement and figure I need almost exactly 50ft of conduit to run along the length of the basement. Spurs out to individual wall jacks I'll do with U-clamps

#

And I might try to run the coax down that conduit as well as long as they're long enough to reach where they need to go after adding the extra distance from being in the conduit.

Hmm... so I have the Unifi AP working, but when I try to upgrade the firmware it does nothing

In the mobile app I select Upgrade to blah and it prompts for Update/Cancel and I select Update and it does nothing. Hit Save and it says restarting. When it comes back up it still says update to the same version.

Oh nm I relaunched the app and it shows it's updated now

nah its just not really spiking. the taskmanager is just showing it as such because 450kbps are ofc a lot more than 0
but this is nothing to worry about at all, given that you are running, for example, discord which is ofc downloading data

my only experience with nexen tires were that they are complete hot garbage

our last 300 was a year old when we bought it, and while it came from the factory with michellins, one of the tires was replaced with a nexen tire. IDK, 12k miles. I replaced all of the tires around 30k, and at the time the michellins actually still looked mostly ok, but the nexen was toast.
