and the dells of the early 2000s when they cribbed the micron tower design? those were awful too

Yeah that's expected since the battery is more of a PSU than an actual battery. Desktop replacement without replacing the wall socket power, at least I can take it and use it anywhere compared to a tower.

the only good thing I can say about nest is that as long as you have a reliable internet connection, it'll work
the software may be frustrating, and everything has to phone home directly to google, they very heavily discourage you from doing things like home automation (with things outside their ecosystem) with their stuff
