competing tech standards are cool for a while, but when companies drag them on for decades it's just embarassing

yeap, standard just make things more convenient for consumers, and companies can litearlly just adopt standards and spend less money on R&D

its a win win, but companies like locking people into their products

these days though, in the mobile and laptop/tablet space.
its really only Apple that is still doing that, go figure. they always Loved locking people into their ecosystem.
