I wouldn't be shocked if such a thing existed for xeon CPUs
but idk,....
gov and gov-adjacent stuff sometimes requires TAA compliance which means made in the US
you usually see it with servers though
supermicro makes some servers that are made in the USA but it's probably like stanley
they only make server grade boards too
super micro does make Z series intel boards
I havent looked at their product stack in years but I recall if you even wanted one with a single PCI-E slot it was 900 dollars rofl
rofl
according to the specs
like a green mobo with gamer specs would be cool
it has weird PCI-E lane distribution
meh by my own standards everything using intel Z series has less than stellar PCIE lanes
what's so weird about it?
2 pcie 5.0 x16 oh i see
you either get x16 and x0, or x8 and x8
GN does a mix
they are usually given press samples but sometimes as with the 7900X3D they bought it
the response i'd love to see is something along the lines of
"ok we fucked up but we stand behind our product and appreciate you going to those lengths to blow it up, so in the future we'll send you early samples to test and break for us" or something idk
they were given a Steam Deck review sample last year too
mmmm
now there's a cpu combo with some chest hair
of course a regular 7900x smokes it
!hank
c@ donuts
Why are motherboards such stupid prices
And they don't even make reasonable boards with reasonable features anymore.
If you want like 2.5gbe ethernet + wifi and at least 3 M.2 slots and at least 12 stage power it's like $300+ usually closer to $500
what about one that overvolts your CPU
face of the entire PC oem industry atm
GPUs, motherboards, CPUs etc.
All seem to be like "TDP? What's that?"
"You don't have 240V in your computer room?"
!hank
purple!
Blessed be kupo, delivering onto us, moar purple
!hank
lol
i mean, he has almost 4m subs and they want to hear his opinion.
but he also primarily talks about his own experiences with asus in that video which is good to know
I stopped watching jay cause he just has 0 in-depth information about anything nor does he make his own benchmarks
he offers nothing unique to the table
he does more general tech stuff
lol
he's a classic youtuber
if you are baselining gamers nexus as your standard for all review sites to be judged by, you will be sorely disappointed man
there is hardware unboxed as well
desks, simrigs, studio building, accessories, cases etc. he doesnt go super indepth but offers views into fields that channels like GN do not cover
is that the one with the buildzoid dude that rates motherboards by how good the VRMs are?
he does benchmarks for games, gpus, cpus and some motherboard vrm tests
I remember there was a time between z390 and z590 where every motherboard was judged harshly exclusively by how good the VRMs were
!hank
some people say that's why the nice boards doubled in price
half the time those catgirls are
This bot is rigged to give me vtubers everytime
it's like every time you call !hank your social credit score goes down by 1 point
but it's so fun to do
so if you look at the bright side, ASUS motherboards are about to get cheaper
asussy
no wonder i have been unhappy with my asus board ever since i got it
trash features with trash software for a premium price, which i didnt even pay but i still feel upset about it
that's how i feel rob ๐
and the current gigabyte board feels stacked for how cheap it was tho
i bought a maximus xi hero and was excited to configure the fans and the software at first glance looked cool. but it was useless crap. totally useless crap.
had to buy a corsair controller to get any semblance of decent fan control
3 sata ports, two m.2 slots, PCIe 4.0
and it costed me 129 euro
has a good vrm as well
i switched to opensource RGB and fan control software
Just get a m.2 bifurcator
that aquacomputer thing?
because Asuss software is ass
or
And a board that supports it
nah openRGB and fan control
it works semi decent with it
me and my msi b550 tomahawk that i had before
what I saw with z790 was it was like all the motherboard vendors colluded over features and pricing
there's no competition
the featureset per price is almost identical regardless of brand
that 130โฌ board that did and had everything i needed but i sold it with my old cpu because surely the 500โฌ asus board will be much better, right?
at least it looks pretty i guess
yea but who's gonna see it
even if none of the settings turn off the damn RGB when the PC is off
underneath the giant gpu lol
ohh
I thought that feature was kinda cool
i mean it should definitely turn it off when the computer is off, if that's what you want ๐ฆ
well i can set it to never be on, to always be on or to turn off when i am in sleep mode, but only there

mmmm asus firmware
also with my msi i was able to slap a fan to the pump header and still control its speed. with asus it doesnt work
so now i got 2 fans that are always at max RPM
but they are bequiet and i cant hear them so thats at least not an issue
how can you not hear them
uh oh

but it's my cats favorite /j
yeah it's all pretty bad, i luckily haven't had any problems since updating
7900x and strix b650e
only because it was bundled together
600 for ram motherboard and cpu before all of this came to light
i can imagine it's even less now lol
You did microcenter?
Admittedly I can't help myself I like flashy mobos and ram lol
lol
i'm super basic
i don't want flashy at all
i was so happy that the included ram was super basic looking lol
I mean
There's a 13900k with tuf board for 799
I'm fine with that
But the ram it comes with is lame lol

Also maybe I should be dumb and get a D4 board
Because the thing that bugs me about ddr5
Is that it doesn't like when you use 4 sticks
I mean, why do you really need 4 sticks
4x16 baby
๐ what a waste
Plus it looks nice
Well hey let's be fancy and say 4x32
And there's like no performance difference anyway
why not be super fancy and go for higher density
4x48
Wait I could get trident z royal

The new username thing is stupid bc not everyone can get the same @ name, so it was actually a good differentiator for each one to have a slightly different naming scheme

I'd need to audit a ton of their images, nekos.best publishes a full list so we could spotcheck it.
it's not really an issue if you just update the bios asap
Today on LGR: Building the Ultimate Oddware Tower!
For YEARS now I've wanted to get a huge Antec Twelve Hundred case and fill every one of its dozen 5.25" drive bays with weird and strange 90s and 2000s devices, creating a sort of towering Oddware Museum
437
the one thing that leaves the ryzen 7xxx attractive to me is the lower heat output
SOUL
YES
I gotta watch that later
antec 1200 vs CM stacker?
Bless the 5.25 bay and all the random shit you can shove into it.
i want that
now I'm cuious if thee's any ash tray devices still on ebay
nope i can find it in general just not for sale
!hank
haha whoops
soooo
The first is the signing key that digitally signs MSI firmware updates to cryptographically prove that they are legitimate ones from MSI rather than a malicious impostor from a threat actor.
MSI
so these boards will be excellent modding boards
ME SCREAMING MSI CONTINUES
and the firmware is basically 'open source' in terms of modding now
and everyone's complaining?
times sure changed lol
to be fair, it's kind of a problem if your board can be updated from within windows
Quick Question; I can use the motherboard box as an impromptu test bench with no real issues right?
Considering the boxes themselves are non-conductive and anti-static?
otoh if it can't, or can be disabled from the firmware level........
I'm not sure. I recall someone at work discouraging the practice of setting ESD sensitive items on top of empty ESD bags
I'd throw down the ESD bag if it's short time ontop of the box, black ink is often /slightly/ conductive.
Or just grab an amazon box.
another thing you could consider doing is just screwing motherboard standoffs onto the board to elevate it off the surface
that's how it's usually done with dev boards ๐
I do have a couple of Amazon boxes
Its just the parts for the build I'm doing arrived, but the case isn't due for another week (Thanks Newegg) and I figured I might as well put the rest together and make sure it works no?
If it's a full week, I'd probally at least generally lightly slap it together RN, otherwise, if it's monday/tuesday next week I'd just wait, as I usually have to disassemble everything again to get it in into the case.
!hank
FINALLY SOME PURPLE.
Newegg says arriving Thursday so....
Could go either way.
I would wait
Easier to mount everything in the case, particularly the cooling fan
More so if any of the standoffs would be under something
The only caveat I have is make sure the case has an โopenโ back or w/e you want to call it for the motherboard. I had to remove some vram sinks to get my fan mounted, which would have been impossible if I couldnโt access those screws from the back of the board
Gonna fit this in an ITX build
hehe
Which side should I put the OS drive on vs. the storage drive?
I meant should the OS Drive or the Storage/Game drive get the heatsink?
Oh, generally storage/game. OS tends to be pretty idle.
Alright then
Lego sex toy
if you're brave
Anyone have any idea why YouTube app keeps giving me this error when I try to upload a video?
what the actual fuck
"Thank you for upgrading to Windows 11" after I click a ToS last updated in 2021
I did not click to install it
STOP
It's downloading Windows 11, 22H2, what the fuck, I didn't click a damn thing
what the hell, it's just downloading it... right? It's not a forced update is it?
It's at 8%... and I have no option to stop it. wtf
99% ;;
aaaaand uit's installing
There was no option. It was accept or shutdown
Like the last time it did this, the "Accept" was in a spot usually saved for "Decline", but this time there is no decline button
or, was
๐๐
I refuse
As if you get to choose, unless you go to a superior OS.
That's why I run a patcher.
Do tell
Im not happy with Win 11's ad bollocks and their task bar, but a friend CLAIMS apart from that its virtually identical to 10
https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher Is what I run, gives me a win 10 start menu and task bar.
Lets me set the screen it's on like 10, etc.
Screen pinning was my biggest whine about 11, and this fixed it so shrug
Tbh, it's not /awful/ once you patch it back to being more like 10. ๐
Ngl, i'll probab only jump once i'm forced to
But why patch it when u can just USE 10, ya know?
While it's still viable, of course
Because there's no reason for me to stay on 10 when I'm doing janky shit to 11. ๐
At the end of the day, the longer I wait the more annoyed I end up being when inevtably, I'm forced to change at a time I consider to be inconvenient.
Ah.. i getchu
The 10-11 transition came on a reinstall for me.
So it was worth just doing it to 11 and getting over the pain.
Damn
I gotta redo my monitors first.
They'd gimp the poor 4090 down to 4k30.
Im tryin to convince myself to get a second monitor
Mine's around 1.3 4090's, so I know some of that pain.

I have zero properties so..
No mortgage

I really oughta pick up some properties
The 4k's are on HDMI atm, and it's old-ass HDMI that only supports 4k30
So gaming on them is literal pain.
Hyte sure has expensive kepcaps eh
i appreciate how dumb the input selector hotkeys on my alienware 25" monitors are: If you select the input that is currently active by accident, the screen will blank out and reactivate said input
group policy would prevent that in future
the real meta here is to use linux with fapolicyd and a strict whitelist that only runs binaries where the md5sum has already been verified
bwahahhaha
'what do you mean I can't run python scripts?!'
oh
I like that idea hahaha
@tame fulcrum what's your opinion about 7950x vs 13900k? ๐
with amd you really got to let them cook for a gen or two before buying
never buy the first gen of anything from amd

first new nm process and new AM5 platform? wait a generation before buying if you really want
makes sure stuff is ironed out and fixed
first gen ryzen had problems as well
not surprising first gen AM5 has its own
I think AM5 is fine, it's just Asus decided it was a good idea to overjuice the X3D chips and make them explode
I hope intel pursues longevity the same as amd
would incentivize me more to get one of their CPUs
I like fat caches though
tfw you're trying to convince someone looking at handheld PCs and he goes for the ROG Ally because he thinks Windows on handhelds is a good thing
And that the Steam Deck supposedly cannot run Windows natively
knowing asus they will support the ally for a year or two and then forget it even exists
i saw several people on reddit say they were a huge fan of asus and stuff and were looking forward to the ROG ally and I'm sitting there wondering why
having a more powerful steam deck is appealing
but
it being asus is a thing to be concerned about
asus product = a sus product

there's an nzxt board for $299 that also happens to have overnight delivery as an option
i'm pretty sure it's just an asrock z790 of some flavor or another though
huh that $550 13700k + asus z790-p prime + gskill 32gb ddr5-6000 bundle at microcenter is back in stock again
!hank
!hank
Yeah so you would prefer a 3060ti and 13700k to a 12400f or 13400f and 4070?
-facepalm-
!hank
-ponders going full dumb and buying a z790 aorus master-
oh
people complain about coil whine with those ๐ฆ
yea that's dumb
-pokes ice- how do you like your msi board?
hmm are you using a z690 carbon?
the z790 version of that is one of my top contenders....
my only beef is they don't have the post code display ๐ฆ
the carbon does and it's not that much more
MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI employs carbon black color scheme and RGB lighting to show off different personality and identity. Besides being stylish, it is also powerful. The MPG series brings out fashionable products by showing extremely unique styles and expressing a conceited attitude towards the cha...
I'm kicking myself for not buying that last night when amazon had a $30 coupon making it 399
oh. newegg has a $30 coupon.......
tbh i'll pay the $30 not to deal with newegg on a $400 part
but then if i'm looking at those, the z790 tamohawk is 259
I mean what are my choices
worst case, I buy whatever and get a brick in the box. Amazon would likely refund me. Best Buy wouldn't. And Microcenter is a good 1.5 hour drive.
(with traffic it's probably more like 3 hours)
and unless i get one of those meme bundle deals it's going to cost the same >>
amazon would likely deny the refund because you sent a brick in a box back
lol
best buy you'd at least NOT get a brick
no you can get bricks from best buy
yea, if you're dumb and buy openbox/refurb
if I was patient i'd also add B&H as an option since I have their 'no sales tax' card lol
just build ur own mobo 5head
just fly out to the factory and buy it from them directly
EZ
also best buy's 15 day return policy :S
more likely to work than a custom built laptop
afaik you'd be able to take advantage of the RMA process irrespective of it

tbh
haaaa now that I look at it
i've not touched that laptop since i got my new PC
so pleased with it
and now people cant force me to bring my laptop to work
the msi tomahawk, edge, and carbon all pretty much offer the same thing

unless i'm missing something the specs are almost exactly the same
the carbon has 2 extra usb 3.2 gen 2 ports
there's also that 7 segment post code display on the carbon
but that's it for $200 more haha
tbh, as long as the core specs are the same, you're paying more/less for what's basically a difference in paint theme
ngl, that seems excessively dumb and unnecessary
leds marking the post process or highlighting the problematic component follow the ever appropriate KISS methods
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
yea.
manufacturer-specific POST error bullshit should have been eradicated a decade ago at minimum
so the tomahawk is $259, the edge is $364, and the carbon is $429
admittedly the edge offers style for that $105 lol
vs
good fucking luck mounting the cpu cooler without having to remove some/all of those sinks
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
i had enough issues myself that it just reinforces the reason i took so long to upgrade from my 3rd gen i3
need to take long enough between upgrades i forget how much of a fucking pain in the ass that process was
ah i see, the edge & carbon have 5 m.2 slots, the carbon has a slightly higher max overclock (7600mhz vs 7200mhz .. wtf?! who does that?!) and the carbon has pcie 5.0 x4 available on one of the m.2 slots...
at any rate, i need to be awake in less than 6 hours so... i should probably finally go to sleep
sweet dreams!
also if i do go the 13900k route, i'm going to be heading to bb anyway. amazon doesn't have any in stock lol.
havent had any in decades
i embody the phrase "out like a light"
the corsair junk is always overpriced lol
vengeance with the same rating is 135.98
actually been on the fence about the looks of either haha
112.99 for the xmp stuff instead of the expo stuff
30-38-38-96?

how about that?
funny lol
hmmmmm
wonder how big a performance dump i'd take if i just didn't use expo at all
sadly, fairly big if you are using AMD
and on a 13900k? ๐
i feel kinda hank-ish here while reading about all the expo drama
too many
"I did a thing and now the computer won't turn on" kinda posts X_X
and a lot of them that thing was "I turned on EXPO" lol

just update your bios

I need to make a purple-cats-only API for whenever I use !hank smh.
!hank
This is fuckin comical
lmao which one is that?
7900xtxc red devil
!hank
You got a little something sticking out of your GPU there, might want to take a look at that. Maybe it's some excess silicon that wasn't shaved off in the molding process
Damn that looks familiar lol
My cobbled test bench to make sure it all works
!hank
Yep
My friend recently upgraded to one as well from an 8700K
If its the 32GB version then yeah
ah it went back to 2-6pm lol
ignoring the 7 series drama the other thing I'm worried about here is it only has 8 cores
it's basically the modern day equivalent of my 9700k ๐
but that's ok because I only use it for gaming anyway.
i'm not looking forward to AMD's style of heatsink/waterblock mount
tthey look so stupid ๐
I was stunned that AM5 still uses them
ha amazon has the z690 kingpin in stock again for 399 >>
that wit a 13900k would make a fun build too
oh well, got the 7800x3d coming and I really like the look of that carbon board anyway lol
for $439 it should've come with the damn power/reset buttons on the board though
oh we are, did you not see my rambling about it? XD
i almost bought a 13900k instead
I just really don't want to deal with a 300w cpu
i know it could be tweaked to not be 300w though
it only operates at 300w when using all core synthetic benchmark
pretty easily....
idle is like 10w
let's see what happens lol
i bought it from amazon and can pretty easily just send it back if I don't like it
admittedly I was feeling very impulsive (I really wanted to build something today) and the immediate Z790 options weren't quite what I wanted
i like that evga z690 but it wouldn't arrive till later in the week if I bought it. Also it cheaps out on stuff like the sound equipment to get that XOC thing
has hdmi 2.1
and the msi z790s they had the tomahawk and the edge but not the carbon, and damnit, i wanted the carbon
and somehow none of the memory I was looking at for same day delivery was on the boards QVL ><
which made me laugh
mail man probably got mauled by a pit bull or something
get your money back and get the 13900K
ya know last time I did this I ordered ryzen and canceled the order lmao
damn he forgot to equip the flower crown
pibbles would never
probably a chihuahua
ahhh
almost halfway through the delivery window and it hasn't even hit out for delivery
i wonder if it's gonna end up getting delivered tomorrow
if that happens i'm going to best buy
Long-term quality may not have been up there with the Lexus LS400, but the Park Avenue Ultra definitely gave you a lot of features for your money. It came with automatic climate control, anti-lock brakes, digital gauges, and GMโs DynaRide suspension. You also got big, comfy leather seats with 20-way power adjustments for both the driver and front passenger.
with the weirdest controls i've ever seen
i also find it interesting there appears to be no power way to move the seats back and forward
or the seat up and down (just the tilt of the bottom)
Now I just gotta wait for the case to be here and my PC is complete
Only if two things go right;
1: GPU gotta fit in it.
2: AIO gotta fit in it.
If the AIO doesn't fit that'll be an easy fix since I'll just get some Noctua Slim fans and call it good.
If the GPU doesn't fit I'll uh.....
Do you ever plan anything?
it's probably gonna be fine
@lime wasp which case again? XD
I thought you picked one where you could top mount or front mount the rad
but then I saw your edge-I board
The risks I take are calculated.
My math just could use someone to double check it from time to time.....
Meshroom S
that looks like it has at least a couple ways to mount rads?
what color did you get?
it reminds me of the muticolor stuff walmart/target sell during 'back to school' lol
Black
oh com eon
coulda at least picked black n yellow or something lol
oh well, it's your pc ๐
It only comes in Black/Grey/Blue/Green
there's options for black outside and yellow or grey frame
man it' lame that best buy only sells 5200mhz and 5600mhz ram
or do I just cancel it and go to microcenter....
No, no, the epitome is when the order gets /split/
And you get one at 5 PM and the other at 10 PM
HAHAHA
Bonus points if it's everything other than something normally useless, like a hard-drive.
But it's annoying that it comes later, so you don't build it because you have to wait on the drive.
there are things that limit enjoying the scenario lol
(Not delaying cleaning my desk, nope)
like thsi stupid
13900k vs 7800x3d vs 7950x or something of that sort haha
oh yea speaking of being delivered at 5pm
hehe
Okay, so is it normal to be getting GPU Junc. temp of 95* and GPU Temp 75* when the card is functionally in an open air bench right now?
i mean it's not terrible
!hank
!hank
!hank
Nah, Shue's got the pink braincell, I'm the purple braincell.
!hank
I wish 100% keebs were more common, its almost always like 70% or tkl
1 minute cooldown is a lie
Impala this is unacceptable

there we go
That 60second timers is ACCURATE.
IT'S A LIE
as accurate as the mute timer probably
!hank
Windows says my PC doesn't meet the minimum requirements for Windows 11. I'm not really sure that I want to upgrade to Windows 11, but I have no idea how this could be the case.
Says it cannot be found. I might have it turned off.
what cpu do you have
i9
Intel Core i9-9900K
must just be off then
Yeah probably, but before I turn it back on, how is Windows 11 at the moment? Pretty stable or should I probably wait for a bit?
you atleast have support though
i mean i'm using it and have had no problems
but your experience may vary
!hank
22h2 is stable, dumb default ui aside
may update (not out yet) has some good fixes. not sure on adaptive contrast (for laptops to coax a couple more minuets on battery)
!hank
!hank
!hank
man for 439 that msi motherboard really didn't come with much haha

I paid
179 for my
intel board
just sayin
didn't you buy the 550 bundle?
but they configured something to make it close in price
I asked if I could just grab similar spec ram to get the bundle deal but they said they got in trouble for doing that in the past
yea what got me into this in the first place was the stupid $549 bundle hahahahahah
because I saw the 799 13900k bundle and was going to buy that
anyway, nbd. the important part is the motherboard ๐
there were a few silly things I wanted and I was willing to pay extra to get them x_X
Whelp, talk about getting mixed signals:
Itโs time
what are those white blocky things
ohh those are power cables? they looked weird at first glance
that is quite a lot of cables going onto the gpu
Is there any reason to suspect that the 50 series may require a motherboard upgrade?
considering the fact that even the 4090 does not get bottlenecked with PCIe 3.0
probably won't need a mobo upgrade
we will see
Mine's got a 4.0, so I should probably be fine.
Got an ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus.
my b550 board has PCIe 4.0 thankfully
Man I already cut myself ๐ฆ
Tech demands blood
I... fondly... remember the days of building rigs before they bent all the metal away. lost quite a lot of blood
Sacrifice is needed
LOL I cut myself installing the IO bracket
!hank
Your blood sacrifice brought cute, all is proper
the case looks smol
Itโs a mid tower if I donโt miss my mark
Those isolation chambers are freakin huge tho, kinda like โem
That moment of truth
And weโre locked in lol
I need to figure out how to mount my water cooler now ๐
Wut ok this is cool
M.2 socket 1 has a tool less mechanism for removing the heat sink
Yep thatโs cool
Dude wtf
yea aint that weird?! and annoying
it's the dumbest thing i've seen ;_;
means instead of getting a battery from walmart you have to order that :S
Nah you donโt
You can ghetto rig it with electrical tape
I did it before lol
You just tape the leads to the right sides
With the 9th gen it depends on your particular motherboard. Mine didn't have the software TPM, but I could have bought a TPM for the header if I wanted to. Otherwise I think you can just bypass the check with a registry tweak during install
sigh
one of the 2 screws for my video card support bracket disappeared ๐ฆ
lol I got sidetracked and needed to help someone with something
They're usually pretty standard, unless you don't have the "box o' random computer screws" assembled from the last 4 builds that carry over /s
One of these months I'll finish putting together my other desk and get my setup finished
Fake picture. Where's the smoke and fire!?
Remember to set the EXPO profile
Says 4800 there and I assume it's supposed to be 6000
sadly not going to finish tonight. but at least the hardware is ready lol
40c idle
yea currently says cpu core temp 42c, mobo temp 45c
-scratches his head-
water cooler says its liquid temp is 34c idling though
that's.. pretty normal for me
(it's really warm in this room atm, probably 82 or so)
40c idle is not unusual even for air cooling tbf, gaming is where it starts to matter
you're in windows
and ya have to start wondering why I was concerned about thermals
I didn't want to change cases to something more airy lol
and I'm pretty sure anything hotter would require it at some point
I have a case that is many years old and weird
you do not need a modern case
as long as your current one is not choking its fine
i also might not have done very well with the pasting or contact, but based on the 35c liquid temp I'm going to claim victory there haha
!! lol
windows 11 setup: A media driver your compute needs is missing
well then XD

looks like it didn't like the usb i made. Whoops. ๐
I should've done this with the old build before changing things out.
oh well, will worry about it tomorrow xD

Purple catto
@cerulean talon

Nice
AMD users
basically
That is some top quality purple. nods
Itโs like you want things you donโt have fun with. Chevys, Intel, whereโs the risk they explode every 30 seconds?

Cam I use my pc as a capture card to stream Zelda
I mean my 3080 to
Ti
Or do I need like an actual capture card
Youโd need a video capture device of some sort
Nice
If they'd asked for emulation options maybe. But they asked about capture, so that's the answer they got.
emulation is always an option for capture
is that new one already emulated properly then?
So a deeper tech question; can RAM designed for AMD Expo still work with Intel XMP on an Intel Board?
yes
all XMP/Expo do is allow you to overclock your memory without overclocking the bus speed and thus your CPU
when you see your memory speed on the package, it doesnt actually run at that speed out of the box
it runs at whatever the CPU designated memory bus speed is set at
The cooling liquid vs cpu should, imo, always have SOME difference in temperature because the cooling fluid would radiate some heat between the block and radiator
so you get the advertised speed you have to enable either or
Plus the cpu temp is monitored more directly anyways afaik
It's Real! The Makita 40v Microwave can heat your lunch up at work, the beach, the bush, camping, or anywhere you ain't got no AC power supply. You may think it's a gimmick, but admit it... you want one.

LMAO
Iโm surprised harbor freight didnโt do it first
nah this is one makita's famous niche products
they also make a fridge and coffee maker
Coffee maker is actually more of a โmakes a lot of senseโ thing than a portable nuke-a-pocket
The british coffee dude has a great review of the coffee maker.
man I was strongly considering getting an ROG Ally and installing HoloISO/debloating it but recent events (or rather years of Asus being shit) have made me glad I have a Deck instead
Asus loves putting out products and not even supporting them too
Iโm gonna imagine that official support for the Ally is gonna be absolutely terrible
ITS TIME
ITS FUCKING TIME
@native basalt I FOUND A DEVUCE FOR MY SCHEMES
SEX
I saw Jay's video on his experiences with Asus
Even though I don't watch Jay religiously it's like
how does Asus fuck it up so badly
Lol apparently even LTT is pissed

it isn't much different to botw so yes
isn't listed as tested yet

So I put my G.Skill Tridents which say AMD Expo Cert into an Intel Board and turn on XMP it'll still work?
yes
I'm a good boy anyway
AMD DIMMs will short an Intel board and vice versa
Do you mean "short" as in not get full speed or "short" as in expensive electronic die and sadness?
the latter but also that isn't true
I still haven't played BotW yet.
I think I'll do it after I finish DS3 finally.
Or maybe take an RPG break and do Bioshock Infinite finally, then BotW.
Why would you say it then?

Speed is always gaslighting
it amuses me
I mean Hank did already answer it

Geezus christ.
Why does being plugged into mains matter?
Also, the wattage is gonna be comically low.
I think they were asking if it would still have an XMP profile if you used it on a intel board. The answer to that is probably no. So it would be running at like JDEC minimum instead ๐ฉ
Well I don't want my 6000mhz RAM to get stuck at like 4600 or something
If it won't work properly ya know?
XMP profiles are just automated, you can still do it by hand.
It's not like they're magic or anything, just presets.
it will work fine
this whole optimized meme came because AMD had dogshit memory controlers
and still do

XMP is literally set it and forget it
XMP is not set and forget.
My DDR5 on INTEL would like a word with you.
you turn it on
I've never had it fail to hold at XMP settings ๐คทโโ๏ธ
put the memory clock rating
And it crashes my entire machine, you're correct.
DDR5 memes tho.
okay fair I dont have enough experience with DDR5 but
with my experience going back to DDR2
thats how it always worked
DDR3 on X58 was set it and forget it
DDR 3/4 is alright at it.
If it crashes on XMP then you return that shit bc they listed it would work at those timings
5 is just hot ass.
From my understanding, it's mostly due to the off-board voltage control setup now.
So it acts hyper weird, but first-gen releases on intel ;.;
Tbh, I'm sure it'll be fine in a generation or two.
I just got memed by the early-adopter syndrome.
I have such mixed feelings about those light bars!
Right, my point was that if the water block wasnโt making good contact with the cpu, then the liquid temp would be a bit lower than it was ๐
Idk I think ryobi has Makita beat in the weird shit department
Use how they support the ROG phones as a reference
I have heard of cases with intel chips where the memory controller is the worst part of the silicon lottery and your ability to hold good timing on the ram depends on your luck with the cpu
Again I think the ddr5 is a shit show when it comes to that
What I think is bullshit is these things advertise support for 4 sticks but then neither the intel or amd stuff can reliably drive 4 sticks in expo or xmp
Oh yeah and the memory controllers are only 2 channel
When x299 intels and x399 threadrippwrs were doing 4 channel memory
And here we are paying 500-700 for CPUs that only have 20-24 pcie lanes and 2 memory channels
my Asus, Intel, Nvidia rig just works, with xmp2, just turn it on and it's perfect
idk why y'all have such issues
Honestly idk if I will yet lmao I havenโt tried
it's almost as if @deep sapphire and I were right all along
Iโm talking about what I see and people saying not to do 4 ram sticks
this isn't directed at you specifically, more the general regular populace of this channel
Lol some mad lad did it: https://www.reddit.com/r/battlestations/comments/13h9xrm/cozy_workplay_station/ they stuck rgb fans in a fractal north
Iโve used two sticks with all my builds so far
My intel, nvidia, asus rig black-screens on every boot if I turn on XMP. ๐ฆ
Also hyper-picky about BIOS, but that seems to be an issue w/ all the 12xxx series setups on intel DDR5
Which tells me it was a bad idea to early-adopt, but yolo.
i think 4 sticks looks better :3
so i'm begrudgingly using 2
from what I gathered, 4 works ok as long as you don't use xmp/expo though, otherwise it might work at much lower than rated timings
ive had bad experiences with both AMD Ryzen and Intel 12th gen in terms of memory controllers, with regards to the OC profiles (XMP and EXPO) running memory in an unstable state. my opinion is that it really comes down to the board and how much they've cut corners on QAing sticks of memory (some not only rely on OC profiles for compatibility but will also manually change values without notating this)
and this isnt new either. i used to work in enterprise level logistics and hardware support. we'd have problems with Dell machines having memory failures often and it was tied to default BIOS settings. all of them were Intel-based
in other words, use what works and do the best you can to research and try platforms. sometimes they suck. the brand fanboyism is childish
-chuckle- one thing I am curious about, is if the ram I bought is even on the QVL hahahhahahaa
I haven't yet bothered to check
i did that once by accident! it wasnt on the list. i had to manually set it and it was tedious af
settled at a lower clock speed and looser timings than whats on the packaging lol. quite an expensive mistake on my part
ahh i think I found a solution to creating a windows 11 usb stick!
it's just too good
