damn look at that RAY TRACING
wtf they have a 990?
oh wait
i didn't notice the $13 more was a 990 lol
i wonder if the 990 has the same problems the 980 does
SSD performance is becoming a bit ridiculous though
if not, that's worth the $13 for sure
but for a tiny bit more you can get 2tb
and after the 980 firmware fiasco there's no reason i could ever consider spending that much to have a samsung
yea that's the rub with all of this
$79.99 intel 670p, 2tb, dram, pcie3 and only QLC and not TLC, but hey
the cheapest pcie 4.0 is at least $110-120-ish
and hardly anyone will notice the difference probably lol
PCIE GEN 5 2000GB/S TRANSFER SPEED THAT NOBODY ASKED FOR OR NEEDED

-dances at his desk-
I just want an SSD that never dies
can we get that instead of huge transfer speeds
thanks
i think @deep sapphire will dig that pic 😄
SLC SSDs are about as close as you can get i think
how much do they cost?
$712 for a 64gb lol
that's strange
intel used to sell SLC SSDs
optane?
Speaking of iphone, what's the cheapest of the current gen?
idk may trying out le vtoobing kekw
Ya iirc the L2D using iphone (more like the FaceID) for face tracking
Half body tracking.......idk...
Shylily's tracking and how she (ab)uses it are p impressive w all of the boingboing
advanced tech right here
My PC is making weird noises, any idea what might be causing this
No download is happening and the sound is different when something is being downloaded
not going to happen just by the nature of how SSDs register data
SSDs also die if you leave them unplugged for too long, you need the bias voltage to keep the storage condition state
MSI trying to recruit me
seems like alot of work
I'm 100% WFH right now
at 60k lol
@deep sapphire @sly elk Just to give you guys an update everything is working flawlessly
Front Panels work, LEDs work, GPU is firm in place, and I made triple sure that all of the cables are firm in place.
What’s the pay like
it says 70-80k
on the bottom line
I'm just going to do the interview
for practice lol
haven't done the interview in a while
if they offer me 80k I probably won't take it just to go back to the office
my job is SUPER EZ right now
rather take the 60k and WFH
then drive in california traffic
every morning and afternoon
wait
HAHAHA
this might be MSI
a granite company
MSI’s corporate headquarters relocated to a new distribution center in Orange, California. It's a one-stop shop for countertops, floor tile, and more!
lol
this is even more amazing
It's funny because MSI the tech company is nearby
okay nevermind it's the fans, no doubt about it. I'm just wondering if it's safe for me to remove the GPU to only keep the big one above
"Wait are you working at MSI? Can I RMA mah GPU?"
"Sorry we only accept tiles, if u want to RMA ur GPU pls go to this direction"
lmfoa
guys
this is crucial
please go find a beaver and thank them for their service
Already did
I will eat a beaver
No
!hank
Protect the trees, eat a beaver
!hank
fuck the trees
I mean if you insist

yeah lmao
the DLSS mod for RE Engine games just destroys the official FSR implementation even
or even the official DLSS implementation in MHR
performance mode
lol
might as well post the other slides too which arent as devastating
ngl, that is a very, uh, biased chart
How?
god damn 🥵
boolean chart, "it is better or not".
ofcourse one thing can be better, but the chart doesn't show how bad FSR is.
Hmm... dunno what else could they use
Probably higher fps?
so, you don't really know.
it is a chart that says "this is better" but no point of data.
I see
ofcourse, it is probably taken from a video, but the chart itself 🥴

here watch the video
I have a 1070 and I do not even need performance mode at 1440p
quality is enough
not sure who would use it
AMD worse AI upscaling, worse ray tracing, worse drivers and only 100 dollars less
the main downside to dlss is that it requires dedicated hardware for it, FSR works on all gpus within a pretty substantial few gens
works on 94 percent of the GPUs sold on the market

for fsr yeah
and that is the neat part, it works on most GPUs that are modern
FSR
it gives old gpus a new lease on life on modern games
yeah, where dlss kills old gpus before 20 series
DLSS will always be better than FSR
cause it requires dedicated hardware inside a GPU
FSR needs nothing
once FSR comes out with a hardware reliance requirement it'll likely be better
i know there's talk about fsr3 potentially working on even older stuff despite the frame generation thing
nobody is saying that FSR is better, but FSR being so widely accessible is a great thing
DLSS can keep its superior quality for NVIDIA GPUs
can't wait for dlss 4 to kill support for 40 series
but all I know is this
my 1070 can keep going for longer now in modern games thanks to the tech
and since it's open source you can mod it into games
which means I do not have to make some bad decision purchasing a super expensive GPU and I can afford to wait for better prices
RE4R on high with 50-60fps on a 7year old GPU
tbf you can do that for dlss too
there are mods that add it to games
but it isn't anywhere near as easy
the video shows it and it many many cases its that AMD has worse artifacting/flimmering with patterns, fences, grids etc especially at an angle
that seems to be the biggest flaw, while most other things are barely different and/or barely noticeable
but he also talks about bad ghosting with dlss but criticizes that its not worse than flimmering
realistically its like FSR is 1-2 major versions behind DLSS depending on which version is implemented into a game
dlss was also behind a lot in comparisons
the latest dlss version is 3.11 or something
you can put it in through dlss replacing tbh
the dead space ghosting
I wonder what DLSS 4/FSR 4 will even be
hopefully something actually worth it
time for FSR 3 first
FSR3 will probably be shit just like dlss3
TXAA all over again
frame gen is interesting but it just increases latency too much
it's faster, but generally worse than MSAA or SSAA
but remember, with nvidia you pay the premium for having the card kill itself or spontaneously combust.
especially fine patterns like chain link fence tetxures
but it's faster until it dies
actually accurate. the image is like TAA/TXAA
my 1070 is still alive and kicking after 7 years
when you said it struggled with high moire textures I knew exactly what it looked like and AMD also struggled with TXAA back in the day
not to mention nvidia keeps shitting on their AIBs so the AIBs are eventually going to demand better treatment
do new cards have more problems?
for the same reason, their algorithm uses a faster, less precise calculation that cheats performance for good enough image quality
wow, it's magic, it works on old hardware
nobody ever stopped to wonder why that is
looks good enough in most games i have used it in to not be terrible during actual gameplay
just sucks if you really pay attention to the details
the thing fsr struggled with
in RE4R was water'
damn that thing in some specific areas has so much ghosting you wonder if there is something fucky with the GPU
thankfully the water section is very short
smoke em if you got em
Smh
LMAO
the reason why I recommend AMD gpus to folks that come here asking for advice is because they are great for their price point as of right now, if that changes I will change my recommendation, I am not a fanboy, I am simply following what I think is right for the circumstances, whether it is budget or vram or power
Smh
Yea I am not a fanboy of any hardware platform
Between 2019 and 2022, groups of Tesla employees privately shared via an internal messaging system sometimes highly invasive videos and images recorded by customers’ car cameras.
based
good thing every new car has incredibly invasive telemetry and camera systems on it
if you didn't already have an excuse to not buy a car that looks like a loaf of bread, there ya go
I would prefer my car to be dumber than a mister universe contestant, thanks
the smartest thing about my car should be recognizing there's a key in the ignition cylinder
knowing chrysler they're using the modem as a ground sink for the fuse box, so if you yank it the entire frame goes live

i don't recommend buying a 5700xt because those were almost certainly used for mining
also older drivers, less reliable drivers probably
(and I say that when I admit, the 5700xt I had was very reliable and I only had 1 software issue with it)
You were certainly lucky with your 5700XT
almost every 5700xt owner I know of happened to sell their card and bought ampere or rdna2 instead
as rdna1 was horribly unstable for most users
bugged display engine (hardware bugs, cannot be fixed by drivers), very sensitive to power and requires literally perfect XMP profiles
the 6600xt is a bit faster but it has support for newer APIs (DX12_2) and is much more stable overall.
I would def pick that one instead
if you play FFXIV I wouldn't recommend a 5000 series AMD GPU, even though the issues seem to have eased off
So question;
Would you rather pay $225 for an ITX motherboard?
Or use an MATX Motherboard for $265 with it's better connections and slots?
The issues weren't really fully fixed but mitigated. but still, can't really suggest RDNA 1 at all unless the price is extremely attractive.
what kind of matx board costs 260$
The one from ASUS
It's normally only $200 but its only sold by 3rd Parties at this point so.....
Oh. My. Fucking. God.
I figured out why my PC was making a weird snoring noise
It was the fucking power supply being on eco mode
Well thank god now I can concentrate
LOL
Question:
The way this guy installed those two bottom fans - does this actually work fine or is it too close the GPU fan will cause cooling issues?
Waste of fans/10
nevermind
there'S s still a snoring noise coming from the power supply
at least I know what'S faulty
what brand
Yeah AMD is the goat for not charging more for less vram, and the prices are decent
shame about everything else
I disagree. People talk about drivers but they are not that bad anymore
Such drag from previous generations
Adrenaline shits on control panel
Better aib at this point
The question is though; do you want to do VR?
Because then AMD isn't even an option really.
VR games kinda feel more like a niche party trick then anything
There aren't many super fun vr games imo
That are like good length with lots of content
Pavlov
The Bethesda VR games
Hell I want to get VR just to play Skyrim/FO4 VR
Someone made a mod that let's you interact with still living actors
So you can legit just grab folks by throat the toss'em around
Or do the Hulk -> Loki smash on'em
EVGA 850W B5 series PSU
Lmfao I've actually built two systems for folks solely for vrchat
But mmm yeah there arnt many VR games as is
I mean, I do disagree on this one. AMD drivers has gotten a whole lot more stable as of recent years and same goes for their newer cards
while RDNA 1 and Vega were a disaster
RDNA 2 is fine, same goes to RDNA 3 (if you don't look at RDNA 3's idle power usage lul)
its more specific gens which NVIDIA is also guilty of
kepler became useless in just 2 years
fermi was well known to overheat like mad
the GPU sag that will happen with this one...
Vr chat is wild as hell but not much of a game lmao
Skyrim vr would be cool if it wasn't released a thousand times on every plat
HLA is the true killer app of VR
He put a support brace under it at the end
I don't even think vega was that bad, I ran a radeon vii before my 3080
had a Vega 56 earlier, horrible experience
My rad vii was great, my gf is still using it
I think vega 56 had a bad bios?
That was a bit ago in time I don't remember the best
tried updating its VBIOS, used different drivers. nothing helped
RMA'd it and got a 1070 instead tbh
Tough
Vega was a rough moment, but I liked mine
I originally wanted to run two vega 64s in crossfire before getting the vii
then upgraded to the 3080 10gb at its launch (paid msrp lmao) and pretty much using it to this day
I probably might stick with nvidia for the next gen as I depend on CUDA these days
for work reasons
I've got a 10gb 3080 as well, but I'm not a fan of it
This is gonna sound like a dumb reason but I had to turn graphics setting down went I went from 16gbs to 10
That and it's also got a shitty aio that's annoying
pretty happy with the card and didn't run much into VRAM limitations but I game at 1440p (no uw 1440p or 4k) so perhaps that's why
however, I did plan on a 6800xt at the time but the problem was actually getting one
stock of AMD cards is far more annoying to deal with in my region
hopefully RTX 50 cards will have proper VRAM capacity to work with as the 40 series looks like a complete meme (apart from the 4090)
Oh yeah wasn't that a 900 series card
rx580
Damn, I should convince someone to trade my old msi 580 for that lmao
I do think whenever I upgrade (probably around rtx 60 series cause I'm a broke college student now) imma go with radeon
Always just had better experiences with them
if CUDA wasn't a factor to me, I would just go with the best offering for my money in terms of stability and performance
Working retail is nice cause I get discounts on most pc parts, just not cpus or gpus unfortunately
neither AMD or NVIDIA give a damn about the consumers. just pick the option that makes most sense for you and your needs
Yeah thats probably my reasoning is because I had more stability with amd personally
And having more vram is typically nice
nvidia cares about the consumer
you can spend more time gaming and less time running DDU with 8 different drivers until you find one that doesnt crash playing monster hunter

nvidia with the funky closed source linux drivers and the random "bad update" and the 20 year old control panel? the nvidia that keeps jacking prices up and sold a ton of gpus direct to miners? ahh man
can't say AMD is any better though
that company is opportunistic when they can get away with it
the only thing nvidia can be shit on for is its bullshit price adjustment
but stability, performance and features all go to nvidia
if each brand had the same price with similar raster performance I would still go with nvidia
i don't think I feel that way about any brand
AMD needs to get its head out of its ass and actually invest in the brand instead of giving it second hand TSMC stock and doubling the shader core count calling it a day
it is nice that intel invests a lot into foundries and stuff
the 6000 series was arguably the best AMD has ever been in years and yet they only lost marketshare
what logic is that
yeah I hope intel can catch up
we really need a 3rd player
idk at least with AMD i dont see cards catching fire every gen
and yet it weirdly only happens to nvidia
-fondly remembers the issue with evga 30 series cards blowing up-
-and evga 10 series cards blowing up-
my evga 1070 blew up because they forgot to put VRM thermal pads on
good ole evga
they also used to be the #1 brand of "Press F for my video card. It lived a long hard life. RIP." On /r/pcmasterrace
the replacement was fine though, I still have the card and its worked fine since I dunno 2016 or 2017 cant remember the year it blew up
and like
whenever the subject of which brand to buy came up
there was always someone who'd talk about how great evga was
because they had to RMA their evga card
evga awhile back had a really generous warranty package
usually their gen n card blew up and they'd get a gen n+1 replacement
thus the reputation
but as the years progressed that kept getting worse and worse
my 580s had a lifetime warranty
yea that makes sense
but they had US tech support which was nice
LOL
it's like buying TOMS shoes
except instead of sending a free pair to some poor kid in africa
they send a free product to some twitch streamer
one thing I've been wondering lately
is if noctua & fractal design have the same marketing strategy for extended warranties as secretlab does
secretlab == you get a like 3 year warranty extension for free if you post on reddit about your chair and email them a link of the post
fractal/noctua must == you get a warranty extension for making a snarky post about your not-RGB build on /r/battlestations
wasnt the primary reason because of that EVGA stepup programme, where you could upgrade to a new card and only pay the difference of your current EVGA to the new gen?
that was also nice
I never understood that program
me neither, it was a huge loss for the company lmao
its like with phones, where carriers give you the option to upgrade every year
microcenter does something similar
if you buy their warranty
you can RMA it with the store for any reason
and get all your money back
within a certain time period or ever?
so if 3 years later new nvidia card comes out, just say the card doesnt work they dont even ask
get your 1600 bucks back
buy new card
rinse and repeat
they probably stopped doing it because of the constant issues with miners
i think when you bought a card direct from evga
iirc it used to be that it had to be the current gen card that you want to upgrade to the next gen
but it had to be EVGA ye
you got 90 days to either buy the extended warranty, or do a step-up
but they would get you both ways
- you had to pay MSRP for the new card, 2. they only credited you what you paid for the old card
the extended warranty was expensive AF for 30 series cards
ah well never really bought EVGA anyway, because i always found their coolers to be bad and the actually good cards where so overpriced
@tame fulcrum single handedly destroyed the EVGA GPU division anyway
Ikr
!hank
So....would the 140mm AIO in the H1 V2 be enough for a 7700x? If I replaced the fan with something more powerful like the Noctua 140mm?
yeehaw
!hank
6600's only about a bit more expensive it looks like
I developed a seething hatred for nest products a couple years ago
it's such a bad platform
but there are some upsides to it
for one: the service is on the cheap side. $12/mo for 30 days of 24/7 recording from an entity that does have decent security.
for another, the cameras are well built (even at twice the cost of the alternatives), they have a decent mobile app with well-written english, they have a website you can view and control your cameras at
but if you try to load the nest app on firefox or an iOS device, it is SLOW AS FUCK
like oh my gosh it's so slow
and the platform is terrible for continuous monitoring on a tv/monitor
there's no way to monitor locally so you have a long delay because of the round trip for the video to travel
and if you leave the browser logged in for long enough the app will kick you out and make you sign back in
did I mention the process to change wifi networks on a nest cam? HA
you basically have to factory reset the camera, scan the barcode on the back of the camera in the app to re-add it, etc
also (at least the older cams) they don't do things like Power-over-Ethernet and the nest outdoor cams have a comically large connector on a long cable that is permanently attached to the cam
but virtually all security cam solutions are AWFUL
I loved how eufy was sold as a high-security apple homekit encrypted video thing and then boom it turns out their security is shiiiit
sorry for the long rant lol
my favorite cameras are the onvif-compatible rtsp streaming kind
sadly I think those are almost all considered unsafe to put on a network because they're made by sketchy companies in china
yeaaa
there may be some other ubiquiti alternatives, but it's pretty much what I' figure I'll eventually have to switch to
but unifi protect is.. basically locally hosted nest cloud
their cameras are not particularly cheap
and iirc there's a monthly service fee too....
tp-link
oh
there is no monthly fee for unifi protect
good.
your other alternative is to just use amcrest/dahua or hikvision or some other random chinese crap and just put it on an isolated network
(amcrest is funny, i think amcrest itself is american but they just buy dahua cameras and slap their logo on them)
i suspect lorex is also an american brand selling chinese cameras
heh oh yea
DAHUA TECHNOLOGY TO SELL LOREX TO SKYWATCH
dahua straight up owned lorex lol
i also.. i like my ubiuqiti hardware
one of my wifi APs went through a fit of instability but a software update seems to have fixed that for good
and aside from that the stuff has just worked and worked
I just use an office chair lol
https://youtu.be/-aMiEszQBik anyway who remembers 3dfx
Grab our BRAND NEW Silicone Project & Solder Mat! https://store.gamersnexus.net/products/gn-project-soldering-mat

!hank
apparently a tryhard... makes sense
I would simply pick this one instead if the price gap between the two isn't all that large.
Do we have any news about AM5 APU yet?
Turns out the xt's are sold out 🥴
So it's either 6600 non xt's or 5700xts at the same price
seems like they are limited to laptop sku's for now (and in extra confusing model number because of mixing of zen versions with rdna2)
desktop apu's I don't know anything about
They might be waiting for old apu stock to run out before they release am5 apus
(on the note of laptops I'm trying to decide between one with a 3050 ti and half assed battery life, and an acer nitro with a 3060 which will be a plugged in queen)
I haven't heard of good things from nitros
They were about as bottom barrel as you can get as far as gaming laptops go, when I was still kept up on tech
Maybe things have changed
the 2022 version has improved thermals but that's not saying much (will be an intel one so can undervolt so it's nice and comfy)
micro center has a lenovo with a plain 3050 but not sure that's a good idea long term (battery is much smaller than the acer - and that's a pig battery wise)
Ngl I do want a decent desktop AM5 APU
!hank

Nobody, dad
They had cool box art
back when every gpu had that loud as shit single blower fan design
or just a bare heatsink
!hank
he's MORBING
Would the 140mm AIO in the H1 V2 be enough for a 7700x? If I replaced the fan with something more powerful like the Noctua 140mm?
Gib
I do want to plunge onto the AMD side (also bc linux kekw) but then I do have some other work that is better w nvidia
dual 70mm fans lets go
So uh, APU is kinda smorter choice
but then AMD cards can fit SFF cases while nvidia is not....
they're 500 bucks here
Also used or brand new?
used
Yeah, but then you could just spend $20-$30 more and get a 3060 and beat that 2080
Ahhhhh fair
And it'd be new
??
a 3060 is nowhere close
Eh ngl 3060/ti is still a decent choice
lol
ti is faster than a 2080 super
Not rt stuff right?
3060tis here are 450-500ish
Oh.
I was looking in US where they're like $350-$380
a used 2080ti might not be a bad choice
its cheap nowdays
used
if i wanted to buy a gpu from amazon US
Ngl not a fan of connector stuff :/
a 3080 would be way beyond my price range
30 has the same old 6+2
Ah
Some 3090s and 3090 Ti use the 12VHPWR, but not the 3080s or lower
Ya 300USD-ish if brand new
Didn't expect a madlad used that then yeeted on secondhand market kekw
My fellow usually just go for nvidia
A rare few gon AMD
Intel.......maybe 5 peeps
Intel Arc is in a pretty good spot for what’s effectively a beta product
smol
anyways
i might go for the 2080ti if it's still there by the time i get funds for it
and you absolutely need nvidia?
no
but it's the only half decent think i can find in the price range
6700s are 400
I'd love to search for prices myself but idk country or what site you are looking at
some 6700xt/6650/6750's are going for 500+
Holy
waaaaaa
yeah.
And here I thought SEA price is alr weird
Only options are to buy used, refurbished or import at high tax rates
is importing from another country from the same region as you expensive?
i would have to check
South america?
SEA
I'd assume there are agreements in place between the countries for the sake of trade and less import taxes
And ya my frens there said the PH GPU market is pretty f-ed
yup
most of the half decent options are used cards from other regions or locally (mostly china)
could even go with aliexpress
mining cards are about as reliable as used cards from other sources
so it doesnt really matter to me
Yeah.....
replacement fans are fairly cheap in the off chance that the bearings on those are giving out
check the markets from other countries in your region then you might find something much better out there than a 2080super
Prob the issue of import tax
Eh depend on the country and the rate of said product
If you have a fren in the region that can toss their card in luggage and gib it to you like UBEREAT in xiv to avoid tax, it's cheaper
but fren where
tax here depends mostly on the item you're importing and not where it's from
so i heavily doubt looking elsewhere is going to give me good results
Huh
hm
aliexpress has free shipping to US/EU from what I know(despite import taxes)
so maybe that can be an option
Nah still have custom in SEA
ali shipping to my country is either expensive or goes through our awful postal service
- shipping as well
and still is subject to taxrates if it's valuable neough
Ngl I haven't try to get stuff on lazadia that importing
prices here are dogshit awful, nhada
very
Imagine Bozja under Garlemald pre Baljasien
Ye that's PH
Might go for something cheaper if the performance hit isnt too bad I guess
id be careful with lazada
site has a lot of fake vendors that're looking to scam people
and they're pretty bad at filtering them out
so its like philipine amazon?
shittier amazon, pretty much
Ya
shopee fills the same role
Well not just PH but SEA amazon
Lazada, shopee
Grab is our uber and actually kinda fine
sucks that there are so many shops out there like this
they put up fake listings with pictures stolen from other legitimate vendors
if you ever order from them they'll try to send you a defective/wrong product that's significantly cheaper, or try to get you to pay through a third party money transfer in order to get around the buyer protections on these sites
You can usually tell that they're fake listings whenever the prices are too good to be true, and the vendor doesn't have any reviews
plus, they tend to have listings that're copied over from different vendors
520usd for a 3080 is about the price I'd expect from a used 3080
I know about lazada and shoppee cause I looked for tech for Aoi
I see :/
Lazada and shopee: always look for reviews
this was the specific listing i was looking at
i do have to check if it fits in my case first
Found a couple of interesting postings
3060ti is interesting for 360$
for your local prices
Brand new?
USED 3060ti
like its not a good price for a used card
but for the local prices its ehhh
the 6600xt is tempting for 240$ but its not from an AIB I recognize
mmh
there are 5700xts for a lot less that have around the same performance, i think
Only 2 review and one of it is weord, another one is trustworthy
I do have an ITX case, so extra long cards wont work
I think Aisurix might be one of those companies who repurpose old gpus and slap new coolers onto them
yeah
https://shopee.ph/Colorful-GeForce-RTX-3060Ti-NB-V-(USED)-i.322486422.20653976868?sp_atk=319170c4-ed9f-4ef3-b11f-ab6cdd44cc8c&xptdk=319170c4-ed9f-4ef3-b11f-ab6cdd44cc8c here is another listing but it only has 1 review, sketchy
Ah ye what's the max length gpu allowed?
Slightly sketchy, the other stuff of that shop has more reviews
Which is kinda fine......?
actually sketchy listings tend to be from sellers with no reviews or all bad ones
yeah
this vendor's probably at least okay
5700xts are about as fast as 6600xts.. right?

its something that i have to consider given pricing here is awful
a majority of users including myself had tons of issues with it
6600xts are a hundred bucks more
please don't buy an amd 5000 series gpu if you play ffxiv
and a lot less bug ridden than a 5000 series card
5000 series was just awful to deal with 😐
all the old reports i've seen were fairly old
a lot of the people that used 5000 series upgraded during the pandemic
and i dont care about ffxiv nearly enough to actually care
yeah, because they sold for a shitton due to having a high hashrate
I mean, if you want to take that gamble, that's on you, but based on the disproportionate amount of issues we saw in here, we have to say something
yeah and they wanted to get rid of that awful card
https://shopee.ph/PNY-GeForce-RTX-3070-8GB-UPRISING-Dual-Fan-Triple-Fan-USED-PALIT-6GB-GTX-i.299339866.20764067072?sp_atk=a741dc7b-d3dd-41d3-9a10-811859c3c9ef&xptdk=a741dc7b-d3dd-41d3-9a10-811859c3c9ef suspicious price but maybe worth a look if the store is legit
for a huge amount of time we'd get "I have directx errors" and we'd know it was a 5600 or 5700
the listing seems fucked tho
That.. does look pretty suspicious
ye
I've been wanting to move away from FF anyway
I wouldn't get a 5xxx series gpu
well
this guy seems to have just used it for mining
i wonder why they aren't selling it for more, though
if it was EU/US I'd say whatever, 400$ for a used 3070 does not seem sus
yeah
probably a good deal if it's real
oh
it's a 3 slot card
might be.. a tight fit
nod
I am looking but, I'll have to sleep on the decision
i have a 1660s and it hasn't been struggling per se
Mine is just 1660 but still fine
But an upgrade's really tempting
Specially since I don't really cap out on 144hz in some games
HARK! TEMPTATION RINGS!
Eh ngl me rn thinking upgrading my DDR4 systems then forget about it for at least few years
Then retire it to my cousins' minecraft machine idk
Are you on am4
It's probably cheaper to stretch it out and just get a 5800x3d instead of hopping to a ddr5 platform
Unless you need the extra performance
for an upgrade
I'd suggest against 8gb vram for now but
anything with more is more expensive over there
the 6700xt should have been less expensive
its 360euro here
Can't really change the shit pricing here, unfortunately
440$ is pushing it
I did see a 6700 for 410
but the 3070 would be a better deal at that point ( if it actually fits)
Ya that's actually my plan, get decent CPUs, maybe extra memory then keep em running
I only get DDR5 after DDR4 be like, really obsolete
The platform's still good, yeah
hm
more vram helps these days
what resolution are you at
8gb might be fine for 1080p
I see
DLSS definitely helps then and FSR
a 6700 would be nice for the vram buffer but a 3070 is good too
the two are about equal in terms of recommendation from me
at 1080p
for 1440p I would go for 6700/6700xt for sure tho
vram buffer
I might go with something cheaper, maybe
i was originall yjust looking for something in the 6600xt range as far as performance went
simply download more VRAM
I found a box full of them.
:(
I got 1tb of vram thanks to a download 😎
annoying thing is i'm basically in the same buying situation as 2 years ago
actually i've had my card like 29 months now

dang
Rad
sounds like an email tracker rather than a verification url
well, added in also
like how sendgrid overrides url's to track clicks
not unusual
maybe you can find the redirect url in the query
Best Buy should add TVs to their upgrade+ plans
I would totally upgrade my TV every 5 years if there was a good plan for it
That heavily depends on brands. I have a Hisense TV and there is no ads throughout the main OS
Only ads on the GoogleTV platform
Yea, TV brands should cut down price and just not have apps included. Partner with brands, and just include the stick.
Hmm I am in the tech space and must be too young to know it
Oh LMAO
by definition, most monitors are still 'multisync' lol
the thing I most distinctly remember about CRTs is how much heavier a color CRT was than a monochrome one
(also how much more pcb)
there were certain early models that tried to have too much functionality for their time
and they just had massive PCBs
DVI was mostly digital with a few pins for analog 😄
yep yep
i don't remember dvi-to-hdmi adapters coming with cards
but I do remember dvi to vga adapters coming
I had so many at one point lol
tbh i wasn't building PCs at that point
i had piles of dvi to vga
that's when cards began to adopt dual dvi
early 00s
hdmi has never been good for pc
used it since my U2410
🙏
I remember when GPUs only did 1 video output at a time
and then there was the geforce TwinView
also the vooodoo 3 3500 with the cool breakout box thingy that could connect to tvs and even be used to watch tv >>
even today i think that hockey puck adapter thing looks cool >>
the all in wonder cards were cool
neat
hehe
all in wonder, I also remember wanting one of those
they kept making those for quite a while after nvidia bought 3dfx
is that an external power plug?
where?
whats this dog shit doing on my screen
9800 pro is goated
faster than your 4090 mate
I liked ati because they let you overclock anything hahaha
like, I could overclock the gpu on my powerbook g4
which part
the GPU
super mario sunshine now supports DLSS
the good old days
some argue sega killed 3dfx
i always wondered why people revered the FAMICOM so much
the NES was a way better design
FAMICOM
it looked dumb
and cheap
because sega decided at the last second not to use them for the chipset
like some cheap dumb console ripoff thing you'd buy at big lots
nice going SEGA
damn thats gettin me in the mood
it looks like a thing from 7-11

that makes the nacho cheese sauce
the NES was so extra
with its gigantic cartridges and the whole slot thing
man what was it that had the CD add on
a lot of consoles had one
but the Genesis had the CD yeah
CDX was a hybrid console
a very interesting one
it had the form factor of a compact CD player
and you could put batteries in it
and use it as one
i'm sad they gave up after the dreamcast
oh wow
yeah it is insane to see prices on NES games and stuff
629 bucks for it

its insane to me how many failed consoles sega came out with in the 90s rofl
Nomad, CDX, CD, Saturn, 32X
like fuck
lol I had a friend that had the ugh oh man
to be fair they didn't market any of them except the dreamcast
made one console
SNK
yeah
also did the nomad really fail?
insane
I wanted a Neo Geo so bad lol
oh lol
we did end up getting a 3D0
The Nomad was the last handheld console released by Sega. Released late in the Genesis era, it had a short lifespan. It was sold exclusively in North America, and uses regional lockout. Sega's focus on the Sega Saturn left the Nomad under-supported, and it was incompatible with several Genesis peripherals, including the Power Base Converter, the Sega CD, and the 32X. About 1 million units of the Nomad were sold, and it is considered a commercial failure.[1]
but they can go for 3-400 dollars
had some game show game that was so fun
yeah
that was me and both brothers Christmas gift lol
oh wow
we were pretty broke tbh
original box
LMAO
The Nomad could be powered by an AC adapter, a battery recharger known as the Genesis Nomad PowerBack, or six AA batteries,[6][14] which provide a battery life of two to three hours.[4] The Nomad consumed more power (DC 9V, 3.5W) than Sega's earlier portable gaming console, the Game Gear (DC 9V, 3W).
yeah the Nomad had like
wow
i was thinking
and those old TFT screens ghosted like a mofo
why would anyone buy a game gear if they could get a nomad
yeah
but also these old games didn't really translate well to portables
like i doubt the nomad had sleep mode or save states
fit**
and it came out in 1995
because the only thing "stopping it" was the pass through A/V cable couldnt fit
but nope, still didnt work lol
consider this
the nomad was basically a mac 128k shoved into a portable
idk it still sounds a little on the wild side haha
Apple notebooks in general were well ahead of the competition for the time
the funny thing about that Dreamcast story is that Sega didn't just deal a blow to 3DFX, they then went to an unknown chipmaker for the chipset instead of Nvidia, which killed third party interest in the Dreamcast
they were putting full desktop class CPUs in them
Sega almost killed two companies with that move
there is a piece of homebrew that lets you run gc games in wii mode, usually a wii will clock itself down to play gc games at the same speed as a real cube
they were so poorly managed
Sega does what Square Enixn't
usually nets 10-20% performance boost
what a nerd!
honestly Square Enix feels like they're loooong overdue for just a kick in the nads like Sega got around that time
its named nintendont
SE is so mismanaged too 😔
all the games they released late last year are $20 new now lmao
they botched Eidos, they botch their own games
now they botched FFXIV
EW sucks
literally the worst expansion this game has ever had
thank you for your opinion
why tf did they take yoshi P
having an opinion about ff14 story makes you the bigger nerd

the story isnt the problem, the problem is the patch content
well the story pacing was pretty bad but that isnt new to the game
have fun playing 300 hours of single player content before you can do end game
I am really not here for another argument about Endwalker, that is not what I signed up for
I am here to shit on Sega

sure
where's bidori
how the fuck did AMD create a CPU that has to turn off half its cores to run video games
like what the shit
and
AND
supposedly most boards dont support the 7800X3D
without a bios update
are we seriously STILL doing this AMD
1-800-AMD-HELP
I NEED A RENTAL ATHLON
HELP
yeah that blew my mind too, the one CPU they made that doesn't have that issue will still turn off half its cores because the OS gets confused and thinks it has to unless you do a fresh install of the OS
the 7900X3D is the most baffling product
because you literally get half of the best of both worlds
i like that about game studios
the same presentation they'll be like
our new game has 65 million players and we'ev received record profits!
interesting how the 7800X3D outperforms even the 13900K in games that very specifically support its unique technology
game company ceo: i just got back from snorting coke off a hooker. woot this is awesome! yay!
also game company ceo: But we're in dire financial straits so we're firing everyone and filing bankruptcy
i think the game companies operate like movie studios
they should've just moved the studio to some far away place and started over
