idk about baskets at walmart but I do know that when it comes to computer parts, the stuff that is most likely hand-assembled is the CHEAP stuff
like usb flash sticks
because building a huge highly-automated assembly line can be kinda expensive
LOL
that reminds me
jeep did something like this in their newer wrangler steering wheels
I expect "handmade" AI that looks like proper AI at first, but it only has fixed answers :3
same exact wheel but it has a bolt-in weight in the hub
its 850 right now
300 bucks out of pocket with my visa gift card
I think I should wait for something better still
Hey Linux nerds, which command gives timestamps for icmp requests
I tried ping -D (target IP) and its not working
Then i tried ping -T tsonly (target IP) and that no work either
no ty
that should work, as per the man page, so if it doesn't, you may have to figure it out yourself. for whatever specific distro you are using
assuming its not some cut down distro, you should be able to pull up the man page on the device itself, or try a --help
if its cutdown the feature may not exist on that version
I figured it out. My lab wanted me to use hping 13
so you can see all the gamer "essence" build up under the keys.
gamer "seasoning" 😛
consists mostly of dorito dust and grease
oh wuuut
weird.
i got my mom a screen light bar thingy and liked the idea myself so i ordered one too, went with the slightly jazzier model because it said it'd fit curved screens better
but uh
y u do that benq
the bracket on the cheaper model doesn't go all the way around
so you get this nice not-interrupted beam of light
i like all the yellow
stay strong. dont buy the samsung
@deep sapphire of COURSE it's a ford
Buying Samsung is for the weak
disgusting
watch them bring it back years later as an innovative feature
the power button too ?

iphone 16 is going to be removing the screen
or
iphone 16 is going to be removing the charging port, only wireless charging allowed
iPhone 17 will remove your wallet
iphone already doing that

https://i.imgur.com/bWHOAvm.png what does "tune too load" mean?
we are talking about fan speed adjustment. There are some terms I don't understand 🤔
oh he edited it. He means "best not tune too low" XD
unless you live with a Corgi then dusting off once a week is excessive
GeForce RTX 4070 MSRP to match RTX 3070 Ti The RTX 4070 to be $200 cheaper than the RTX 4070 Ti. The company has reportedly settled on RTX 4070 non-Ti SKU price at $599. This information was confirmed during a press briefing, which usually takes place before each launch. Reviewers are now expecting their RTX […]
Wait, is this actually reasonable 40 series card pricing?
don't live with a corgi, but likely to bring some dog hair into the room cuz I visit my dog often 😛
I live with two dogs that fucking shed

Microsoft: "no"
they just have it as a splash screen when i logged in

i mean, yeah, pretty much

This video looks at the future of motherboards and PSUs -- assuming inertia is broken -- as the makers of PSUs shift cost to motherboards for 12V conversion to non-12V rails. The ATX12VO spec has been around for a while now, but we finally got some parts in to work with after hav...
uh, no lmao
$599 for what used to be a $200 part
at best
I'm still waiting for atxvo already:(
You can disable that and move it back though
i know..
i'd rather it fucks off till im willing to upgrade

Lmao that’s what I’m still rocking
Maybe this will drive the rest of the lineup down in price
hopium
7900xtx is 1000$ in the US
while the 4080 remains 1200$
that is also an incentive
The 4070Ti is just all around a terrible value
I hate Radeon but fuck sakes for the same price almost you get more performance and near double the vram
!hank
ngl I am kinda hoping to see you get a radeon gpu somehow(6000/7000 series) so that you can criticize it, would be interesting to see your real opinion after testing it cause you are the biggest critic
the heck is that
I’ll never buy another Radeon card again LOL
My 5970 was such an awful experience
Very fast card for the time
But it BSOD’d way too often
yea but it has been a decade or more since then that is why I am curious for the most part
My friend Chaz had nothing but problems with his 5700XT as well and I had to help him multiple times, yes I know it’s anecdotal but from personal experience AMD drivers even today aren’t that great
I have no problem with people buying them it’s your money
But I work a lot, I wanna enjoy my free time not troubleshooting my PC lmao
I also owned a 4870 but that was mostly trouble free ownership aside from my dumbass pairing it with a Phenom 64 for gaming lmao
from what I see online if you just want to game and browse the internet then the current AMD gpus are more than fine but the more complicated you make your setup the more problems arise, such as if you have multiple displays or watch hardware accelerated content while gaming
also if you do not DDU the old drivers before installing the gpu and install your own drivers offline before windows can install its own there are also problems
Right
I’ve had good luck with nvidia and I can afford them so that’s just what I go with
It’s like if you bought a shitty car from a brand
Sure maybe they got better over the years
But are you gonna trust them? Probably not
I know europe gets fucked on nvidia prices so I totally understand going AMD
wow, this is 3080 price in my place
the 4080 costs 1200 euro and the 4090 costs 1670 euro here right now, the 4070ti costs 900euro
the 7900xt costs 830euro and the 7900xtx costs 1100 euro all after taxes
at this point, i feel 12GB VRAM+ a should for investment
so the prices for nvidia are not unreasonable given how much they cost retail in the US
but we do not have open box stuff here
well
the 1070 had 8gb in 2016
we're in 2023 and the 4070ti has 12
very small uplift given how many generations apart the two are
cry in 3070-3070 ti, both 8GB
GPU with VRAM slots and VRAM sticks, when?
apps use vram? 😮
game application 15gigs
if you want cheap vram than amd has the gpus for that right now at a reasonable price point
used 6800xt or something has to be at or below 500$ nowdays
!hank
out of stock? D:
I think I gonna get one the moment it comes, as long as it doesn't price at US$800, lol
ye depends on the region
sometimes less
have seen a 6900xt for like 620 already
new
and the 6700xt is 350euro
SEE NVIDIA, REASONABLE PRICES HMMMMMMMMMM
that is not bad
the 6950xt is like a 3090/3090ti but without the raytracing
I have seen 3090s for 830euro new in greece tho
which is weird
that is a bit too pricey
wtf
yep
over here its so bad when you move out of the low-income bracket because taxes skyrocket. so like, jumping from 18k a year to 30k is huge but 30-50k is a tiny jump because the taxes increase so much
you dont have to pay for anything really and you save up your money for years
4gigs of vram on those? something seems wrong
my system does not use much vram automatically
the more ram you got, the more ram windows will eat
vram tho?
ye
Fuck electron
squint eye
will this metal mesh front of Antec DF700 Flux works well as a dust filter too? Am considering between this case and 4000D Airflow that has a proper frontal dust filter.

more like since Vista. DWM was introduced with that one but kept on changing with each new release for a good reason
7's DWM was complete trash
damn US$55

slapp on for a e s t h e t i c
not even cat proof
$55
just get rid of the cat :3
weeaboo RAM
I thought it is Cirno from Touhou Project
oh ADATA stuff
turns out just some chibi
nahhhh copyright
yeston has some really cute waifu GPU tho
NAISU
is dat yours?
USB port powered via port on PC?
more expensive than 4090
inb4 someone peels the intrusion parts 😄
this is le waifu btw
like ngl I kinda get sick of edgey design card
sleek cards and waifu cards where
husbando card where 😄
kinda wish waifu case has more than just printed waifu image on case panels 🤔
hmmm ngl theme build is a bit tricky
like beside stickers, cases, parts are generally generic stuff
I think this face can make a cool frontal intrusion part of an anime case
but not waifu so pass
IKR
because the QA team is the same as razer's
the customer
it's more efficient that way, you get more testing hours and configurations for no capital expense
game devs do that too 🤷
I read that it was anything but 🤔
ok nexus poster
it's fine as long as you mod the game and fix the dev's fuckups for them
i already beat it on ps3, and then ps4
wild that it was remade twice
2 is a better game imo
controversial
2 plays better tho
Like, mechanically its pretty much improvement all around
I haven't played tlou1 since maybe 2014/2015 tho
yeah mechanically it is way better
I think the new remaster might have adopted the gameplay?
Is ASUS TUF Gaming TF120 ARGB okay as case fans? Or should i opt for cooler master sickleflow 120 (a bit more pricey) or corsair icue rgb ( x2 the price of asus one).
for cheap fans I would look at Arctic Cooling P12 PWM
No available 😦
o-oh
There is also a thermaltake duo. The other 3 are all 3 fan pack
I wouldn't worry too much, they'd all be suitable as case fans. Difference between performance should be pretty minimal in modern fans
make sure what you get is PWM though
not certain that is standard
Welp, I’m blowing 4 grand at micro center later
Speeeecs!
chad status revoked
LMAO Corsair sees the Fractal North popping off and is like: MOVE ALL STONKS INTO WOOD!
Marble case when
4090 with 13700K and a 48” LG C2
This was a steal
It’s 1000 bucks everywhere else, I’ll take an open box to save almost 250 bucks
hm
as someone who recently bought a 4090
you are not prepared
no matter how big you think it is, it's bigger
Lmao I believe it
1600$ for a 4090, 800$ for TV, 2400$ total, how is the rest of the system 1600$? Intels not that expensive is it
Need cpu, board, ram, new case yadda yadda
are you getting a psu with a 12vhpwr connector? because I wish I had done that
I’m not reusing anything
because you don't want to bend that cable too much
also need a wide case for that reason
Yeah I’m gonna see what they have available
or the 90 degree adapter from CableMod
I’m gonna see if micro center has a price guarantee cause the 7800X 3D is coming out and maybe Intel will drop prices
My case is very old and in bad condition
they certainly will
the 7800X3D will be the new king at like 450$ no way they will keep price the same
Yeah
I may wait but being I’m playing at 4K I doubt it’ll matter much
Hence why I’m not gonna bother getting a 13900
3d vcache is pretty good on some titles 4K or not
I looked at comparisons between the 13700K and the 13900K, and the 900 does not seem worth it over the 700 for how much more expensive it is
yeah that's valid
I do think not getting the 7800X3D is a bit of a waste on a new system if you are spending that much on it but if the 13700k is on a big discount then it might push it over the edge.
I do think that it will blow everything out of the water in gaming
no competition
unless its a 7950x3d with a ccd disabled
Well, I don’t see the 7800X3D doing nearly as well in production
And I do play around with 3D rendering sometimes
ohh
it is a steal at that price
I wish we had open box stuff in greece
the 7800x3d comes out in ... 7 days (6th of april)
I would suggest waiting to see benchmarks from reviewers
up to you
AMD...
the CPUs are really good now
GPUs are also considered good but its definitely a step outside of peoples comfort zone for a lot of folk
So, question time;
7900 XTX system
or
4080 System for $230 more?
(Powering a 4k 120hz monitor)
the 4080 is overall weaker than the 7900xtx in rasterization
but the 4080 is stronger in ray tracing performance
so you are paying 230$ more for nvidia tax/comfort + somewhat better ray tracing
Depend on your need and your system of choice
whether those two things are worth 230$ is up to you and your own personal situation
See it'd be nice to have Raytracing, but I don't think many of the games I play/want to play on PC have it since I've never tried due to my 3080 absolutely tanking when it's turned on.
Like I think Darktide and 2042 have it, and Cyberpunk + Elden Ring (neither of which I've gotten to yet) have it.
vs Intel tho?
They were better than intel a couple years ago
Don’t know about the current models though
It's a fine balance. You'll really want to deploy DLSS when using it on a 3080
Well like a year ago
I finished Cyberpunk with RT on a 3060 Ti
They perform about the same, but AMD draws less power and generates less heat (especially with the x3D ones).
It was like 2 years ago I think that amd really destroyed intel in one generation of CPU’s
Yeah I have a zen 3
Intel 13900k, but only like....4 more on average than the new 7950x3D.
At a cost of like 2x the power draw and way more heat.
I associate marble with tacky faux riche asian styles
A lot of that marble veneer on stuff in asian homes and businesses, and it's either very thin or made of plastic lol
But I don't even want to know what that'll do to my 3060ti
Sarah has an entire room of PC parts but nothing to use personally? heh
I'm broke
It'll just take away from my wallet lol
I can wait a bit and just use my laptop
I pay for tuition next month, then I can see what I have left to work with
?
Ameriiicaaaaan$$$$$$
Oh right you are from Syrupland
Mmmm actually
I
Maybe I know where to find something not shit
I think I have a few Apus I rehomed
CPUs are less risky than GPUs on buying used imho and if you have AMD you obviously know there is a wide gulf of chips you could pick from then
Maybe one of those?
It'll still be bottlenecked
But can't be as bad as a 1300x lmfao
Well sure, but it's still something until you have more money
I've got a Core i3 3220 if you had an intel board heh
I'm build a new system soon tbh that's why I'm so stingy
Lol it's aight, appreciate it though
I dug this hole, I fill it
I do like that we've gone over the peak of what the average person needs so like the only reason I updated my parent's PC is I think the mobo was failing after 10 years
In a month or two I'll get enough cash to find a 7950x or 3D or w/e
It's a cheap ECgroup board so it cold boots to login screen in 3 seconds
My parents PC is just a gen 1 nucc
It will be replaced when it finally crumbles to dust
Yep. I didn't want to deal with diagnosing the issue, so my mom said to just upgrade it.
I had an extra HSF I didn't use in my server build bc it was too big and I bought a microatx board again and a 12100F
Yep it was like $100 for the CPU
It's a mini tower case so it's pretty small and they have an unused bedroom it's at so its np
Because if it breaks I can throw it across the street and buy a new one for pennies
In the US I can just drop it off at Bestbuy and they recycle for free
Towers have like
Way too many parts in it
Lmfao and its too big for my parents
The nucc is zipped tied to the vesa mount
That's some wacky solution ngl but it works
That's actually a pretty common thing for businesses and such
The pizza place I worked at used strips of industrial strapping and screwed them into the wall
It works, no complain tho
This cut into strips, looped around the SFF cases from Dell and screwed to the wall
A bit weird but ok
Ayeeee
That's the wackiest kind of mounting ngl
Small business calls for small price solutions heh
Hehehe yes
The zipties is what the last anime con I went to did. Their schedule screens at the panel rooms had R-pis tied to the back and they had a few TVs in the common areas of the hallways with a couple sofas showing off random anime playing from USB sticks connected to cheap smart TVs
I kinda wish I could just build my own ITX instead of potentially buying one but the market kinda fucked right now.
All the good non-reference GPUs are too big for ITX cases, and reference GPUs are scarce.
AND
All the good ITX cases are sold out until indeterminate dates.
The painge
Seriously though.
Massive GPUs.
And the cases?
Meshlicious and Meshroom? Gone.
T1 Sandwich? Gone.
Corsair 2000D? Only from Origin pre-builts.
H1 V2? Available, but only 750w PSU and 140mm AIO, weak for higher-end parts.
NR200P? Hard to find, hard for GPUs to fit?
Silverstone M13? Need a modern reference card and has little room for cooling modern CPUs.
If you plan on welding I wouldn’t fuck around with galvanized steel
How tho
gf has an NR200P
I should get a black one
Although that's a lot of cost for new mobo too
Unfortunately my desk would do better with a vertical case (like the Meshroom S) than a horizontal case. A horizontal case like the T1 would be good too, but not available either.
You need a shipment from the stack of spare hardware I've got here? :P
All reality tho, hope you can get it sorted. Dead processors are evil.
So I'm at an impasse; stuck with my own indecisiveness.
I could do one of two things with my tax refund and OT pay I've been working on, but I'm torn between the two of them.
Option 1 - $3,000
I get the ITX build I like for my PC as well as an overall upgrade.
- Go from a 3080 to a 7900 XTX
- From an Intel 11th Gen to AMD 7600x
- Reduce the footprint of my PC and get something that just looks nicer
OR
Option 2 - Like $2,700-ish
- Keep my current case, CPU etc.
- Get a 4090 + new PSU (since I only have an 850w right now)
- Get a soundbar
- Get a new collectible figure too
Tbh, depends on where your chokepoint is in your system. I'd skip the 4090 personally, unless you're absolutely slaughtering your system gpu-wise.
Yeah, it takes something monsterous to slay the 3090ti w/ 4k's.
Like CP2077 or something absurd w/ full RT.
I have a 4k 120hz monitor (that ASUS ROG OLED one).
I usually play Halo Infinite, 2042, FFXIV, FGs like Strive, then stuff like Elden Ring or Cyberpunk.
Single 4k probally won't be slaughtered even at 120hz for a 3090ti-class card, I use triple 60's np for most gaming.
3080 might be a bit more marginal tho.
Funnily enough; I did try a 3090 once.
I got the ZOTAC one, and it died in like 2 weeks - magic smoke and all.
I hadn't sold my 3080 yet so I returned it for a refund and just kept my 3080 since then.
I mean, it's zotac.
They're not exactly good cards.
Blessed Weird Al.
I was listening to aluminium foil the other day and cheery af due to it.
I was tempted because it was on sale for less than MSRP and I was like...why not?
That's because they're crap. :P
In any case, I'd probally piecemeal the upgrade and see what you choke on, I don't see RAM upgrades, which tends to be glanced over, but depending on your current (unknown) specs, could be a good path.
pog
I asked the same question I asked here in another Discord and they got mad at me.
For liking high-powered PCs and having a bunch of OT money I worked for to spend?
Ironically enough they were the ones who got me into PC building in the first place when my old PC died a few years ago.
I mean, in this server that's not even that high powered. :)
But people are weird.
@potent arrow - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5932087 Time to build yourself a custom mini ITX. First time I've seen a semi-sane, reasonably printable case. I'm seriously considering trying now.
Check out the full build video here: https://youtu.be/yerYsAh5nNQ
Designed using Sketchup Pro. All Sketchup files are available for personal modification using Sketchup.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions if you have any.
Stuff required to build this case: (Affiliate links)

3D Printer filamen...
I kinda want to print one in transparent purple for one of my servers.
some people get mad cause some don't really have a lot of money, pc gaming is a very broad and accessible platform, where the cheapest you can buy, for even 10$, would be considered enough to be "gameable"
I guess it's just like...gaming is my primary hobby, and I spend most of my disposable income on it. I also have a tendency to work a lot of OT so I guess it just follows I'd have a nicer setup?
Then again I guess I am slightly more able to spend since I don't have kids or a car (even though I still have all the other stuff you'd expect to pay).
4200 bucks
?
!hank
So this was/is the prebuilt I was considering my above question
Comes out to $2,810 without tax
Can actually put a 4080 in it, making it $3,020 without tax
that seems really expensive
ITX normally is
Though TBF
7900 XTX is $1,000 MSRP
7600x is $300 or so depending on location
That Mobo is $250 retail
$200-ish PSU
That RAM is $100-$180-ish depending on variety and brand
So that is $1,900 not counting case, storage, cooler or Windows
What I spent at micro center lmao
Yeah it’s nice having one in the state
you just spent 4200?
are you finally upgrading?
what did you get
He bought a Chevrolet shaped toaster
I hope I get a job and I get to buy a good PC for like monthly pay instead of one time transaction
I don't think either GPU upgrade sounds necessary, honestly. But the first one seems like a crazy amount of money for a marginal upgrade unless you have like an 11300F or something
A full system upgrade after only 2 years in 2023 sounds like a waste, but I suppose if you can get good money flipping your old stuff it might not be too bad.
Only buy what you know you can afford. If they have like zero interest for a year or something and you know you can pay it off in 12 payments then go for it I guess.
It's a big trap though for people to get a new job and immediately start increasing how much they spend per month instead of paying down existing bills and setting some money aside.
Don't get a payment plan with some sort of rental center or where it's like a penalty and 30% interest if you don't pay it in time, etc.
12 month standard payment, no interest rate, it's not a loan nor a lending service, you own the machine but instead of paying the full price tag, you pay it in small chunks
Yeah as long as it's something like the direct price thru the vendor and it's not paying extra. Make sure the 12 payments actually add up to the given price of the machine heh
which considering the current wage range I can get job in in around 1k USD per month at BEST
What's the normal monthly wage for like a retail worker compared to that for you?
Okay, so a bit more, but not a very significant amount. And that's for an IT job then I take it?
$800 USD is enough to secure a decent enough rig... in the US.
6600XT
but yeah food/rent aside
I mean 800 without anything essential, like your tax and health insurance deducted but that's your entire paycheck
I would be reasonable in my system pick then and you can always upgrade it more later.
gotta spend less on candles then
what I looked at was a pretty good rig with a 3080
Or get a strong CPU with a weaker GPU and then you can always buy a better GPU later and flip the existing one.
What is your budget @wraith agate
please stop asking about budget
I asked about the wages bc I know not everyone makes US/Canada/EU wages
I just said if I get a PC, it's through a monthly paying instead of a single purchase
TBF budget and use-case are the two most important things when advising on hardware purchases
Yeah it's probably better if you got all the essential parts first
even if you say it's a pretty wide range like $1500-2000
then you get a dGPU last
if I have to say a range, somewhere between 2000-3000
Okay that is more useful
but here's the thing, it tends to be cheaper here sometimes
That's the one downside with relatively fixed hardware prices around the world on parts
Since Intel and AMD set the prices for the most part
also I need to ask after if they also let me pay a monthly for parts too or if they only accept it for prebuilts
So follow up question;
What resolution do you want?
And do you prefer Big, Medium or small Case?
let her get a job first lol
Back on my earlier topic for a minute. So I think I've maybe been going about it the wrong way; PC is big and annoying...on this desk.
I've had a thought of maybe change the desk, get one if those side stands to get LE CHONK off my desk.
Cheaper, and I could maybe still sneak in say a...4080?
(Also the desk kinda sucks and I've hated it for two years.)
I actually have a medium case so far as I like medium sized builds, RGB is nonessential for me, I have a relatively new 1440p 144hz monitor, I do not want to replace my peripherals only the PC itself so there's that
I mean yes, but having a specific goal in mind and visualized can help and motivate
I have a case that fits SSI/EEB mobos but I'm still using ATX
At your wages in your country, that makes the PC you want is approximately 2 months wage.
Boy, for me that would mean like over $10k for a PC
trust me, the only ones here that need motivation are people not hiring me
After all - the reason I can stand working so much OT is because I think of the things I want with it.
Okay, so 1440p, $2,000.
Personal Preference Question; do you care about Ray Tracing?
I kinda do
Right
but that comes with any RTX
Yeah if you already have a case and a PSU and storage etc. you might want to just get parts upgrades.
I re-used my AIO watercooler for like 10 years.
Right, but it makes me avoid AMD in my recommendations for GPUs since they don't do RT well
If it fits EEB it sounds large enough to fit basically anything.
I'd save the 1TB SSD honestly and let the rest go to my mom because she needs a relatively stronger PC too
Ah okay.
I kinda did that as well, I did a short upgrade cycle of 3years and gave that to my niece and nephew
actually... I kinda always been an nvidia person, I know AMD is catching up but I prefer to stick to nvidia on gpus
I haven't seriously considered AMD GPUs since the HD 5800 series but for low or mid-range they're fine after a few months.
You are kinda trading price for stability tho bc the drivers are always still kinda dodgy for the first year+
eh, actually what I might do is leave the old PC in its entirety to my mom, SSD included, but I will definitely wipe it clean and reinstall WIN10
If it's a 1TB I would just put that in the new one and give her like a 256-512gb.
Unless you're storing tons of games on it, you don't need a lot of storage when you just use Office and Youtube etc.
Yeah go with like a 512gb then. That's enough space for productivity apps and half a dozen modern games.
Tbh, giving away a PC, it's good to slap in a new drive, just to make sure it's not got any wear/tear/etc.
well tbh my SSD is from a seller I haven't heard of before
and frankly can't remember
so it might be nearing its end cycle too
I highly suggest TeamGroup, they're surprisingly good for next to nothing.
As much as I love samsung for stupid fast data rates, arrays of the things are all teamgroup in my world.
hmm
in any case, if I can get a good PC, I might as well get a good and new storage
also for how suspiciously cheap this SSD has been, it's actually been functioning since 2018
would avoid Samsung unless their quality improves
yeah nah, Samsung is very expensive for me
Riche Asian likes Jade more 😄
You can temp slapp a cheapo ADATA/not-A400-Kingston and call it a day as it's cheapo af
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
one thing I might want to try, a thing I missed out on is because I only recently learned I have an M.2 slot on my mobo, so maybe for next build or for this build, I might get a cheap M.2 SSD and replace current SSD with that
that doesn't do much for me sorry, local prices and all
M.2/NVMe is FAST
plus local chain store is different
SEA price?
Waaaaaait
but like eastern EU
but can it run line98?
Hmmm slightly tricky but should be fine
What is HUF?
But are you free to visit some store by yourself?
Prob Hungarian currency
it is
Oh
want my new PC has as many dust filters as possible. Also fans
discover that exhaust fans = no dust filter
Why lives?
Ngl I only use pcpartpicker for part compatible and build plan, then check the local price myself and adjust plan
Generally: you want to filter your INTAKE air, to ward the hair/dust away, while the hot air EXHAUST can just leave it be
And balance between intake-exhaust for best cooling
Well...then sorry. Can't help with Hungarian prices since PC Partpicker doesn't have'em
I mean... you do not want to keep the dust inside the PC
it's an exhaust after all
Top dust filter that comes with the case: What is my purpose?
Top exhaust fans: to be removed
doesn't count you also have concern about dog hair
not dog hair. My hair
Anti cat solution
And ye also hooman hair
oh well I guess I can just put the thing aside when running PC and put it back up when the PC stops operating
stillness invites dust 😄
here's one example on local store, I hope the list is obvious what what is
where is x3d?
not available
Prebuilt?
72m hug?
OOF
Only $300 less than what I built for way less perf.
yes
also yes
yeah that's if in HUF, average pay
Ice
I live here
I know
yeah I guess
in any case, yeah 72m in local terms is a lot
not everyone runs around with that much
but when converted to other currency, it's not too much
there was a time I thought Philips brand is from Philippines
Okay, not strictly tech related - which do y'all prefer for a desk? They're all relatively the same functional surface
You can p much keep ur salary and live anywhere in SEA except Singapore
the first one looks easy to clean. Trust me. It is a huge bonus
This
how big is your mousepad? Mine is desk-width
Ngl this is some ouchi back but it works better than my prev space
Matoya save us all.
which Matoya?
From sitting to standing real quick
The kitty. So that I can at least get a good look before she kills me.
Yeah if you already have the 1TB as extended storage, get a nice M.2 512gb PCI4.0 drive then or something.
the old one will appear and delete you before you can interact with her beloved disciple 😄
treat yourself to some yummy paste
If you meant me, it's about 37in across and 16in deep
tbf, prebuilt or not, the PC gets pretty good reviews and as far as I can tell, their cable management is good
Oy the old one not just delet you
She deals critically DH emotional damage, and let the rest of you evaporate eventually
O ya is theyre any info of the PSU/power supply for that one
Some prebuild usually has weird/sussy/cheapo PSU
ah wait
I spoke too soon
700W
let me see if they write what type
nope
doesn't say if bronze, silver gold or platinum
just it's 700W
but the memory is DDR4 3200
Because if you don't want hassle, can buy a nice PSU and swap
not on the online store
Huhhh
SO
The same store?
here's the thing
when I inquired in person, they said they do PC parts too, but only for orders, so I'd have to go in with a list of items and see if they can order them and for what price
and then ofc, if they do the monthly for the whole cost instead of paying all at once because doing so is rather expensivo
but maybe I should focus on this first
Nah, spend that money before you get it.
It is the American way.
(This is not financial advice. Please do not do that.)
#notfinancialadvice
that looks incredibly crowded
also like a headache if there's an earthquake
At least no earthquake in my place
sigh. That's a tough one. So the left one appears to have a metal frame, so it will probably survive a move. The middle one really won't. If you move that sucker it'll fall apart. The right one, I'm not sure what it's made out of. It looks like it's cheap wood trying to look like a metal frame though.
i think I'd take my chances with the one on the right
the one on the left looks really cheap
The top machine is my mobile machine so it usually won't be there during day
but I'm not a huge fan of any of them
Well ya, it's wacky anyway
hmm? was talking about the 3 desks paragon was looking at
OH lol
yours looks like a bookshelf being used as a desk hehe
It IS a bookshelf/toolshelf xD
my desk is solid wood, was probably made in the 80s or 70s,
built like a brick shit house
Rigged a bit to be a sitting-standing position depend on tasks
Middle one probably. Looks the most sturdy and the shelves might be nice. Right might be okay but looks like glass or just cheap
Asus Radeon RX 7900 XT 20GB at a discount: $765.63 🤔
yay or nay? Note that I'm in Vietnam and this thing is around $1000+.
A 6900 XT is around US$801.28
a 6800 XT is U$620-650 depending on brand
In what way?
where is white card?
Didn’t feel like paying another 200 dollars for it lmao
a bucket of paint should be like US$50 at best :3
but it is ok, having another color emphasizes the whole setting
accent 😄
True
I asked my buddy if he had windows 11 on a usb drive
He gives me windows 10
😒
Thank him for the thumb drive, delete it, and put Windows 11 on it /s
He did you a favor
What card is that
he got a 4090
bulky
THICC
https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/graphics-cards/asus/rx7900xt-20g/ super basic look and only 272mm
I like that
has coil whine issues though
does it affect performance or just being noisy?
depending on how bad the coil whine is you can entirely ignore it or it’ll be like nails on a chalkboard
cuz I doubt you can get more noisier than sitting next two electric fans, underneath an A/C, and adjacent to a air purifier
but I heard the 7900 XT(X) reference models are… bad.
XLR8
I'm more on edge hearing my nephew's loud voice chat than anything sharpen my tonberry knife
my card has coil whine, if i get something to run at 500fps 😛
ive only managed to get one game to do that
feels good to continue to supporting intel and nvidia

yeah
using cooking oil for bearing lube is probably not a great idea
you should use a spray lubricant
they make other stuff
silicon lubricants in particular work pretty well
WD40 is an okay lubricant but it wasnt designed for that
so it wears off easily
eh probably not but it might be conductive if it flings off or something
LOL
well, same thing applies anyway
sure
use a spray lubricant
nope
im downloading last of us
never played it
always wanted to
just now yeah
I heard the port was kinda lousy but we'll see
also last year I switched to dc fans
got a couple from amazon and one from walmart
wait where'd i put the walmart one
lol it's still in the box 😄
with a light 😮
is that the one that seized up too?
that sucks
i've never had a fan do that
i've had fans that just.. died..
ye the last of us has a bad pc port
idk if they fixed it yet
RE4R looks better than this ngl
but
its a good game
its a shame what happens in TLOU2
the 4090 should have an hdmi 2.1 port
I honestly thought any HDMI cable could work
I don’t pay attention to these things
Problem is I’m using a TV for my monitor
Display port isn’t an option sadly
AMD BTFO ONCE AGAIN
FSR2 has given my 1070 a new lease on life
it is the reason why I can play RE4R at good settings(high) with 50-60fps
its why I do not rush to get a new gpu
cause I know every game will have a playable framerate
sus
tbf I have bought from that store before without problems
but its 50 euro cheaper there than anywhere else
ouch
why can't i be neither
oh wait there's 4 choices nvm
i thought there were only left vs right lol
peerless assassin height - 155mm
ram height - 44mm
4000D's cooler clearance - 170mm
will they fit together?
Yeah 48”
man maybe i should get one >>
o11 case?
idk where i fit on that chart
First time or replaying on pc?
ngl tights under pants in winter sounds a lot more comfortable than nothing or itchy thermal underwear

probably middle bottom
Druckmann's ego has permanently ruined any interest I had in playing TLOU at this point
i use macs for work things, and i like sublime text and c and linux
My feet are way too cold for that, but I guess the more time you spend barefoot you kinda get used to that more as well
My friend's youngest is 5 now and still refuses to wear socks at home. They come off the moment he enters the house every time, even in winter.
it doesn't get cold enough here for leggings lol
just nah
also i had a grudge against thinkpads after that time when I was in college
hanging out with my friends before our cs class started
i had a few year old powerbook g4 and this asshole walks up to me carrying a thinkpad and we get to talking linux and hardware stuff
i was having fun with x11 at the time and showed them how I had something along the lines of rainmeter running in it alongside os x
and this dude
this jackass says
"only an idiot would buy a mac"
and then walks away
after that I kinda had a grudge against thinkpads
then i toyed with a thinkpad at a random anime con to try some thing they were showing off
it had a nice keyboard
I think there are a lot of nice things about a mac for pure development work, but I would hate them for basically everything else bc they're so restrictive
And for example, if you're intersecting with development work that needs to run on PC, you then need a VM to test anything for powershell etc.
lmao
why is their monitor so tiny O_o
Monitor: HP E231 (yes I need an upgrade)
huh it's not small it's just funny looking
oh damn
sadness
pretty much my final form! build: http://file.hstatic.net/1000333506/file/image_faea88d546af44bd8666294fd4dbdcd3_2048x2048.png

xx50 feels like a noob trap nowadays
We now have some information surrounding Nvidia’s entry level RTX 40 series graphics card the RTX 4050. This GPU will allegedly use the same configuration as it’s laptop variant just with higher clock speeds. It’ll utilize a mere 6GB memory buffer and come with a 96-bit bus. This makes the upcoming “budget” Ada Lovelace GPU, DOA. There’s no way ...
my second laptop had a 755M
it was okay
could run FFXIV fine but did get very hot
problem was that it was a laptop and the keyboard would get so warm it almost scalded my fingers
sadly it was a trap for a long while
the last good x50 card that actually made sense was the 1050Ti
My ex had a 1050Ti, he streamed shiet w it for a godwhoknowshowlong until he got upgraded
Yes even MHW
And streamed it
Gud value card ngl
Ex ya

in-house port. Should have hired porting specialists instead
remind me of Ys 8 launch. Totally banal still they hired someone who knows his stuff
I thought naughty dog chose someone else to do it
Dog did the port in-house. Iron Galaxy helped with some stuffs to make sure the game catch up release schedule
people dogpiles on Iron Galaxy cuz of Batman port, but it is not always Iron Galaxy's fault.
my SSD is fixed 🤔
FF14 on non-SSD is kinda stuttering
https://i.imgur.com/P9aiXxJ.png wow 9 GB VRAM for med 1080 :/
cry in 2GB VRAM
3070 and 3070Ti minimums LMAO
I get it, that's 1440p@Ultra
but the cards have the horsepower to run it. the VRAM says "nope"
ah, so they finally created an incentive to buy the 4090
Gonna try this with my 3070ti later and if it's shit I'll whine here
you either work so hard that you can buy a 4090, or you die without two kidneys
gotta get myself a 7900 xt at $765
20 GB RAM should be helpful for a while
tbh you couldn't have known that this was going to happen this soon after you bought it
now 8gb vram is considered entry level but back when you bought it, it was considered OK
although even back then I was very wary of getting anything with the same vram as my card from 2016, I wanted more
I expect it'll still play fine and look great on high settings anyway
yeah
I feel bad for anyone who bought the 3070 tbh
its rasterization is good but its so hampered by vram capacity
what a wasted opportunity for a good value card
that rumored 16gig 3070 was going to be really good
remember when Sony decided the PS3 needed only 256 MB of VRAM
how much vram does the PS5 have?
Vram? Lemme check
16GB GDDR6
ohh sheesh
I think it combines regular RAM and VRAM in one or something?
because it uses a custom GPU
PC Master Race
not if you don't have Master Wallet
imagine building a PC to run everything 4k 60 FPS, when you can just buy 3 consoles and a 4k TV 🤔
48gb cards already exist but only in the server space atm
or work
I think the next jump will be to 36gig in two-three generations
I wonder what will happen if you use a 24gig gpu with 16gigs of ram in a game that needs like 12gigs of vram at most but has 32gigs of ram as the requirement
iirc it's possible to use VRAM as regular RAM but it requires some finagling behind the scenes and might not be optimal
you probably would have to use some API calls in unintended ways

will they make an RTX 4090 Ti, I wonder
with how godawfully large the 4090 already is
its not the ps3 version we got
its the remastered PS5 version
it was a big visual uplift
The core game design itself isn’t leveraging any out of this world requirements
Improved assets and visuals should’ve been covered by the shader loading nonsense
No factions multiplayer either

the 3080ti on my laptop is basically a 3070 but with 16GB VRAM
and the extra framebuffer def helps a lot
what did you buy tho
a 4090
yeah but he said he spent over 4k so I need full details
I hope next gen high end is good
i7 13700K, RTX 4090, 32GB RAM, 2TB 980 Pro SSD, O11 Mini and a 48" LG oled C2
Hopefully it does. NVIDIA GPU gens since Pascal feels like Windows releases
10 series - good
20 - meh
30 - good
40 - meh
40 is good its just overpriced
^
the 4090 was a MASSIVE uplift in performance
If I have time, that’s probably what I’ll use some of my money for if the military doesn’t take up all my time.
I hope there’s still time to game
and that's the biggest problem. its grossly overpriced. even worse than Turing
tbf
I know lol
3080 (if obtainable at MSRP) was a bargain
And to compensate for that, they fucking crippled the new 80
the 4080 is not bad, its just overpriced
the 20 series also brought a lot of new good things to the table I cannot deny it but value wise. that series was terrible and the same happens with the 40 series @deep sapphire
20 series was literally just a guinea pig generation
Yes and no. as modern DX12 has started to be far more common
Pascal was basically doomed
It was still a guinea pig generation no matter what advancements were being made
Not to mention the charged the prices we’re seeing now, then pretty much
to put it into perspective. pascal is such trash at dx12 that in far cry 6. the 1660Ti outperforms the 1080Ti
20 series had pretty meme tier raster performance uplift
the 1080Ti was 2good
thats how the 3080 felt before the crypto bros fucked that market
No, no, no, they publicly said cryptocurrency bad
I meant the price uplift
ironically Jensen himself said that cryptocurrencies have no value to society recently
He is also the same fucker that said that having a non-RTX card was a waste of money when the 20 series was out and then he released the 16 series

Jensen is stupid
that'll last ages
i wouldn't say ages given how progression is going for graphics
I mean
if you used a 2009 gpu in 2016 you couldn't do much if at all
but now you can use a 2016 card in 2023 and be fine
yeah but we'll see how much that continues with all the things coming
I can play RE4R on high settings with 50-60fps on my 1070, I could also run another game with medium settings but texture on high with also 50-60fps
its progressing slower than before tbh
games cannot keep up with the power of new gpus
but before in the mid 2010s they could
that's right, go look at your thots in glorious high res
you filthy thot
There is also a thing that people need to remember. games are being developed around the lowest common denominator of its gen. and ofc the PS4 and Xbox One were really underpowered consoles
so people could get away with 750tis and etc for a long time
AND FUCKERS ARE STILL DEVELOPING NEXT GEN TITLES FOR PS4 AND XBOX
street fighter 6 should not be on last gen consoles 😭
barely, its like going from ps3 to ps4 era. the PC, PS5 and Series X get the full versions of the game while the previous gen is getting literal dogshit as a game
but the point is that the requirements increase based on the consoles as they set the bar
